So beautiful and magnificent. Words can't describe the experience you must have felt. Thank you for sharing and for having the drive to keep pushing yourself in new directions!
This is so beautiful. You have captured so much beauty. Ive had the dream of endless skating for miles and miles, you just skated my dream. I saw the article on you and your film in the PSA magazine and I had to check it out. Thank you for sharing keep up the exceptional work. I'll be looking for more projects by you. :)
Fabulous job Laura! Just watched on my google cardboard! Everything was amazingly well executed, from the colors to the 3D to the Title! And of course the story and locations were amazing! I hope this is just a taste of what is next to come!
Sums up an AHHHH moment. Poetry, readiness, practice, determination, love, respect, intellect, and beauty. Absolutely awesome craftsmanship of the video, the words, and all from your heart. So wonderful. Much respect for you.
Awesome skating and cinematography. Outdoor skating on natural bodies of water is wonderful. The shot starting at 0:46 showing you donning the life jacket and hand spikes on a lanyard was important. Perhaps a bit more close up shots about the preparation part. I am sure the ice may have been a foot or more thick. Natural ice can vary with current flows and have pressure ridges etc. Many will be inspired by your work and will hopefully venture out as prepared as you are. Thanks for the inspiring video.
Thanks so much! It is so wonderful, magical, joyous. Ice safety is super important and was for me to share the gear elements, I'm glad you noticed! The ice in that spot was about 3in :) closer to 2in in the waters edge shot but much thicker in the majority of the shots. Thanks for the kind words!
Very nicely done, but some of the clips have the left and right eyes off center when viewed with the oculus go. You can see it right away in the first clip after the title sequence. Would love to see a corrected version.
Oh good, someone else noticed this, so it wasn't just me. I just made a comment about the same thing. I suspect that these sections are not fixable. They were likely caused by the camera not being set up level when filming.
In a VR180 video bad misalignment of the left eye and right eye cameras can badly damage the overall experience for the viewer. Case in point, your video here. There are several times in the video where the alignment of the entire image seems dramatically off, which I'm guessing was caused by the camera sitting at an angle, rather than level. It's really a shame in this case, because these portions are extremely uncomfortable to view, and most people will have no idea why their eyes are hurting and why their eyes can't comfortably fuse the images. And most of the video is so lovely, and interesting, and professionally made. I think I'd love to re-watch this video multiple times if it weren't for this issue.
One of the best wild ice skating video ever! No idea who disliked
