We're American and our family has always enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances. We even named our small flock of chickens Hyacinth, Daisy, Rose and Violet - and their yard is known as the Bucket Barn. Thank you for your video.
SW PA here…… been watching since the 90’s when I was a New Jerseyan! Continuing the journey on Britbox….. I still laugh just as much as when I first started watching! Classic comedy, wonderful actors!
I used to work for a lady that looked and acted so much like Hyacinth you would swear that they were twin sisters. She came from some little small town to our town...we only had one more stop light than they did, but she and her husband began owning some businesses and making a little more money than most....and she thought she was IT. Her husband didn't look like Richard, but he was just as henpecked and jumped at her every call. They had the better house, the better vehicle, the nicer clothes...she kept a clean house just like H. I wish I had a pic of her to post....all of the Hyacinth lovers would be shocked at her build, her hair...same hairdo..same color.
American here. I loved watching Keeping Up Appearances with my hubby back in the 90s. Hyacinth always reminded me of certain relatives of mine. I always felt bad for Richard, and cheered when he would stand up for himself!
Keeping Up Appearances is my all time favourite classic British Comedy. I have the DVD Boxset. Me and my Dad used to watch it together. He wasn’t an emotional man, but when this was on he’d laugh out loud. I miss him so much, it’ll always be our show. ❤

I am from The USA and watched This on PBS every Saturday night. When my partner was living he and I watched it every saturday night and we got lots of laughs from the show
The algorithm strikes again. Not sure why this video popped up today but so glad it did. A trip down memory lane, watching the show as a child in the 90s, everyone belly laughing at Hyacinth's antics. They really dont make them like this anymore.
Have you ever noticed that we get to see glimpses of Sheridan on the show? You can see his childhood photo in a sailor suit in the intro to the show, and in the beginning of one episode, we see the back of his head in the back seat of a car when he's returning to the polytechnic after a visit.
I am an American who has been a fan of KUA for many years. One of my friends thought it was funny that, if I ever visit England, visiting the filming locations for KUA is one of the main things I want to do. I guess you could say it's on my "Bucket" list.
Hyacinth: Richard, I will not have waving to neighbours wearing dirty gardening gloves. Richard: They’re gardening gloves, they tend to get dirty when gardening. Hyacinth: Well can’t you have one pair for gardening and one pair for waving?
Clive Walter Swift (Richard) was so grateful to the audience / fans of this show. Until this he said he had always just been a jobbing actor of little fame and this show gave him a pension :) He seemed as kindly and calm in real life as on the show.
Same here!!! Still loving the Saturday night line up on PBS. I do wish they would show rerun episodes of Poldark. ❤😊 Thankful they re-air All Creatures and Victoria from time to time.🎉
Can't believe each episode is basically the same with slightly different gags - there was a familiarity every time we visited those locations and basically the same thing would happen. Simple times, it made us happy.
Really - funny side splitting humor - laughed so much watching this show - I love this show - well written and really danced smartly around British classes and political plight. Facial expressions alone spoke volumes.
US American here from across the pond. I really love how mortified Hyacinth would look whenever something happens that would upset her idea of idyllic home life. She never fails to be _completely_ mortified whenever Onslow showed up in his old vehicle and it _always_ backfired, making her _extra_ mortified! And of course with Hyacinth it's always "The BOUQUET residence, the lady of the house speaking", even though Richard didn't mind "Bucket" at all! And then there's Rose, always chasing the dishy vicar. "I want to be a nun!"
As an American teenager back then I really enjoyed watching Keeping up Appearances. You better move that inferior car because the Vicar is coming for tea and light refreshments!
I'm from New York City and even I grew up watching Keeping Up Appearances. They used to air this show and Mr. Bean as well as other Brit shows like Dr. Who, Monty Python and Benny Hill. I love those shows so much that when RUclips started in 2005 I immediately searched these shows and now I'm even a fan of other Brit shows like The Eastenders, Top Of The Pops, Ali G, and even that famous Cake Baking show you guys have that I forgot the name of. Good on you mates for being so good in Comedy, Music and creating our language that we speak here in the states. Cheers.
