Did You know that the only tool maker to sell batteries that charge quicker than running flat is Hilti? And it's been like that for over 10 years? Only Bosch is catching up now witch new rapid charger for core batteries (4ah battery 10% charged in 10mins). 18v 12ah battery from milwaukee and dewalt =216Wh of energy and both take nearly 2hours to charge. Bosch core 18v 12ah 216Wh and about an hour to charge. Biggest capacity 18650 lithium cells battery on the market? -Of course Hilti. Hilti 9ah 316wh -charging time is 56 minutes. Hilti is another league and none gets near. When it comes to make money on site only Hilti gets the job done that's for sure. Purpose of work in construction -quickest,safest and most comfortable way to make good money. Only hilti can make You and save You money. The money You make is enough to live and own hilti tools. You buy cheap - You buy at least twice the same thing. Buy Hilti - problem solved :)
@@seanhammer6296 My pleasure ;) Altrough about 50% of Hilti tools are made in China I can still believe it's under strict control of Liechtenstein's employees as company is still owned by Hilti Schaan. This way of manufacturing allows for some tools to be sold much cheaper than in the past. Remaining 50% of producion seems to be mainland Europe (Germany,Austria, Poland, Slovakia,Liechtenstein )-It's usually more expensive drills,nailers,batteries and chargers. It's a mark of its own where Milwaukee together with Ryobi and other tool makers belongs to Techtronic industries (unsure about spelling)with company registered at German address but not certainly German owned - Can't make it as a fact though. It's a pity that Milwaukee is not what it used to be in USA but I must agree that their tools are becoming hype for masses. I owned some new era Milwaukee tools. They are good but not designed to last longer than 2 - 3 yrs while on warranty. This is due to its price. It's much harder to develop long life tool like Hilti for half the price (Not enough tests,design,materials used?). This is only my personal opinion.

Man, I'm new to hvac so I'm just starting to get tools. I chose milwaukee as my power tool line of choice. This video is helping me to choose a charger.
i have a M12 tool that came with a charger & 4 amp hour battery..not sure which charger it is but it charges the battery in 30 min...charges the 2.0 amp hour in 20 min....rapid chargers are for the jobsite...standard charger is for home use where you can leave it on the charger all week.
The rapid charger charges with 6A vs. regular charger charges at 3A. The doubled current from the rapid charger will charge battery much faster but at the expenses of shortening battery useful life. I would rather buy one more battery and charge them slowly than to replace a whole bunch of pre-maturely dead battery.
standard charger charges batteries at 3Amp where rapid charger charges at 6Amp 21700 batteries can handle that where might be a bit stress for 18650 batteries due to the heat builds up.
Or simply just get hilti instead. 36v 9ah with 316wh charges in 56mins. Milwaukee 18v 12ah with 216Wh takes more than 2 hours and when it's ready it's still 216Wh instead of 316wh in hilti battery. Both batteries cost similar . You get what You pay for.

I have multiple chargers and batteries so we just put them in rotation I think it might be more significant if you just have two batteries maybe. But we run five or six with 2 regular chargers it works for us but but we do like the idea for sure.
Yo I've been telling Vince to get the Rapid Charging Station for a long time. I have it and it's worth it. Especially for him since he has a working crew. I charge about 6 - 7 M18 batteries in no time. Also M12 batteries are super quick on the Rapid Station.
It’s not the same charge in my findings I had two brand new batteries out of the pack . 1 placed on regular charger, 1 on rapid Rapid turned green way faster, but when I swapped the batteries to opposite chargers, the one from the regular charger that wasn’t done showed all green too on the Rapid And the battery that was on the Rapid 1st didn’t show to be fully charged on the regular charger I think it’s just charging to a predetermined safe for use zone, not to full. Sorry for the run on novel
@@rrcoster I think it depends on the size, a 4.0 in my opinion is the bare minimum for this charger. If you have more cells it'll take longer to degrade them.
So you know how the molded case combos usually come with the regular chargers? If I go buy a rapid charger will it still fit in the molded case where the regular charger goes?
Doesn't the regular charger do a better job. As in more recharges = longer battery life. As where the rapid charger sure it's way faster but not good for the life of the battery= buy more batteries.
I know I'm referencing an electric car company here and we're taking tools, but Tesla is a world leader in battery technology. The science from Tesla is that quick charging will degrade your battery life as it generates heat, so supercharging your car isn't recommended for everyday, just on long trips generally speaking. It's why the Milwaukee rapid charger has a fan to cool the battery. Of course, if you run a company and need battery power immediately for your tools then quick charging is a must. Otherwise, charging slowly improves the life of your battery whether it's your car or a tool. There is a trade off as with everything in life. I knew very little about construction just a few years ago, but after self contracting my own home and participating in every aspect of building it, I've become an advid DIYer and really appreciate your videos. Yes I did around an hour and 35 minutes with the rapid charger. And right at 3 hours with standard charger. Note on some older smaller batteries they will not charge any faster in the rapid charger and how you know is it will not have a lightning bolt on the top of the battery. If your battery has a lightning bolt on the top it will charge faster with the rapid charger.
Little known fact that I will share with the VCG. I have NEVER bought a charger!!!! Ever!!!!! Matter of fact! I gave one away today. I barely buy batteries in addition to the ones that come with the tool.

bought my rapid charger on eBay. genuine charger for $40 so if you don't need it today and can wait a few days for delivery you can get it for half price or less
The faster you charge a battery the weaker it will get. Like a car battery on low (slower) vs high (faster) but you can make more money to buy batteries so depends on what a person wants in the long run.
What could make a interesting video is does you 12/18 fast/regular charger charge and faster or slower if you have 1 battery on it or if both slots are filled.
Not so fast there bud. I recently had to replace my regular charger and the only one available at the time was the rapid charger. I only charged my 6ah battery once but I think it fully discharged a lot quicker (I could be wrong about that) and I'm not sure if the rapid charge is harder on the batteries. As a rookie DIYer who uses Milwaukee tools (2 drills & a Jig) with a pair of basic M18 batteries & regular charger (that came with the drills). I've been considering upgrading to higher capacity batteries to get more done during daylight hours, but this video has tempted me to look into getting the rapid charger first. A large battery won't help much if it takes too long to charge.
1 1/2 hours to charge a 5.0 Milwaukee battery that is junk. My Makita combo kit came with 2 - 5.0 battery and takes 40 minutes to charge with the standard charger that came with the kit. I rest my case Makita is top of the line. Jump on the Makita train very cool gang. Peace

Just bought an oscillating tool from Home Depot and it came with 1.5 ah battery this rapid charger and a bag with extra blades for $120 bucks. Don’t buy the charger just look for a tool combo deal
Mine hisses and smells like burnt wires. Is this normal? It's only charged two batteries so I know new wires always have that small but I don't hear the fan kicking on? I've had so many issues with milwaukee batteries and now the charger. Don't let these batteries become fully dead. They'll lose memory and won't accept a charge. It's so normal that HD doesn't ask questions.

Normal charger 1 hour 37 min.
Rapid charger 54 min.
Other approach is to have two batteries and swap them up on your regular charger. Also a soft charge is always better to prolong battery life.
Where did you learn this? Modern fast chargers or even super chragers do not damage lifespan. Google it

Got the rapid charge for 40 on offer up 2 years, still works like a champ.

Very very good point! And with inventory and logistic issues, I'd say slower is better.

The difference in time with the 9.0 amp hour battery is about an hour and a half faster with the rapid charger
