- A visual journey of five guys embarking on a three month voyage aboard a 42ft sailboat, The Wingway. On April 1st we set out from southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia with hope of skiing in Glacier Bay, Alaska. This film captures the first 54 days of the trip.
We travelled north through the inside passage up the coast of B.C. before reaching Alaskan waters on day 13. We spent 7 days exploring Glacier Bay, skiing under bluebird conditions on classic spring corn snow. We bailed on our hopes of skiing up high due to a concerning snow-pack caused by a record-setting heat wave. We turned our focus to exploring more of southeast Alaska, hitting the open waters and sailing around the west side of Chichagof and Baranof Island before heading up Tracy Arm and Fjords Terror. On day 58 we reached our last Alaskan town, Ketchikan, before starting the journey back home to Vancouver Island. On the way back we spent more time exploring the inside passage and decided to sail down the west side of Vancouver Island. It took us 23 more days before we returned home on June 20th.
I'd like to thank Reid Kelly for the opportunity to join this trip of a lifetime, and the rest of the crew for making the experience so memorable!
This is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Epic trip guys! We embarked on a similar journey a few months ago and recognize most of the places you captured. Didn't make it to Glacier Bay in time for snow, maybe next year. Catch you out there, cheers!
Donny used the same moves from 2:23 on the dance floor at Buffalo Bill’s
