2 - if you look at the new hotel you can see that Charlie put a apple booth for Lucifer and a radio booth on opposite sides of the hotel so now it's possible that Lucifer will be sticking around
3- Dazzle is the one who died. Charlie was riding razzle
One cool detail I saw is that for some reason Sir Pentious ended up inside the seraphim corner of heaven and not at the heavenly gates to be let in by Saint Peter?
Maybe because he was a sinner, I mean, he has to adapt to a new world and the seraphim have to do with his safety and that of all of heaven.
It was pure sarcasm from whatever force decides who goes where. It's like the universe was saying "LOOK SEE ITS POSSIBLE NOW SING SIR RE-PENTIOUS YOUR DUMB SONG"

2- LUCIFER put an apple booth and radio booth on opposite sides of the hotel, lucifer wants to keep his daughter happy but also keep Alastor in check (he doesn't care about Alastor's power in ANY way shape or form, he just wants to protect his daughter.
Yeah, the hotel has a wing for each character now so Lucifer is staying.
Sir Pentious got promoted not just sent to heaven and that's cool because it means he's at their same level now. Plus it also means somebody higher than them is watching and saw everything and maybe it was all planned.
Adam has a soul so probably he's gonna reincarnate too (like the other human souls who died in the past Exterminations) only creatures born in Hell/Heaven will die without coming back to life.

When Alastor retreats, you can see his shadow actually comes out and grabs him helping him get away. His shadow seems to have it's own life and intelligence.

People thought Alastor's last name was Altruist because Amazon made the subtitles read "Great Alastor Altruist died for his friends." Vivienne Medrano (Exec. Producer and creator of Hazbin Hotel) clarified the captions SHOULD have read "Great Alastor, altruist, died for his friends." using altruist as a descriptor of his character, and also NOT capitalized.
Also, THANK YOU. You're the first person reacting to the finale I've seen pick up on Dazzle's statue in front of the rebuilt hotel.
Exactly it was him stating an Epithet, as if reading off of his tombstone. You might see something like "Greg, Charitable, Loving Father and Husband" in real life.

I love how Pentious is just DROPPED in front of Sera and Em'. It feels like such a "Hey Sera, THIS WORKS, now quit DENYING IT" from whatever force it is that delivers judgement. It's a reality check for them, one they CAN'T deny anymore

I noticed his hood is segmented into six parts...almost like six wings around his head. And he appeared in the hall of the seraphim. I swear it, Sir Pentious didn't just get redeemed. He got promoted to Seraphim.
Vox sent out camera drones. That’s how they can see them. You see one on the far left of the first shot after you go to Charlie saying she wishes her mom was there
There is a theory going around out there that makes a lot of sense. People are saying Lucifer has a contract with Heaven about the extermination, where sinners can be killed but Hellborn (those born in hell) which are innocent, and the Royal Family (specifically Charlie) can't be touched. Im pretty sure, but not totally sure, that Dazzle is Hellborn and there for is innocent but he was slaughtered and Charlie was also hurt by Adam. If you look at the mask Lute wears, it glitches after killing Dazzle and Adam's mask glitches after hurting Charlie. People are speculating that THIS is a signal that the deal they had has been broken.
To me it makes a lot of sense.... but it is still just speculation. THIS is also the reason that Lucifer doesn't step in and just wipe the Angels out when they come down to exterminate the populace but he now steps in when his daughter is hurt.
I read Sera's expression one of two ways; "Omg, why is he here?" or "Omg, what have I done?"

I definitely think it's along the lines of "Oh god I've been sanctioning the extermination of countless souls for no reason since they actually CAN be redeemed." I think next season is going to be her feeling super guilty and having to come to terms with what she's done.
29:35 -- It's just a subtitle error, the line should be: " 'Great Alastor, altruist, died for his friends' sorry to disappoint, that is not where this ends."
He's mocking what people would have said about him if Adam had killed him there.
Now see, the line is "that is not WHERE this ends", which implies it DID happen, in a sense. "Alastor the altruist" is gone, he's done with this, he came so close to death (for the first time since arriving in Hell) that he wants out of his deal (which presumably includes his involvement with Charlie) ASAP.

