I'm happy with my Zwift Hub set-up using my road bike, Zwift Click for shifting, and watching on a nearby laptop. I don't work out, don't group ride, don't communicate with other riders, and don't worry about my speed or climbing prowess. I just geezer-ride my Zone 2 level three times a week, Zwift keeps track for me, and it works great for maintaining basic fitness. Love it.
There would be no Zwift setups anymore for me. My last Zwift ride was almost 1.5 years ago. There are now much better apps for doing cycling training and especially racing. Zwift is not suitable for e-sport at all - too much cheating, very bad group ride dynamics and client based software model. Look for Training Peaks Virtual or MyWhoosh if you are looking for indoor cycling platform.
My husband and I recently set up our Zwift One (including wahoo smart trainer, bike frame & game controls) and we love it! Thank you for this video and look forward to more like it! Our goal is to stay fit during the winter months so that spring riding is not spent building fitness back. We also plan on using it on days we don't ride outside during the 'season.' We feel it is a good investment, and we look forward to learning all it has to offer. Thank you for the informative information provided in all your videos! Conor, love your Zwift password! 🤣 🚴♀🚴♂
Top tip (from experience) if you can use a bike with a through axle rather than a quick release, the difference is huge and you are much, much less likey to damage your frame.
For me, the workouts are what got me hooked... the custom workouts based on your fitness level is amazing the ERG mode makes it so easy to concentrate on your workouts and increasing your fitness on the bike. You can even custom tailor your own workouts.
As a complete cycling novice, i got my first bike today. Slapped it onto the kickr core and did my maiden rides! I got to ride 40km before my legs and heart gave up (avg HR 167bpm@constant 75 cadence).
Level 78 Zwifter here - I use a lightweight backpacking towel and roll it up, then fold it in half. It makes it much easier to wipe down your face and eye sockets.
Step 5 - Learn to ignore the hundreds of cheaters on Zwift who have impossible outputs that make it impossible to win races. Of course, this ain't any different than Peloton but those leaderboards are usually in the thousands or tens of thousands whereas the Zwift leaderboards are smaller in number so it's easier to see that outright winning is impossible because someone has tampered with their bike in order to record that they're pumping out an average 500 watts on a 30 minute ride.
As a beginner cyclist who started on zwift this year i would encourage others like me to get out there and race too if you are at all interesed. There are categories so you will be placed with other beginners around your level. Racing in zwift is very inclusive.
That's timing, I've never used Swift or any online trainer app. Just received a Swift Ride, which I've assembled but not hooked up yet. And winter just arrived, -9°C outside 😅
How is Power calculated? Does everyone get the same base absorption curve, kmh per Watts? Input 'Height' adjusts 'Frontal area' in the calculation? Body weight is used for the vertical component up a gradient. How is freewheeling speed down gradient calculated? Does it know when you are in the tuck? Does it know if you are on the hoods or drops?
If you are on your own bike you'd need a power meter. If you are on a swift trainer it comes with a power meter and cadence meter. No everyone does not get the same FTP. Its based on your ftp test and your weight. Or estimated FTP based on weight. Too the best of my knowledge it does not know different body or hand positions. I see no difference in speed power output regardless of hand or body position
I just set this up for the winter with the Kickr Pro Zwift Trainer. I use my Apple TV on a 98 inch screen. A truly immersive experience. Pro tip - Apple TV only supports two bluetooth devices, so you may have to use the iPhone and the Companion app with your Apple Watch. This video was very helpful! Thank you.
Do most ppl not use a front tire "stand" like in this video? I have one that the tire sits on to keep the bike stable but now I'm wondering if that messes with the shifting/indexing since I don't use the cog
My PC didn't have bluetooth, so I had to connect my Wahoo kickr via phone. Luckily zwift allowed you to connect to both simultaneously (took a bit of fiddling though)... then I learned you need a fan and/or towel...
*Questions Plesse :* Is that Wahoo trainer noisy ? Is the annual payment to Zwift one-and-done or is there sneaky pricing to unlock features ? Do Zwift have their own trainer, and if so is there a risk that they lock their app to only work with their trainer ? Can you stand up to rise with that Wahoo trainer ? If so, does it flex, or do you put lots of stress on the rear stays ? Thank you for anyone who replies with informed answers.
wahoo trainer is quiet but the trainer with the zwift cog will be quieter. Annual payment is annual payment. In Zwift you can unlock things through effort and these unlockable items such as bikes do make a difference but as far as I know you can't pay to play on those. Zwift has the Zwift Ride smart bike and no, it would be unheard of for Zwift to lock things to only their trainer. You can definitely stand up sprint on the wahoo or really any non roller trainer honestly. It has a full through axle so you are more than fine and I have put 1500W+ through my wahoo and did not notice any flex especially when compared to my wheels on a real ride.
I have the Core and as long as you have the chain aligned properly it's pretty darn quiet. And any noise you hear is going to be from your bike, not the trainer. If you have a noisy bike, it will be noisy no matter what you do.
I'm wondering if I have been doing it wrong for years...I am always on the big ring, but every time I see a GCN video they seem to use the small ring. Does this actually make any difference whilst using ZWIFT?
Dono.. but I took my big ring off and derailleur.. even for road riding.. done it for 5 years now. My gravel bike is single speed up front..I like the cleaner look. Mtb's are all single speed now too.. yes I get the gear range..
Will try when they add Wuhu island from Wii sports resort. Also yall should look up the speedrunning categories for this, it might be a fun challenge for the presenters to try (I can’t leave a link or website sadly)
I like the idea of exertainment but the economics never work out. While I do spend about 80-90% my training indoors..and I do train with a power meter and do workouts, I generally just watch GCN or the latest Puck P race and save the the subscription $ for new tires or wheels ...
the dinosaurs and the stupid writing on the road, and the childish video-game environment pushed me close to the edge of quitting zwift. their allegiance to the "LGBTQP" agenda sealed the deal. happily left zwift and went to Wahoo
What would be your go-to Zwift setup? 🚴🎮📺
I actually use a Tunturi exercise bike that is Zwift compatible. I don’t have space for a bike + trainer combo atm.

