I love that they brought it back and that it looks like the original, but £1400 is a wee bit too much in my opinion.
“Half played game of Mouse Trap I’ve had with Tony” 😂 Classic Mr Pagani
That killed me, lol
Ahhh Mr. Pagani. been missing him lately!
No date window - yeah!!!
The watch is great but it was even better to see Mr Pagani and Kurt again!
Love it, want it, can't afford it 😭
Little expensive for an ETA with no complications, 39mm & no bracelet imho, I think it's one of those watches that you'll be on the fence until you get your hands on it and see what the build is like 'in the flesh', a 4yr warranty is great though, but Oris have similar, Personally would probably always prefer an Oris.
Great content as usual, WTWS cracks me up everytime! 👏👍✌🤘🖖👌🤙🍻
It’s great to have Mr Pagani and Kurt Santana back!
“This is one of my favorite watches…for the minute .”
I'm not a fan of dive watches AT ALL, but this one intrigues me. You could wear it diving but it would be just as home on the wrist while wearing a bespoke suit, cruising across the countryside in an oldtimer vehicle while smoking a pipe. It is dive watch that looks like an elegant, vintage timepiece. Very well done!!
very retro ! very nice ! the blue is amazing ! and welcome back Mr Pagani
Kurt Santana always gets me.
Mr Pagani & Kurt Santana!
Very nice 👍
This is probably my fav skin diver ❤ Thank you for the phenomenal review ❤
Great to see the others back on the channel 👏
I hadn’t heard of this brand before. Thanks for introducing it to me. Great looking watch. ❤🙏🏼
Honestly Russell I’m elated you made this vid! I’ve been so excited about this watch since it came out and it feels like I’m taking crazy pills cuz no one else is biting. Couldn’t find any mainstream RUclips content on it and all reviews said it’s down the middle but a bit late on the vintage reissue trend and a bit expensive. I think it’s Perfect case proportions and dial and history make it nearly a perfect watch! Do totally agree about the lack of lume on bezel and second hand, and matte bezel would be best. But now my fav channel has reviewed my current fav watch and validated my feels, I’m having a great weekend altogether 😂 one of these in my future for sure. Thanks Russ!
Possibly the best "What the wife said" segments yet! Good stuff! And I LOVE this watch!!! Right up my street! Another great review Russell!
Love your reviews. Entertaining and factual. Can't ask for anything more. Keep up the great work.
You are a gent thank you
Excellent review, I have a 70's Cricket at my brothers gaff to go in for servicing. Lovely, lovely watch.
Have been looking at these new skin divers and your review is a definite influence on choices to make next year. Have to get the BB58 before any big choices.
I think you chose the right colour dial too.
This one is a beaut, big thanks for sharing your view - really appreciated!
Thanks for showcasing this great brand Russ!!
I first discovered this brand on the wrist of my grandfather oh so many decades ago.
I now inherited his watch and it’s now in tip top chape! I was hoping Vulcain would be revived and now, after 20 years in the shadows, it seems I see this one everywhere … and that’s a good thing!
Thanks for sharing your passion my friend. Keep ‘em coming! 😄👍🏻
I don't normally care for divers but this watch is so beautiful and it's vintage look makes it seem like it was built in the 1960's. It's absolutely stunning and the metallic blue dial.. Wow.!!! Great review!!
First skin diver style I've seen I actually like ! Nice one Russ !
That watch looks seriously phenomenal. Was not aware of this one. I’ve owned a few divers 65’s in the past, but just could never love them enough to hang on to. This is very tempting..
That’s a beauty of a watch! Great review Russell!!
Very nice! The Vulcain 1970 Chronograph also seems very appealing.
Great vid! Love Vulcain. Criminally underrated watch brand.
Just got to love this gentleman.. especially the guy from the US 🤣
Great review, I largely agree with your assessment. I did crack mine open to have a look at the movement itself. I was a little disappointed to discover that while it does in fact have Incabloc on the balance, in every other way it’s a completely bog standard 2824-2 (Vulcain states it’s elabore grade but I couldn’t verify that) . They didn’t do any engraving or embellishment at all, not even on the rotor. I realize it’s a minor point given that it has a solid case back and few people will be bothered to open them up, but other brands at lower price points have managed to do at least something with the movement.
This really is one of your best……the characters are back.! 🎉
I was on their site this afternoon here in Australia Russ. I really like the orange dial myself.😎👍🏼
I wanted a Cricket for so long but like you didn't want to go the vintage route so I jumped immediately when I saw the President's 50's reissue on sale for less then half price. It's a lovely and very different watch. This brand has been working with the same guy who brought back Nivada Grenchen, but so far hasn't done as well. Probably because It's possible to get into NG at a lower price I suppose. I do like this one but I'd look to buy it at discount. Not Swiss but anyone (especially in UK) looking for a nice skin diver reissue could do worse than look at the Newmark 71 (under £400). Newmark are probably best known for being one of the "Fab Four" makers of the 6BB RAF chronograph.
great video of a brand that definitely deserves more recognition..cracking watch for the money
It looks great! I would love to see it on a beads of rice bracelet
As a card carrying member of the Oris fan boy association that thumbnail caption hurt 😢 😂 Seriously though, this Vulcain looks fantastic and they’ve got some serious history behind the name. Awesome stuff MWC!