Moreso when he says that could have been bad. He identified Pentious as a threat and Allister as an anoyance. Perhaps because Allister had no angelic weapons and the death ray was powered by angelic power somehow like an artificial version of Adam's rays.
@@FioEl54 Absolutely agree with you there. Pentious had been buying parts from Carmine so he likely had some angelic weapon parts or something. With Alastor, he did the exact opposite of what Carmine told Vaggie to do: he fought for himself rather than for the sake of someone else, he didn't use angelic weapons, and he fought like he was invincible.

First off, let me say that you commentary for the series was most enjoyable! It seems so rare when someone has any insight on angelology/demonology while still being chill about artistic design and interpretation.
You also gave me a few new perspectives on some of the scenes and subjects I hadn't even considered. Always love when I'm pushed to think about things differently.
Altruist isn't Alastors last name, its a term for someone who cares for others without asking for anything in return. Which is the kind of person he does NOT want to be known as at all, thus why hes so angry and distressed as he says it
You can see Valentino seeing his life flash before his eyes, he's lucky Niffty only took a piece of fluff, LOL.Thank you for the videos, really enjoyed you going on this journey. (The finale song made me tear up, too. It was touching to see Lucifer and Cherri getting on board.) Here's to s2! It'll be interesting to see where things go from here! Regarding Lilith and Lute, I almost wondered if the deal was with Lute and not Adam-- that Lute would get to be in charge with Adam out of the way (and that her reaction to Adam was fake). Since I can't imagine Adam being able to stop himself from rubbing that secret in Charlie or Lucifer's face. Hopefully s2 clarifies what was going on!

Alastor was having a mental break, but i think in the moment you pointed it out, it was specifically him being mad at the idea of being remembered as someone who died for his friends

One theory floating around as to why Lucifer didn't step in to help Charlie sooner was regarding the terms of extermination that Lute had hinted to earlier. Hellborn kind were spared, only sinners were killed. Once Adam started fighting Charlie seriously, all bets were off. It's believed to be why Lucifer said, "You come at me, and my daughter!?" Just before beating him into the ground.
I mean Lute literally tells us that is the case the first time we meet her. When she tells Charlie the only reason she is safe is because of the deal her daddy made with Heaven. That is why Lucifer couldn’t show up sooner
I believe the reason that Sera seemed distressed at the end was because of her realizing how horribly mistaken she was and she passed the extermination. She could have also banished Lucifer who also tried to do that before.
In case you didn't pick up on this, Charlie mentions that Lillith hasn't contacted her for 7 years.

Well, Lilith is his ex so Charlie isn't related to him, and the angels that are heaven-born (like Lucifer, I think) aren't related to him either. That said, most of the people he _successfully_ killed are his Greatx300 grandchildren.
It's such an underrated moment when Lucifer proudly tells Adam "You're in *my* house, bitch."
Lucifer isn't from Hell. It's his punishment. Until now, he's been a recluse who doesn't keep up with what's going on in his own kingdom.
For him to finally accept Hell as *his* home and *his* house is so fuckin' cool.

i just find it so funny that Alex brightman is the voice actor for both pentious and adam so alex brightman basically killed alex brightman and then alex brightman died by niffty.
The reason for alastors mental break at the end was because almost getting killed to Adam gave him a gigantic ego blow I thinks he’s indestructible and when he realizes he’s not it quite literally drives him insane and we saw a glimpse of it when he turns off his radio filter on his voice it’s a thing he self consciously adds to his voice and in the moment he realized his staff broke the character of alastor broke and we got to see a few seconds of who he really is whenever his voice filter turns off those are moments in which the mask he puts up is let down and almost comes out of character
I don't think Alastor ever stood a chance against Adam.
Adam was not taking him seriously at the beginning. Alastor only achieved to piss him off, so he began to fight seriously, and Alastor was defeated in a few seconds then.
I think only Lucifer could defeat Adam here. Maybe Zestial, because he's the oldest Overlord, meaning he has more souls and more experience (we saw people commiting suicide just at the sight of him), but he wasn't there
It's been stated by Viv that Alastor is the most powerful sinner.
We've seen no feats from Zestial in the show that would suggest he is more powerful. Even Velvette wasn't scared of him... Carmilla and others are just respectful of him.

