It's one of the biggest hits of all time in Argentina (# 1 for 14 consecutive weeks) and widely popular there 'till today. Cheers from Germany.
this is another one of those songs that when it comes on at work, either on the work playlist or my own music between 5am and 7am, i have to dance. Like I literally cannot help myself. It's my fave E.L.O song.

That's what I was trying to think of...."Boogie Nights"! Recognized the bass line and groove! Thanks, Ken! I, too, had never heard this song, and was just transitioning from radio to the record biz in '79/'80 when this came out. But, it peaked at only #39 in early '80 here in the states, so it may not have been a hit in many cities/regions. I guess everyone had to put out at least one pandering disco nod!!! ;- )
What's really hilarious is there's a little bit of the "Mary Tyler Moore Show" theme in the middle. Looks like they ripped off from at least two sources. :)
This is my favorite ELO track, the disco beat is great, but it is the strings, together with the heartwarming lyrics ("But I really want to make this last forever, I really want to be with you") that gets to me most. I burst out laughing at the "Are you kidding me?" expression on your face! I haven't listened to that song in years, but it's like I last heard it yesterday...what a great song.
As a young kid in the 70s in London this song is so atmospheric; because of what it evokes (for me at least) hot summer nights, London suburbs, Brick buildings, weeds, grassy school playing fields outside 50s school buildings, heat, office workers going home in shirts, ice creams, wearing t-shirt, (short) shorts and sneakers/flip-flops
Man, so many ELO reactions on your channel but I thought I was never going to find one of my favourites. These guys are amazing! I remember buying one of their records as a kid going totally blind.......I was into rock and metal and was like "wtf is this?!".....but after a while started to really appreciate them. This and the Wimp song are some of the ones that turned me :)
This was NOT played on American radio, at least not in the NYC area. I'm guilty of having never bought an ELO album and only know their most popular songs. Keep up the great work!
Prologue/Twilight from their Time album is a highly underrated song and album that I would very much appreciate you for checking out and Hold On Tight is another great song from the album as well, but most of all thanks for checking out all these other great ELO songs my man
One of my favorite songs of ELO, it's just so jamming. I love your reactions and your love for music in general. ELO has always been my favorite band. Be sure to check out the album Time, which is my all-time favorite and my first album (on tape) I ever bought.
I finally realised you're my favourite reactor. You not only listen carefully to the music, you look at the words, you have great facial expressions, and you obviously read the comments and take in the knowledge that people give you. Sorry it's taken me so long to realise this. So glad to see Elo here - sorry, ELO - and as a friend of mine once said, 'Jeff Lynne is a blinking genius.' Only he didn't say blinking. Last Train to London is my favourite ELO song and is one of my top ten records of all time. It takes me back to my university days, travelling round the UK on a student rail pass, and that last minute rush to catch the last train to or from wherever we were going. And it reminds me too of a relationship that is sadly no longer here. Surprising really that despite loving ELO for many many many years, I'd never seen them live. This autumn, I was going to put this right. I paid more than I've ever paid for a concert ticket, and was booked to see them at the O2 Arena in London. And then you-know-what happened, and ELO have cancelled - not postponed, cancelled - their tour. A small thing, maybe against everything else, but it's a great disappointment to me and no doubt hundreds of thousands of other people. While we're on a bit of a 70s prog-rock theme, I wonder how you'd feel about some Alan Parsons Project? Great tunes, great singing, great instrumentation. A lot of their albums are concept albums but I think I can pull out ten fantastic stand-alone songs: 1) Eye In The Sky 2) Silence and I 3) Old and Wise 4)Prime Time 5) Don't Answer Me 6) Let's Talk About Me 7) Days Are Numbers (The Traveller) 8) Theb Same Old Sun 9) Standing On Higher Ground and 10) As Lights Fall (from their 2019 album). Just a thought. I think you might like them but who can tell? Best wishes for you and your channel. I now have to decide if I really want to know how you injured your groin . . .
Lawd I am so glad I found you... to find a reactor that actually vibes... such a moood!! I have spent hours listening to you and reliving some fabulous memories....even my daughters love watching you!! It's all about the music baby!!

