Robert Plant's vocal chords were overflactuating due to years of singing with a lot of compression. But he still did perform in front of all these thousands of people and one's gotta respect that. Plus he's a legend and always will be. So fair play to him, quite literally.

Jimmy was really high that day. Fortunately, he overcame his addictions (he just didn't stop smoking ...) he showed enormous willpower and discipline when he left drugs and alcohol. That was great, he is alive and healthy, 77 years old now, so beautiful with his gray hair. I love you Jimmy! I love you since I was born and I will love you until the last moment of my life. Thanks to you the world had Led Zeppelin! 🎶🎸❤️

I remember sitting on my bed in 1985 watching this live on TV . It was apparent Robert was struggling with the pitch, and when Jimmy went for the solo I held my breath because I was sure he was going to fall over. They went on too long as Phil missed the ending, due to Robert missing the Ooh yeah bit once. He did it second time around and Roberts like "Stop! I wanna get off". Tony and JPJ made a decent job of it. And Paul did great on bass when JPJ played keyboards on Stairway. They saved a lot of lives that night by not minding what people thought. R.I.P: Tony Thompson.

Rock and Roll is probably my favorite concert opener -- but Plant can't sing it as the first song, which is why it surprises me that the band did in fact open with this. Plant didn't do warm-up exercises before taking the stage (ever), which damaged his vocal cords around 1972. Since then he has needed to start out with songs in a lower register, which is why Rock and Roll became the closing number (frequently an encore).
I still have a clear memory of watching this as a 16 year old Led Zeppelin fanatic. I remember thinking at the time that Page's guitar sounded like it was underwater, and JPJ's bass was inaudible. The drums sounded tinny, and Collins was totally clueless. Worst of all, though, was Plant's vocals. They sounded as if he'd smoked a pound of hash before the show.
A very happy 78th birthday to a rock guitar icon. James Patrick Page January 9, 1944, Heston, England. Thank you for making music that changed our lives.. And settting a standard for the best rock guitarist in the world. Now and in the rock future forever..
It’s remarkable just how the audience responded to Zeppelin just being on stage !! It didn’t seem to matter just how unrehearsed & ramshackle the performance was…
I was there. It was a Philadelphia Rock Show crowd there, and all anyone talked about all day was seeing Zeppelin. They split in 1980, and no one at the time thought they would see the remaining members together again. Also I remember only seeing Led Zep t-shirts everywhere. When Phil Collins announced the band the roar was so loud we didn't hear John Paul Jones introduced. We finally realized it was him halfway through the set(we were in the back of the stadium. ) It was a memorable show. Clapton was great, the Beach Boys also. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young reunited also, but for some reason all the Led Zeppelin fans ended up with tickets.
The gentleman who worked his butt off on this video. Two huge thumbs up! I only watch RUclips videos with my amplifier and Sennheiser headphones. And you sir did an outstanding job!!! Thank you so much!
I love Led Zeppelin but, I'm glad I didn't see this performance back in '85. I was twelve at the time. I think I was still into Michael Jackson? Anyway, my boy's singing wasn't the best but, he redeemed himself on "Stairway To Heaven," I know some might disagree. And, WTF Jimmy?! Is it just me or was his guitar playing all over the place?! I didn't watch this performance because OMG I couldn't. But, the comments are pretty damn funny, even though some are a little on the cruel side.
In 1985, we ZEP fans, would have crawled over broken glass to hear a ZEP reunion of any kind. This was as close as we could get. And it was good enough for some of us. Lastly ,despite all the negative comments on ZEP's performance....ONE very important thing to remember about this "Live Aid" gig. It was for a good ,charitable cause to assist millions of people who were dying of starvation. Lots of $ raised for Ethiopia on this day. And that was what this day was really all about. Lest we forget.
hey the ethipian thing that's something else the performance was awful mostly cause the drummers (more than no one else collins couldn't get anything right his times were wrong all the time his playing was quite shitty it was his fault that this ''so called'' reunion happened to be hideous!
