I bought exactly this Cartier about 1 month ago. In fact, I'm wearing it right now as I write. I also bought the black alligator strap. With its slightly sportier look and three different straps (steel, rubber and leather), the watch is extremely versatile and can be worn with anything. I love this watch and it fits my 19.5 cm wrist perfectly.
Just reading this you can tell you're a true fan of the watch. Wearing it, getting the different strap variations and absolutely making the most of a watch is really what it's all about. Not simply collecting them for the sake of it and putting them in a box.
I saw the thumbnail for the video and thought "hmm...this should be at least *interesting* . And...goodness, me, I like it, too. Mind you, I've never *disliked* Cartier, but they've rarely wowed me. (Up till now, the Pasha was the only model I gave a damn about.) Thus might be the first Santos that also wows me, or at least comes close. (And, yes, the lume shot seriously caught me off-guard.)
Where did you purchase your other Cartier straps? I have the steel bracelet and brown strap and would like to see if I can get the rubber or a blue strap. Thank you.
Love this watch. I have the same Santos, but with a white dial. The butterfly clasp took some getting used to. I also wish it didn't have that date complication, but all the large Santos have it. They really didn't need to add it. It's so small, it's hard to see the date anyway. Great video and review as always.
I’ve had this watch for about a year and thus far, it’s been durable. It comes with an 8 year warranty, and the rubber strap makes it a versatile watch. I also opted to get a leather strap and this watch can be dressed up and down based on the strap choice
Never saw this model before. The classic styling is so well balanced with the dial color and the case/bracelet details. Good specs and lume… It’s a very classy GADA! Very, very nice 👌
Have tried (and become obsessed with) the silver dial blue bezel..... And looks particularly sporty on the blue rubber that comes with.... Amazing bracelet links and quick release
A couple of years ago for my Birthday my wife got me a 90 minute consult with a Jeweler in Portland Oregon. We got there before the store opened, and Blaine and I went over a bunch of watches in the store. Rolex, Tissot, Panerai, Tag, and Cartier, and the Santos was the one that oafter looking and trying them on, really stole the show that day. I wasn't expecting to like any Cartier, but the Santos was really the one. And It was in your same color in this video. Added it to my top 5 grails.
That’s such a gorgeous watch! I don’t think I could wear one with khaki shorts & a t-shirt without looking fancier than I’m trying to be, though. It just looks so formal to me.
This was my first big watch purchase. It really looks amazing on the included rubber strap. I wish you had a chance to check that out as well. I have four extra leather straps from Delugs and I also have their rubber strap in Orange. I wear this watch everywhere and I've even had it in the pool (who needs screw down crowns?). Cool to see it featured on your channel. My wife hates mine as well but she hates the Tank Americaine i just bought even more! 😂
If I had the cash I would absolutely get a Santos. In fact, if probably have more than one Santos and a Tank just for a start! Have never really looked at Cartier as I didn’t think they did one that tickled my fancy so to speak so when your video came up I was mildly interested but nothing more. By the time you had finished I was converted and just loved this model, if I had the money I would definitely get one but regrettably it’s a bit out of my price level. I like the low key looks of this Santos, and about the calendar wheel color i'm pretty sure people would complain if it was white that it didn't match the dial, black at least makes it even more low key.

The pasha is the best cartier imo, i bought it in switzerland, it was the right size for me, and she was beautiful. Better than the santos. Now, I'm curious to see how much it's worth today, so I'm planning to do a little research.
Great that will fetch you some cash. *I used to be a collector, but I liquidated my collection to venture into real estate. In January, I acquired homes in Malibu for $65million, and the returns on investment far exceed what I earned as a collector.
I like this look but prefer the medium sized version. To me, the Santos Medium, white dial is the most versatile watch around. It can be worn in just about any situation that most people day to day will be in.
Wife's reactions are the best and she is almost always spot on 😂 .. I was wondering what is she talking about with that staircase vibes and then I looked it again and the outer ring on the dial really looks like a staircase 😂 but it is still one of the best looking watches I have ever seen.
Recently found your channel Russ, absolutely love the videos so of course I had to subscribe! Great review; have to admit I've always preferred the Tank Must XL on leather; rectangular case, guilloche in the middle of the dial, rounded blancards, cabochon crown, auto movement. That bracelet though looks like an absolute belter - a bit like the IWC EasX-change system, I wish more manufacturers went this route (or at least have quick release springbars).

