I have three of these; Moon, Uranus and Mars. Swapped the straps for Bark & Jack natos and match them to my work shirts. No breakages, couple of tiny scratches and lots of compliments. Casual Friday is for my actual Speedmaster and I love them all.

You don’t want to dedicate time for the watch, yet you have made an entire video on it, months after the hype has completely died out. I think there are people who love it, and people who hate it. And the world is big enough to fit both of them… :)

Hit the nail on the head with this one. If they didn't flip flop about being available online and didn't have them costing 2x what they should I think it would be fair. But at £250 I'll buy a Seiko 5 thanks
It's not garbage, it looks nice, it is comfotable and it lasts a long time. Replacing the watch costs less than servicing a watch so it is a win win. It is disposable and that's OK. The snobby way it is being marketed is crap though, the whole artificial scarcity is silly, the whole thing is ridiculous. But that's the world we live in.
Without artificial scarcity this would quickly be a $60 watch.
For the same money you can get a Seiko 5kx or a Citizen Promaster, proper steel watches. I can’t get past that and wouldn’t buy a moonswatch.
I agree with most of it. Watch journalism is pretty much dead, so I am not surprised about the praise this MoonSwatch is getting. I have never been tempted by this thing after two utterly unimpressive previous Swatch purchases. I have paid less for a steel solar chronograph I can swim with, and it’s not even a homage but an original design.
Absolutely ! the minute I looked into this watch even before seeing it in person, I knew it was crap. Swatch were always a toy's company in my mind. But why Omega dilutes its brand name is completely beyond me.
They are overpriced but fun. If you like it buy it. If not, that's fine too. I'm glad they exist.
At last an honest review if this piece of junk. I’m a watch collector and a sucker for a new, unusual watch, but I just couldn’t bring myself to pay £200 for this piece of junk. I love the way it looks, and I have a real Speedmaster, but I’m also a trainee watchmaker. My father is a veteran watchmaker. Pull one of these things apart (destructively as you can’t disassemble them) and you’ll realise what I mean. Literally cheap, plastic, junk. I have a £50 TIMEX that is far better quality than this. All this from a company that also refuses to supply the independent watchmaker with parts for the majority of its range. Swatch Group needs a new direction.
Buying these bubble gum machine plastic watches is similar to people purchasing a cheap white t with Burberry on it: all for the brand. Each time these garbage watches are reviewed, I give myself a pat on the back for not getting one myself.
Totally agree! Any time one of my mates asks me about getting this, I'm like "If dropping over 200 quid on a toy watch isn't a big spend to you, go for it. But if that's a significant amount of money - you can buy something much better!"

You’ve summarised everything about the situation with this watch with the utmost accuracy. The notion that the Moonswatch is at all a decent product that is even close to being worth money on the pricetag is as hilarious as your furby pelt joke-which still gets me every time I think about it btw.
I like it and have been wearing my Mercury for the last 2 years with no issues but minor scratches. Holds time perfectly.
I love the Mercury. The band takes getting used to. I’ve only had mine for about a month now. With the original band it looks like a piece of standard issue NASA astronaut gear. I love it. I bought 3 xtra China copy Mercury bands for it. I like the light weight. I also have a Citizen Orca for underwater. It’s titanium and lite weight too. I bought the Mercury on eBay for 288 USD. I hope it will last longer than peeps have said. Until then - I’m lovin’ it. 😄
Which is a bigger money grab? $60k for a hunk of metal versus a $310 plastic watch? Think about it…. I can afford a $60k omega. I actually like my Super Blue Moonphase…. You should wear your MoonSwatch and make a video a year from now about how it actually worked out (or not) for you.
These things are utter junk, Swatch must be doubled up in laughter at the number of people that will buy a plastic watch worth £30 for £240. Nice work if you can get it.
Swatch was selling overpriced plastic junk watches back in the 90', nothing has changed, so no surprise for me
personally I like some of the OG colors and the new release, just not at that price. I'd like to see Ali express rip them off. And no I don't mean the speedies imitations they already have, I wanna see a full matte colored case, possibly in steel with a better meca quartz

I think it’s a good watch other than wearing your usual smartwatch from apple or android these days. It’s not expensive and you get to have a collaboration between Omega and Swatch! There is definitely a fun flair to it but it doesn’t exude luxury like a standard omega speedmaster does. For people who have the omega, they have mentioned they use this as a watch they can wear on vacation and leave their pricey omega at home. It’s light and does it’s job as a watch. This looks good for at office and casual outings.
Hi mate I went to view one yesterday, the store had the moon swatch but the straps grey shouldn't it be black or is that a different variation... I'm seeing some grey some black online
I get how it was targeted to those who couldnt afford or wanted an omega. Swatch is owned by OMEGA so it was good marketing. Swatch closed lots of its shops and OMEGA bailed them out... Im a sucker too but i cant afford the £300 for my seamster service until november lol. Loved the video, i loved your passion sir

