While a DJ in the early 60's Sly produced a band called The Beau Brummels. Their hit "Laugh Laugh" was the first top 40 folk rock hit by an American group (before The Byrds). Wherever you are Sly, thank you and be happy.
@@sharksport01 Maybe, but it was the beginning of the genre that became known as folk rock. They were the first American band to have a hit in that style. Then The Byrds hit number one and lots of acts (Mamas and Papas, The Turtles, Simon and Garfunkel, Sonny and Cher, etc.) followed.
“Everyday People” is a very personal favorite along with “Family Affair” as a millennial in my early thirties. I have such an appreciation for the oldies, classic rock, and so forth. They don’t make music nowadays like they used to. ✨ Being a former foster child/teen and ultimately adopted opened me up to so many things including various types of music becoming well rounded. Thanks to the many who had a hand in my upbringing, especially my adopted mom who recently not too long ago passed. Whom I miss so deeply & very much, she’ll always be the mom, I never had. 💔❤️🩹💔Wishing Sly the absolute continuous best.✨
I was just recently thinking about Sly Stone, and wondering how he was doing. So glad to hear that he is doing well and surrounded by his loving family members. Also glad to hear about his new book! He is certainly Blessed!!
Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge the thought that goes into creating the Sunday Morning illustrations that appear at the end of each and every post?
Sly & the Family Stone…the most influential group of my youth. At 8 years old they shaped my politics, my attire and my cultural and world perspective. I can’t say enough about the importance of 🎼Everyday People🎼 and how it changed me when I first heard it on the radio. 🎼 There’s a Riot Going on🎼 was the very first album I ever purchased. Yea, they were EVERYTHING!
That's what I call a feel good story. I wondered whatever happened to Sly. Warms heart to know that his family (or should I say families?) did not desert him. Thank you, Sly for the groove you lent my adolescence.
So much great music infused with a great message from Sly. Sobriety is an accomplishment on it's own for those who've struggled with substances. He truly is a musical icon.🤘🏼
If you're fortunate to have the revelation, one "graduates" from drugs and gets to experience the clean high of just living.... no coke, no fet, no oxy, no acid, no pot, no alcohol, no vap, no cigs........ It's amazing how much better life is when one is clean and sober. I don't regret my past life, because it led me to this one. I hope Sly is experiencing the same natural high.
One of the world's groovy people! And from everyday people, too! Respect! His music and style taught me to love music and the arts!!! Many thanks!!! Luv ya, Sly!

My husband is one of SLY’s biggest fans. We’ve been married for 31 years and dated 9 before we got married, and it has always been Sly. Thank you Falettinme be Mice Elf Again 🫶🏾
I wondered what happened to Sly Stone, wonderful artist. Mom played Everyday People all the time. His biracial band a clear influence on Prince. Glad his daughters looked out for this visionary. Look forward to Sly's memoir!
Drugs is what happened to Sly, he doesn't really comunicate well anymore, thats why he declines interviews. The last interview he did when he was living in the camper van he was pretty much incoherent. Really I think his family shields him from the public, its probably for the best. His family is doing a good job protecting him, and his legacy. But I'm sure it was major challenge putting this memoir together. He's still fighting to get some of his royalties, the memoir should get him some badly needed funds. But without him doing interviews and public appearances its going to be harder to sell.
The best part is that he is alive and clean for 4 years. With a family that obviously loves him. Keep it up Mr. Stone.

Saw them in 1973 in Puerto Rico...they blew the stage with their powerful music, a timeless band with a very innovative sound.
I was just recently thinking about Sly Stone, and wondering how he was doing. So glad to hear that he is doing well and surrounded by his loving family members. Also glad to hear about his new book! He is certainly Blessed!!
Not only did I love his music….it had a message, and I loved it then and I love it now.
Still since I was a little kid I loved his music. I still love his message through his music. He's loved by me for one.❤
When I met you in the 70's you were a great inspiration. You always have been!
Sly! I still listen to Sly and the Family Stone's music to this day. ❤
Surprised they didn't show footage from Woodstock. They were on effing FIRE during their set.
The Woodstock performance was a show stopper highlight of that festival. It’s a must see.
Massively underrated artist
I love you Sly Stone, growing up with your music was meaningful and fun all at the same time.
...bless you sir.
One of the world's groovy people! And from everyday people, too! Respect! His music and style taught me to love music and the arts!!! Many thanks!!! Luv ya, Sly!
Thank you for the best music!
When I was growing up in the 60s 70s in San Francisco, his music was so great, it was changing the world. And I loved that about him and his band. I’m glad he’s still here. I still listen to his music.
I've always loved his music. Definitely want to hear his new stuff!!
Always loved the great fun music he made. Everyone sang and danced to his Music for decades.
have loved him for forever: and if you ever find yourself down, fresh out of hope, put on his greatest hits and you'll be all right again. magic, he is--and a genius beyond.
If there are any of Sly's family that are reading this and still have contact with him please tell him that his music is still being enjoyed by alot of people today. Thank you, you have forever fans. Can't wait to read the book. Hope there is also a audible version ❤
Yes,Truth Indeed AMEN 🙏
Yes please tell him i love him❤❤ and stay well
Everybody is a Star ⭐ One of my favorite songs by Sly and the Family Stone. So many great memories. Was a teenager when I first heard it.
My favorite song is Hot Fun in the Summertime. I was just a toddler when I first heard the song.
Sly and the family Stone are absolutely legendary!
Way before there were the Black Eye Peas! There was Sly & his Family Stone! Love this Band! Those incredible hits! Tremendous & Great feel good songs! CBS & Quest Love & Kids Thanks for posting & putting this altogether, Sly's legacy will live on forever
The Black Eye peas wish they were Sly and The Family Stone,in their dreams.
Luv ya Sly. Your music kept me sane back in the day
I'm 65. White. I loved Sly and his music! Still do! Thanks for an update on my man Sly!😎
Gorgeous & Gifted. Come back to us Sly. We miss you.
One of the greatest bands ever!
That daughter in the middle seems so strong- sounds to me like she saved his life.
"The blood's thicker than the mud"
Genius
That’s Cynthia’s daughter with him
Sounds like the guardian of the family...the matron
It's wonderful to acknowledge that my boy has found his peace. Drugs is not a place for peace. I've been on that dangerous road myself. I hope to come across his path while I'm out here on the west side. Tell him how much I appreciate his contributions & he's one of the reasons I became one hell of an audio engineer....! Big kudos to Q.... haven't seen you since The Time 100... congrats on this! Love ya...
This segment was soo interesting. I watched it 3 times.😅 I ❤'d your music growing up. Other than Sly, Cynthia stood out the most. I had never seen a woman play the trumpet 🎺
“As long as Sly Stone is breathing, I consider that, OK”. Wow, they’re all so guarded of him, but I am so glad that he is getting his rightfully due “flowers”. My husband is one of SLY’s biggest fans. We’ve been married for 31 years and dated 9 before we got married, and it has always been Sly. Thank you Falettinme be Mice Elf Again 🫶🏾
Truth Indeed AMEN 🙏
Yes god bless him he made it to 80❤
Sly was like a shooting star across the musical sky.
May GOD Bless That Man and his Family
