@@basedkhalid It's true that it's too early to tell he's gonna be a bust. But it's been a while since we've been a 2nd overall pick so disapointing in his first two seasons. And last time we did it didn't turn out so well. He was supposed to be a skilled pointguard, and was more hyped about his offense than defense. Right now, he is unable to attack the rim because he's not efficient there, and he's too afraid to go to the line. (41% from the line this year, one of the worst percentage ever.), he's got no jumpshot, either catch and shooting or pulling up off the dribble, wich makes him almost unable to properly run a pnr as defense is not worried about him shooting. @@calebstevens9446 Good offense beats elite defense. Sometimes players just make shots/are hot even if they are defended perfectly. The best a defender can do is make the offensive player work hard, bother them, force them to their left when they prefer going right.. etc. This is especially the case when we're talking about defending on the perimeter. and I more or less think Lonzo is a scrub right now. His shot is straight up broken. It seems like the mechanics/physics of it only work for his 3 pointer in a couple spots. No midrange at all. I think he might have an ok floater, and he can finish layups/dunk. Except he won't layup/dunk often cause he can't drive to the rim due to risk of being fouled. His FT looks awful, I think he's 35% this season, Shaq was better than him. Which means he's unplayable during the playoffs due to hack-a-zo.
He doesn’t really need to be THAT good of a scorer, he just needs to be more of a threat on a pick and roll. Right now you just guard his drop off man, cause you know he’ll rarely finesse a shot in
BeingWokeTV He holds opposing guards to around 38% shooting, is a good passer, the only knock on him is his poor shooting. However as a player he contributes on the defensive end and on offense he helps move the ball. He may be a terrible scorer but the NBA has poor shooters that are elite defensively. Marcus Smart, Roberson, Lonzo, Draymond, none of them are decent shooters, but they make their team so much better without even scoring. Smart entered the lineup and Boston is now at the 5th seed and he's a terrible shooter. For every star on a team you need a unselfish player who'll do the work.

@@thedarkfrost2351 That's a good point to a degree. I think you're mostly correct. My main issues with Lonzo are his ability to score around the basket( or lack thereof) and his three point scoring. Lonzo is like Draymond Green. Except he's a guard and he's still very young and will still get better. His value doesn't show on the box score. In my opinion if Lonzo is on a well constructed team with the right system and he has potential to be an all star caliber player.
Draymond is a starter and central piece on a team that won multiple titles. He is an all star and DPOY. A great passer, passer, shotblocker and vocal leader. Yes definitely. The Lakers knew years ago that AD would ask for a trade. So they decided to draft a bad player and make him LOOK good rather then draft a good player.
The Lakers had some dark years of tanking that brought them into drafting top picks including Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball. Lonzo is pretty good point guard. Maybe not top 10 or anything obviously, but he's a decent facilitator, a decent defender, and a decent role player. Decent option for sure.
It's simple, everyone knows he's a good player who lacks consistency which is a problem amongst almost every player in the early years of their NBA career. Before everyone started to get injured on the lakers 2018-2019 season, I thought Lonzo ball was the best player next to LeBron. Seemed like the only one that could keep up with Lebron IQ wise.
T Yang probably cuz hes a fan of bron and has watched his games thousand times so he understands lebron. It probably helped him understand the game better too.
Exactly. He was on the same page with Lebron if only Luke Walton trusted him as a point guard since he would have Ingram as a point guard as well as Rondo and even sometimes Stevens.
Lonzo is solid point guard he has good court vision and good defense . I think he can become a consistent good shooter again like In college and develop a solid attack the rim game. He is young only his second season if there is no major progression in his game after his 4th season in the league the You can say he didn’t live up too the hype
lol ucla played nobody until the tournament they lost both in their conference and in the tournament because of a weak schedule. lonzo does not have as much potential as you think mostly because of a leg injury he seemed to suffer in high school
Omari Evans why y’all so quick to forget that with the hype that he got he should have been Luca docig with amazing defense and the very least. He already didn’t leave up to the hype so stop it.