Very big in the 80's and 90's were Minder and Only fools and horses. Minder started out as a fairly serious show about someone who protected a minor villain but gradually morphed into comedy. Only fools and horses were about a struggling working class family which the BBC wanted to finish after series 1 as the BBC were a bit posh/stuck up.
Now can you imagine if the era's were a little closer we could have had a crossover episode of Hyacinth booking a holiday at a "five star hotel" only to arrive at Fawlty towers... 😂 😂
And it’s nice to see Onslow and Daisy house i remember the dog in the car always barking at Hyacinth 🤣 and gate funny Hyacinth always says to Richard leave it leave it 🤣
Harold Snoad who wrote this series passed on June 2nd 2024. Judy Cornwell, Patricia Routledge, David Griffin, Marion Barron, Peter Cellier are the only surviving main cast member since the series ended as of 2024.
Thank you for going to the actual exterior sites and showing them to us!! As an American fan of Keeping Up Appearances, I'm truly grateful for you going to the real locations and showing them to us!!
I love it! I wish I could have been there too. KUA is one of my absolute favorite series, and I've seen every episode multiple times. I think my favorite was when Richard finally yelled at Hyacinth after she berated a strange who was trying to make a phone call from a public phone box. Superb acting by every cast member. And oddly enough, they were ALL born in February. What a strange coincidence.
I absolutely adored this show on BBC America. I still enjoy the show when I can catch it. There are so many good laughs. The cast is fantastic. I always wondered where exactly the Bucket house was actually located in the London suburban area.
I live in the USA, Mississippi but I love this show! It's one of my all time favorites. I watch a lot of other classics too including Are You Being Served, That's My Boy, The Good Life, The Vicar of Dibley, To the Manor Born, and Waiting for God! Love them all!
Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorite shows. Thanks, Henry, for taking us on the tour. I was thinking about the house that was used as Hyacinth's house. If I was the owner of that house, I would get an interior decorator to duplicate the house on the inside to look just like the original sets. That would be so cool!
One of my favorite series! I was stationed in England in the 80's and started watching it there. In Texas, my neighbor was from England- we loved watching it together and laughing about it! Thank you so much for sharing this. Onslo was one of my favorite characters.
Keeping up Appearances is one of my favorites, but I'm not sure I'd have the cheek to just show up at the actual house. I briefly met Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) before he died, a warm and friendly soul.
Well I'm Australian of English mostly descent and my Grandmother, and my oldest Sister was both like Keeping up appearances. In fact when I first watched it, I thought the show could've been made about my Grandmother who born in 1893, it was her Grandmother who had come to Australia from Manchester. A great show.
She was desperate to get into Emmet's production of The Boyfriend in the church hall. Richard told her it was about young people in the first flush of romance. Hyacinth replies "Young! I can do young. It's all make-up and wigs."
American viewer, always loved watching this show and felt so bad for Richard, I remember the show where Richard retired but was dreading it because he would be home with his wife Hyacinth all the time. Also liked To the Manor Born.
My favorite Hyacinth encounters outside this house was with the scared mailman who would rather throw her the mail from afar but could not because he had bring it to her door as per government rules where Hyacinth would swiftly open her door to surprise him. Also, their father Daddy getting lost all the time was hilarious. Quick trivia answer. The hat Onslow wore for most of the seasons that had an FH on it was given to him as a gift in Australia when he went down there during the show's run. Cheers from New York City.
I loved watching Keeping up Appearances here in California on Friday nights. Friday nights was Britcom night and Are you being served was also another one that was shown. Great Video, thank you!😊
I so wish I could drive down that street and take it all in. I discovered Keeping Up Appearances not too long ago, and I can't wait to get to see all the episodes.
