- Over 3 decades ago Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons formed one of the most popular California rock bands of the '70s, The Doobie Brothers. They racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S., along with a number of radio hits like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "China Grove." With the addition of Skunk Baxter and Michael McDonald in the mid seventies the bands sound began to include more jazz and pop and two more platinum albums followed. We are proud to launch Lexington Lab Band with this very first episode that covers what we believe are 4 of their very best songs - two from each era of their remarkable run. He rode with Pat Simmons on his Harley up the coast here in California last year. I believe he's a few years older than Pat. Love the music from the sixties and seventies. Take care and keep playing.

i often tell people if i could meet any guitarist alive today it would be Patrick Simmons. He's such a great guitarist and a major influence - maybe one day!

Never heard of you guys until now. I started playing music in the late 60's, but my generation of music is from the 70's. The Doobies are one of my favorite bands. You guys nail their music. Bravo!!!!!

I'm so happy to see you guys honor the Doobie Brothers Band. Another of my favorite guitar bands, with some of the best harmonies in the history of rock bands. Just another on the list of great bands who have been disrespected by the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland.
Just to name a few: Doobies, Foreigner, The Moody Blues, J.Geils Band, Carly Simon, Carole King, Todd Rundgren, Boston, Kansas, and a whole host of other deserving artists...Anyway, you guys honor everyone you play...Thank you guys, my wife and I think you are absolutely incredible singers/ musicians, and I've been spreading the word up & down the New England area...
