SCT have suffered locomotive reliability issues over the past 12 months, I gave up on chasing them for a video months ago. Interesting to see how the 12 new Rice Burners perform reliability wise. Great video and good subtitles as per usual, well done.
So SCT are going to put its faith in Chicom locomotives. Good luck with that, they deserve all.the grief & heartache that comes from buying anything Chicom. EMD or GE all the way. USA USA USA all the way. Cheers Louis 👍
C502, C508 are already in WA being used on the BHP Acid Train I believe. When I was over there I missed seeing one leading that train near Kalgoorlie. They will be used by Watco. C503 is set to join them soon if it hasn't already (Unsure where it is now). Matt - M&S Trains
i was surprised to hear that sct bought more of those chinese things. they dont seem to have the same reliability of us based stuff. for example the g class they got rid of when they got the chinese things. and then there's the matter of the free asbestos they came with when sct required them to be asbestos free. those lovers of odd combinations and antique roadshow lineups ( me included) might be happy when the new immigrants get swabbed for asbestos and fail with positive results.
I still believe SCT's biggest mistake in history was getting rid of the G class. If they kept them they could've been the best form of locomotive for the Dooen and Adelaide Hills as bankers today. Matt - M&S Trains
@@MS_Trains ,and again i remind you of your wise words when someone commented that the chinese stuff always breaks down and you replied that they dont always break down - they break down often. bearing this in mind, i thought they planned their power so that there was never a train pulled by only chinese stuff. there must be some reason behind the purchase we dont know about. i wouldnt buy a chinese car myself, irrespective of how cheap it is.
SCT only got rid of the G’s as a result of having plenty of power at the time they sold them off in 2009. Then bang, all of a sudden the next year they get the Rankin Dam ore contract, after which they had to hire power from GWA & Greentrains prior to receiving those dodgy Pandaroos

On a clear day, at 41,000 feet, that straight section of rail is a sight to behold. ✈😀
Great video Matt, loving the drone footage
good video! i am going to miss the rare loco combos when the new CSR's are in service.
DPU’s relieve the stress on couplers and should be utilized on trains of these lengths.
I think you mean Australian Railways are behind the rest of the world.

Awesome
Does the locomotive at 9:58 use an engine from General Electric? It has a nice chugging sound
GE C30-8 made under license in Australia.
Damn I missed the c503 train sad face. :(
Better luck next time!

Why not a Australian one ? Oh we forgot to make them to and sent the drawings to China
Can you tell us where/what the C classes are headed to Western Australia for?