Indominus Solitario What a load of bollocks I'm no Collins fan can't stand the guy , but even I know he's a solid drummer . Led Zeppelin were shit simple as that , don't always believe the hype about them they weren't as good as fans want you to believe, and typical Zeppelin fans always blame Collins for this pile of crap !!
Anthony Mclean- I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, but everyone was at fault for something. Collins, along with Tony Thompson didn't hold up the rhythm so well, despite them being solid drummers. Page was flat out drunk, and Plants voice was burned out from prior concerts. Jones was actually in good form, though. But with the lack of rehearsal, among other things, this performance was destined not to turn out well.
Their shambolic performance at Live Aid is the stuff of legend. Such a disappointment for the world who eagerly waited for it. Young people don’t realise how amazing for us Live Aid was. The fact that we all watched on TV the same thing at the same time, was an incredible concept back then. Which is why so many bands got on board and agreed to do it ...for free. It was the best thing about the mid 1980’s. I think. And how quickly it was all organised. I doubt Led Zeppelin would have had time to rehearse.
Bearing in mind Phil Collins had performed at Wembley the same day then caught Concorde to fly to the USA for this performance in Philly with no rehearsal and jet-lagged he did quite well!! As for Robert, ....well.
It's funny how Phil Collins was so hot back then, that HE was the one to play both concerts, and I bet very few millennial's even know who the hell he is now.
Im always so thrilled to see these great concert videos.. for all the shows I missed.. so great to be able to experience them.. even all these years later! GREAT!
In my opinion John Paul Jones was and is the most talented musician in Zeppelin. It's cool to see the surviving members rock out w/ Phil. Also, in the 80s Robert Plant had a pretty good run during this period as a solo artist w/ his albums "The Principle of Moments", which Phil Collins played drums on.. "Shaken N Stirred", and "Now and Zen."
@PickettMusic def! he is such a talented musician and plays so many different instruments. I feel like if Zep never dissolved or Bonham never died, JPJ and Plant would've took Zeppelin into a more commercially accessible musical direction that Plants solo career eventually went into w/ synthesizers. If you listen to Zeppelin's last album, in through the outdoor, it's already a glimpse of the direction they were going in entering into the 1980s.. and the composers and driving creative force behind that last album was JPJ and Robert Plant.
So true. His arrangements and musicianship made that band the studio powerhouse that it was. They never were a very good live band, though, in spite of Jonesy's skills. This performance really pissed me off at the time, cuz the bass was inaudible, and JPJ got almost no camera time, despite years of life as a recluse.
Too bad it didn’t succeed...this was AWFUL...Plant sounded really bad and Paige was high as giraffe pussy...was all over the place playing wise....sloppy
I've heard about how awful this performance is but this is the first time I've been able to see it. This is far from Led Zeppelin's best performance, but it's definitely not as bad as I was expecting.
Polyphonic Press The first song sucked, "Whole Lotta Love" was better, and "Stairway"...I thought it was just fine. Rock and roll isn't meant to be played "perfect", it should always have a bit of sloppiness to it when played live.
I keep hearing this was all Collins' fault. Er. Bollocks? And before you say it no, I'm REALLY not a fan. Page says they "didn't rehearse" - well, WHY? Are you saying he couldn't make it happen? Jimmy Page couldn't make it happen...ok. So...he can't play with a nuts drummer? I love JB....But that band played with him NUTS. I don't know what the truth is - sorry, to a Zep-loving ill-educated in drumming, well....Jimmy looked/sounded a bit shit/off his gourd. Blaming one a highly recognised drummer - sorry, he's a good drummer and probably grew up playing this song - and Bonham's SON??? Even if they HAD been shit, YOU make it work. Like JPJ and RP.
Good to see Phil playing the drum part correctly as it was actually recorded. Not many drummers get it right. Snare played on all beats and accented on the 3rd.
Ruby Tuesday You never heard Zep live then, ha, only time Bonzo and Zep ever played something actually as it was recorded was over the radio (album songs). . .. anything outside that was a free for all, and that's what made them top of the mountain.
