- Even though everyone told me there wouldn't be crab around I gave it a shot. Through a few methods, I managed to land a couple make a marinade and grill them up for a perfect spring day and meal.

Thanks for the shout out Will and thanks to your supporters trying out Starter King for the first time!
Amazing product!
“It is windy so there will be a lot of wind”. Ha love it. Something I would definitely do!!
Haha no one ever said I was smart
😂😂
Good for you will, some people just don’t care!!! Thanks for being one of the ones that do!!😊
Love that you care about the fisheries. They have no idea how damaging that can be.
They destroy it then Wonder why it’s collapsing
Thanks for sharing. Brings me back to my youth, crabbing in Long Island get a bucket full on a good day back in the 70s. Looks delicious too 👊🏻
When I was a kid we’d go to sunken meadow and get 20-30 in an hour. Now I’m struggling to get 3!!
Grilled crabs is my favorite way to eat them. Baste with old bay garlic butter combo, toss on some panko crumbs and Parmesan cheese at the end. Only drawback is the meat sticks to the shell way more than steaming. Tougher to pick, but delicious. Thanks for the video!
It does stick more! I found that to be the case anyway
Another great one Will! And it's great you're learning as you go and always trying new stuff, makes it real and very relatable.
Always gotta try new methods. Most people won’t show the learning process out of fear of looking stupid
Great video! I love your sense of adventure with food
Appreciate it thank you!
We have a super nice man made, regularly stocked, city pond here in the desert and every time I go people just suck leaving all the lines, leaders, soft plastics, and everything you can think of on the bank. Instead of packing out their trash, they deposit cups, cans, bags and everything else in the pvc line disposal receptacles.
It’s upsetting in the very least
Enjoyable adventure Will. Thanks for bringing me along. That crab looks so good!
Thank you for tuning in!
Try, fish heads on a line. You sparked many memories. Thank you.
I will!
When you're eating and it's finger lickin' good, we know it's the best recipe. Enjoy. Keep filming we'll keep watching!!!
Thank you! Will do!
There's a lot of chicken here little buddy!!! Lol!! Great video!
Guy wanted it prepared by Gordon Ramsay
@@CookingWithClams lol
Good Job Will! I can't stand when people leave trash in and around the water. It drives me nuts! Every time I'm out on the water I'm picking up trash. I also call them "Blue Claw Crabs". Can't go wrong with grilled crabs!
It’s frustrating to me, especially with the bones attached so a bird can choke on it
Another Will netting adventure like netting the shrimp at night! He seems to get a lot more when Aaron is along! Fun video! 😂👍
Hmmmm
Hay will I watched your craving video you did ok using a drop line the next time try dropping your line straight down don't throw your line out because when you pull it in the crab will be drawing on the sand or rocks that will make the crab to run and get off the bait try dropping the line straight down this way the crab will be feeling any rocks and other stuff that's at the bottom of the water pull the crab up really slow with one hand and scoop the crab 🦀 in the other hand and scoop him with the other hand with the net that's how I used to do it I am not telling you how to do it I am just saying that's how I did it plus you said you never grilled crab before. I never tried it before either I liked 👍 that video good job😊
GREAT advice! That makes sense. I will give it a try
love crab any way good job Will, most people do not take advantage of our all of our crustations.
I like changing it up
One of my favorite treats! There is nothing better than a group of friends, a couple bushels and a cooler of drinks!
Just wish I caught a bushel!
@@CookingWithClams just wish I had a couple friends! 🤣
Great video Will! Gotta say, this might be my favourite video yet. So simple & yet so elegant, what an amazing recipe! Pray your Mom is doing okay. And don’t forget, it’s 3 more than 99% of us watching had or caught today.
The one thing that amazes me is that you don’t use lobster picks.
Thanks for sharing!!!
I had one in the house but was too lazy to go get it!
loved that you used real lump charcoal
Gift from my brother in law. I’ll never go back
Those looked incredible!
I still prefer steamed but this was fun
Nice. I run into blue crabs every now and again will be good to have a recipe. Keen on watching this later.
My favorite is still having them stuffed
TOAO!!! The greatest chef !!! Minute in and already know the video is awesome!!! The Great WILL!!!
Thanks man!!
Grilled crabs? I'm a believer to date
My fist time ever doing it
Great one! Dont break them and use the body cavity to hold butter / marinade in it. Thanks again for sharing and taking us along
There are a few things I’d do differently. Cover them on the grill, throw themin the marinade right before cooking. Didn’t need to be overnight
Great episode will
Thank you!
