If they'd reissued it as Tag Heuer, at 400 pounds, they'd shift more than the MoonSwatch.
i think they should do an actual reissue 1:1 after doing the “limited edition BS” and keep it under $800 (just to adjust with inflation) and actually get customers

This is probably the best piece of journalism work on these Keith Heuers. A balanced, thorough & well written opinion piece. Reminds me of old Clarkson reviews. Good job my man! What a breath of fresh air amongst the current RUclips watch scene where it’s either paid reviews or hate reaction pieces.

The leather straps made by Vario specifically for the Royale are amazing, I've bought multiple. Highly recommend if you want something different from the default resin strap.

I have my lowly Citizen titanium eco-drive that I bought 15 years ago, that would a need a new battery after a couple of years(never happened) some people said. Keeps damn good time. Next!

My $130 Casio and another $40 Casio I used to have both had second hands that got within 5% of bang-on the markers. I still don't understand why the Swiss can't do the same for multiples of the price!

It's a genius move really. These are going to sell like crazy - it gets people talking about the F1s again and I suspect a standard production will come out some time in the near future (cheaper and not limited). I can't imagine TAG Heuer going through all that effort to use the original moulds for the cases and invent a new 'arnite' material for just these limited editions.

$1500 is chump change for many.
I had a black with yellow bezel version back in the early 90s. Traded it for an early 70s Omega TV screen dial in green, with the 1020 movement. That was a great swap.
For £1,350 I’m surprised the Keith Hoyer quartz plastic-bezel toy doesn’t come with a magnifying glass so you can actually see the seconds hand missing the markers 🤔.

I have been a Heuer fanatic since the 60s; but, in my opinion, this Kith recreates the 80s stuff that TAG should have allowed to fade from memory, not revive it.

- MWC have you seen the Keith G shocks from a few years ago? They are good and shows he has been in the watch game a few years!
- I went the route of getting an original for £299 and don’t think it’s too small for me - it’s in the metal bracelet maybe that helps make it feel more adult?
- On the wife check. My fiancée has never had such a visceral reaction to a watch as my one - she hates it!

My $300 Swatch hits the markers perfectly.
I was lucky enough to get the 10 pack in the collector case. I then immediately sold it for about 4k profit. Took about an hour of my time. Anyone knocking it doesn't understand the following Kith has.

Several websites have steel heuer watches for lower than $1500 those seem like a much better option
I bought a 1990's Tag Heurer 200m Professional (Swiss quartz) for $100 from a consignment shop ...
As far as im aware the second hand is not supposed to line up with the index markers on the watch face, its supposed to line up with the markers on the bezel, something to do with the bezel needing to be more accurate in a diving situation as its the bezel thats the life saver, hence why they are normaly uni directional also.

I respect and appreciate your honesty. Including the good bits, rather than just mindlessly piling onto it. This release is a lot of "could have been". Perhaps Tag will evaluate the situation and release a real version, with "Tag Heuer" branding, and priced appropriately (500 ideally, certainly no more than 999 for it, come on now). The Moonswatch was alright, by comparison. I went into a Swatch store, said to my wife "that's great but not for me" and went on with my watch collecting life. Tag was taking the Pith with this release.

I’m a TH fanboy, but this is just ridiculous… fyi, TAG uses Swiss Ronda quartz movements, and are generally the “higher grade” ones, though I can’t confirm this one. I agree with everything you said haha. Have a good weekend Russ!
Honestly, I can't hate it. I love funky retro quartz! Especially from Swiss brands. I agree with you though, at a fraction of the price and with the TAG Heuer logo, it may have been a good buy.

Who’s bought’m this is the problem. Could’ve been a huge PR win , a renaissance for a brand that’s trying to find its foothold in this industry . Tag is an affordable luxury brand with a shop in every mall . The watch as a product? It was made well but 1000 pounds overpriced
Maybe for 3-400 as an auto at 40mm but if i want a small quartz diver ill get a Timex q or an mdv-10 for like 60-100 bucks.

Shocking price for those watches they’ve made a big mistake here . Drop the kith and price to around the 4 to 500 mark and they would have been on to a winner . Not my personal taste but then again I’m 50 not 15 😂

I had an original WA1214 stainless steel with jubilee bracelet. Got it in 1995. My first analog watch in about 13 years at the time. I was and still am a big F1 fan. That watch was stolen from my bag while playing soccer in 2003. I loved it and was sad. So I see the nostalgia appeal for this reissue. But the official timer of F1 and the Tag Heuer name and logo that was shown on F1 races was a big reason I got this watch. So Kith Heuer is a hard No for me. The price tag (pun intended) is also a hard no. But I miss the cute little F1 watch that was my most expensive watch purchase ever at that time. So I went and got one, in good condition online for around £350 ($450). Nostalgia costs, but not 1500. 😊
You got it right: most watch brands don’t give a sh*t about us. I’m trying to understand this one but there is no brand strategy that justifies “butchering” the brand name and “selling out” an icon for a ridiculous partnership with a ridiculous luxury brand unless this is a money grab. This was the first watch I got, 32 years ago at 15 (still have it, obviously) with all the savings I had (and the start of this looney hobby). I’m fortunate to have amazing watches, affordable and expensive, but Tag Heuer has been in the collection through the years, down to the recent Carrera Glassbox. I know they don’t give a sh*t about us but as a hardcore fan I’m insulted by this release and I regret defending them against critics all these years.

It’s quite funny that Tag Heuer produce an F1 watch, advertised by Red Bull Racing whom they sponsor, but that features hands with the logo of their arch nemesis Mercedes on it!
I had the green tag in the 80s when I was young,I would buy this but no more than £250.
As soon as this launched I had to have one! So I bought an ORIGINAL for just over $600 AUD delivered from England.🤪😍👍🏼

The price is ridiculous. I like what Tag has been doing the past 5+ years. In fact I was close to getting a Tag before deciding on saving a while longer to get a Cartier Santos but if I didn’t have the Seiko Arnie Solar Quartz I would be buying one of Tags Solar Aquaracers.

My Seamaster was £500 in ‘93, which is the equivalent of £1350 today. Watch inflation is a completely different beast. Also the current F1 quartz is £1500 on a bracelet, so expecting ‘luxury watch brand TAG Heuer’ to offer these or any future TAG-only release for under £1000 is very optimistic. The bracelet versions of this are the only ones worth considering, should you have the £1350.