@Cid L yes. Apparently they only had 30 min to rehearse before going onstage. Jimmy was ticked off because Phil didn't know how to play the intro to Rock n Roll
Was there in Philly! To those who have commented negatively let me give you a little bit of history on this epic day. Fact is that it took place during an extreme heat wave, there were people passing out all over the place, they finally called in local fire departments to assist by hosing down the crowd. It was an epic experience and the crowd was in awe!
From Wiki: "Phil Collins was the only artist to perform at both concerts. After his performance at Wembley Stadium, he flew to Philadelphia on the Concorde, where he played with, among others, Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton."
"Who needs rehearsals" they said, "Its like riding a bike" they said, "let's just get on stage and let the magic happen" they said, "Let's do a couple more lines before we go out" they said.
Good laugh full corn flakes and coke Phil Collins sounds like rattle in bins in a back yard with some chimps ahah l can’t stop giggling rock gods with clay feet
My heart sunk when Jimmys guitar was so out of tune. Live Aid's victors was Queen, it was a real changing of the guard seeing some 70's rock heavyweights fail to impress.
Zep had their good days and bad days, and this was certainly a bad one. However, they were a band full of love for all people and that's what makes them great. We had a dream.
@@MrJoeythebabykangaro I wish he would have kept on talking. It would have been more pleasant to listen to than the trainwreck that was this "performance".
@@euanelliott8068 i remember watching this big concert on MTV but they didn't show the zep's reunion with tony Thomson, (from "chic," and "power station,") and /or phil Collins (rumored to be subbing on drums for the late great bonzo himself,) after Collins was asked, he was flown in, from london, to Philadelphia, on an sst jet, or something...i remember watching that, on MTV....but the Zeppelin "reunion". was rumored, (only to be shown on ABC, on a tape delayed playback, broadcast)....and i bet a lot of people captured that, on their VCRs..(or betamax)...anybody still have an old VHS recording of the live aid concert, (when it was on MTV, and later broadcast on ABC?) or didn't VCRs come out yet, at the time?
@UC54a8JxzE5iHRICdItSiuyQ and this was only 5 years after bonzo himself, kicked the bucket,...and Zeppelin had to cancell a planned 1980 US tour, then they called it quits, because they couldn't go on without bonzo.
I saw this live on an old TV set in Minneapolis. I'd been listening to Zeppelin for years. Even carried a boombox on my shoulder with "The Song Remains The Same" on cassette cranked when I did the "Walk for Mankind" (eighteen miles) in '84. Everyone hoped that they would reunite, with Collins on drums. My heart and hopes sank when I saw this. It was the Götterdämmerung of Led Zeppelin.
LOL that's the problem with those high note singers. They sound great when they are young but most of them very quickly lose their ability to hit those highs. Thank goodness for recordings!
LED ZEPPELIN Collaboration double drummer Phil Collins & John Bonham .. Hi GUY'S Who still likes to listen to this song in 2022.. are you ready ?!? Rock Never Die 🤟🤩👍
Because he was completely addicted to heroin, as he often did between 1979 and 1986 ... He has always been a mediocre guitarist but under the hammer he is truly unlistenable!
This is what rock is all about guys. Good bad or ugly! No rehearsal- just going for it in front of millions of people. That takes balls. None of the autotuner/canned music acts today could do it.
Great song and band ! Wish we could have more bands now with that quality of writing and that freaking energy ! Good old times there or I'm getting too old for the new shit with no soul and balls :-). I bumped on one good song the other day, like to share the discovery. A shame they don't have more views given the great sound they deliver : @
@Vambo Roolz Agreed. There is plenty of blame to go around. But Collins’ playing wasn’t bad per se, just plain stupid. And for him to say “It wasn’t my fault, Page didn’t like me because I didn’t know the music” is self-incriminating.
