      You don't have a roof top tent installed, correct? I have my awning attached to the AX27 tent and the tent is mounted on the roof rack.
      BUT: There comes a bunch of mounting plates with the awning, so you should be able to attach it to the roof rack directly. Let me check when I am back home in 2 days.

    Living the dream! Im looking at that tent for my IG, which is still in production. Mine will come with safari windows as well.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Год назад +1

      Hello! With the AX27 (which is 2,25ml long) there is a little overhang required. it is roughly 20cm but it looks ok because of the spare wheel on the back. that gives you little over 2m roof length behind the windows.
      If you don't mind that you can't remove them with the tent installed, you could go further forward. but i wanted to keep all my options.

    Question:
    Do you need the roof rack? Most of the roof is being consumed by the tent. Awning is connected to the tent.
    You could potentially save significant weight and cost by doing away with the rack.
    The AX27 has heaps of mounting points for accessories.
    Interested in your thoughts. Thanks.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Год назад +1

      you are absolutely right. some load carriers would be sufficient for the ax27 and you could pack things on the roof - thus saving ~40kg and money!!
      But I wanna remove the tent when I don't need it and still be able to transport stuff (like skis, canoes, wood, bikes etc) or just have a platform to have a drink on in a nice spot 🤷🏼‍♂️. so i use it for the lightbar as well, recovery boards and so on....
      there would be a lighter and cheaper solution but maybe not as flexible (for me).
