I'm 16 years old, no job relying on money from parents and saving it up and I have a passion for watches. I have a decent enough collection (my favourite being a yema rallygraf) which satisfies me but I love the speedmaster. When the moonswatch first came out i went down to London with my dad and that is what originally got me into watches (I was probably around 14-15). When i saw the mission to pluto i fell in love, so i saved ever since that and last summer i finally bought one while on holiday in Italy, I am also a big fan of these snoopy variants. All in all i do not think the moonswatch is as poor as people say, i enjoy mine on the occasions i wear it and i believe that you can only enjoy them if you take them as a fun weekend watch, maybe its bias as it is the watch that got me hooked.
it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you enjoy it
Great to hear you’re enjoying the watch. Also a lovely memory to share with your dad picking up a watch together. Watch fans are all super opinionated, so don’t take it to heart - just enjoy what you have. Lots of people love these watches.
I respect you my friend I was the same as you. Keep doing what you love doing and your going to be $$$ KING
The wife likes it, end of.
Mission to Pluto really is the best one
Just great marketing. Some people think they’re getting a cheap omega when in fact they’re getting an expensive swatch
This is the best way to say it. Lol!
I'm with you on that! An OVERPRICED Swatch is how I word it. 😁
It's both.
But it is still an Omega also.
@@DeOmnibusDubitandum76 the only reason it has the omega branding on these watches is that the luxury omega brand comes under the swatch group and that is where the similarities end
Even $150 would be too much for me. Thanks for sharing it. 🙏🏼
Same. $80-$100 at most for me.
@@LouisGiliberto👊
Don't buy it then
@@LouisGiliberto exactly, for 150 bucks youre getting into nice gshock territory, i know which one i'd have
The fool and his money are easily parted 👍😂
My very first watch was a swatch. Bought in 1986. It started my interest in watches at 8 years old. I still have it and it still works.
I think the MoonSwatch would be a great and fun purchase if it were under $100. They look cool and I absolutely love Snoopy, but I just can't wrap my head around paying those kind of prices for a disposable plastic watch no matter what branding is on the dial.
You can buy one indistinguishable from the $300 one for $28 online, that actually work better and have a removable case back
Fakes are shit and very noticeable.
It's €300 a speedmaster professional sells for €9000! It's not bad value it says Omega that alone is worth the price tag
@@OGbrundleThere's no good fakes lol gtfoh
sorry their just not for me , g shock etc better value and tougher
I’m with ya!!!!
I love some of 'em.... it's just because I've got the hots for Speedmasters..recon that'd wear off quite quickly tho..too expensive for a cheap plastic knock-off.
If you think the watch strap is a bit crap, it's because it's made from the landing module loo roll.
Well done to Swatch for rejuvenating the brand, but not for me, cheap tat. Would rather have a Citizen Tsuyosa, Promaster or any number of Seiko, Casio or micro brands such as Dan Henry etc...
Anyone of those other brands will last you a decade!
I have a Citizen pro master that feels and looks better than moonswatch. I jist got onega moonswatch yesterday and feels like a cheap plastic toy.
I just knew Mrs MWC would like it… a sense of inevitability… 😂😂
Just purchased one. It’s a fun watch and got me back into researching watches. Now I’m chasing after an actual legit Omega. So I’ll credit them with that.
Same here; got a neptune and now seeking a speedy professional
Thanks for taking one for the team. We owe you one !
Thank you!
Just got an omega x swatch last week, just to get the dial & movement, to put it in a stainless steel case with sapphire crystal. Best decision ever!
Please share a picture so I can understand what you did I’m very curious
What case did you use?
These are ok imo, If you have the cash to spend and want it then any watch is a good buy. The hate these things get started to be a bit too much in my opinion.
The hate has frankly been amplified because of 1) the pre-release hype and expectations which is partially the fault of Swatch and 2) the huge disconnect between the expectations and what the quality ended up being ... plus the way they were released, plus the flippers, plus Swatches reneging on online sales.