let me guess jonsey? They were all good and essential parts of the band, but Mr. bass player, umm, no one but other bass players go to a concert to see the bass player, Robert and Jimmy were the front men, now if jonsey sang or had to put himself out there like Jimmy all the time where every so called expert guitar player and critic could find the slightest thing to rip you apart if you weren't prefect every time, then yeah jonsey would have had the camera on him more, it often was when he played piano
Yeah, well, on the down side, most people don't realise that if the drummer or bass player have a bad day then the whole band has a bad day, while if the singer or guitarist have a bad day, the rest of the band can still pull it off. The rhythm section are the unsung heros of rock. It's like the music in a movie; if the composer is doing his job then you don't notice it. If you do notice it then then the whole thing is fucked! On the up side, if you're in the rhythm section you can usually walk down the street and go to the supermarket without being mobbed. There are good sides and bad sides to everything... :-)
tina hakim during his solo career, he was smart enough to rely on the melodic parts of his voice. Burning down one side, 29 Palms, big log, there are plenty of songs where he makes use of his beautiful voice. But screaming and hollering and throwing his hair back was for the early seventies I agree. Not that kind of voice
Matthew McPeek- I completely agree, and he can throw his hair back and howl... to an extent. But he was one of the smart ones who adapted but never compromised. I love his current voice because his mid range is so full and vibrant. He can still do some vocal acrobatics, but applies them wisely.
yes your right and the main reason they will never tour again one night like o2 but night after night no way but god they are nearly 70 now just think of the good times and what they have given us
keefriff99 - And they took responsibility for this train wreck. Any interview given where this concert was mentioned, RP called it a "disaster." They really didn't practice. Page was finally straight after 10 years on dope. Plant's voice was as it always was a "hit or miss." They threw Phil Collins in that day for their drummer. Poke around ans watch some of the interviews on You Tube. They weren't kidding themselves. They did it for charity!
Adrianne Malden If this was Jimmy Page actually straight, and NOT completely off his head on whatever drug he was on, then he truly is an abysmally overrated guitarist.
@Lars A. : Here is the simple version: The drums have microphones placed around them. Those drum mics (the vocal mics, and mics placed in front of the guitar amps etc) are run out to the main board, usually seen out in the middle of the audience in such big shows. There the sound engineer mixes the sound so the audience hears it well, and sends it back to the amplifiers and speakers on either side of the stage.
Nothing other than a bunch of opinionated little c( )cksuckers on this thread. Your b(_)tt budd Collins is playing this song like complete sh:t...playing based on straight 1/8ths -simple 80s rock BS, no triplets or jam groove to his performance. Don't blame Jimmy for throwing this one intentionally, Collins doesn't deserve the stage with these legends.
With all due respect to Zeppelin and their undeniable genius, it was clear that they didn't rehearse at all. I would let it go if they didn't have the nerve to blame it on Phil Collins, and obviously he had no chance to rehearse with them either, it shows... which makes his acceptable performance an admirable feat, considering he played with other musicians that day either on other instruments or by singing, right after he crossed the atlantic, I doubt there are many who can pull that off. Also, if you think Phil couldn't pull off John Bonham's drumming I suggest you watch him live in 74-75 playing songs like The cinema show with Genesis, I honestly believe they are technically as demanding if not more demanding than whatever Bonham played with Zepp. All that was missing was rehearsal, had they done so not only would Collins had played right on Bonham's groove, but Plant and Page wouldn't have embarrassed themselves that day. My VERY unpopular opinion. Let the stoning begin I guess...
+Rodrigo de la Parra I'm not a rock musician, but your analysis seems pretty spot on. Collins is clearly an excellent drummer, but since he's the guy who sings "Against All Odds" and not the guy who played "Moby Dick", people are going to view this with pre-existing prejudices from the start. And it was likely pretty foolish to get him involved in this since he'd just stepped off the Concorde and likely had NO rehearsals on it.