Hahahahahaha sorry Gareth! I love a good Oris ! It’s just that the 65 left me upset:( . I was literally at the AD ready to pay for it….. until I held it
lol... the minute I read the thumbnail title I felt the scent of the Vulcain skin-diver :-D
I love that you’re up for a bit of a scrap in the comments section.
Great vid 🎉🎉
Always!
Best looking watch that you've ever reviewed imho. Sacralidge maybe but I wish it was a quartz movement which would be perfect for me.
Great review, so nice to see Mr P, Wtws epic
I'm starting to think that Mr. Pagani's house is nothing but a green screen. Next time, I'm gonna check to see if any of the furniture has been moved in the background 🥸.
I love Vulcain! One of my dream watches is the 36mm Vulcain Cricket Classique. I've always been a sucker for mechanical alarm watches. The Classique is the best one you can get without paying JLC money.
If I ever see him I get him to give you a ring to arrange a play date!;)
That’s Russel’s real house, the green screen is the kids bedroom studio.
Once again great video, very entertaining, made my day that little bit better 👏 👏 👏 Mr MWC
Glad about that Gaz!
Great review ! the dial definitely gives a 70s vintage vibe which I love. The price point on a tropic strap is abit steep but suppose you’re buying into the history of the brand. On a bracelet I think it would look stunning.
Have you ever considered reviewing the Escudo Ocean Seacrest? It’s just recently been reviewed by Deetime and he loved it. On a tropic strap it’s actually cheaper than the Vulcain with arguably better specs.
Get one booked in!! 😉👌🏽
When it comes to dive watches, I'm too deep in the Seiko camp to consider Swiss anything, but it is a lovely watch and I do wish them success . Honestly, they need to put the cricket alarm bell in everything they make, not just the Cricket model. It's such a huge part of their identity.
Quite a bit outside my price range but a stunner nonetheless. I also like the vintage look with new movement concept. I’ll take a restomod Bronco over a new Ferrari all day long. Thanks for the very entertaining review!
Excellent production. You must be a great teacher, you present with interest abd genuine passion, with a great pinch of humour. Great looking watch, not showy and brash like some divers...
Thank you so much my friend!
I like the colour. And no date! Yay!
I don’t know much about that movement but it looks awesome
Love this watch, thank you! I was also looking at the Mido Ocean Star Tribute Gradient Blue, as a holdover until I can afford the BB58 Blue. What d you think of the Mido? Cheers!
Amazing. Beautiful.
Great stuff Russ! I was looking at these when they first came out, love the style, vibe, everything. Vulcain has a cool heritage and feel to them, I may get this or end up with one of the Crickets as I love the unique look of that movement 👍 And their bicompax chronos 💥 incabloc on the dial ❤
Cheers Stu! I had heard of the brand but never realised the rich history and the significance of the brand with the alarm watch and I think they were one off tbh he first to use tritium lume instead of radium?
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I didn't know they were the first to replace radium with tritium just knew all about the Cricket, president connection etc. What is knew to me and exciting is the skin diver and also the chronos from their history. Love them! 👍
Yep that’s a beauty!! Sign me up !!
Great show, nice watch and good price!
I love it, I am not a fan of Swiss made it doesn't ensure quality, but this one it pretty amazing. For the price it should have a metal bracelet. Would look great on a NATO.
Nice review. Was interested in this watch for a while and I believe it could be fitted on a particular Forstner bracelet.
Oooo yes!!
Nice find. Stunning dial; no bracelet is a downer. Was wearing my Pelagos 39 this week and enjoying the bezel feel/sound.
Wife might be due for a holiday. Cancer sticks? Was it the name Vulcain?
Got me there Russell though it was going to be glycine
Great review.
A fine watch indeed.
Like this one, understated and vintage, can I have it!
No date gives perfect symmetry. I agree.
I prefer the Squale
I ordered this with the new orange dial.
The orange 🍊 dial just joined my short list. I been waiting for a none faux patina dial. Really glad they didn't go that route with the orange dial
Amazing!!!
Thats a handsome watch!
the numbers on the bezel look like "1,0", "2,0" etc. to me. can't unsee it :(
The doll isn’t Tony’s is it mate? C’Mon be honest. We’re all friends here! 😂
Hey hello, greetings from Berlin and thank you for another great and funny review. This brand was kind of new for me. I found out about it while searching for a classic automatic watch with a black dial and a leather strap. So I found the Vulcain Grand Prix 39mm Automatico 670171A00.BAC201.
AND I found this beautiful skin diver. So Vulcain did a really good job with this recreation. I own some Seiko Divers on the same price level, but something is always wrong. Too big. Too thick. The bezel too wide. Or just done without a clear concept like the new Seiko SJE 101 Marine Master (which I do not own) and far too expensive.
This one here looks really good to me and done with a concept. Clear lines, no date, really nice proportions diameter/ thickness/ bezel size. The colour options are great. A bracelet would have been nice. But overall if I'll go for another diver it's gonna be this Vulcain!