I wanted one when the hype started but the more reviews I saw, the more I hear about them, the more the drama of trying to get one, the more Swatch milks this with another release frankly the less I want one.
I First discovered your Channel today. And i Must say i really Like your Style!
Great Video, Bad Watch
Brilliant. Your review, not the watch. You nailed it!
I pick up the Mercury one and the Sun one for my wife last week . Over priced , watches but fun and I do enjoy wearing it. It not an everyday watch but I have over 40 watches in the collection so none are everyday for me. Great fun watch and to be enjoyed . Just think of it for what it is !
I love mine. Have had various including this one. The case shape, the fun factor, wearable too. The Blancpain is good as a bit more robust!
Got a Jupiter in me watchbox that I take out 2-3 times a week to time my workouts/runs. Wears beautifully on a black perlon strap.
Yep, can confirm, I mainly bought the standard Mission to the Moon because of FOMO and wanting to be "in the club". And because I like space stuff and can't afford the original. But it was for retail, in a Swatch shop, a year after it came out. Don't feed the flippers and the scalpers if you want one.
For a while I didn't wear it much, got tired of the hype train, but since I put it on a NATO strap it finds it way onto my wrist every now and then.
I think the MoonSwatch is a lot of fun, they’ve got so many colourways and they are a great example of how to create a product that didn’t exist before but enthusiasts can’t get enough of! And this Snoopy Moonphase is no exception!
That being said, the MoonSwatch isn’t for me. As you said, they are considerably overpriced for what they are. They would need to be sub £100 for me to even consider one and even then it would be a novelty purchase.
Awesome show as ever MWC!
Agree!!! They really feel too lightweight though:( like a 3D render!!!;)
In my opinion they are fun IF you can wear it without it breaking, the color running or the fact that when there is an issue you have to throw it away and can't repair it. As at least one owner in the comments section said they are afraid to wear theirs.
love that Seiko 5 on your wrist
Soon to be available on eBay at +300%.
A stroke of marketing genius Mr Hayek 👏🏻👏🏻
I like it. Gonna buy it as soon as I have the opportunity. Dont care about specs and about what critics say, i just like it and I know I'm gonna enjoy it.
Out of them all?...that Dark Snoopy one?..Yeah..that one!...Luv it.
Funny you say “no more MoonSwatch” … I find myself drawn to it 😵💫
And now, with this all-white version, I feel “the pull” even more 😩
I haven’t acquired one yet but I feel you have to look at this type of watch differently, in a more light hearted kind of way.
Thanks for sharing my friend! Another great show!
This is my favorite one. Might have to get it when I go to NYC.
As a fan of the Speedmaster I bought one of these (the Moon one) just to see what the fuss was about. I thoroughly endorse everything you say about cheapness, lightness and price. I would be interested in your take on the Blancpain/Swatch collaboration. Still “bio ceramic”(😅) but with a genuine, albeit stripped down, automatic movement.
I bought the Mission to Mars for the missus, which is stunning on a white tropical strap.
But these are even better! I might look at the white one.
Should have bought the mission to Uranus
@@BR81-iv6lt 😂
That blue one stains your skin.
I recently got Mission on Earth and Mission to Pluto. I love them in all honesty.
Get the Pagani speedmaster. Cheaper, better and way nicer to look at
I almost did, and then I stumbled over the "Newman's Own" Daytona PD-1676 by Pagani, and it was on an insane sale under USD50 with a coupon, and it is quite neat! I fell in love with the screw-down pushers for better water resistance, so whammy, I clicked it!
So of course, the Pagani Moon Speedy PD-1701 is still in my cart, but my car battery just died .... SHASBAT!
@@owenlaprath4135
Shasbat!??
That is obscure, for sure. You just made me fire up a few dusty old memory neurons.
Ar-Ar
The moonswatch worked on me....3 months later I got a speedmaster racing 40mm and seamaster 300m.