It could simply be that Zestial "revels in the screams" meaning, he likes to actively attack and/or torture people.
Alastor doesn't really do that, he mostly leaves people alone unless they irritate him.
I think if Alastor had an angelic weapon, in those initial hits before Adam was really taking him seriously, he could have snuck in a hit. Don't know what Alastor thought he was going to accomplish at all without a weapon capable of harming angels.

30:15 Altruist means selfless, and he's not naming himself, he's writing an epitaph, "Great Alastor, altruist, died for his friends" but quickly adds that this isn't the case, to someone's disappointment (and it's unlikely he's referring to the V's)
Altruist I think is only caring for yourself, and when he said “died for his friends” it shows him surprised at him changing
Altruist is not his last name, at least I would never believe so. Some people seem to believe that because the word uses a capital A in the lyrics but I believe it's done that way to be seen as a title, one of that Alastor views as a mockery since if he were to have died against Adam, that's what he believes that hell would remember him as, which given how Alastor is, is something he hates the thought of.

Adam can break the shield because he's just more powerful than the other exorcists.
Angelic or heavenly power already holds sway over demonic power in general, and Adam also has "first man" privileges. So despite being just a human soul, he's "special" because he was created by the angels directly, first human soul in heaven etc.... He holds more power.
Honestly glad to see Alastor be humbled a bit. People constantly hype him up like he's unbeatable and you're SUPPOSED to believe that because that's what HE wants people to believe. He IS powerful, as overlords are, but his whole thing is control through fear and manipulation. He's far from being the strongest in hell. So it was nice to see some vulnerability here.
One thing that I thought was interesting is that when Sir Pentious sacrificed and redeemed himself, he didn't show up at the gates like others, and like Charlie's visit..he was practically dropped into Serra's lap. The Seraphim obviously didn't have anything to do with it, and they were the top tier we've seen so far..it felt like someone was making a point.
Had to sacrifice a lamb to summon Lucifer of course.
Sera was likeky feeling a mix of surprise and regret.
Pentious' redemption proves that Charlie was right, and Sera realizes she ordered the exterminations needlessly.

People complaining that they didn't honor Alastor as they did to Sir Pentious, but I think they figured he wasn't dead because Nifty and Husk would probably knew if that was the case because they are link to him. Their deal would be done.
I think I haven't been obsessed with a set of soundtrack like this since the greatest showman.
I hope season 2 keeps the quality of everything this high.

Everyone seems to forget that Pentious by Vivs own admittance was meant to be a one time character.
Alastor said altruist as mockery that he almost died for people he realistically doesn't care about who are means to an end.
My favorite thing is the fact that I'm pretty sure Charlie thought that Alastor was killed by Adam, but only Pentious and Dazzle got memorials 🤣
I can just imagine how annoyed Alastor, who was irritated that the other overlords hadn't been wondering about his disappearance, would be to come back having been humbled by Adam annihilating him, only to find out his was the only "death" not mourned lol
They did add a radio tower despite not knowing he was still alive. So that could be considered his tribute

I understand why most were upset about Vaggie, Charlie and Lucifer choosing mercy, but I think that it's worse for Adam and Lute because: one, it's a shameful defeat to them, two, they never showed mercy, and they're angels, they're the "virtuos" (as St Peter stated)...so it turns out, Hell people are BETTER thaj Heaven people. Will it bite them in the back later? Yep...but wasn't vengeance also a SIN, Lute?
Another note. It was war, but Hell attacked in self defence, and I'm sure that although the Exorcist forces had a lot of loses this one time, it's not compared to how many they took for years. So if Sera (now pretty much proven wrong and hsving her hypocrit face slapped with Sir Pentous being redeemed) is willing to make a comment on it, Lucifer (who's now totally on board, "this is My House!") Will have every right to shut her up..please 😬
35:45 SHE is the one that gave the go-ahead to Adam to slaughter COUNTLESS souls in order to "protect heaven", and it just got rubbed in her face that it was potentially UNNECESSARY. She's dealing with the weight of her actions.