+motorboat5150 Completely agree with you on every word, sadly enough. I won't deny that Phil sort of is to blame for all the hate he recieved by the rock scene, he freely stepped from being a rock drummer and singer in Genesis to being a mellow pop songwriter in his solo work, that sort of thing is bound to create conflict and controversy. Not that he shouldn't have done it, rather that he should have learned to deal with it and move on, something that clearly he wasn't able to cope with. As for the Zepp reunion I guess it all comes down to Live Aid holding to its promise of making miracles in every sense of the word. "Hey, we can save Africa from poverty and starvation, we can connect the whole world through satellite TV, why shouldn't we be able to reunite a legendary band?!" Mind you it could have been worse, at least there were no technical problems (appart from Page's phaser on his guitar, what the hell was it doing there anyway?) and from the sound engineer point of view being able to mount countless different bands and artists in a single day at the same venue is no small feat.
To be fair I don't think I've ever heard Robert Plant sing this song the way he sang it on the record. Here he seems to be putting more effort in to it than when I saw them in Vancouver during their tours to support Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti in the 70's. Then he just pranced around the stage, shook his hair and talked the lyrics all the while hoping the initial rush of the lights coming on and all the fans seeing their idols in the flesh would sell the song.
+idclolidk yeah this was around the time page did the ARMS benefit concert for Ronnie Lane and was stumbling ago i s stage. Ronnie Lane even looked healthier than Page.
+Tokiofritz I have to say so true about your comment but if your led zeppelin it just don't matter and people just don't care ,they would of all payed that much again to see this live
Like the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show (Which did sound better than this) People still need to look at certain moments in music history, in their proper contexts. To most of us in 1985 we didn't give two shits what Zeppelin sounded like at Live Aid when it was happening. It was about the good cause and the reunion of the surviving members. They hadn't been together in 6 years or been seen live on film or tv by the masses since the 76 film The Song Remains the Same. In 1985, 9 and 6 years, musically was a lot longer than it is today. Mtv had been huge for a few years at that point and Zeppelin seemed like they were from WAY back in the day, due to not having old videos to show, or any new ones because they weren't together anymore. There was no RUclips of course that allowed you to keep images fresh in your mind. You had old vinyl album covers to look at and old magazines. Even the Beatles got rotation on Mtv some with old clips from their movies and the Stones were making fresh stuff and having vids from the late 70s and early 80s being shown. It felt like forever since we had even seen Zeppelin Also, In those days Stairway was not as overplayed on radio, but played enough on it and in bedrooms that it was classic. It's clear that Page is doped up here and Plant hasn't practiced his heavy singing in a while and yes Collins didn't really seem to know the songs. But I'm telling you, I watched this live when I was 15 and it was a huge moment and everyone talked about it the next day. No one was ragging on them. Plus in those days, not long after this, people actually thought the Bowie/Jagger video of Dancing in the Streets was cool, lol. Crazy but true.
I heard an interview with Page and he said he butchered the song on purpose cause he was pretty pissed that Phil couldn't play the song. That's what brought me to watch this today. Robert really sounded bad too. I heard him recently trying to sing and he's pretty hurting. Jimmy can still play.
Dr. Emmet Brown They threw this reunion together because they were caught up in the moment of Live Aid. They had one rehearsal but that wasn't nearly enough for a band who didn't have their drummer anymore and who hadn't played together in 5 years. Add to that the sound on the stage was really bad so that the band could hardly hear themselves. I've read that Queen brought their own sound guys to make sure they sounded the best they could. Zep should have done the same instead of relying on the Live Aid crew. But Queen was a current band who had their own crew whereas Zep was not. But regardless, Plant hadn't sang rock songs in years and really needed to vocalize and maybe even have the songs played in a lower key, as was none on some of the 02 reunion gig or was done on some of the Song Remains the same footage, which was at the end of the tour and his voice was hurting.
Dr. Emmet Brown Makes no sense. Why would any musician make himself look bad purposely only because another wasn't up to snuff ? Easy to say later, I guess.
He didn't say that he played bad on purpose. He said he was really mad about the drumming and he didn't care anymore and it ended up being one of his worse live performances. But I agree, everyone was pretty bad that night. I've watched the video a few times. Collins was way off on that song. When the drums are off then the rest of the band is off.