Bianchi Sprint, Tacx Neo 2T, MacBook Pro and Zwift controllers is my Zwift setup. My first ride with Zwift was end of 2015.

Watt bike
Perfect timing± Just got my first set up: a second-hand Wahoo Kickr Snap.
Really good cheap way to ride over winter
Congratulations, good luck with your training!
Dude me too! Now waiting on some parts since I have a disk brake bike. Stoked to start!

thanks for sharing your experience and your challenge
I'll get my kickr core next Monday. Screw riding in bad weather. I'll even improve my fitness over the next months. Thanks for the video! :)
immaculate timing on this vid
We’re always ready to help
I’m digging the new haircut. Oh, and Zwift.
How do we get the new GCN kit in game?
Seriously thinking of it!
Thanks for the video!
Hoping for a good Black Friday deal and then considering to purchase one.
Spend those drops, big man!

Oh ya jumping in as soon as my jetblack victory comes in (USA)
You should hear Pogacars opinion on riding on the trainer, it's spot on.
Yeah, I;m so close to Pogi on training needs (not)
What is his advice?
One thing it to set your challenge to Everest to work towards the Tron bike!
I’ll get one when they release the road rash version 😂
Love zwift

Bet you’ve got a microscopic penis
What do yall think abt xds rs 350 i mean its my first time gettin a bike, is that a great choice?

Can't wait to hook up my mid drive electric road bike and start racing
Would I need a SRAM XD/XDR Freehub with that setup? I have a SRAM AXS Rival.
Good intro presentation.
Thanks!
My PC didn't have bluetooth, so I had to connect my Wahoo kickr via phone. Luckily zwift allowed you to connect to both simultaneously (took a bit of fiddling though)... then I learned you need a fan and/or towel...
or you can improve your performance with heat training too!
Bluetooth USB dongles are like $15. I use the TP-Link UB500, it works great.
Missed the most important feature.... coffee stop ;-)

@@cletusownsthis isn’t quite accurate - apparently the virtual shifting on the Zwift Core only works with Zwift as it is software controlled.

My question is, how do I send a "ride on" to the person who sent me one, but I can not see their name on the right side of the screen?
Did you mention link to Strava
Up next, "Which is faster, this old superbike, or this brand new one?"
Hahaha I love your password 🙂

Not sure I'm buying that fake puffing Conor 😁
Interesting, how much Zwift paid to GCN for this and following promo videos?
I was thinking that this is pointed to those who are way too lazy to watch older GCN content for the Zwift.
ZCN at this point

Lost interest , too many features I don't need , I'd spend more time fannying around wading through the features Spending my money of winter kit .

Well if you didn't quit then I'm sure you would have during Black History Month or something like that.