I'm not gonna lie after sir pentius' death I realize that even if a soul is redeemed it must die again to be judged again which I wonder how charlie will react when she learns this bit of information
I just noticed that in like the second or third view of the news channel after the battle then the ticker on the bottom legit goes like "When are we gonne get season 2!?"
With your comment about Husk using his wings during the battle, it's been stated by Vivziepop that Husk does not like using his powers unless absolutely necessary, including his wings - my theory is it's because he sold his soul to Alastor in exchange for being allowed to keep his powers, so using them reminds him that he only still has them because of his contract with Alastor.
Sir Pentius Already has a multi eye motif. He also didn't appear at the pearly gates, but apparated among the seraph. Is Sir Pentius a new Seraphim? That would automatically promote Emily, as she would no longer be the least seraph. If Sir Pentius is a seraphim now, then he can't be tucked away in a corner to be ignored.
This is my theory as well. I know it kills the whole “Seraphim are heavenborn” but the eyes and the fact that instead of his solid hood, his hood now resembles six eye-filled wings, just adds to my suspicion.

I think if he'd had an angelic weapon, Alastor maaaay have had a chance against Adam, but being the first man and leader of the angels, he is significantly more powerful. But considering that Alastor managed to land some hits, it'f he'd had an angelic weapon he might have been able to hit him. I don't really understand why he didn't, if it was just cockiness on Alastor's part or what, you'd think he would be smart enough to arm himself properly. I mean he wouldn't have been able to harm any of the angels without an angelic weapon, not just Adam.
In the song he said he almost died for his friends so deeply cares for them
Apparently there were supposed to be 22 episodes per season, if I remember correctly. That probably accounts for the extremely truncated pacing.
Jesus fuck, that's just cruel. If that's the case then the pacing would have been understandably breakneck at 11 episodes, 8 is way too harsh.
I hope some of those 14 sacrificed episodes can be repurposed into season 2 episodes.

It was Razzle who died, and every time I see Dazzle next to the statue of his brother, I always start crying.
I reckon we may see more of Adam in S2, but he gets banished to hell..
I'm of two minds about Sera's expression in that scene. On one hand, I can absolutely believe there's sketchy stuff going on in heaven and that she's upset about Pentious arriving because it's going to cause a lot of trouble for her. On the other, I could equally believe the horror on her face is because she's just seen proof that she was wrong in her approach, and she's realizing that for millennia she's been destroying souls that could have been redeemed. That sort of realization has got to hit like a ton of bricks if she's not evil.
I have a feeling that the answer to that will determine if she survives the next season or two. If she's evil I can see her being one of the main bad guys for the rest of the show. On the other hand, if she was just misguided and is willing to change, I think her days are numbered. Lute strikes my as the kind of religious fanatic who absolutely would not admit she was wrong, and would take matters into her own hands if she thought the people in charge were betraying what she believed to be right. Heck, even Adam was shown to think she was a bit on the extreme side a few times. Having someone like that in charge of heaven's armed forces seems like a good way to end up with a coup if Sera does try to change things.
In the final scene with Lilith, we can see that she does not have a halo unlike all the other angels, including Pentious. We can therefore think that she is not part of the Heavens, but that she is still a demon but in completely human form.
One reason I could think of, why Adam didn’t use his “holy light” while fighting Charlie, would be that maybe if he uses it while being to close to it’s impact he might be affected as well, since holy weapons/powers can damage demons as well as the angels. If that is the/a real reason, that would make sense to me

When Alastor and nifty are talking and they look down at everyone you can see the snake guy telling Charlie that he has a crush on Cherri and that’s why when snake dude is about to confess she’s in the background like that
If I had to venture a guess as to why Sera wasn't as happy to see Sir Pentious, I would say it's because she had gone on and on about how she had to shoulder the burden of making the hard decision and doing what had to be done re: extermination by allowing it to happen. And Sir Pentious getting into heaven and proving that Charlie's method works, that means that she was wrong. That means she sentenced countless souls to death for thousands of years when there was another way. She's got a lot of self reflection to do. So we'll see if she does it in season 2 and takes accountability, or if she doubles down and lashes out because she doesn't want to acknowledge her guilt.