I enjoyed watching you crack shells with your teeth, Will. That crab looked amazing as always, brother!
I can open beer bottles too!!
@@CookingWithClams You're wild bro, chill!
marie sharps is a wonderful sauce... sooo many flaves to choose... tyfs
Best sauce out there. The pineapple habanero is unbeatable
Looks good as usual.
Thanks again!
They should make those nets dark and mate finish. Seems so shinny on video that I’m surprised those crabs don’t swim away at first glance.
They did! The minute they saw me approaching they were gone
Hey Will nice video down here in South Louisiana when we have a crab boil we eat the fat in the crab always, Will get a nut cracker and a small bladed table knife crack the claws with the nut cracker and fish the meat out with the table knife we also cut the body in half to get to the meat sections tks for the video catch you on the next one.
Gonna try cutting in half next time!
Great video
Thank you!
Oh my goodness, can I come over???
From Lakeland Florida 💕💕💕
Haha for sure
Mmmmmmmm. Looks amazing
So good!
Zucchini , Crabs and puffers combo - perhaps? Yeah open round hoop net , no handle but rope hoist , and a quick hoist will smash it.
I’m getting one and going back
You gave a very important message in the beginning of your video!!
A little preachy but it was upsetting to see all that abandoned line there with chicken still attached
@@CookingWithClams I bet the people that did that don’t even have fishing licenses
Thanks Will
Thank you Ellen!
Love Blue Crabs especially drenched in Old Bay. 😊
Not much better than that
Just FYI, pull the tab at the bottom first and you can pull the shell off easier as they are attached. Least it is when they are steamed. Always fun seeing how people outside of Maryland eat these guys. Nicely done :)
Next time!
Usually when going after these crabs I put a small fish head like a croaker or any baitfish available, I have used chicken foot also
I’ll try it
Mouth watering stuff !!!! Fyi I love your yard 😊😊
In Trinidad we curry them !!!
I’ll do that next!
My mouth is watering for that crab. 😋😋😋
Mine too!
@@CookingWithClams Lol but you got to eat it. We need smellavision & tasteavision videos. 😆
Looks yummy
Thank you it was!
Yeah man I can see how that would be great!
Didn’t need the over night marinade, 30 minutes would have been fine
When they pull.....bring them in slowly......don't let your wife net the crabs!!! Ever!!! If they drop off.....let go of the chicken leg and they will pick it back up. If you do it from a skiff, they can't see you. Subtle is the name of the game. Nice knife! I usually us a butter knife. LOL.
I’d have to get a wife first!
We used to do this in a jetty in the pan handle of Florida and we would tie a string to a branch around 1 inch thick and maybe 10 inches long to make retrieval a lot easier. Just my two cents haha
Teach me the ways!
@@CookingWithClams you can almost retrieve with one hand leaving you with the other for the net.
Can’t wait to watch the next one
When crabbing, always use a small can of dog or cat food with 5 icepic holes... Texas Thang...
TNX 4 VID LOL
I tried that today actually
I love crab , if you ever get a chance look up Australian Mud Crab , dont know if they export them but they get huge , Cheers for another great episode
Oh I’ve seen Brodie moss catch plenty! They look so good
@@CookingWithClams Yeah Brodie is a pretty cool bloke , Cheers again for the great videos an congrats on 25K
Sup buddy✌️is see you didn’t share those with momma clams 😂🍻
She doesn’t always wanna be filmed
Your like a kid out there, Got lines every piling
Trying to up the stakes! Haha
@@CookingWithClams have too
If you fall in , grab the crab!
I should have just gotten in
Blue claws is also a baseball team in Lakewood nj
Are they finicky eaters too??
Will bring your net with the chicken. Show up to the battlefield, ready for battle. It's not waiting for the enemy to get back with his secret weapon to kill the opponent. 😂😂😂😂 crab life is a dangerous journey. One has to always be ready.
You make up for anything you feel you might have done better when you throw down in the kitchen with your creativity and vision to make what I would think is Michelin star level awesomeness
Haha next time I’m bringing EVERY weapon in my arsenal
@CookingWithClams love the videos, the blended shrimp peelings for the stock👍👍, keep up the great work
Seems the sign on the pier didn't get the memo about the crabs being called " blue claw" in Long Island
Haha, it was made in china
Nice chefinz
Thank you!
Some very nice size males! Glad to see you get on some! Crabbing collab soon?? Lollll
That spot has been good to me
If you run out of starter King, cotton balls and 91% rubbing alcohol will start your coals just as well.