The "large" is a superb fit on a 6 1/2 inch wrist. The cambered shape really helps it hug the wrist and fit well. I think the larger size also adds to the sportiness. Mmmmmm... Cartier.

I have had the medium with blue dial for sometime.With the great bracelet it is less formal than the white and fine with jeans.Considering they are number two in luxury Swiss watch sales they don't get much attention on YT although This Watch That Watch put them in god tier.The dial design was inspired by Haussmanns plan for Paris at the turn of the century.Santos Dumont attracted huge crowds for his flights and by making wrist watches acceptable for men ,could be described as an early "influencer".Regards.

I love this BLACK DLC bezel with the gray dial it's my absolute favorite I just wish they made it in an extra large .Extra large has a the bracelet that comes two-tone with black DLC down the center of Braclet that I don't like . It's such a beautiful watch
This wears surprisingly large, especially on the bracelet. You should give it a try. I have this version but I've always wanted the same one in the medium size. I have a 17 cm wrist and can barely pull it off. It wears smaller on straps though, particularly on the included rubber strap.

I realy like the santos,i worn o e years ago,a santos automatkque in steel.i buy it 2600$,sell it 5years after for only 1600$ for econo ic urgency,now i want to buy one in secondary,the same vintage and cost minimum 4400$...they ask the double of the new price...its creasy,the only afordable cartier in secondary market are the pasha you can find one at 2200$,or the ronde solo ag 3000$,but the new santos is great,but for 7500€ i will prefer a rolex perpetual or explorer,but just my choice.

In terms of sizing, that bracelet is a feat of engineering. At the beginning of trying to size a Black Bay 54 bracelet and may have to get that Uncle Tudor half-link.

Just design wise, I have the watch on the video and I also have a few modern Rolex’s (submariner, datejust, oyster perpetual and day date 40), built quality of Rolex is much higher and contrary to what the video might say I do like the design of the bracelet in my santos put I feel like I might break it if I tried a bit, I like it a bit more on the rubber strap.
Hands down my favorite Cartier! Now keep in mind this and the Tank are the only two Cartier watches I know…Honored to be here for the first Cartier of the channel!

I recall on a previous video you said Roman numerals don’t belong on a wristwatch. I agree. Cartier is a luxury name like Rolex. Unlike Rolex, Cartier watches are way way way way too expensive for a pedestrian ETA movement that is neither a certified chronometer nor a power reserve monster. It’s a handsome watch that is nowhere close to be worth its price.
There is M,A,D Red Edition on the BQ website at £4.25k. A long way from the stuff you usually review but it's M.A.D, how are you going to resist that?! 😅
Gone is the Russel of the Casio and affordable watches., slowly drifting to luxury watches. I miss the old Russel. Ain't spending over 5000€ on a watch even though I can afford it.

You can also get a grey alligator strap that goes even better with the dial and bezel

The movement in this watch is a Cartier 1847 MC in-house movement. Not an ETA movement as suggested in this video.
This is my absolute grail watch. Unfortunately recent job loss means its going to be a while before i cam get one.
It looks like there's a huge chunk of printing missing on the railroad track at the 18-20 min. mark.
Saw that as well, I know it's used but how do you flake something like that off? Maybe serviced and they did it?

I bought a stainless steel Dumont in Large for my dad and this model for myself. Everyone likes his better 😂.
I believe this particular model has the 1847 MC movement which is NOT essentially a ETA movement.