I'm from the U.S. and loved 'keeping up appearances' and all the Friday night "Britcoms"..'As time goes by' was another beloved favorite. God bless ! Love from the U.S.!
I often wondered where the houses were and so happy you showed us what they looked like now and where they are. You a great chap. Wish I could meet up with you when I am in the UK again to show me around!
Interesting! I was thinking about the mailman and the milkman; they always had 'special' interactions with Hyacinth. There always had to be something in the mail for her and Mrs. Bucket wanted her own milk bottles back, the ones she specially washed. What a tremendous show; I never tire of watching!
"It's pronounced Bouquet" 😂😂😂. Such a great sitcom with iconic characters. Me and my mom used to watch it regularly in Toronto, Canada. Glad to see from the comments that the show made its way around the globe. Impressive for a show before the internet and streaming. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🫡
Thank you for this video. Nostalgic to see both houses. I was expecting Hyacinth to barge out the front door and ask you to shift your wreck...the Lada😀
Sunday nights were for the Brit shows on PBS here in our area, & we would get everything from "Appearances" to "Downton" to "Selfridge", "Call The Midwife", "Are You Being Served?", etc. Oh yes, good times for Mom-daughter time on Sunday nights right outside of Raleigh, NC. Cheers from Across The Pond!
Absolutely loved keeping up apperances the best one was when they give the posh lady a lift into town and she beeps the horn at the pub and the man spills the tray of drinks then she ends up on the back of the lorry going through town Absolutely brilliant, appreciate seeing how they look now cheers for that mate
So sad the houses have been altered, I always think they should be preserved for prosperity when used in a tv series but they are private houses at the end of the day. I wish you could have visited a few more locations such as the vicarage, church hall and the hotels they went to. I love the Australian soap Neighbours and sadly those houses have been altered. With regard to your Lada, park it wherever you like and bugger the bloody snobs! Thanks for visiting the bucket house, oops I mean the ‘bouquet residence’. Best wishes from Sheffield.
Thank you very much for watching. Its possible in the future I may visit some of the other locations but thought I'd start with the most important. Oh I do park my Lada where I like, most people are pleased to see a rare car. Only a few snobs don't seem to like it.
A lot of people in Britain do not care about TV shows, and they will go to every effort to destroy them. The guy that owned the land that was the set of "Telletubbies" bulldozed the hill and then turned the land into a pond and put a huge fence up to keep people out. Here in USA houses are bought for hundreds of thousands of dollars over market value BECAUSE of the fact it was used in a TV show or movie.
Thank you for the viewing Henry. It was something to see where they used to film the series ❤ I have to subscribe to your channel after this wonderful video. 👍😘 PS: You can park your Lada at my house at anytime and for as long as you want to 🥰
Another American fan of the show here! she always cracked me up when she would answer the phone and speak to either Daisy, or Violet complaining about Bruce, or the Chinese takeaway customer calls, or the Bolshe Bin Man😂on her white slimline phone with last number redial. I own a DVD box set that my son gave me 20 years ago❤and even though I can watch them on Britbox, I take them out occasionally and watch them. Looking at the houses, I half expect to see Hyacinth, Richard, Elisabeth, Emmet, the milkman, and my favorite the wild eyed postman. ❤❤❤
But I LOVED the few times when Richard stood up to her like the episode where she was demanding to use the phone booth, Richard told her to GET IN THE CAR & the way she reacted! Great series!!
From Germany all our best wishes to you and thank you so much for this great video ❤. We love this great show (among others like LoTSW, Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders or Endeavour), British humor and the nostalgic dramas are simply the best…..
Mrs Bucket: " I will not have people parking inferior quality Russian cars outside my house. Richaaaaard go out and tell them to move on. I'm expecting the vicar for tea and light refreshments."
