Regarding the fact that the population of heaven is in many ways not similar to humans. Sinners in hell get their appearance depending on how they lived their lives and the circumstances of their death. For example, Alastor has the features of a deer because he was killed in the forest, confused with a deer, when he was hiding the body of his victim. Perhaps there is a similar system in heaven? For example, maybe appearance also depends on behavior during life, attachments and circumstances of death?
Not to mention that 3 of the 4 Gospel writers are depicted with animal heads in Catholic teachings
I think you're probably right here, nice one! If it is true, I wonder what causes them to just be regular human appearance? Does that mean they were just boring? hahaha
@@malkariss Well, in Heaven everybody has at least wings and a halo, so maybe that's the winners' equivalent of basic demonic features of sinners? Not a perfect match, but then again, Heaven is more orderly, so maybe "boring" people get just the standard issue angel wings, whereas in chaotic Hell they receive a wide variety of changes. Oh well, just spitballing here... 😄
@@malkariss In the song Welcome to Heaven you see a girl with very similar coloring to Angel Dust who has 4 legs and 2 arms. According to Vivzie that's Molly, Angel Dust's twin and the only member of their family to make it to heaven that we know of. She has a similar spider body to Angel Dust because they were both born and raised in their family's "web of crime" so who you were on earth, how you lived, the culture were raised in, and how you died all have some affect on what you look like.
@@malkariss There's two possibilities I can think of:
1. Angels have human disguises the same way Sera and Emily do, and the same way some demons do. Some prefer to stay in their disguises while others not.
2. Maybe in contrast to sinners appearing in a way that symbollizes their death and whatever their greatest sin was, angels appear in a way that symbollizes their life and their greatest accomplishment before death. Some of them look plain because they did nothing special - they just failed to do even one thing that was required to consider them sinners. Others take on different forms showcasing their virtues in a symbollic manner. Then Adam would always want to be wearing a mask so that he can pretend that he did something great and interesting, instead of the boring waste of life he probably was given what we know of his personality. It also explains Saint Peter's appearance, since he was iirc just a regular fisherman peasant doing regular things.

6:35 Heaven and Hell are realms of pure spirit, any "flesh" is merely clothing or an outward appearance of the soul. So "everyone is hot" doesn't mean physically/sexually, it means spiritual beauty, but as visual creatures we interpret this as physical beauty. Kinda like The Matrix the code is shown as reality, etc.
Im almost sure the exorcists and Adam are using a LED mask actually Adam just never takes off his for some reason
Also one interesting detail is that Sera appears in the opening story about Lucifer. She was in fact one of the seraphim that casted Lucifer down according to the images we are shown on the first episode

The angels don't know what gets a soul into heaven, so nothing Charlie showed could prove that she could get souls in Hell to fulfill this mystery requirement. The court case was rigged, not because Sera predetermined the outcome, but because Charlie was tasked to prove something that couldn't be proven short of a soul from Hell magically being raised to Heaven by whatever it is that judges souls to begin with.
She was fighting a war with no clear way to win. She had to prove it, but couldn't prove it because the interference from the exterminations. I don't want to spoil on this video comments, but I wonder if the info we learn in the finale will be shared appropriately or not? For some reason I'm skeptical about that.
The parallels between Sera, Lucifer, and Carmilla are so interesting to me. They all dislike the exterminations, they all had a chance to stop or at least attempt to stop them, and yet they all chose to do nothing and allow all those sinners to be killed, for the same reason. They believed it would keep their own daughters/daughter figures safe
This show is so much deeper and intricate than so many people give it credit for! You're absolutely right :)
But does Sera actually hate the exterminations? Or does she simply pretend to in the way overly righteous people are like....look, I don't necessarily LIKE killing the masses, but lets do a crusade anyway because they don't worship our god and are thus heretics. 😅

Every time we've seen her express an opinion about it it's been "I only did this because I believed it to be necessary for our safety," even when she's alone with Adam and Lute, who would love for her to fully support them
I think we're being shown basically 3 attitudes in heaven. Pro-extermination like Adam and Lute, anti-extermination like Emily, and mixed emotions like Sera, and season 2 will probably involve the two opposite sides trying to win Sera and those who think like her over