What exactly is hard to understand? If people are willing to pay $1,000 for it then that’s what it’s worth. A collectible’s value is variable, of course, so what’s the problem again?
I have one of these, and one Pagani PD-1701 a.k.a. "mission to Alaska". The Pagani IS in another world, just for 60-80 quid. So the moonswatch might cost 20-25€.
How does the lens hold up on these?
I got to the MoonSwatch party 2 years late, meaning this year. So imagine someone from the future taking a look at it now. I visited the Swatch store at World Trade Center, which was pretty empty when I went.
I asked the lady if they had em, she said she had em all except the Mission to Neptune (wonder why, Daniel Craig). I then proceeded to the store window to look at the case displaying the,m and I just couldn’t bring myself to even ask to try them on, they looked disappointingly cheap and plastic.
So, yeah, I don’t get it. Great video sums up some of my thoughts about it .

At retail you're deep into serious G-Shock territory, including G-Steels. That's a metal, solar, Bluetooth/multiband 6, unit that will probably outlast you. I understand the Moonswatch hype... but the money people have thrown at these makes the tiffany Rolex nonsense seem relatively normal.
As for the article claiming it's underpriced, in terms of Economic Theory, the statement is actually correct. Batshit, but theoretically correct. The other statements about it being arguably better than the actual Speedy are literal insanity
All the marketing and scalper info from the publication you mentioned also sounds like Rolex to me. FOMO causes people to pay over retail for Rolexes that really arent worth the massively overinflated prices that they pay on the grey market.

The thing that pisses me off about Moonswatches is that if it was Casio quality and actually lasted more than an hour, it could be a cool idea but these things are actually made of wet cardboard. I've seen videos of them falling apart in people's hands. For £240+ they should at least be G-Shock quality.

No mother jokes today? 😄 From their point of view it was a stroke of genius. The Speedmaster sales have gone up. But I totally agree, it's a shame the watch is so cheaply made. After all I didn't buy one to this day either and have no plans to do so.

High filler content does NOT inspire confidence. Because there's generally basically no bond between polymers and ceramics, with some exceptions i guess PET+silica works. But generaly all you get is just brittle shit and lack of cohesion.
Which well we saw the watches shed the pigment off their back and crack pushers. These watches, something cheap cloness aren't susceptible to because they aren't doing obscene shit with their formulations to impress... somebody on paper i guess?

I think it’s worth 2,90 Euros. To sell it for ten times of it’s value is ok. So I would pay thirty bucks for it. But hundred times? Definitely not. Then better save up and get the real deal. 🕐⚙️🍸

The problem is that, of course, it’s only offered in 42mm.. even for the pink…I’m so sick of the sexism practiced by watch companies.. make all watches for both sexes by making one 36mm and the other 42mm already! It’s SO annoying I can’t get the color I want because it’s “men’s”.. I have to settle for the baby pink!!! Yuck! But yeah this omega swatch .. an ETA mechanical movement with date can be purchased for $250-$300 and this case can be 3d printed for cents on the dollar. It’s not hand painted.. really? But yeah.. paying $300 for it is such bs.. it likely cost about $30 in parts for the company to make.. this is why omega is dying and it’s SAD because the company is one of the 19th century greats. They’ve had some great designs in the past years but they don’t offer them in between 36-38mm which is their biggest mistake! It’s every watch companies biggest mistake.

This review shows a utter incoherence of sense. Why would you ever bring up the difference between the "real" omega and this? What would be the point? Its like comparing apples to lawn chairs. Also, why would there not be a inclusion of letting people know that "if you know youll never be able to afford a omega, but you want one, this is the waych for you". Some people. Im NOT included, cant buy the real one, or buy a $500 watch. Bottom line the review was weird.. are there other watches that offer better for cheaper? Yes. Are there other watchss that make more sense price wise then this? Yes. Its that old rolex saying they used to say back in the day, we can drag them through the mud! But why would you... so silly.

After Nomega introduced this piece of garbage I sold my 1969 transitional Speedmaster my mom bought in Zurich the day we landed on the moon. Albeit for a very large sum of money. Know what I did? I bought the Pagani homage and the Phylida with the wonderful ST19 movement. Both watches all in were $250.00
