Ahh the memories. I have both guided the Abrams tanks on to those flat cars, drove them on and chained them down. It is much more fun remembering than doing.
I watched them being loaded and chained down and it was much more fun watching from a distance than it looked like the guys were having doing the loading.
@eTraxx; hey old roomie, we're both old enough to have loaded M60's on cars in Germany and @ Fort Hood for NTC. That's a crap ton of work and I don't recall any of it being fun or enjoyable... memorable, yes.
You should have seen us trying to load our strykers on the poorly though out flatbeds in Kuwait with the ridiculous ramp angles lol. Did you know you can wheelie a stryker? I do.
This vital form of transportation wouldn't be possible, without the crew's who layed the tie's, layed the rail and drove in the spikes. Hats off to these people.
I just caught this vid, I retired from NS MWS, and worked this line for over 24 years, thank you for what you said, I appreciate your comment! Had a lot of fun, not many could do that work
when I was younger I used to assume that a train with tanks on it meant they're being deployed/coming home from a deployment, but when you think about it, logistics is just as important as weaponry and troops. You could have the best gear in the world, but it's useless if you can't get it where you need it, so now I think most of these tank runs are to keep our military ready and trained in efficient movement. thank you to all who serve and have served.
The abandoned bridge you were on first up in this video was a great lookin bridge. If only it could talk and tell us about all the cool adventures and memories it’s had in its life time. Thanks for the fun Jaw Tooth.
Another good video! Great spot on the old bridge. Love how the train appears around the bend out of the trees and it leaves the same way! Great shot of the Army tanks. Good salutes!
Awesome catch of the loaded military flats! More often than not, when a military train comes through here, it's just emoty DODX flats 🙁 I like that shot from the abanoned bridge, that's a good spot! Oh, and you sound like me when driving! Haha 👍

JT it reminds me of when I was in Germany back in the 80s with the Army we would rail load our Tanks and other vehicle's to go to live fire exercises ,we would chain them down, but as fast as the trains went down the tracks surprised the tanks didn't go flying into the Rhine river even with massive amounts of chains put on lol

Thank you, Jaw Tooth, for documenting these additional trains that you saw on 25 November 2024 near Mason, Erlanger, and Walton, Kentucky. The view from that abandoned road bridge near Mason, Kentucky gave us wonderful overhead views of the manifest train that came passed first and then the train wil the M-1 Abrams tanks.