lucifer was cast out of heaven by the elders of heaven and there appear to be 6 of them with very distinct silhouettes (you can see them in ep.5 when lucifer starts his second song)
I hope they explain the hierarchy a bit more at some point, nice catch!
@@malkarissI will give the list of hierarchy since it is not ever explained. 99% of this is coming from a podcast with vivvie the creator of the show. The only non definitive one is personally think there are a few sub seraphim ranks GOD,The elders ( no names yet), High seraphim (oldest seraphim) sera currently former in my opinion Lucifer explained in my next comment,exterminators,winners, and heaven born
@@malkarissand the reason I think Lucifer was a high seraphim is sera mentions that she doesn’t want Emily to end up like Lucifer obviously Emily wouldn’t act like that if she had saw the elders first hand with Lucifer so it goes to reason that the only one that is in contact with the elders is the high seraphim and we know that before Lucifer was sent to hell that in ep 1 he was always seen as a ugly duckling by the elders which means that he had contact with them and therefore was a high seraphim
Would explain why Lucifer has that sort of Ringmaster or a circus theme. If he was the previous Seraph of Entertainment, meant to keep people happy...and now Emily stands in his place as his replacement.... @@dieselhall4505
Lucifer was cast out of heaven by the elders of heaven which are implied to be sera and other seraphim’s we haven’t seen yet and they tried to kill him while doing it which is why there was spears above him in “more than anything” but they couldn’t kill Lucifer it was physically impossible because according to the creator of the show via her patreon where she reveals a small lore tip that’s non spoilery and contributes more to world building she stated that Lucifer and Charlie cannot be killed by any of the angels accept ones that rank above the seraphim’s which there are very very few to begin with and I found it interesting when she said that she didn’t use to word kill she used the word “smitted”
Dang. Does that mean only those higher than the seraphim are allowed or would be allowed to kill Lucifer and Charlie, should it come to that, or does it imply that they’re the only ones strong enough to?
Regardless, Adam really had no chance against Charlie in terms of power. She’s stronger than he is but i think she just lacks the combat experience and the know how of how to properly use her powers.
There were hints along the way pointing towards Vaggie’e background. For one, her being an exorcist angel explains her military esc way of doing things. She also is seen manifesting an angelic spear at several points throughout the series. Then there’s the fact she has an x over her eye, and all the exorcists have an x over their eye (on the masks at least). Before this episode came out I was theorizing she was a fallen angel for of those reasons.
tho the fact that the masks have a mising eye like her seems to be a pure coincidence

Omg it's actually really fun to watch a reactor for this show that knows the Bible - I'm not religious but I was raised in a very religious household and I think the stuff they're doing with the lore is really fun! I've seen a lot of Christians either condemn this show outright or just be very uncomfortable with the content, but it's clear this was made with a lot of biblical knowledge in mind and the attention to detail is crazy good. I also think the premise is something religious people should be behind if they have it a chance. It's all about redemption after all! And I think the commentary on certain religious figures is good too - like self reflection on people in real life that act like Adam, or even Sera. I think that self critique is healthy.
As for souls in heaven idk if the creators have commented on it but I assume that they can choose to change aspects of their appearances somewhat. Like I just assumed that Saint Peter looks like a regular human because he chose to, and to appear as welcoming and comforting as possible to arriving souls. I figured he has a "true" form like many other characters we've seen. 🤷
I'd sat they kinda hinted at vaggie being an angel in the very first episode aswell, durring the "happy day in hell" song she sings the line "those angels minds are hard to change"... so how would she even know that if she was a normal sinner, and I doubt Charlie knows anything about the angel other than her father really so I don't really know but I feel like that line was a hint

i just wanted to say i love when you pause and discuss the content! im not here to watch the show itself, im here to watch your reaction so i love hearing your thoughts and your analysis on everything! please continue and never feel like youre pausing too much!!!
in a way, I almost feel bad for Sera. sure every reactor I've seen has judged her rather harshly but I don't think any of us would do any better in her situation because none of us have held a high position of power and watched as a realm full of demons, redeemed or not, were gaining strength enough to threaten Heaven. so from what I can tell, Sera had only three options: do nothing, attempt to negotiate and hope it works or allow a yearly culling to keep the demons down to prevent them from becoming a threat ever again. the first option would've been the dumbest and option two wasn't guaranteed success since I don't remember if the demons of that time were being redeemed or were the violent, bloodthirsty, or cruel types of demons we usually see that aren't part of the hotel crew. she would've had no idea what they'd demand in return or if she would even be able to placate them with any negotiations without harming Heaven one way or another. and I think one reason why Sera ruled against Charlie in court is because admitting that Charlie was right would be admitting to all of the wrong she's enabled due to her fear. guilt like that is bound to tear a person apart viciously and might cause the idea of admitting the truth would be too painful for them to handle. sorry if this long comment was nonsensical at any point. It was rather late when I posted it.

I do feel bad for Sera. But even if I acknowledge I probably wouldn't have done better I still believe it's not a justification.
And I think it's that she outright refuses to believe that there is any other option that makes her go from questionable to outright wrong. When presented with a new possibility she rejects it, doubles down that slaughter is the only way. That's where I think my perspective of her character slipped from "I can get that, it's hard" to "yikes, you might've slipped a little far into the darkness there"
ironically no demon (besides lucifer and maybe the sins) possessed the means to harm an angel before the exterminations started and the angels got sloppy about leaving their weapons behind
Fun fact: there is the theory that Emily and Charlie are actually halfsisters
They're technically cousins. Lucifer and the Seraphim are siblings. Charlie and Emily are both daughters of Seraphim (or former Seraphim in Charlie's case).
@@RoxasOnSummerVacation Actually it doesn't work like that. First of all, theories aside, Sera and Emily are sisters, so at most Emily should be Charlie's aunt, not cousin. But actually, they have no blood relation. Being "created by God" doesn't mean being blood related. Some angels are created as brothers or sisters, like Lucifer and Michael, but they have no connection with all the others. Some of them are even create as husband and wife. So even if we imagine that Sera is Emily's mother, she still wouldn't have any blood relation with Charlie because Sera and Lucifer aren't created as siblings by God