Brilliant
Love these videos
These things are utter junk, Swatch must be doubled up in laughter at the number of people that will buy a plastic watch worth £30 for £240. Nice work if you can get it.
💯 and even more so with these moonphase ones, they’re £270!!
Well I live in Australia in a state capital I still can’t buy one of the first ones so I don’t care really .
MoonSwatch, the gift that just keeps on giving. :)
Yes it's a toy, I got the Jupiter and I'm afraid to wear it. crasy
Christian showing support !!!!;)
I much preferred the snoopy seiko pieces
"Swatch has finally made enough bio-ceramic to make their own moon" caught me off-guard 🤣
FOr me the moonswatch is some of instant 'luxury' watch. Whenever I wear my Rolex or Panerai, no one actually notices it, possibly because many people are not familiar with it. But whenever I'm wearing my Moonswatch, I gets lots of compliments even from non watch enthusiasts that my watch looks great :D Or sometimes they say it's an expensive watch just because many people easily knows how the moonswatches look like and the price
Honestly, I think the skmei 1584 70th anniversary snoopy watch has better build quality. The moonswatches look like a cheap toy version of a speedy, but if someone wants to spend $200 on a watch that looks like it came out of a cereal box its their money.
Catching Speedy vibes at a twentieth part of the price of the original, being an authentic fun watch (no one could understand it otherwise) that makes me smile each time I look at it (Mission on Earth)… worth it for me.
I’ve had swatches for decades and I still wear them at a reasonable state of conservation. The key is to not take it to seriously. 😝😉
I like this watch ... but now that you've shown us the black version, I can't wait to see that one!!! Who doesn't love Snoopy?!
“Cheap, cereal box toys” hits the nail on the head! Swatch has always been marketed to kids/ teens. If you look at it from that perspective, they’re fine! They don’t have to be super-high quality because they’re meant to be relatively disposable.
The everyday version of the Swatch is a Tissot :) Slightly better made, decent enough movements. And if you shop around a tiny bit, you can always find them 40-60% off. Closer to that 150 pounds he's suggesting out the door, because nobody is collecting them. I have one that I wear for work that cost me about $140 on sale. Given that Citizen and Seiko have raised their prices, not a bad deal. But, yes, this is absurdly overpriced.
I would agree with "cereal box toys except" £270 doesn't qualify as cheap, does it?
They aren’t even fine for kids/teens at that price point they could get something better that last longer for that price, it is a cool looking watch for about 80/100 bucks anything more than that and it would be more beneficial to buy a seiko, orient or casio
@@thebeardedone6741 Cool! Appreciate that opinion. Could that argument be applied to all Swatch watches? Can you name a Swatch that’s not overpriced for what you get?
@@thebeardedone6741 If you must have a Swiss movement, there are many in that price range that use a less expensive quartz movement than the ETA. Mathey-Tissot ( not Swatch Tissot ) makes many good watches for $100 over at Jomashop. Basically a Swiss Timex. Which are also good choices. My favorite growing up was a dual-time Timex. That someone stole from my gym locker.. lol.
Better value in the same look stainless steel, Seiko VK movement Pagani versions ... For about half the price ... Time for Mr. Pagani to celebrate 🎉.
Doesn't have the Omega logo.
@@robertmckinlay7242 the photocopier ran out of ink at that point? 🤷🤦
@@robertmckinlay7242 in fairness you are right but for arguments sake IF the Pagani version had been released by Swatch instead (at lets say the Swatch release price) with the same Pagani specs but with the Omega logo on it which one would you say is better value?
Great one Russ.
That's a cool "once in a blue moon" deal. I like it
Great video. Really made me laugh😂 Thank you
Moonswatch is a Toy watch. Best watch in this price range is the Bulova Lunar pilot. Fit and finish is nice and could be an heirloom piece.
I opted to spend a little more to get a Studio Underd0g watch
Pretty content with my Seiko 5 Snoopy--it's not made of cheap plastic (er..."bioceramic", its movement is serviceable, the strap won't fall apart in your hands, and in 10 years time, it'll still be reliably ticking away when this thing is keeping the earth warm in a landfill.