“Confusion” and “Livin’ Thing” are good hits by E.L.O. In don’t think you’ve done yet. 😁
Bringing so many memories back, playing these old classics Jamel. Great tunes, glad you appreciate them
I love this song boy this brings back memories when I was in England 🏴 thanks Jamel for this Gem 💎 thanks
"But I really want tonight to last forever" The music sounds like the theme to Laverne and Shirley.
Dios67 I was hearing Mary Tyler Moore- I expected the next line to be “You’re going to make it after all.”
@@amyk9175 Probably so, lol. I wonder who the composers for both are/were?
This is the way we listened to albums back in the day, some albums even came with lyrics on the sleeve...yep...the memories...Rock On
Showdown is my favorite ELO song! Please review it! Please:)
I can never listen to Showdown without thinking of Big Ernie McCracken even though I knew the song well before the movie.
This was NOT played on American radio, at least not in the NYC area. I'm guilty of having never bought an ELO album and only know their most popular songs. Keep up the great work!
Yesss! You got here ! Keep on with ELO 👍
Amazing jam for roller skating 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Seeing ELO perform this song live was one of the best moments of my life
Love playing the bass lines to this song on my bass guitar.. its so funky and groovy!!
Prologue/Twilight from their Time album is a highly underrated song and album that I would very much appreciate you for checking out and Hold On Tight is another great song from the album as well, but most of all thanks for checking out all these other great ELO songs my man
Yeap, TIME is a great album! I would add "The way life's meant to be".
Time is my favourite album of all time. (Pun intended)
It still sounds so futuristic. :D
Yep TIME is a masterpiece!
Pleeez do prologue/TWILIGHT!!

Don't worry I danced away to their amazing songs, just brilliant!!!!!
Haha Love your reaction!! Disco fever!!
One of my favorite songs of ELO, it's just so jamming. I love your reactions and your love for music in general. ELO has always been my favorite band. Be sure to check out the album Time, which is my all-time favorite and my first album (on tape) I ever bought.
From 1979. Discovery was another great album.

GiannisForPresident
How can anyone NOT ❓
📻🙂
Starlight by ELO is one of my absolute favourites!! It's so peaceful!!
This awesome song has 73 million views on RUclips even if it was recorded in 1979. Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO. Please Tour in 2022!
I now have to decide if I really want to know how you injured your groin . . .
Last train to London, wooo hooooo the 70s were a blast!!!!
This bass gives me chills ! Awesome 🤩
ELO's "The lights go down" is a smooth fun groove with a hint of reggae. When you have TIME...pun intended. enjoy :)
Lawd I am so glad I found you... to find a reactor that actually vibes... such a moood!! I have spent hours listening to you and reliving some fabulous memories....even my daughters love watching you!! It's all about the music baby!!
Look at Jamal! All into the finest. ELO WITH HEADPHONES! My favorite: Wild West Hero. Makes me cry every time. Would like to see your feel for it.
One of their Best! Did yo see the live version? ruclips.net/video/5XnoQXiiovc/видео.html enjoy!
Andrew Frick fantastic. So easy to forget that Jeff is pushing 70 years old in this performance. He is truly one of the greats.
@@andrewfrick5312 YES.
@@andrewfrick5312 I hadn't seen that one before. Beautiful! Thank you.
@@Gail430 :)
I love it when you play a song and it really brings back so many memories Jamel.
JAMEL DO YOU REALIZE JEEF LYNNE'S ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (ELO) IS THE MOST VERSATILE BAND IN POP-ROCK MUSIC HISTORY, THEY CAN DO IT ALL FROM PROGRESSIVE ROCK TO WHATEVER YOU WANT...
I’ve got about 20 plus years on you sir. The smile you put on my face is priceless. Thank you so very much.
Well alrighty then. This is going to get stuck in my head. The grand kids will think I'm crazy dancing thru the house. :)
Grew up on and love disco (I love all kinds of music but disco just makes you happy listening to it, and disco united all people regardless of color and orientation) and this is a big favorite by ELO.