My theory about why Sera is not happy about the proof that the hotel works is that now she has to accept that she authorized the permanent destruction of souls that were deserving of heaven. If it wasn't possible, Heaven could fully write off those souls as irredeemable demons, no longer human at all. If it's possible, she was responsible for the murder of human souls, and more than that, being an angel discouraging goodness in the universe due to sheer lack of imagination. If being killed with an angelic weapon destroys the soul completely, but Adam's little death ray is something that would just kill them normally, pushing them to the next life, then that's why there's never been a switch in location that occurred from the exorcisms.
That's why Lucifer morning star said now. I know it in that song.

I mentioned before a small curious detail that I never seen anyone notice. Mostly because reactors are usually overcome with joy and surprise when they see Sir Pentious in heaven but here we go: Has anyone noticed the curious detail of WHERE Pentious appeared. "HEAVEN!" Yes in heaven but look WHERE in heaven. He didn't appear in front of Snt. Peter at the entrance where one would normally expect a new heavenly soul to appear.
Sir Pentious appeared in what could be an office for the High Seraphim or their bedroom. Suggesting a higher power might be at play! Am I crazy for thinking this?

While according to the lore, angles and demons do come back, that is only unless they are killed by angelic weapons (which is why the exorcists use the angelic weapons and why Carmilla sold them the weapons). Niffty killed Adam using the angelic blade that Charlie gave her so Adam cannot come back.
Yes, but Pentious was killed by Holy Light and came back so it could be that the higher power can intervene if it chooses.

im assuming sera is upset because of how many souls were destroyed, now knowing that they could be redeemed and she is basically responsible for all of those deaths

Adam seems like an archangel. because he commands the exorcists, but he also seems to have more freedom in what he does and speaks. I believe wholeheartedly that lucifer is a fallen Serafim. but this is just my opinion.
To me it felt weird how Al tried to block Adam’s attack with his staff. Like we saw him dodge earlier attacks with ease but the big attack he just tried to tank it.
Considering how caught off guard he looked, I think whoever holds his leash might have gave it a tug and froze him in place. I think it was very deliberately timed to mess him up.
Doesn't Penius's ascention mean that the sinners have to "die" again to get into heaven? So Charlie and the gang have to get someone to a point that they think will be good enough to be redeemed and then kill them and hope for the best?

And following that logic, If a sinner needs to die to be reevaluated and possibly redeemed; a winner has to die too in order to be reevaluated and condemned. Guess Adam is staying another season, eh?
I interpreted as his sacrifice was the major deciding factor for the first sinner to be redeemed. Unlikely to be the standard going forward.

Adam is one of my favorite characters, to me, he is well written villain. Vivienne and some animators and writers wrote on Twitter that he is one of their favorite characters, and how fun they have writing him. A charismatic funny cocky toxic spoiled misogynistic sexist based douchebag that you have fun love to hate. And there is a reason why he is that evil. He wasn't evil when he was alive, he was just a selfish person who fought his wife was made for him in his eyes, because she appeared a little bit later after his birth, and he wanted her to do what he wants, he demanded control, let's not forget that he is first human, he didn't have parents who could teach him a discipline and what's right and wrong, he grew up in the environment that morals for humanity didn't existed yet, when he get to heaven, Sera didn't make him realize that he made mistake, and the fact that Lilith didn't submit his will, and later with lucifer exposed earth to the root of all evil, and perhaps possessed his new wife Eve, in Adam's eyes that makes his actions, his idea "that woman are not equals as him but a man's additions who should submit him" look good, when Lilith and Lucifer are villains in his point of view. Also in hazbin hotel he didn't ate the fruit of knowledge, because of this, he didn't gain knowledge, did not allow him to realize his mistakes, and cannot find the difference between good and evil, so he has black and white views. And then Sera gives him a royal fancy live, that he will get anithing he wants on the silver platter, and not facing a consequences of his mistakes, and he lived like Kuzco, without love and discipline reveling in power in ten thousands years, so what's why he is so spoiled frat bro and has God complexes, because of the fact he get from Sera and Elders that he is the first human, a special who gave birth to humanity, reason why Adam is so evil is due to him being spoiled rotten because of how he had the whole world in his favor on how he wanted to see it fit, making him labeled to be too special for his benefit, ironically this makes him more in line with how the original biblical Devil is than Lucifer, having his perfection corrupt him. In first episode what he sayed, he was wrong, but he didn't lied because he genuinely believes in that.
My theorie about Emily is that she is the replacement for Lucifer in heaven
He is a Serphim just like her and Emily was the only high angel that wasn't there in the Lucifer flashback in episode one and Sera stated she is younger than the rest
Something I've been wondering is if we haven't seen the last of Adam. If Sir. Pentious was redeemed, and its possible that hell is not forever, then what if Heaven isn't forever either? I have a sneaking suspicion Adam is now a sinner somewhere in hell.

