I had connection problems also at the beginning when I paired the controllers through my phone. I bought a BT dongle for my PC and just paired my play controllers with that. No more issues after that.
Thanks Ryan! BTW, just finished Part 2 of your Alpe race, absolutely awesome! Congrats how far you’ve come and you have a great ability to tell a story. Keep it up, you are a wonderful ambassador for the Zwift community!
Lolol!! Sorry about the shifting! An early breakaway would’ve made for a long race for me, but I strongly believe you could’ve done it for sure on final lap! Keep it up.
Yeah, I didn’t expect to get away on the first climb, just wanted to push and split the pack up. Unfortunately, my fitness levels and Zwift Plays had other plans 😅
You might need to use an extension USB cable and a BT dongle. Place the dongle as close to the zwiftplay's as you can. Some people mount it just under the stem. You could also try pairing all of your BT devices through your phone.
Thanks Roy! Between ANT+, Bluetooth with the ZwiftHub and my phone, it’s tough to know where everything is connecting now. I’m assuming the Zwift plays are currently connected through my phone. Perhaps the BT dongle so they are connected through my laptop is the best way forward. May try this!
I watched your race as recon, it was an awesome effort! I don’t think there’s anyway I could’ve held off a group for 2.5 laps, but figured I’d try to break it apart at least. Nice win in your race!
I tried doing this race today and after the first lap all riders disappeared from my screen. Apparently i was disconnected. This race today was cursed!
It could be your headphones interfering with the Bluetooth. I had a similar problem with my power meter. They kept clashing and interfering with the connection!! My power meter kept dropping off!
Oh interesting, I hadn’t thought of that but could definitely be the case. I’ll turn off my headphones on a free ride and see if that fixes it. Thanks!
@CaedmonCycling to resolve the problem, I purchased different headphones. The frequency was different. It seemed to resolve the drop-off issue. Good luck 👍🏾 Let us know how you get on 🙌🏾
My Zwift Plays are less than 50cm away from my external bluetooth dongle, and it still struggles to pair! But that seems to be a BLE issue, as my power pedals take forever to pair properly over BLE as well, but are instant with ANT+. BLE seems fairly unreliable (compared to regular Bluetooth). And feels like virtual shifting when you have actual gears is a solution in search of a problem, personally :p
Just an observation, and maybe it’s comfortable for you, but your handlebars look a tad too wide. Have you ridden a narrower bar? I moved to a narrower bar after a fitting and it helped relieve some pressure on my hands. Thanks for posting!
I wonder if it is a pairing issue with the shifter where it disconnects and then shuts off because of that. Have you tried to delete the device and reconnect it. I pair my Play controllers to my Zwift Hub and have been lucky I and haven't had any issues with them.
Hey Caedmon, hope you are ok. Unlike you to just disappear from the landscape for an extended period of time like that. Hope you are just enjoying the weather and outside riding :)
Dude hate to see mechanical and/or tech issue come up on race day. Hope it’s an easy fix for you as I think this is 2 races in a row now. You really looked in control until that issue and keep at it.
Well done Buddy for persevering. I had issues with mine initially. Touch wood since pairing everything via my phone only had the occasional drop out.
Yeah, I think there’s just so many Bluetooth connections in the area around my trainer. They must be interfering with each other

I was looking through some of the Zwift forums and saw your name pop up in there too. Good to know this was the fix, thank you!
Welldone on finishing. Frustrating as hell. 🙏🙌

@@CaedmonCycling Thank you sir. That means a lot!
So frustrating! You looked really strong when the shifters were working. Glad you saw it through to the end and I hope you can fix it soon.
I’ll get it figured out and I’ll be back!
Hey, coming back again for some winter races or enjoying the RUclips money? 😅
Haha 😂 I’ll be back to racing soon!

What's going on? No more races?
Hey! I’ll be back to Zwift racing soon
Frustrating glitches! Still enjoyable to watch! I’m a c cat again as of yesterday! See you soon🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey, welcome back! Look forward to seeing you out there again soon
Hope you are doing ok, maybe getting some outdoor rides in
Yes, I’ll be back to Zwift soon 👍
As DGDC would have said… I would have Rage Quit! 😳🤪 Way to hang in there 👍🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️
Planning on making a return anytime soon?
Hey yes, I’ll be back soon 👍
@@CaedmonCyclinglooking forward to seeing you back and suffering 😂

I went at the same spot as you on the first lap and they just let me go. Ended up doing 2.5 laps alone and won with a 30 seconds gap 😂

Oh no! I can certainly understand the frustration! Hopefully you get a chance to race it again

No need to apologise, Caedmon! Still a stonking effort in the face of adversity 💪 🚲
Appreciate it, thanks Simon!

Hmm, makes sense. Yeah, I think I just have too many Bluetooth connection going at once.
Do you still use the Zwift gearing system or have you gone back to the good old fashioned cogs and gears?
I still use the Zwift plays and Zwift One cog. I had some issues with the Plays connectivity originally, but think I have it sorted out.

Hey, I think you’re right. I’ve never had a fitting and just use the stock bars, but they do feel a bit wide for me

👀👀
so frustrating this is why i just use normal shifters
Yeah, no need to worry about Bluetooth signal when it’s all mechanical 👍