@K Will Ingram won't be better than AD,none of those picks will be better than AD, Lonzo will never fix his jumper and will always be a liability offensively, and JHart plays to much fucking fortnite. Lakers can find more impactful role players than Lonzo and Hart in FA
Lonzo is just good, not great at the moment. Too inconsistent for that. He is capable of having some of the worst performances in the NBA (0 point game) and then some really solid ones. He obviously needs to find his rhythm. That being said, he has a lot of natural ability, and if he puts the work in he will be a star.
@Malik Kisitu the fact that he's a PG and he's not the one taking initiative to make plays and plays catch-and-shoot instead despite being terrible shooter,j ust shows his Basketball IQ and how much effort he's putting, remember that PGs are the ones who start the offense, they are the ones who bring up the ball and yet ur not even doing that? That's ur own problem.
To me the defense is the most fascinating revelation of his game. In high school and college, his motor, awareness, and defensive fundamentals were appalling, yet you could make a solid argument that all of those things are elite now.
The answer to the question is that he is neither a star nor a scrub. He's just a good, solid pro. At his best, he's basically a B-level Rondo in his prime. He'll get you some rebounds, assists, point, steals, etc, but he'll never excel in any one area for long. Call him a jack of all trades if you want. But here's the thing: this isn't a knock on the kid at all. A lot of championship teams have had guys similar to him as part of their successful formula. He doesn't have to be an All-Star or All-Pro to be a success. A lot of guys have great careers and become rich without ever being either.

now that Lonzo fixed his shot he is a legit rising star. His shooting is no longer a weakness. With his free throw shooting actually good now and if 3pt % and finishing way better he is going to make a huge jump next season or he already has because he figured it out after december when he started playing consistent minutes. And we'll see his true numbers next season because they are being weighed down by a slow start. He's not a star nor a bust. He's just an ok point guard and that's fine. As a Laker fan, I've learned to accept that. People think those are the only 2 categories to put top draft picks in. Superstar or Bust. That's not always the case. Andrea Bargnani was the no. 1 pick a few years back. Just because he didn't develop into an all star and was just a decent player doesn't mean he sucked like Kwame Brown being pick no. 1.

When Zo controls the game, he plays better. Go watch the game against the Thunder in OKC where Zo locked down Westbrook and hit big shots to end with 18 points and 10 assist with Lebron and Rondo missing. Zo's 2nd year was thrown off by 3 things: 1. He came back this year not having worked out during the summer as he recovered from knee surgery 2. The Lakers subjugated Zo to a spot up shooter when he's a point guard like Steve Nash, John Stockton, or Jason Kidd. It was a mistake for the Lakers to push him out the point guard role. There were times when Lebron, Rondo, Ingram, and even Stevens were given point guard assignments above Lonzo. 3. Luke Walton never allowed Lonzo to be himself. Luke likes Veterans and would pull Zo when he made a mistake. Yet the Veterans make me mistakes through out the game and stays in the game. Zo impacts wins and that's obvious when he's missing. Zo's last game against the Rockets in Houston, Zo had 11 assist and 8 points at the 1/2 with a 20 point lead without Lebron and Rondo. He gets hurt and the Lakers lose. Most of the NBA Executives would love to steal Zo at a low cost because his upside is greater than any rookie in his class.

WOW great video even coming to it a couple months later, almost a little spooky how you mentioned the Jason Kidd comparison seeing as though he's their assistant coach now
He can't get to the rim and create as well as he could for teammates because no one is worried about him ever scoring. Dudes can't just disregard their offense and just play D and pass like some dude in the 90s. Your PG has to be somewhat of an offensive threat for your team to not suck in today's NBA.
You should make another video on lonzo or a take on him on 5 thought, because he has changed his shooting form and now hits a handful of midrange shot which I believe will make him a better creator than before

@D Mente lmao can you name a player on the Lakers roster that has better assists than Lonzo?? Its ok....I'll wait
Basic summary of Lonzo:
He’s an amazing passer pretty good defender but horrible scorer if he improves his scoring he has potential to be very good
henry ha except he’s inconsistent. I mean he can hold Damien lillard to 5-17 12 points but then gets torched by Jeff Teague their next game.
@@calebstevens9446 Defense is inconsistent. Sometimes you're just off. It's much harder to play your best defense every game than your best offense.

