Ido Amiaz about Israel’s Sh*ttiest Airline 🇮🇱

  • EL AL is an Israeli airline I was always told to avoid. I didn't purposely avoid it, but I never flew with them. Then one day, it was the best way to get from Israel to Thailand. Let's see if it's as bad as they say.

As long as the airliner had no crushes or falls from the sky then as far as Engineering and safety goes it is the best but people hate it because it sort of reminds them of what goes in Israel and palestine... I posted an article on my website that peace is possible in Israel and Palestine if you will read it if you got time...

Here in South Asia.. we have these clan based community systems..
.. and one such community or rather the classification is the 'baniya' (pronounced: bunny'ya) community.
Mostly they/we used to be merchants/ traders (self businesses).
But the main thing about baniya people is that they are supposed to be street smart and money wise.
      .
We have baniyas here in ainda.. but acquaintances and friends in Pakistan too inform that there are few who identify as baniyan.
      .
And by gawd.. I think you are a perfect example of having baniyan brains.. friend :-) ... when you mentioned the alternative way of getting free coffee by trying the samples.👌🏼👍🏼🤍🤍
      .
And also good for you that you get a cheaper flight.
      .
Delhi Bangkok is a busy sector with fairly good competition and just over four hours flight time.
And still the lowest fare (around November 2023) is 21-22000 INR (265-270 USD).
So i guess an eight hour long flight from Isreal to Thailand for about 28000 INR is a fairly good deal.
      .
The review was miniature but thanks for covering the amenities, seats, food, toilet and in flight entertainment (or the lack of it).
      .
Appreciate how you have risen to support yourselves by doing what you love and spreading knowledge too.

EL AL is a company that cannot fly on Saturdays because part of the religious public wouldn't accept it. So they earn money 6 days a week while all other companies earn money 7 days a week.
Moreover, EL AL can't be part of an international alliance (like SkyTeam or Star Alliance for example). To make it happen, Tel-Aviv airport should be turned into a hub from which you can connect to other destinations (in particular neighboring countries) and since Israel's relations with its Arab neighbors have been difficult, it has still not happened.
In such conditions, it's actually not bad that the company has still not bankrupted.

    • @dospalmascb
      @dospalmascb Месяц назад

you can use TLV as a hub, for example London-Tel Aviv-Athens. Security is a bit of an issue but it's doable. Given that Israel as a whole is pretty much shabbat observant, there is nothing wrong with not flying on Friday evenings and Saturday daytimes, for me Shabbat is very improtant, In some more rural parts of scotland the islanders and the church don't allow flights on a sunday, and if you work, oooooomg it makes shabbat look like a holiday camp. I'm a diaspora jew that would love to live in Israel. Aliyah pending....

As a frequent tourist in Israel I refuse to fly any other airplane than El Al. I see a lot of foreign airlines pausing and resuming operations, canceling or rescheduling planes.
With El Al I know that I at least get to my destination and home again.
If they could just put a damn inflight menu with a 8€ bottle of terrible wine, I would be the happiest El Al traveler in the world!

Your videos are addictive! It's a rainy day and I spent the day watching some of your videos, haha. Thanks also for doing an airport tour and a flight report, but with a twist! A few days ago a vlogger named John Cahill also made a review on El Al for his TLV-LHR flight. But yours, despite the title, somehow had a not so bad experience overall. And you made this review as an Israeli, so it's kinda special too.

EL AL is often rated based on who is traveling with you and the amount of security check you need to do. If it's a full flight, lots of noisy people, lots of religious people praying and blocking the isles than it can be a less pleasant flight. They'ev lost points on the entertainment system (on this flight) it seems to me but gained some with the meal that seems a lot better then most airlines (in other flights always pre-order the kosher meals if available for free even if you don't keep kosher as it tends to be better).

    • @sailaab

Thanks for the last tip about food.
      .
Any idea how it is to travel in that part of the world if someone (especially senior citizens) are vegetarian?
As in no eggs or products that contain egg parts (most cakes/ pastries) and obviously no sea food or meats?
      .
Like I have people here I South Asia.. eager to see the world.. but I wonder if such flights out of and into places where mostly people eat non-veg.. would have pre-planned vegetarian trays.

    • @tranquilitytranquility1407
      @tranquilitytranquility1407 8 месяцев назад +1

@sailaab You need to pre-order special meal “Asian Vegetarian” at least 2 days before the flight directly with the airline. It’s free. All normal airlines that offer food do them regardless of destination.
There all sorts of special meals one can choose from: Vegetarian, Kosher, Gluten Free etc etc

One time I got to the gate and they were asking people to volunteer to be bumped to the next flight, they paid me $400! There used to be super cheap flight to Kiev and Moscow on Transero airlines, and they had a terminal cant remember where but there was actually a smoking lounge. Is the smoking pod still in the first concourse before security? I love duty free, I liked to look at all the awesome watches and buy a bottle of vodka they would deliver to the gate and of course drink it on the flight (probably not supposed to do that).

I don't know where you got the impression El Al was a bad airline.I never heard that & I've had good experiences flying on it multiple times because it's only airline I know of that has non-stop flights from Tel Aviv to LA. It is known as one of the more expensive airlines, this is partly because they offer a lot of direct flights to many locations & they take security very seriously, often with their own security in airports.

ElAl is much better than it used to be, as they've updated many of their planes. Still, it depends on which route and which plane you get. The route also affects the demographics. It's not pleasant when the plane is full of screaming kids or students who stay up the whole flight moving around and talking to each other.

El Al is the most secure airline is the world (has guards on board, anti missile system better aircraft systems etc) additionally el al got a very good renovation with a new Dreamliner, a 5 star rating from apex for service, and I flew in el als 777 a few years ago and the touch screen was bad (it was the same then) but EL AL renovated their 777 and now it is better. Btw, you do get multimedia content on the B777, just not through the inflight screens which are awfully old, but through a streamer so you can watch it from your own device. Not ideal, but it is temporary until they finish renovating all their B777.

FWIW, older planes on all airlines are always going to have a sucky 'old' experience, El Al is no different and that 777 was once new and advanced. The new 787s have the latest entertainment systems.

El Al is the flag carrier of Israel " far and beyond" I have tried different airlines but I think El Al is not the best and the worst. There are pros and cons taking an El Al flight. However, what i like most is the foods and the tight security. ( I have noticed that they have their own security measures in every boarding) It maybe too much questions and interrogations to others but for your own good and safeness. Having said that, too noisy and people complaints in every little things most of the time- they don't behave and listen but approachable people though :) love Israel!

If I may correct you Please it’s not Arabian golf it’s called Persian golf. It was always Persian golf and will stay this way. Thanks for your amazing videos.

I thought el al was good. I flew on up. It was much better than most low cost airlines. Also flew el al a few times and was good. However I havnt flown them in the last 7 years. A lot can change in an airline. Especially since a PANDEMIC happened in the middle of it which put a big fat smack on the airline industry

They are much better than they used to be. Certain flights suck (NY/TLV), I have really enjoyed my flights in Bus. LA, London, Milan, etc.

@@theSalukie there are better alternatives, Emirates flies almost daily to Johannesburg on an A380/777 and Emirates is a vastly superior airline to the Crappy El Al that only flies twice a week to Johannesburg. Yes its a connection in Dubai, but better overall experience, and what unlimited oil wealth can do for a country.
