Dear Ingemar! Thank You so very much for all the great content! I just ordered “Your” roof rack and awning due to this video! Please keep posting! All the best!
Dear Ingemar! It’s not Easy to order the Awning and what extra parts i need in order to attach it to the Roof-Rack. Do You know if I need to order special parts to secure the awning or is it included? Thanks in advance!
You don't have a roof top tent installed, correct? I have my awning attached to the AX27 tent and the tent is mounted on the roof rack. BUT: There comes a bunch of mounting plates with the awning, so you should be able to attach it to the roof rack directly. Let me check when I am back home in 2 days.
No roof -tent, correct! Tried to contact Roman several yesterday and today but I guess he will contact me as well. Have a wonderdful trip!@@grenadier_exploring

Don’t want to give you work to do but it would be awesome if you could put a list together of all of the mods and accessories you are using. Maybe you have done this but it would be great to see how Loki evolves!

I found your write up and it was very helpful. A full walk around with your “why I purchased this” explanation would be great. But really very helpful videos. Hope you are having fun with your Loki. My IG arrives in June in US.

Living the dream! Im looking at that tent for my IG, which is still in production. Mine will come with safari windows as well. Looks like it must hang off the back about 20cm would you say?
Hello! With the AX27 (which is 2,25ml long) there is a little overhang required. it is roughly 20cm but it looks ok because of the spare wheel on the back. that gives you little over 2m roof length behind the windows. If you don't mind that you can't remove them with the tent installed, you could go further forward. but i wanted to keep all my options.
Dear Sir, love your review and wish you lots of nice travels. I have 1 question: is most of the gear interchangebale between utes? Or you need to buy new tent/awning if you change cars?
i can definitely re-use my equipment with a new car. of course i might need another roofrack (at least new brackets). the rest should work fine with any car 👍🏻🤞🏻
Hi Ingemar, have you ever unscrewed one of the switches in the dashboard to see if they could be moved around - potentially switching some from the roof to the front and vice-versa!
not sure about the original bar but the Auxbeam has 55.000Lumen, 52" wide and costs 489$ (now reduced at 290$). very easy to install. comes with two different brackets and the wiring/switch (deutsch DTP connector and relay and battery connectors). I hooked it up to the EXT2 power socket. will do another video in their performance soon.... the fog lights have 16.666Lumen and cost 280$....
Thanks Ingemar for the interesting update. QUESTION: did you consider installing the Bush Company 270 XT Max awning, with 12sqm covergae rather than the 270 XT with 8 sqm?. I spoke to head of Bush Company here in Australia and he said the XT max is becoming more popular.
I got got the 270XT because I thought it is sufficient for my needs and slightly faster to setup. but i do understand why people want the bigger one. I am happy so far with my choice. but i guess in Australia shade is even a bigger issue than here in Austria ;-)
Hi Ingemar, thank you for your good videos. They are very helpful for me. You have mounted the HGM rack so that it is flush with the rear of the vehicle. The roof tent protrudes from the rear by how many cm? Is the AX27 otherwise mounted in the middle? Wolfgang
thanks a lot - glad the videos help a bit. the tent overhangs roughly 25cm. it's significantly less than the spare wheel. and it is mounted exactly in the middle!
Love the updates and videos, glad you are getting so much use out of Loki! Love the red Ineos logo on the back door too, looks really cool. How well does tat rain fly hold up in wind? Do you need to tie it down as well as use the poles? It looks like a good gust of wind would knock those poles out pretty quickly w/o some added help, but maybe that's just me not seeing it right.
thx a lot. there are tie downs included which i would add in windy conditions (but they are quite stable once hooked in - might look different in the video)!! u are absolutely right. i am trying to produce those red “A”s with a local company…let’s see if that works 😝
hopefully you will not have any mechanical problems, but I guess it would be good to have a list of mechanics that work on BMW's where you might be traveling. might be hard to find Grenadier shop?
I think BMW is quite present everywhere you have a city, in a middle of nowwhere, land, toyota, jeep or mercedes its same, you need tools and knowledge, or money to have somebody coming. I never saw an overlander looking for land rover or toyota shop, maybe am wrong.
Ineos has a contract with Bosch Service Stations. But I guess I will be fine...it´s "only" 8000km. So far I have 16000km on the clock without any issue...fingers crossed
Question: Do you need the roof rack? Most of the roof is being consumed by the tent. Awning is connected to the tent. You could potentially save significant weight and cost by doing away with the rack. The AX27 has heaps of mounting points for accessories. Interested in your thoughts. Thanks.
you are absolutely right. some load carriers would be sufficient for the ax27 and you could pack things on the roof - thus saving ~40kg and money!! But I wanna remove the tent when I don't need it and still be able to transport stuff (like skis, canoes, wood, bikes etc) or just have a platform to have a drink on in a nice spot 🤷🏼♂️. so i use it for the lightbar as well, recovery boards and so on.... there would be a lighter and cheaper solution but maybe not as flexible (for me).
@@grenadier_exploring mate, thanks for the response. Is your awning connected to the tent of rack? How practical is taking the AX27 off frequently? At 90Kgs (+awning) that is a fair weight to be moving around. Love your vids.
@@nnoddy8161 it's connected to the tent (with the included brackets). until now we used a fork lift to remove the tent which is not a very quick solution. I’ve been watching your channel for some time. The only problem in the eu is the DMC of the vehicle so it leaves very little weight to play with in terms of equipment😢 you just proved that with the weights you gave. 340 kg for passengers, food, extra petrol/water, camping gear, etc is really sad.
you are right. but i assume my setup is on the heavier side (plus the heaviest version of the grenadier with the winch and diesel). worst case i could change my maximum weight with the registration office in austria but with only 2 adults, i have sufficient payload for my needs.
@@grenadier_exploring I only consider a diesel 😉 That’s the best in the automotive industry. I drive a 740d and prefer it over my previous 5.0i 😉 Still, the Grenadier should be some 4-500 kg lighter 🫤 nevertheless, I have a test drive planned