Price Pittsburgh You're right, no one gave a damn what they sounded like that night. The mighty Zeppelin was back on stage and everyone in the world wanted to see it.
Damn I miss that man's groove. RIP Tony. Poor Phil is having a hell of a time keeping up. Shame about the car accident, because Tony in Zeppelin may well have kicked ass on record.
really dont want to sound mean ...but a drug addicted , satanic worshipping , (allegedly ) underage groupie groper is not my idea of a icon to be adored ....great player - but his art aside ...not impressed - In this clip - his guitar sounds drenched in muddy reverb and chorus pedal effect ....just awful...apart from that - what have the romans ever done for us ????
Don't see where this is Phil's fault. And for those that say Phil isn't s great drummer, I'd suggest you listen to some 70s Genesis, especially live. Him by himself and his duets with Chester Thompson are awesome (see: the Apocalypse in 9/8 section of Supper's Ready from Seconds Out)
John Paul Jones wins man of the match for this performance, flawless as usual and held the train wreck together. Phil tried hard and I thought was passable given the circumstances. Plant was out of shape. Page was horrible - he sounds like a 10 year old practicing electric guitar and his new toy phaser pedal in his bedroom.

We finally realized it was him halfway through the set(we were in the back of the stadium. ) It was a memorable show. Clapton was great, the Beach Boys also. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young reunited also, but for some reason all the Led Zeppelin fans ended up with tickets.
Well at least JPJ nailed the bass
I can’t hear him on my iPhone so I have nothing to complain😂

Page still rockin it!!
hey the ethipian thing that's something else the performance was awful mostly cause the drummers (more than no one else collins couldn't get anything right his times were wrong all the time his playing was quite shitty it was his fault that this ''so called'' reunion happened to be hideous!
sal economos Why didn't you just buy tickets? I would have crawled over broken glass too. They are awe inspiring band.
Even though Page hated this performance....the crowd loved them anyway.
I doubt Led Zeppelin would have had time to rehearse.
it is spectacular and highlights via contrast their greatest days - and those were great days
Bearing in mind Phil Collins had performed at Wembley the same day then caught Concorde to fly to the USA for this performance in Philly with no rehearsal and jet-lagged he did quite well!! As for Robert, ....well.
And what was the point of Phil playing both stages? Oh yeah, none. Ego. It's not all about you Phil?
Propper out the head
And Brian Jones of Rolling Stones.
Agreed. JPJ is the secret weapon...
@@myself1943 what are you referring to when you say Brian Jones?
Even the mic stand was trying to stop this. 2:13
LOL
😂
Haha ha
Too bad it didn’t succeed...this was AWFUL...Plant sounded really bad and Paige was high as giraffe pussy...was all over the place playing wise....sloppy
Funniest comment.
+motorboat5150 Rock n Roll was so bad. Phil Collins was the best musician on that song lol.
+idclolidk .....AAAHHH....did you not see John Paul Jones there with them?
it's really not that bad. I agree. and Collins sounds good.
Jimmy was livid at Phil over his playing on this tune. Said Phil got it wrong.
@@DG-sf9ei FYI I saw them at Knebworth in ‘79.
Collins got the intro wrong and things went downhill from there.
Sorry to correct you. Led Zeppelin only played in Philly. The only one who played in both locations was Phil Collins
From Wiki:
"Phil Collins was the only artist to perform at both concerts.

As usual the best man in the band is forgotten by the camera's
let me guess jonsey? They were all good and essential parts of the band, but Mr. bass player, umm, no one but other bass players go to a concert to see the bass player, Robert and Jimmy were the front men, now if jonsey sang or had to put himself out there like Jimmy all the time where every so called expert guitar player and critic could find the slightest thing to rip you apart if you weren't prefect every time, then yeah jonsey would have had the camera on him more, it often was when he played piano
in LZ, John Paul Jones played bass, keyboards, mandolin, rhythm guitar and acoustic guitar. But you are right, people are clueless.
There are good sides and bad sides to everything...

