Spring Preparations - Emptying the greenhouse

- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- With spring in Alaska finally here to stay we start preparations for the greenhouse. The first step is moving all of the stuff we have stored in there somewhere else. Using offcuts from the sawmill, Cody layered a platform for everything to be temporarily moved behind the house.
Right now storage is our biggest issue, but hopefully that will get better each year as we keep chipping away at projects and infrastructure to our property.

Hey buddy. Why not put sum poles in the ground and take ur slab wood for siding. A place to put all ur stuff 😊
Ground frozen
I know you’ll be glad when mud is gone. I look forward to seeing your projects and hopefully people will stop hiding behind their keyboard and being mean so we can watch baby girl grow🌸
You need to make your videos longer. Good job guys.
Looking good. Thanks for sharing. Give the little one a hug🥰🇺🇸
Can you just stack at the far end of greenhouse and put plastic at the end for this summer til you get time to build a storage
Thanks, yeah spring. ✌🏻👊🏼
It’s a lot for sure. I liked the idea of poles and the wood slabs for siding you guys are doing great!! See ya next time!
It's so funny how your dog always gets on Cody's case when things are going well for him.
She yells at me more than the comment section does.

Lovely to hear your explanations Lori! 3 weeks out, I’m proud of you holy smokes ❤
Good to see it's warming up for you! I think you guys are too ambitious, I'd take a year off from gardening if I were you. Use that time for infrastructure like a woodshed and a shop, maybe put down some rock on your driveway. A covered deck off your house for more space. Keep the vids coming!
Love your channel, glad I found it
So fortunate that you didn't get any damage on the greenhouse. It looks very big, will you be planting in all, you could use part for storage. It's nice to hear the baby is liking her crib. Hope she starts to sleep nights for you. What will your next build be? a workshop or a storage building.Have you considered in the future a roof over your wood sawmill to protect it and yourselves from both cold and hot weather. Hope it doesn't get too muddy. Have a good week.
Great job!
Love the intro!! The font and music are great for building intrigue…. You three are doing great work, thanks for sharing with the housebound ❤
Look for a cheap container its waterproof and a brilliant place to store stuff
Thanks for sharing and taking us along. Hope baby is doing good!
Why not build another tunnel for your Greenhouse instead of worrying about moving stuff around for storage space?
I love when your husky talking, he is so cute ,great channel .
It's exciting that you're getting your greenhouse ready for plants. Tomatoe plants are over a ft high. Everything is coming along.
Looks good, are you going to build planter boxes or plant in the ground.:)
You can build a shed with all that wood thank you for the videos. I love watching. I wish you would post more often. God bless you.
Appreciate all you do pal! Do what you can and enjoy family time because it flys by quickly
It is flying by. It’s only been 3 weeks and she is already noticeably bigger and doing more.
Did. Your drone show up from under the snow yet?
Great reminder! We have not gone out to look for it yet, there is still about a foot of snow in that area.
Yippie! Time for planting! I'm excited about all this. I love to garden. But my cancer has changed my life and ability to do more of what I love.
So it's moderation for me now. - Diana
Time to build a big shed ! Greenhouse looks good I'm sure with the mill you will get what you need for the ends to be ready for planting :) lots of room in there, your snow must be pretty much gone now, when do you normally plant outside the greenhouse ?
We are not sure. This is our first spring we are planting in Alaska.
@@remotelifealaska Greenhouse here i can plant "usually" about April 15-20th but can put potatoes, onions, carrots, peas in the ground May 2nd - the 10th Then bedding plants go in the garden after May long or around 25th & the odd year we get a -2c the first couple days of June so always ready to cover them or you lose them :(
You’re gradually improving your homestead… way to go 😊
Mayb build a tool shed when it permits then u'd have a place for all ur tools? Cody is so talented I'm sure he could have one built in no time 😊 then mayb a woodshed??? Everything takes time & it'll eventually get done 😊 longer video's please thank u for sharing
What about 1/2 garden 1/2 storage for now😊
Hey Cody! I’ve seen a lot of great storage areas made by using an old metal container (souped up) painted a cool color, painted with flowers and rabbits (for Rowan to see). They can hold a lot of stuff as a temporary storage or longer term modified with your creative building skills. I don’t know if they would be available in your area, but surely there are shipping zones and/or railway yards? Love your series. ❤
👍
Container for x storage
Hey guys, thanks for the update, great to see you all doing well. Good to see that the greenhouse survived the winter pretty well! Looking forward to next winter, hopefully you'll have the tractor up and running by then which should help with snow clearance. I think a good size snow blower would really help in terms of snow management around the greenhouse etc with less potential for accidents compared to getting a plow in close. Would a shelter logic or similar be an option for storage to make things easier? Stay safe folks, have a great week!
Is anyone missing audio besides me? 😢
Can you afford another green house to act as storage and workshop for a couple of years?😊
Great video Cody and Lori
Duct tape, gold of the world 😊
I see a lot of projects in your future. What are the first ones you plan on doing this summer?
We will have lots of projects throughout the summer, but the large project goal for this summer is to construct a multi room building for firewood storage, drying lumber, housing the generator and freezer, holding the solar panels, and covering the sawmill.
Find a long pole and put it up on the trees and make a temporary shed for the stuff in the greenhouse
When you can you could get a shipping container for storage jus a suggestion
That would be nice, but I am not sure if I could get it to the property, and it’s not in the budget currently.
I truly understand
Love all your videos
You could use the cardboard as a mulch for your garden (or plantings in the greenhouse)
Looking good, good luck with planting season
Great job. That may not be as big a garden as you wished for but it is alot with the new baby, building and some fun times too. 🎉❤
Good start!
Nice tidying up! All part of progress!!
Very short video why please answer thank you
Short because we didn’t do much. Most of our time is with the baby still. It is a bit difficult to do much with all the snow melt currently we are a muddy mess.
Are you going to be having an outside garden besides the greenhouse
Not this year. We are only doing in the greenhouse this year. We will get an area prepped this fall for a larger garden outside the greenhouse for next year.
Ok thank I was just wondering that’s all
can't wait to see how your garden grows
We just found your channel based on the recommendation of one of our viewers, looking forward to watching them all. Walking in snow and talking about how hot it is.....lol.....love it. We feel the same way.
Looking good maybe a shed should be next ideal build
Great effort
Good job!!
Planted my garden a month ago, never had a snowflake, grilled out every month since Feb. when nice, trees have leafed out, all bushes been green for 2 months, been wearing shorts for 2 months here in Ga. ! Endless water supply from well. Yeah, wouldn't trade it for nothing !!! Good Luck !!
good job
🇳🇴👍👍
Can you not move the snow before riding and sliding though it? Love the videos
Great video. I was hoping to see baby Rowan. Maybe next time.
She is already getting so big!
With the comments and threats of reporting to authorities from the outhouse door video we are taking a step back and re-evaluating how we approach showing her in our videos.
We of course love to show off our baby, but we have to think about what is best for her, and putting her out there for the world to see may not be in her best interest.
Smart mama!
@@remotelifealaskaamen! Amen Amen!
I'm sad people are so evil and stupid but you need to protect your family first so I understand. Love your show
@remotelifealaska , I can't believe your viewers would threaten you. Unbelievable! You two take care and enjoy your bundle of joy! ❤
You did a great job reusing the cut off lumber 👏👏👏👏. Won’t be long you guys will be in full swing with the weather
How is the new washer working for you guys
It works great! Uses a lot of water though. About 13 gallons for a wash and rinse. The rinse water we reuse for the next wash.