I think the issue is the following:
Redemptions need the ultimate sacrifice.
So you cannot tell anyone, or the sacrifice would lose its value.
And you cannot stop Exterminations, because how else could you enable Redemptions?
And now Emily has to break her promise to Charlie, because (for now) she cannot make Charlie's dream come true, without the exterminations.
Breaking a promise, that sounds like something, that could lead to the fall of an angel...Poor Em, I hope she will figure out a way to make Charlie's dream come true without the Exterminations.
This would also explain why Lucifer had to agree to the Exterminations. Either that, or no redemptions.
And it would also explain what made Lucifer fall: he wanted to create a walkaround, but the other angels didn't want to overrule divine judgement.
(Charlie's dreams are the same as Lucifer's dreams, according to "More than anything".)
Or, they stop the determinations and Lucifer steps up as a ruler to reign in the sinners so that the pentagram isn't such a shitty place for everyone to live in. That way souls that aren't ready for redemption aren't needlessly erased.
Think about it like this, at least the thought just occurred. if a sinner can be redeemed and go to heaven, technically that also means 'lucifer' could be forgiven for his transgression as well. which maybe that passing thought could be why sera seems disgusted by this. I doubt the show will go into such depth, but it certainly is fun to think about. much deeper reasons for why things played out the way they did and why they even let the humans thrive to begin with knowing that sin was sown into them by eve's choice when they 'could' have just deleted adam and eve and remade them with Lucifer unable to interfere after being reprimanded. That's why the concept of god is fascinating because ultimately 'he' or 'it' could decide absolutely if he wanted perfection, but it seems as if he did not mind at all what lucifer did because thats how he designed lucifer to begin with. so the conflict likely was between lucifer and the other angels or in this case 'sera'. god don't give a damn one way or another because there is nothing in creation that can challenge its position.. I could ramble about the possibilities or speculations all day.

Theory: OK, so two important characters from both sides die. Sir Pentious dies confessing his love for Cherry Bomb and sacrificing himself for the friends he loves. Adam dies after being humiliated by the Morningstar's mercy and stabbed brutally by Nifty, someone considered to be one of the least powerful and a housewife if I remember right. What if... for every soul redeemed - a soul from heaven is damned to switch places with them in Hell? Adam was misogynistic, narcissistic, and a proud killer for entertainment up to his last moments. Wonder if we should expect to see Adam in Hell later, and how Lute would react to him becoming a demon.
Who would be happy to find out that they authorized the murder of sinners when all along they could've been redeemed, which would give them all the potential to be one of her brethren in a future state? Finding this out recontextualizes her past choices to her and therefore what kind of person she is. I'm sure this is a big deal to someone who is supposed to be the highest example of morality. She is having an 'oh shit' moment where she realizes that she was wrong and now has to feel guilty about what she did.
I kind of hope Season 2 starts with Lilith finishing Lute off right there on the beach for her attitude. Don't declare you're in charge now if you can't back that up, Lute.