Also Emily and Sera never said they were sisters and wikis are notorious for having incorrect information. Specifically about character relations in fictional media.
None of the exorcist angels are actually missing eyes. The black, horned, and damaged eye figures we see are angels wearing an LED War Mask that looks that way.
Really love your thoughtful and genuine reactions. Yours have been my favorite reactions of out dozens I have watched on RUclips.
Watching your excellent commentary, it occurred to me that it seems the more powerful a being is, the more mutable its form. Right at the start, the seraphim briefly have somewhat more inhuman forms, and they also manifest more eyes when they are agitated. Then there are Charlie's transformations, and in episode 5 we saw Alastor changing his shape significantly. Also Lucifer manifests his wings only when needed. And in the following episodes we see some more examples.
I didn't see anyone mention it, so I will: Angel Dust's sister, Molly, is in heaven. You can see her during the song, welcome to heaven. She probably stands out the most (imo) with her color scheme of white, pink, red and black when you've got everyone else in softer colors

To be fair to Vaggie, I also think it's the right decision not to tell Charlie before the trial. 1) telling her because she's being blackmail wouldn't change anything about the lie anyway, she didn't tell her of her own volition and 2) Charlie would have a harder time focusing on the trial which is much more important than the lie.
I love how Emily is just the Heaven equivalent of Charlie. I also think that the reveal of Vaggie being an angel would have been more surprising to the audience if they left out the room scene with Adam and then explained the backstory in the next episode. Anyways, great video. Loving the back to back uploads. Thanks for this.

I interpreted all the formerly human demons and angels that don't look human as either having features that they hate (sinners) or features that they love (angels). So all the wonky looking angels are just living their best lives as wolf goat cyclops people

I have to explain this for you. Lucifer has 6 wings because wings show power and in most myhtos Lucifer or the Morning star was Gods mosty favorite of all the angels and the most powerful. hence the 6 wings.
Heaven is the reward for a virtuest life…no one ever told you what that means till now. You are above reproach and may do as you wish with no consequences. That is the big secret
I'm not sure if it was in the pilot, or in one of the early episodes, but it was told in a story that Lucifer got cast out of heaven by the elders in heaven (who i think are above the seraphim) And i also think Lucifer was the 3rd seraphim besides Emily And Sera. Thats why Lucifer also has 6 wings.
Also another interesting thing is, that in this episode you can actually see Angel Dust's sister in the Welcome to Heaven song

There's a reason in The Bible why almost always the first thing the angels say to humans is "be not afraid".
I can be corrected if I'm wrong but biblically accurate angels are horrific looking monsters to scare away evil.
I'm pretty sure the point is that if you're good and righteous, then you have absolutely nothing to fear from them.
I think the ones in heaven that look like beast/animals are just animals that made it in heaven y’know… cause all dogs go to heaven?
Sera court decide not wrong just Angel do good thing is not enough evidence it clear that Heaven Angel have no say in who get to Heaven there only job is to take care soul that get in so as long as no soul can get from Hell to Heaven it will never be enough evidence even Emily no oppose her in that

To answer the question about Abel, remember that the Christian idea of Heaven/Hell did not exist when the Torah/Old Testament was written. Judaism does not believe in Hell, it was created by Christians. So, if we are following the Christian interpretation (as the show is likely based on), Heaven was not available to ANY humans until after the death of Jesus, since all of humanity was still tainted by the original sin until that point. Therefore, Adam still could technically be the “first” human soul to go to Heaven, if we assume that all the humans who died before Jesus would arrive in Heaven in order of their birth/creation.
bro, make up your mind :D some consistency in your actions - either you pause when you start sharing your thought, with the whole thing, or you don't pause at all :D because when a song comes on, you talk without pausing, and when they do something, they talk, they pause every now and then , haha, but you're good at catching many details - so it's good to watch - the only downside is that you drown out the song with talking, and you pause the remaining issues and come back several times to think about the double meaning
Showing mercy to a demon who has done wrong in his mortal life is not a good thing. Also, just look what happened to Lucifer for "being too creative." On the other hand, angels are not like Emily in the Bible, they are quite violent, even more than Adam. You just have to see the apocalypse. People in modern times believe that angels are pure goodness, when they can be very destructive.
Most people believe angels are asses, everyone does bad things and Lucifer did the best he could have done

ai! I know youve watched all episodes already but for your knowledge, its not because vaggie showed mercy, but she tried harming a hellborn. They made a promise to only kill sinnners because hell born didnt do anything, they didnt ask to be born IN HELL. and you might of seen adams mask glitch, he made a promise to got not to harm hellborn, butbhe harmed razzle, dazzle, and charlie.
Um….what??? It’s absolutely because she showed mercy….. that’s why they showed her hesitating and letting the kid go. Lute and Adam punished her for showing mercy to a sinner.
