  • In this video I show how I make an adjustable sliding canoe seat for my cedar strip prospector canoe. This video is part of my extensive canoe building video playlist.
I've wanted to upgrade the front seat of my Prospector Canoe for years. Making a canoe seat that is adjustable will add value, provide a better paddling experience for the person at the front of the boat and also allow me to trim the weight of the canoe better.
I think the adjustable canoe seat turned out pretty nice. Let me know what you think.
    Thanks for watching 🙂

Very informative. Thank you. Where did you source the clips for the seats? How for forward of the stern of the boat did you fasten the stern seat?

    Great project Jason 😁👍🏻
Have you ever made a removable backrest ? for a canoe 🛶 … and perhaps made a video about that.
If not … could you consider making a video about it 😊
Happy Easter 🐣 to you and your family from Denmark

What are those brackets you attached to the seat arms that slide along the rails? Where did you get them?

pretty cool seat system. I may have missed something...how do you tighten and loosen the clamps on the seat to adjust it...or does it just slide without loosening the screws?
Years ago a friend was into building cedar strip canoes...I borrowed his book and made a couple seats my fibreglas one...easy and much better than the wood slat seat that came in the canoe. Fun doing the caning too...used plastic cane and it worked great.

Great video. How do you stop the seat from sliding forward and backwards while you are paddling? Is your body weight enough when you are fighting a current or trying to back paddle in rapids?

What are the brackets? Is there a source for them, or are they shop made?

How do the seats not slide around involuntarily with that rig? I would think some kind of screw clamp would be needed...?

What keeps it from sliding when you don't want it to?