PS: I would like to see a review of the Vulcain Grand Prix 39mm Automatico 670171A00.BAC201.
I bought one (black dial) last summer and I was so close from texting you to ask you if you wanted to borrow it to review it. So glad you made this video. I agree with everything, such a beautiful watch and it is my favourite skin diver. I only have 1 issue with it. There is no AR coating and I tend to get a lot of reflection on the dial that takes away some of the beauty of it. Is this not an issue for you?
FYI they just released a bracelet for the nautique but it looks so terribly bad.
Thanks for this my friend! AR coating? Naaa just turn your wrist in more;) I’ll check the bracelet out!
I tried but in some lights all I can see on the face of the watch is my big ugly face 😂… take a seat before you start looking for the bracelet you don’t want to hurt yourself falling down from the shock lol
They need to add lume to the bezel and fix the finish, like you said, but that's easy enough to address in next year's model. Other that that, it's pretty much perfect. That said, it IS a little over-priced as the ETA movement isn't incredibly special. Good and tough and all of that, but IMO it really should be in the $800-$1200 range.
Note - you can get the same movement in something like a Steinhart Ocean 39 for closer to £500. Same accuracy, better specs. So, yes, fantastic, but a bit overpriced. ( German made with a Swiss movement inside.. I'm not picky here - close enough, TBH )
5:44 Already done it, mate!
Gent!
Looks great to me.
I wonder if the ETA movement is the 2824-2?
Very nice watch 👍
I wish they would’ve matched the color of the bezel indices with the face indices
Not everything is about Rolex- you said a mouthful there friend!
Hey MWC, love your channel but why the swipes at the Divers 65? I personally adore both my Divers 65! (Caliber 400 12 H/ Chronograph). I’ve also been considering the Vulcan. I think there’s room for both.
Can you review the air fix watches
Nice watch. I’ll stick with my Diver’s 65 tho
Man, that is sweet.
Oh no. It's nicer than my Aquis. It's beautiful.
Looked into this but the pricing and no bracelet put me off. Ended up buying a lightly used Oris 65 40mm on a bracelet for around $900 USD which I couldn’t be happier with. Also the bezel action on mine is spot on!
Omg it's beautiful one!!! But I still can't afford.
Hey Russell, i love your channel. I realise you have done a review o the Tudor Pelagos 39. But what do you think of the Pelagos 42 mm. Can you so a review of this watch against the 39 mm. In my opinion i prefer the original 42mm, i think all round its a better watch. Thanks mate
I like this guy - He Really looks mad!😂
Oh how I missed Curt Santana and Mr Pagani!!!
Reminds me of the Baltic Aquascaphe except the Baltic is a sandwich dial
here we go
I almost bought a vintage one of these recently.
I like it very much
So for a vintage skin diver here are my thoughts: at £1400 or $2600 Australian pesos in my part of the world, I’d reach for this over a similarly vibed Longines Legend Diver 39mm which is priced locally for me at $4125 (approx £2200) on the BOR bracelet.
re: cigarettes -- I think that the shine of the blue dial is reminiscent of some of the metallic-blue that was popular on the packs of some brands of cigarettes, especially back in the 70's. Though I am unfamiliar with UK brands, so I might be completely missing what Mrs. MWC is seeing.
I would like to have a Robocop 2 Blue watch! But does it exist???
And now they added a metal bracelet with a quick adjust clasp 🎉
Rubber strap very Yema-esque!
It's a killer dial, but import taxes from goods bought in Switzerland is also a deal killer
Hmmmm ok
Curt Santana from deep. He’s back baby
Crazy Man est de retour !
Vulcain used to be a value/budget brand, to those familiar with the company this push up market and the associated pricing is a bit incongrueus (sp?), strange then and risible frankly, this is attractive if somewhat standard Rolex dialled diver that should be £500. By pricing this in the Lux territory they're abandoning the core values that would have carried some of the vintage customers over, the cigarettes are Rothmans btw.......
Usually I agree with you. Not sure why the hatchet job on the clearly better Oris 65. Firstly nothing wrong with the bezel action on the 65, its decent. The dial has better finishing, with applied indices, rather than the cheap blobs of lume on the Vulcain, the Oris also has one of the best domed sapphire glass seen on any watch and a very well put together steel bracelet too. I think its pretty obvious that the Oris is a higher grade and justifiably a little more expensive. The Vulcain is ok, but I think you got overly excited of a fairly average vintage re release.
Oh man, completely disagree there! Very handled 6 65’s in total, same awful bezel , didn’t feel the luxury in what is portrayed to us as a luxury watch.
Haven’t seen the full cast for a while 😂
Yes! Mr. P is back
Talking about tool blue dive watches... did you ever review the Hamilton Khaki Navi Scuba?
Very cool!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR great wirh 30bar, ceramic bezel and 80hs power reserve. I guess it would be on the big size camp for you
Love the vintage looks, love the flatness, I am even ok with no bracelet since normally that would help keep the price down. BUT the problem is the price. Sorry but over 1000, way too much.
