  • Peter gets asked about all the different styles of clamshell lighting he does quite regularly, and RaRa came in to the studio with an idea of recreating the lighting from an old shoot of Peter's using two gridded beauty dishes, so we filmed this tutorial showing how to get the effect.

I just ran into your channel. I am more a nature photographer, since I was a kid actually. But I've done some model and portrait photography. Most of the models I've photographed the shoots were outdoors. Some of the ladies were more of the SG types or punkish/goth.Skateboard parks, graffiti spots, but also forest type, waterfalls, etc. Most of my work is stuck on an external hd that until Maxtor makes a patch for I cannot use on any OS above 7.
I'm always wanting to learn more of all of these types of photography and photo editing. I do not use Lightroom but Corel Paint Shop Pro 2003 Extreme, because I am also a graphic artist and love their fractal and other tools.
Like how you adjust skin tones for bw with blue. And yeah the having to change points is a pain.
What a studio set up too. Love it, but sure could not take it backpacking unless I got a sled and solar power system, though I supppse at waterfalls I could use a hydro source.
    Glad I found your channel.

@B: Many thanks for filming this session; it is grateful to know you are, at least, behind the video camera, when you cannot be in front on it.
@R: Many thanks for posing in this session. Could you do me a favor? Please curse those who dare to take that smile off your face. P mentioned you have an ongoing project in GR (?), I wish you the highest success; when you come back there, if you have the chance to meet up again with Zeus up there, on Olympus, please remind him that it was a big mistake that he let you go, remind him that he also made the mistake of being unable to appreciate the beauty he had in front of his eyes; and finally tell him that you are not willing to stay up there, on Olympus, where you were born, that being with humans, down in earth, was the best thing that has ever happened to you, because the gaze of humans is deeper than that of gods.
@P: Many thanks for bringing R once again to this channel. Regarding the lighting configuration I thought there was nothing better that a beauty dish, but I see that I was wrong, two is better, and even better if they are in clam shell configuration. It has been very good to demo the adjustment configuration panel. I have similar buttons in my software. There’s something that I have never seen you do, but I always do: when I select the photography I prefer, I do several adjustments and exports, then in the file system, once I have several images (based on the one I selected), I do two by two comparison and I select the ones I prefer, then I make new adjustments in additional iterations; this means I don’t have a solid criteria in advance to decide what is the desired adjustment; and I think this is becoming a bad habit. BTW: I think the photographs in this session are better in color.

Its a little different outdoors than in a studio where you can directly adjust lighting in all kinds of ways, but once you get the scene dialed in? The shots after are much better.