Everything from the 80's and 90's has made a comeback in some way or another. It's a bit surprising to me that Swatch didn't take advantage of that trend and bring back their retro watches that were so popular from that era with the transparent cases and straps and wild designs. That would've been better than a moonswatch. In my humble opinion.
...love the timex reference to snoopy 😂😂
Congratulations on your channel content. I subscribed to your channel because you had previously presented watches with good quality of manufacture and an affordable price for the common consumer. The watches on display today are beyond the expectations of the average consumer and I find them extremely expensive.I would like if you could make videos like you used to again so we can shop and I don't think I will ever be able to raise a little money to buy an expensive watch Thanks much for your time be well always😊
Moon and Jupiter here. I really like them. I believe the plastic fantastic bio ceramic stuff will stand the test of time…
Id like to admit to all and sundry that I for one have NOT bought one of these Moon Swatches. Thank you for your understanding.
What watch are you wearing in this video ? Is it the SRPK17K1 ?
I will locking for a Agat Russian Dive watch Titanium 😊
If they won't fit sapphire or align the hands properly at the price may as well get a Seiko
The Pagani "SpeedChina" is a amazing deal for the money, got one and it's great. But I gave in to temptation and just bought a Mission to the Moon, it's on its way here. I figure getting a genuinely Omega branded watch for the money was worth a try. Hope I don't get grafted on it and it lasts for a few years at least.
Is the best watch ever! Super comfortable, reliable, cool and cheap!
great episode, so funny. and is that a back to the future Pepsi bottle ?
Swatch needs to use a sturdier composite like fibershell. The JCrewxMarathon Navigator is both a collab, a celebration of Marathon and a loose homage to the old Benrus Type 1 all in a somewhat robust package. Swatch could use a more durable material.
The wife likes it!
As a big fan of the original Speedmaster, I got me a Moonswatch last year when coming along a swatch store.
Long story short:
The glass was so poor, that it was totally scratched two days later.
Props to swatch for taking care and sending me a new watch, but I sold it right away.
I'm still liking the design and the idea, but the finished product is just not worth the price tag.
Spaaaace Juuuunk!
Smeeeeg! ❤❤
I love omega and love speedys and most of my collection are watches owned by swatch group but I just couldn't ever understand the hype or price for a plastic watch that is known to break easily BUT the Blancpain 50 fathoms swatch I love but I guess the fact its automatic even if it is a system 51 makes a big difference to me🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣
Been waiting for this one. Despite all the press I really want to like these. 😊
I came here just to hear him talk shit on it. lol
The Moon - Bin is 100% compostable after the warranty period expires🤣
I think they would be better value if they came in a box of Captain Crunch cereal.
I love Snoopy but I prefer him on my much more durable and affordable Timex. Thanks for the great review though. 😊
White watches I only wear in the summer with a T-shirt on.
I prefer that Seiko you're wearing.
I encountered one in the wild on the wrist of a co worker. I was interested until I held it. Honestly it just felt like an over priced toy.
loved it!
If I have to buy a plastic watch, I'll go with Casio. Still can't understand what that watch is! Not Omega, not Swatch, no mechanical movement, what the hell
bought a mercury added a nato strap and loved it so went and bought the omega, guess what.... I still wear the swatch more.
I wasn't really into watches until I got my Earth MoonSwatch. The minute they announced the first collection I was stunned honestly, I immediately wanted one of these even though it was clear it was plastic. Before buying them, I only had my Casio calculator watch as a daily and that was it, but now I have 7 watches in my watch case. The real Omega Speedmaster is not a watch I would ever buy even if I had the money, I just can't justify that purchase, but it is a design I like the most in watches. So yeah, I realize it's a toy and it's overpriced and it's stupid, I still love my MoonSwatch because it looks good to me, it has a personal meaning (two actually) and it led to getting into this hobby.
