    I think Lonzo could have been a pretty good PG 15+ years ago. These days, it's pretty tough to be a great anything if you have a broken jumper and are afraid to go to the line.

    • @dwighthoward8754
      @dwighthoward8754 5 лет назад +33

      @@basedkhalid It's true that it's too early to tell he's gonna be a bust. But it's been a while since we've been a 2nd overall pick so disapointing in his first two seasons. And last time we did it didn't turn out so well. He was supposed to be a skilled pointguard, and was more hyped about his offense than defense. Right now, he is unable to attack the rim because he's not efficient there, and he's too afraid to go to the line. (41% from the line this year, one of the worst percentage ever.), he's got no jumpshot, either catch and shooting or pulling up off the dribble, wich makes him almost unable to properly run a pnr as defense is not worried about him shooting. Only thing he is good at is playmaking, but even there he's nothing crazy. Some flashy passes for sure, but he has got a 2,5 assist / to ratio, wich is just a bit above average, so even there he's not that efficient.
      But, it's encouraging to see his defense improvement. As long as he'll stay focus on developing his game and not off the court stupids stuffs, and he keeps working on his mindset and skillset, he'll probably have a decent nba career. But I can't see him reaching the level he was expected to reach. And when it's all said and done, his legacy will suffer from the fact he was drafter 2nd overall, ahead of Tatum, Mitchell, Markkanen, Fox, Smith Jr, Collins, Adebayo, Allen, Anunoby, Kuzma, White, Hart, Bryant and morris.

      @@dwighthoward8754 He has some big flaws but do several things well. Overall, I think he is basically a Ricky Rubio with better D but 45% FT. The free throw is a big problem because that means Lonzo can't stay on count late in game. He can be a good starter for a weak team, but will be hard to fit in an elite team in modern NBA with his problem with shooting and free throws. Even Chuck Hayes shoot 62% at FT.....

      @@calebstevens9446 Good offense beats elite defense. Sometimes players just make shots/are hot even if they are defended perfectly. The best a defender can do is make the offensive player work hard, bother them, force them to their left when they prefer going right.. etc. This is especially the case when we're talking about defending on the perimeter.
      and I more or less think Lonzo is a scrub right now. His shot is straight up broken. It seems like the mechanics/physics of it only work for his 3 pointer in a couple spots. No midrange at all. I think he might have an ok floater, and he can finish layups/dunk.
      Except he won't layup/dunk often cause he can't drive to the rim due to risk of being fouled. His FT looks awful, I think he's 35% this season, Shaq was better than him. Which means he's unplayable during the playoffs due to hack-a-zo.

      BeingWokeTV He holds opposing guards to around 38% shooting, is a good passer, the only knock on him is his poor shooting. However as a player he contributes on the defensive end and on offense he helps move the ball. He may be a terrible scorer but the NBA has poor shooters that are elite defensively. Marcus Smart, Roberson, Lonzo, Draymond, none of them are decent shooters, but they make their team so much better without even scoring. Smart entered the lineup and Boston is now at the 5th seed and he's a terrible shooter. For every star on a team you need a unselfish player who'll do the work.

      @@daedot8433 - Lonzo's play, while good at times, hasn't merited major attention. His father's seeking fame by taking advantage of his son's position. He's a stage father who's, quite frankly, a royal pain in the butt like all stage parents are. He thinks he knows everything and his constant deriding of the team and the coach for not treating his son like a superstar has led the Lakers to openly tell him to shut up and mind his own business. Lonzo Ball is not a superstar, not yet anyway, but if his father continues to cause distractions it could have serious implications. The Lakers could have trouble if they try to trade Ball and he could have some problems in free agency because teams generally wouldn't want to put up with his father's shenanigans. When things aren't how he likes it, he goes in another direction like that's gonna work forever. He screwed the younger two out of UCLA. He could very well screw Lonzo out of the NBA if he doesn't shut up. Lonzo needs to cut the corporate tie from his father before he ruins everything. He's doing more harm than good. Market the brand on the outside, don't publicly critique his coach and organization, the hell is wrong with you? The team that took him second overall, that's who ur calling out ?! Talking about LeBron like that wasn't Lonzo's favorite player growing up, and like he can't help Lonzo. Talks about Luke Walton, yet wants his son to go to an 11-44 team instead of one that has a chance to make the postseason. Then, he wants some team to pick up all three of his boys? He'll get you some rebounds, assists, point, steals, etc, but he'll never excel in any one area for long. Call him a jack of all trades if you want. But here's the thing: this isn't a knock on the kid at all. A lot of championship teams have had guys similar to him as part of their successful formula. He doesn't have to be an All-Star or All-Pro to be a success. A lot of guys have great careers and become rich without ever being either.

    now that Lonzo fixed his shot he is a legit rising star. His shooting is no longer a weakness. With his free throw shooting actually good now and if 3pt % and finishing way better he is going to make a huge jump next season or he already has because he figured it out after december when he started playing consistent minutes. And we'll see his true numbers next season because they are being weighed down by a slow start. Post all-star break he is averaging 14 pts, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists, and in march he is averaging 21 pts, 8 rebounds, & 7 assists over the last 4 games.

    People think those are the only 2 categories to put top draft picks in. Superstar or Bust. That's not always the case. Andrea Bargnani was the no. 1 pick a few years back. Just because he didn't develop into an all star and was just a decent player doesn't mean he sucked like Kwame Brown being pick no. 1.

    When Zo controls the game, he plays better. Go watch the game against the Thunder in OKC where Zo locked down Westbrook and hit big shots to end with 18 points and 10 assist with Lebron and Rondo missing. Zo's 2nd year was thrown off by 3 things: 1. He came back this year not having worked out during the summer as he recovered from knee surgery 2. The Lakers subjugated Zo to a spot up shooter when he's a point guard like Steve Nash, John Stockton, or Jason Kidd. It was a mistake for the Lakers to push him out the point guard role. There were times when Lebron, Rondo, Ingram, and even Stevens were given point guard assignments above Lonzo. 3. Luke Walton never allowed Lonzo to be himself. Luke likes Veterans and would pull Zo when he made a mistake. Yet the Veterans make me mistakes through out the game and stays in the game. Zo impacts wins and that's obvious when he's missing. Zo's last game against the Rockets in Houston, Zo had 11 assist and 8 points at the 1/2 with a 20 point lead without Lebron and Rondo. He gets hurt and the Lakers lose. Most of the NBA Executives would love to steal Zo at a low cost because his upside is greater than any rookie in his class.

Superstars are not hard to find. We all know who they are and they follow money and location. Lakers have both.