@craigsouthwell3484. And then the way Richard would reluctantly tell them always made me laugh.
i can literally hear her say "Richaaaard " in your comment😅😅

Thank you again! Yes, that was always funny whenever they visited Onslow and Daisy! :)
My dad always said "i wanna be just like Onslo when i grow up". I sure miss watchig this with him😢
Onslow* but I’m sorry
Harold Snoad who wrote this series passed on June 2nd 2024. Judy Cornwell, Patricia Routledge, David Griffin, Marion Barron, Peter Cellier are the only surviving main cast member since the series ended as of 2024.
And Jeremy Gittins, the Vicar.
Don't forget Jeremy Gittins who played the role of the vicar.
I loved that show! I still think about it.. ❤️☘️
Best show ever. Thankyou for going down memory lane
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Another American who loves the "buckets". So many laughs.
Thank you for sharing the houses of keeping Up appearances and where Onslow lived keeping Up appearances is a brilliant to watch it's all ways funny
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
I loved the show. I bought the dvds hysterical! ❤ 😊
Thank you for going to the actual exterior sites and showing them to us!! As an American fan of Keeping Up Appearances, I'm truly grateful for you going to the real locations and showing them to us!!
You're welcome, thank you for joining me! 😀
Brilliant programme. Thank you and regards from Denmark.
Born and raised in California, USA and my husband and I never miss watching an episode each night before bed!
Another American, loved that show. Thanks for the video.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for joining me. I didn't know they were all born in February, I like coincidence like that.
Thank you for joining me! It's possible I could make videos on the location of the other shows you mention.
@@HenrysAdventures ❤
Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorite shows. Thanks, Henry, for taking us on the tour. I was thinking about the house that was used as Hyacinth's house. If I was the owner of that house, I would get an interior decorator to duplicate the house on the inside to look just like the original sets. That would be so cool!
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! That would be an interesting thing to do.
One of my favorite series! I was stationed in England in the 80's and started watching it there. In Texas, my neighbor was from England- we loved watching it together and laughing about it! Thank you so much for sharing this. Onslo was one of my favorite characters.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Keeping up Appearances is one of my favorites, but I'm not sure I'd have the cheek to just show up at the actual house. I briefly met Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) before he died, a warm and friendly soul.
Very cool video!!! Was fun to see the houses. Keeping Up Appearances was a great show!!!
One of the greatest comedies ever written.
Timeless!!!
It's that Bucket woman! ;)
She was desperate to get into Emmet's production of The Boyfriend in the church hall. Richard told her it was about young people in the first flush of romance. Hyacinth replies "Young! I can do young. It's all make-up and wigs."
Loved Keeping up Appearances! “Mind the pedestrian dear”!
American viewer, always loved watching this show and felt so bad for Richard, I remember the show where Richard retired but was dreading it because he would be home with his wife Hyacinth all the time. Also liked To the Manor Born.
Virginia USA. 2024, I am sick now,but oh the smile you have given me! I love that show!
As an American that loved that show, Thank you for the video ! I miss them!
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
@@HenrysAdventures My pleasure!
Love it. I still watch reruns of the sitcom and it was awesome that you found the actual houses and shared them.
I came across this by accident and I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
I'm absolutely loved keep up appearances, thanks for sharing the areas where it was filmed. Thanks again.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! :)
Thank you for watching and the info on Onslow's hat.
I’m not sure those are government rules. Ours just stick the post wherever you ask them too. Not like that haha but whatever you say they put it there
Absolutely wonderful! We watch an episode EVERY evening...love all your commentary and recalling Highlights!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Thankyou for sharing. I'm from Australia🇦🇺& enjoy watching reruns. I remember her royal Doulton with the hand painted periwinkles.
I loved watching Keeping up Appearances here in California on Friday nights. Friday nights was Britcom night and Are you being served was also another one that was shown. Great Video, thank you!😊
You're welcome! Thank you very much for watching! :) I always enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances!
I so wish I could drive down that street and take it all in. I discovered Keeping Up Appearances not too long ago, and I can't wait to get to see all the episodes.