I love my Mercury edition, just the glass is a let-down for the price. It scratches up really easily.
To each their own, and if some folks enjoy these watches, that's fine.
For me, this beats out Hublot in the that's-absolutely-not-for-me category.
MWC, excellent vid as usual, despite what the wife says. I have the ultimate in patience. I am waiting for the bottom to drop out...maybe even for the point when the Moonswatch use is even considered nerdy. That is when I will swoop in and by my baby Moonswatch for a mere $99.99 (USD). I am a watch hero.
I actually love it!
I’m kidding. It’s crap. But if someone likes it, I’m actually glad and hope they enjoy it. But I can literally rattle off 50 watches off the top of my head I would buy before this one for the money. Thanks as always for the entertaining review!
I’d only ever consider one of these to just stick in a cupboard and hope it’d be worth something one day !!
I would rather call this a/the peppermint watch.
I have had my Victorinox INOX Titanium for going on two 2yrs now. Still haven't decided on my second watch. I have no intention of adding one of these.
Personally I’d rather buy a seiko 5 that will last for years. That being said I’m happy that these watches make people happy. That’s what it’s all about in the hobby.
i wonder if someone gonna start modding these with metal body and better band, while retaining dial and mechanism
🤣"The wife , what does she know of it " 🤣🤣🤣
Way too much money for a plastic, throw-away watch. Nope and nope.
Not that bad a markup when you consider what you're actually geting for $3K Swiss 3 handers. It's ceratinly not worth $350 but the resale has been incredibly solid. I rarely see one sell below retail on Ebey. theres a strong market for it both new (see the long lines at Swatch store) and used. As far as the watch itself, I mean how more costly is it to make a Swiss G10 (if that's what theyre' using) vs. a 3 hand Swiss ETA, Sellita or Kenissi mechanical? $3,500 worth? I'm going to guess it's probably less than $50 difference. Then you your case, crystal and I know for sure those aren't costing anyone anything near a $1,000 to make at retail. Point is complaining about the price while going along with what we are asked to pay for off the shelf Swiss mechanical movements is bit strange.
Hold the phone! Am I the last person to know about SwatchPay?!! Putting an NFC chip in a watch is really cool. [I live in the States and we are the last people to ever embrace technology. Remember sealed headlight? We didn’t get those until the mid-80s, long after Europe had them.]
Pagani Design Mission to Alaska is pretty good LOL. Not too fond of the Chinese brand but that design is pretty decent build.
After all this time I just don’t understand all the hate for these things…. I honestly don’t. I bought a mission to mercury last year in Rome when on holiday. I think it’s bloody brilliant… it’s a plastic watch with a quartz movement that happens to look like the speedmaster professional. So what?? It has omega on the dial and it gives people a gateway into perhaps owning the real deal one day. I predominantly wear my Pelagos 42 as a daily but sometimes I’ll throw on the moons watch and it allways brings a smile to my face. I reckon the snobbery just needs to go. This snoopy variant is great! Will I get one ? Absolutely…. and I’ll wear it without a shit given for the toff who scoffs. At the end of the day.. we all share the watch bug…. Worse things to be into.
Loved this review... where is snoopy?😅
Gotta say, for most of the models, the only thing wrong with the moonswatch is the price.
As said, if it survives for 2-3 years it is a good thing. So around 50GBP a year? Yikes.
If these were free with a box of cornflakes I’d still buy my porridge!
i love your reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A swatch Night flight is waaaay better built and costs less. Thats if you want a swatch.
I would buy that watch if it were no more than 80 bucks. In a heartbeat. I’m not paying what they’re asking for.
Please keep in mind, you're buying a Swatch NOT a Speedmaster. One will last a few years, the other will last a lifetime and beyond.
I think they’re really fashionable and I’d want one if they weren’t so much
Its good you give the missus a look , women have a way of separating the chaff from the hay so to speak that we blokes dont always have :) .