robert plant's voice has been holding on for dear life since 1972
It’s true
Steven Kolar- Just because he cannot hit the high notes doesn't mean he can't sing. He's been in fine voice on his Carry Fire Tour.
tina hakim during his solo career, he was smart enough to rely on the melodic parts of his voice.
He can still do some vocal acrobatics, but applies them wisely.
yes your right and the main reason they will never tour again one night like o2 but night after night no way but god they are nearly 70 now just think of the good times and what they have given us
The blame for this entire debacle falls squarely on Page and Plant.
keefriff99 - And they took responsibility for this train wreck.
And Page still has the nerve to blame Collins for this shambles.
Horrible sounding guitar effect Page is the one that is having a bad gig.
Right?? Phil was the only one keeping it together. Plus the sound man needed to never work again with all the feedback. Sad!
@@divanymph Actually Phil`s drums are switched off, you hear Tony Thompson.
Then he just pranced around the stage, shook his hair and talked the lyrics all the while hoping the initial rush of the lights coming on and all the fans seeing their idols in the flesh would sell the song.
check out a recording from 1971 or 1972, he nails it during those years

You're right.
Tony Thompson kicking butts on the drums.
Damn I miss that man's groove. RIP Tony. Poor Phil is having a hell of a time keeping up. Shame about the car accident, because Tony in Zeppelin may well have kicked ass on record.
For context guys, this was supposed to be their “endgame” moment back in the day
OMG! THIS HURTS MY FEELINGS.
I guess robert plants skinny jeans is straining his voice lol
lol I love them all but this was not good.
Robert plant always wore tight jeans, there was no such thing as skinny jeans in the 70's.
@@ep9421 its a joke.
😂
Except he was wearing "slacks" at this show
Robert Plant really embraced the 80's!
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
so cool
I love Jimmy Page. What a wild man. His life’s ups and downs on display for the world to see. Makes him vulnerable. Always a legend.
really dont want to sound mean ...but a drug addicted , satanic worshipping , (allegedly ) underage groupie groper is not my idea of a icon to be adored ....great player - but his art aside ...not impressed - In this clip - his guitar sounds drenched in muddy reverb and chorus pedal effect ....just awful...apart from that - what have the romans ever done for us ????
Jimmy Page best Guitar Player with Richie Blackmore..I love both...Great 😁
@@TheMichaelseymour HEIL SATAN WORSHIP DOOM!!!
I remember watching this live and we couldn't understand why Jimmy got into a fight with that mic stand at the beginning of this song... ;)
Don't see where this is Phil's fault.
And for those that say Phil isn't s great drummer, I'd suggest you listen to some 70s Genesis, especially live. Him by himself and his duets with Chester Thompson are awesome (see: the Apocalypse in 9/8 section of Supper's Ready from Seconds Out)
he doesn't know how to play Zeppelin's songs as in he did not practice them
He is more than adequate here. Page was f'd up off his ass and Plant decided he didn't want to warm up his voice, but it's Phil Collins' fault?
Phil is one of the best drummers EVER.
No blame can be put at the feet of Collins.
You are correct sir, but I did think it was supposed to be Plant, Collins, Clapton originally.
Was meant to be Page,Plant,Collins,Clapton,Mercury,Knopfler,Lynott, Lennon, Holly, Big Bopper,Berry,Brown,Sting, Hendrix, Fish, Gabriel, Morrison, McCartney, Richards, Jagger, Prince,Madonna, Belafonte, Emerson,Lake,Palmer,Wonder,Sensible,Lemmy and Haysi Fantayzee but a big enough mini bus couldn’t be located......fact, my brother was the roadie before he was incarcerated in the Juggins-Willard Psychiatric Unit being treated for paranoidal delusion fantasies .
El Cuento it sounded like they where in a hurry to get out of there???
I agree El Cuerto. John Paul shpuld be man of the match. He's Led Zep's secret weapon. Quiet, but extremely efficient.
This is the most insightful comment here.
Great clip! Thank you!
