- Director Martin Scorsese's latest film is an adaptation of David Grann's bestseller of early 20th century Oklahoma, about a scourge of suspicious deaths of members of the Osage tribe who had become fabulously wealthy because of their oil rights. Correspondent Lee Cowan talks with Scorsese, Grann, and with stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone, about truthfully representing the Osage and the reign of terror.

Lily Gladstone is definitely a frontrunner for the Best Actress at the Oscars.
Lily Gladstone did her thing with the energy of a woman. The sympathy, empathy, questions, and forgiveness is jaw dropping! I was stunned to see the spirit of the Osage women. They knew everything that was going on in the area but remained themselves. I was overwhelmed with certain scenes.
Martin Scorsese is the greatest living motion picture director. Honored to go see this film on the big screen.
You need to see more movies.

Martins Scorsese is a real blessing for the movie industry. His way of storytelling , his work’s ethics. The greatest of all time.

The entire film was captivating. Such an excellent cast and director to honor the Osage people and their legacy.
I really look forward to this movie, not just because of Scorsese, Di Caprio and De Niro, but because it’s telling a story of a piece of history that has sadly been overlooked or ignored for so long.
Are we living in the same timeline? Because in the timeline I’m from it’s pretty much a cliche at this point to portray white men as usurers and Native Americans as easygoing and innocent victims.

What an artist. The love he has for films and how he talks about them. We are so lucky to witness his creation.
This story needs to be told to every American. There is no sugarcoating the real evil and greed that, arguably, is inherent in all of us. By learning these uncomfortable truths, we can understand how to become better human beings
I learned today that because of changes to Oklahoma law, it's now illegal to teach this story in schools. That's astounding.

This movie is a masterpiece! Once more a masterpiece from the greatest and most important director of our time
I'm 71 yrs old ...... born and raised in Oklahoma and cannot wait to see this movie.
I read the book years ago and tried to share it with friends. In our oil fields in Illinois the Carter oil company drilled our wells.
My family has oil rights from the 30s when my grandparents discovered oil on their property.
Carter oil was one of the companies guilty of murders by some of the employees. So tragic and even horrendous.
This story breaks my heart. I have a friend who is Osage and he gets an oil check every three months from his Fathers Headright. He never mentioned this history to me before.
Many will disagree, but Scorsese is one of the only qualified people to tell this story today. Already I'm hearing complaints about how this story isn't black and white, white and red, evil and good or sinners and saints. In other words, it's a real movie.
Straight up.. it seems people expect too much these days..

Seems Hollywood chooses who's history to distort and who's to be truthful and careful with.

Great film. It's a tough watch and I felt ill afterwards, but a story that needs to be heard .

I read the book and am glad they are doing a movie because most people won't read it , but the story needs to be told. I just hope they do the story and the Osage Nation justice.

Such a disturbing part of our Nation's history. That far too people know. I grew up in Oklahoma and was married to a native American. We were not taught this history in school. The book was so moving and downright scary. As glad as I am that more people will see this film, I'm not sure I can watch the violence myself. Makes my heart hurt.
I understand. I will be personally choosing to skip this film because I don't wish to see the violence this film will contain. I will keep an eye out for the plot summary tho and more reviews as they come out. I'll add the book to my reading list

There is a lot of dark incidents in American History that have not been told or tucked away or sugar coated because a few people in power thought it makes America looks bad, why this country is so dysfunctional at times.

Could only watch part of the film....it is so intense.....It should have not happened the way it did but wealthy families thru history have fought and murdered....
Incredible that this dark disturbing history is finally being told to the general audience. Plus Grann's excellent book only came to be by happenstance.

The book was incredible. Super excited to see this movie this weekend
Got a buddy that worked on this movie, he was in Oklahoma for six months total. Said the shooting was hard but a lot of fun as well. DiCaprio is apparently nice but doesn’t talk so much and takes his craft super super serious. Same with De Niro. Scorsese is a little more relaxed and likes to joke around a bit. But it’s ofc depended on the day and what type of scenes they were shooting.
Scorsese spent a good deal of his childhood in bed, being sick.
I think he knows that life is precious and he tends to make the most of it.
He’s one of the greatest directors of all time, in my opinion.
Everybody go support this at the cinema so they make more big budget dramas like this. Can’t wait.
Mr Scorcese is amazing, still acting and directing at age 80, on a film with a huge physical element to it, and obviously still be every bit as sharp as he was while making Taxi Driver 50 years ago - the man's extraordinary, a legend of American cinema.
Truly one of the most brilliant films ever made! Spectacular, beautiful and sad. Lily Gladstone should win every award!
Wonderful that this story is finally being told. Also, glad that members of the Osage tribe will be behind as well as in front of the cameras. Looking forward to seeing the actual movie.
All history, go or bad should be told from the side of the victims.
One sided history isn’t history, whatever the perspective.
Much respect to Scorsese for being as respectful and accurate telling the story as possible. I read the book and it’s a brutal and ugly story in our nation’s history. He could so easily have whitewashed this, but he chose to work with the people whose families and communities lived this and were affected by these events. That speaks to his character, integrity, and professionalism.