Funny enough I don’t have either
Aloha. Or Vaseline.
I’m asking because I don’t know but can you use like a reverse casting net with chicken tied to wait then pull up the whole net?
Yes BUT In some areas crabs are trap shy and won’t go near it
Key West Waterman aka Dibs on Bottom
What about him?
Pull in slow and steady come up from underneath with net caught hundreds of crabs in nj for years
It’ll take me a few more times
id put the crab marinade on the veggies also...
I like when things I’m a plate taste different
Nice what spot is this? I’ve been going to blue point dock but a lot of shorts!
This IS BLUE POINT Then north shore
Don't worry Will, I got chicken legs too...
Another great video Will but now I want Blue Crab and iguana ...
Just Sayin
Micky C
I got talked outta cooking iguana ny a trapper, saying most have rat poison in their system
@@CookingWithClams Never knew that but I can certainly see them eating the rat poison, the eat everything else .
Note T Self; don't eat the Iguana in populated areas.
Good to know
Best wishes,
Micky C
Next time you catch a bunch, cook them in marinara sauce then use the sauce for spaghetti or any kind of pasta of your choice 👌
I wanna do that with lobster!
@@CookingWithClams or you can do lobster as well. You’re the content creator, you do whatever you want. I’ll just sit down, shut up and watch 😂👌
What towns are u in? Please explain, LI is a big island-u at smiths point, Long Beach, Babylon? Or somewhere in between?
I went to bluepoint babylon and Centerport
Marie sharp (Belize )❤
Undefeated
Think the shadows were scaring them
I do too
Where did you get your charcoal grill? Crab looks Amazing
A company called London sunshine
Thank you
What type of grill are you using?
London sunshine backpack grill
I laughed when you measured the big one and all we could see was the wood
So did I when I watch it back
@@CookingWithClams part of what makes it a great video
What type of stove are you using?? Where can you buy it?
Check my Amazon link in the description
@@CookingWithClams Thanks, but I did not see that grill you cooked the crabs on.
Whats the legality on leaving lines out is there a restriction on how often you need to check a line or a trap or does it have to be actively tended. i know finicking with other peoples tackle/equipment even if illegally placed can get you in hot water here.
You mean the discarded fishing line? Or the lines I have out?
@@CookingWithClams the discarded stuff
New Yorkers.....am i right 😂
Ha
Why would u drop lines without a net present?
I saw those guys had a net and only put one in to honestly test to see which would attract more crab. I’ve heard majority are trap shy and only go after bare chicken. I wasn’t thinking that far ahead
Her man great job
I love that grill
What’s the name ??
From a company called London sunshine
No one north of Maryland, arguably north of VA, knows how to catch/cook crabs. Just saying.😄
I’m not gonna argue this… ha
Your crazy, let me guess "Maryland style" is king right ??? The only reason why that style is so popular is the simple fact that people are to lazy to clean them properly and I stand by this because what other fish/animal that we harvest we EAT THE GUTS??? none..... Fortescue NJ , we know a thing or two about blue claws...
Can we get a replay where you measure the crab, with the two screws in the wood? There was a board in the way.
Just messing with ya.
Hahaha the humor isn’t lost on me. I watched the footage back and was laughing at myself
Aloha. You still going to Alaska? Dungeness.
We are!
Hey CWC! What you need is a crab snare:
ruclips.net/video/rAgpxitB5gA/видео.htmlsi=OTsH-KSxdN0eeM6b
Very commonly used for dungeness crab off the coast of California. I would check with someone at NY Fish & Wildlife to see if they're allowed, though- they are illegal in Maryland, for example. Hope this helps! ❤
(BTW- Big thumbs up on discovering Marie Sharp's- their sauces are the BOMB!)
I just got one! Used it in southern florida for speckled crab
😎✌️👍funny
blowfish catch and cook!!!!!
Got one on here
New Yorka's
Seriously
I am so envious of your fisheries, we are forbidden any type of recreational crab or lobster fishing. Even catching the invasive European Green crabs is technically illegal here.
Really?? Where are you?
Aloha. Where you stay?
@@CookingWithClams New Brunswick, Canada. East coast, right against the Maine border. Like literally, I get my gas and milk in Calais Maine, lol.
You must have Amish in your area. They don't care about rules and regulations
Maybe
Aloha. I’m embarrassed to say, but fishermen are the worst about trash. Never understood it because it just doesn’t make sense to me.
It’s crazy actually
way too much talking imo...
More talking? You got it!
Fried chicken lives matter!! TOAO!!
I had more chicken than crabs