Lonzo is one of the rare players that I think can’t be really described with numbers
0 points 6 rebounds 4 assists and you insane idiots will think those numbers dont describe him.

When you're the #2 overall pick in the draft, being a role player means that you ARE a bust

@@HaHaBear "Bust" means that you're a huge disappointment. Lonzo is that. People compared him to Jason Kidd and even Magic Johnson before he got into the league. I have seen him scoring around the basket more this season. I will say those scores are usually in transition but still he has become more consistent at those. I mean, he's actually driving to the basket and shooting a layup! I never would have saw that coming. His three point scoring is still inconsistent but when he's hot he does great. Draymond is a starter and central piece on a team that won multiple titles. He is an all star and DPOY. A great passer, passer, shotblocker and vocal leader. @@Battz Lonzo's stats would improve with a new team and consistent playing time. Look what he did when LeBron was out, and he was giving consistent minutes. He was shooting above 40% from 3 during that time, and being more aggressive which resulted in better stats.
@@user-gc1wj8tt2p Of course you pick a team where he wouldnt start. fucking moron. pick a team where he would average 35-38 minutes.
Great passer and I’m gonna call him a really good defender, he makes some mistakes but every defender does,
Those two things are worth a lot.
William Brown good assessment
Zo has rlly improved his 3 ball since this man, proud of the boy!!! He a SHOOTER SHOOTER now 🎯
Your channel is awesome thanks for the amazing content and breaking it down
When Zo controls the game, he plays better.
Bruh
Whose here in 2021 to say he is clearly a star…he has gotten better and better.
Def not a star. But a great role player
Some much potential. Just let the wine age and remember I'm the one of the who said hes good.
Hold ya Judgement on Lonzo I think teaming up with Zion might jumpstart his career
Yeah you're right ...playing with Zion should bump up his free throw % up to 46% and short game jumper to like 48%
LOL HOW? he already had kuzma , mcgeec lebron and he still nearly shite. playing with zion wont suddenly let him make all those threes, stop gambling on defense and make free throws.
@@noblesavvy7803 Dude only 21 bro plus his game doesn't fit with Lebron or Rondo's Plus he was hurt last year and let's not forget his dad's best friend took alot from him so I think he was jus mentally drained
Let's not forget Steph Curry was not even considered trade worthy by his 3rd season
@@frankcramo4414 Its a microwave age bro everybody learns and develops on their own pace dude had alot of distractions but I think a fresh start not jus Zion gon help him out ALOT
Although there are things that he needs to improve (offensive end) he heavenly impacts the entire team . He makes them better . So overall yes is great
Can you make an update video on how lonzos game has evolved
I can't believe he's such a bad free throw shooter. How can a guard and shooter be so bad from the free throw line?
It's really strange.
Terrible shooting mechanics
ask to markelle fultz! lol
@@2kgod598,
It's weird because he's just so elite in so many other parts of his game.
There are a lot of really bad free throw shooters in the league now.
Ben Simmons, Steven Adams, Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan, Russell Westbrook, Hasan Whiteside, Andre Drummond, Brandon Ingram, Rudy Golbert, Lebron James, Aaron Gordon, Jaylon Brown, etc...
There are so many guys who would just be completely dominant if the were even average free throw shooters.
I wonder why they don't just go old school and do the Granny Style, underhand, like the old timers who couldn't shoot did.
@@2kgod598,
It's the biggest liability on a basketball court. They don't have to guard you. Just throw a scrub on the floor at the end of the game and let them hack away.
It's just bizzarre. Elite Payers used to be able to close out games. Now they're all a liability in the 4th quarter.
Today it's better to bench your superstars at the end of the game so they don't lose it for you everytime from the foul line.
Onestop Funstop the lakers need a shooting coach although I don’t think he’ll ever be a good ft shooter he should be able to get it hopefully to like 65%
Great defender, spectacular passer, fast, smart , hustles and improving scorer. He plays with a silent violence. He’s entertaining to watch and needs the right cast/system to thrive. If I were the Lakers I’d never trade him.
I'd trade him
