My husband and I were on a 24 night Crystal Cruise from Fort Lauderdale down to Brazil and this KeepingupAppearances show came on the TV that we had never seen before.My favorite episode was when Hyacinth and Richard missed their very first cruise as they waited on the pier with their bags. The ship had already left and so I think they had to fly to the next port and then they happened to see her sister and her husband on the ship and they didn't know how they could have afforded it. Hyacinth thought that they were stowaways until one night at the Captain's Party the captain made an announcement saying that there was a couple on board who had won the cruise in a contest and it was Hyacinths sister and her husband.it was hilarious. I wish I could see it again but I haven't seen it on the RUclips. does anybody know how to find it??

You all know how "our" Hyacinth is, and look at her sheepish face when she "felt faint" and simultaneously "recovered" in front of the Rolls! The same happened when she decided to buy the apartment in a mansion that nearly gave Richard a heart attack (later he found out she couldn't buy more!). She's an absolute master but he is playing (with equal mastery)a character that doesn't really exist (a few exceptions, of course).
I adore this show. Patricia Routledge is my favourite actress. This episode went a bit far though with the Buckets ending up in the hands of the police!

I remember seeing this and thinking that if I were in Richard's shoes I'd have pivoted from the chauffeur being on holiday to "I really prefer a smaller car when driving myself, the Rolls is to be driven in, would you mind doing the honors sir?" and playing along while the salesman drove, under the blanket of the dealership's insurance policy...
It always made me wonder, after this particular episode where her stupidity got them arrested, that Richard never divorced her. He was bullied, browbeaten, dominated and plain bulldozed by Hyacinth's snobbery and narcissism. Sure, they had a very well looked after home, but Richard could never relax in it or do something he wanted in the marriage.
That's what I love about the entire content, each of Her Sisters were dysfunctional in a different way, obviously from a Father who suffered from PTSD as a Veteran. Hyacinth was socially insecure, Rose over sexualized and couldn't keep a man, Violet, whom did marry up, was manipulative to maintain that status.....and Daisy, who wasn't really ambitious.
You couldn't help but like Richard. He played the part so well.
His patience had no limits. RIP.🙏🙏