Thank you for this. I just learned of this film today from some friends here in Stroud, OK who were talking about going to see it. I retired to Route 66 in Oklahoma in 2021 and have a lot to learn about its history. I’m thrilled this story is being told!

I’ve told so many people to go out and see this film but it’s hard to tell people who just see this film as “not their sort of thing to watch” this is such an important piece of history that’s been hidden away and I’m so glad they have made this film
For me, I need to be in the right mood so I don't feel worse than I already feel, not that the movie needs to sugarcoat anything, but sometimes people can find it too much at once
This is a movie that isn't for everyone. It's 3.5 hours long. It's about telling the story and giving the Osage people their proper respect. People will complain about it because it's not entertaining enough. I don't think the purpose was as to entertain us. It was to tell the horror in human history.
I just watched Flowers of the Killer Moon in the theater, it is a wonderful movie and more so that it is based on a true story.

This is why the banning of books should be against the laws of the United States of America. Some governors may be able to ban books, in their states, but they will never be able to erase the truth of history.
The only book banning I’ve seen has only been of pornographic materials peddled to children at schools and in libraries. Anyone who disagrees with this needs to be locked up for life.

Well, in my eyes this Film has already succeeded. Just watching the trailer gets me all teared up. I can say that when a story so tragic as this comes to the big screen it is hard towatch in a movie theatre amongst a bunch of strangers.
I didn't use to feel this way but as I have grown older and experienced or rather...become more mature and wise enough to recognize certain attitudes that aren't always favorable against other ethnic groups--and even as regrettably the climate (political), some people tend to lump all ethnicities into one big group and just look down on so many--there is now a recognition and a need to be more protective of my own emotions as they tend to get used against me by certain people--getting to a point here is that it is painful to watch something so heavy and so meaningful in a public setting.
Knowing that my own emotions and reactions are going to be judged. Then it becomes an awareness that overtakes the real feelings and I now have to be guarded and can't truly feel how I feel. Or show how i feel.
Anyway, I want this Movie to do well so very much so!

As for that CoolKat Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio is he just so Sweet or what? He IS. When i see him in this role its almost as if he captured the pain-horror-the loss and these crimes and he molded his facial features into such contortions as to show those feelings and then he added ignorance-refusal to see the pain and crimes and then...he fell in love with Mollie! Woah..thats a lot of stuff!
I want this film to do well because I know he has put so much of his Heart and Soul into it. Same for Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro. Everyone should read the book first. It’s been around for years. You’ll probably go through it within a day or two. It’s such a page-turner.

I read the book and it's fantastic. David Grann is search a great novelist. Non-fiction genius. I know Scorsese and this cast is gonna bring it to life beautifully. Can't wait to see it.
I've lived 45 minutes from Pawhuska my whole life (52) and I'd never heard these stories. But then again, we weren't taught about the Tulsa race massacre either.

OK has several dark periods that I didn't know about before -- Black Wall Street and this. A lot of states do. This is why history is important -- the kind that is not whitewashed.
Hopefully this will shine a light on the Osage the same way HBO's Watchman shined a light on the Tulsa massacre

Looks beautiful and authentic. Might be Killers Of The Bladder Moon with the runtime (The Irishman was punishingly long too) but will see for cinematography, costumes, Robertson soundtrack and Leo speak in Osage, "Is my ticket to Ibiza and next twenty-four year old Czech gf ready?"
My trick for watching long movie, especially a highly anticipated one, is to go to the bathroom before the movie starts and limit the how much I eat and drink both before I see the movie and while I’m watching the movie.
Please also watch it for the atrocities committed against the Native Americans and for the important piece of history that has been overlooked so far. The book is a worthwhile read too.

The main character of the movie is my husband's great uncle and he was named after him. According to my husband, his great uncle was pure evil.
Byron married my gr-gr-aunt lillie morrell. Yes, him and ernest were terrible people. The atrocities didn't end in the 20s. It went on 40 years later.

Scorsese is one of the few remaining pure filmmakers who stand against corporate influence. He garnered major respect from with his film Kundun, which was banned in China for telling the story of the Dalai Llama.

Lily Gladstone is AMAZING in this movie. You can't help but embrace and love her. I will have to go see this film a 2nd time. If you ever get a chance, go to Fairfax Oklahoma and stand in the middle of Main St. you must stand there and imagine those events as they happened there back in the early 2920's. You won't have to worry about being in traffic. I did this and was overcome with sadness for the Osage people that suffered through those years. You actually can still feel it.