For which PG? That’s what they said about Curry when he shot too many threes, was an average passer and was injury-prone with his ankle. I’d never trade Ball because he’s a hard player to find. Superstars are not hard to find. We all know who they are and they follow money and location. Lakers have both.
I’d get a coach that let’s him do his thing like when they fired Mark Jackson and got him out of the way of the GS players.
you were right
I dont think he's worth all the hype YET! I think he could definitely be great one day but stuff like this takes time.
You have your sharpshooters, then you have Lonzo who is more of a blunt shooter.
In that he shoots like he just smoked a giant blunt.
Good role player
15 ppg
8-10 assist
3-5 rebound
Why saying Lonzo is a bust because his shooting sucks? Well he is a great passer defender i am not even a Lonzo fan but man he is not a bust He is even a better shooter than Ben Simmons how??? Can you say he is a bust
He was second pic!
I would also like to ask for an update here.
It would be a great thing for this offseason
It would the same except the shooting. He still lacks being able to finish through contact.
Would love to see an update to this to incorporate the second half of the season as well!
Yes he is a good player just because the media hyped him like he was a LeBron doesn't mean he won't be really good
There is a lot way better new guys then him, why should nba lose time on Lonzo and not invest in some one different? Well u know, his dad payed a lot money for him, so deal with it... Its not qbout talent its just bout how reach his family is...
lonzos the type of player who will progressively get better over time... the players in this category are tatum, giannis, ingram, kennard
time for a new version he's been shooting the heck out of da ball last season 2021-2022
Thank you for fully explaining why Lakers dropped him and kept Kuzma😏
Yea Kuzma was a big surprise to me. Glad the Lakers kept him and let Lonzo go somewhere else. I don't care whether he succeeds or not but I don't wish the dude any harm.
He's going to be a great player if no injuries and he keeps The LORD THY GOD FIRST and a GOD attitude.
Very honest analysis Of lonzo ball.I start to see a patern following young college talents going into the league. There name starts getting repeated all the time, everyone says that they are amazing, but no one really talks about their lacks and where they have to improve. And then all in the sudden, after few nba games, they all speak up more honestly and start to destroy them, making a way to negative analysis about them.Lonzo is the best example:Really hyped up coming into the league and now no one can talk objective about him.
0:53 messed that whole play up 🤣
Julian Ames lance tried to be flashy lmao
You can hate the dad but he did a hell of a job hyping up his son to the lakers. But Anthony Davis is a one of a kind generational player. So long ball family
Best video of 2019. By far
I mean if he was not a lottery pick he’s over achieving. But as a #2 he’s not looking good.
Lottery pick Lonzo - its still wayyy too early to make any judgments. Talk to me in the last year of his rookie contract and sign him 3 more years just to make sure + player option of course.
True
it's not too early anything. The guy is a role player. Please stop thinking he's some sort of future superstar lmao
@@russellwestbrook8747 very well said.have nothing against people supporting him but putting him in an all star conversation is ridiculous
@@filiphanic802 Zo will go to the all star game, its a great money grab for the NBA
Oh my, Ball is at -16 for the season. I know he was injured but thats atrocious for 47 games
Blame Luke. His offense for Zo was pass the ball and sit in the corner.
WOW great video even coming to it a couple months later, almost a little spooky how you mentioned the Jason Kidd comparison seeing as though he's their assistant coach now
He's a prospect.

So lonzo is pretty much a playmaking defender 😂😂😂

So he's pretty good at everything except scoring.
He can't get to the rim and create as well as he could for teammates because no one is worried about him ever scoring. Dudes can't just disregard their offense and just play D and pass like some dude in the 90s. Your PG has to be somewhat of an offensive threat for your team to not suck in today's NBA.
He's not a star, but he's a solid starter. Kind of like a mild fusion of Lowry and Conley, minus the offense.
You should make another video on lonzo or a take on him on 5 thought, because he has changed his shooting form and now hits a handful of midrange shot which I believe will make him a better creator than before
Very good video. Makes me appreciate Lonzo more.