When I was a kid back in the 1960s, I remember so many women like Hyacinth .
I'm from the U.S. and loved 'keeping up appearances' and all the Friday night "Britcoms"..'As time goes by' was another beloved favorite. God bless !
Love from the U.S.!
We went past the Bucket House back in 2019. Being from Australia, it was a highlight to see the house.
Thank you for watching! Glad to hear you're also been there.
Thank you so, so much! Still watching this gem in 2024, love from Romania!🇧🇪
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I'm going to Romania soon and looking forward to making some videos there.
Drove a Lada Riva way back in the eighties. Was like driving a little tank. Loved that car.
One of my favorite British sitcoms. Thank you for sharing. 👍
☮️💖🌻
"It's pronounced Bouquet" 😂😂😂. Such a great sitcom with iconic characters. Me and my mom used to watch it regularly in Toronto, Canada. Glad to see from the comments that the show made its way around the globe. Impressive for a show before the internet and streaming. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🫡
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! :)
American here - This was one of my favorite shows back in the day! Cheers!
This is brilliant
Thank you for joining me!
This is so awesome. One of mine and my wife's favorite comedy series of all time! Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Nostalgic to see both houses. I was expecting Hyacinth to barge out the front door and ask you to shift your wreck...the Lada😀
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
I LOVE THIS SHOW ❤❤❤
Sunday nights were for the Brit shows on PBS here in our area, & we would get everything from "Appearances" to "Downton" to "Selfridge", "Call The Midwife", "Are You Being Served?", etc.
I love that show.
I noticed somebody admiring the Lada at the end.
Russian agent, probably...
It was his ventriloquist dummy standing there 👲🏼
I absolutely loved that show. And I absolutely love this video, too. Thank you so much for this trip down memory lane!
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Absolutely love this show
So sad the houses have been altered, I always think they should be preserved for prosperity when used in a tv series but they are private houses at the end of the day.
Yeah that’s true!
Thank you very much for watching. Its possible in the future I may visit some of the other locations but thought I'd start with the most important. Oh I do park my Lada where I like, most people are pleased to see a rare car. Only a few snobs don't seem to like it.
Can you make more videos on keeping up appearances locations?
A lot of people in Britain do not care about TV shows, and they will go to every effort to destroy them. The guy that owned the land that was the set of "Telletubbies" bulldozed the hill and then turned the land into a pond and put a huge fence up to keep people out. Here in USA houses are bought for hundreds of thousands of dollars over market value BECAUSE of the fact it was used in a TV show or movie.
If you buy the house then it's yours to do up
Thank you for the viewing Henry. It was something to see where they used to film the series ❤ I have to subscribe to your channel after this wonderful video. 👍😘 PS: You can park your Lada at my house at anytime and for as long as you want to 🥰
Brilliant video Henry - Keeping Up Appearances was a brilliant series
Thank you very much! I agree, very funny!
Thanks for the video.I loved that series. I felt sympathy for Richard and Elizabeth
But I LOVED the few times when Richard stood up to her like the episode where she was demanding to use the phone booth, Richard told her to GET IN THE CAR & the way she reacted! Great series!!
@@JohnPotts-kq7kk That was a good.one
Excellent Henry what a fabulous comedy that was. Very informative great to see the houses where they filmed and your commentary. 😊
Thank you very much! I always used to enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances! :)
Those houses will always be worth more because of the fame. They made that entire street real estate hot !
Uhm not really it's just a nice area to live on the outskirts of Coventry
Well it is to us. 😊
From Germany all our best wishes to you and thank you so much for this great video ❤. We love this great show (among others like LoTSW, Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders or Endeavour), British humor and the nostalgic dramas are simply the best…..
You're welcome and thank you very much for joining me! Great to hear you're enjoying our TV shows in Germany.
As Richard would say “It’s always been Bucket it was Bucket before I married you and after I married you”.
