Excellent video; it brought back memories from last summer off Brightlingsea & Mersea Island in almost similar conditions; great fun & for me a tad frightening. I have a Dagger Exodus & I've rarely buried the bow to the extent that you had in this video. I also have a KayalSailor 1.4m sq. sail w/genoa, so downwind as you had paddled is amazing fun. I even cheat these days with a pair of oversized homemade outriggers, so that I can raise the sail in strong sidewinds also. A bit too much last September when the heavy sea's & out to sea off the Colne Estuary destroyed my outrigger mountings, bending them completely out of shape. You exhibit excellent paddling skills & control. Regards from Colchester, JohnnyK.
Hi John, thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, the nose buries because the P&H Valkyrie is a fast sea kayak based on surfski hull design. No loss of speed, and it gives a special feeling. We're not used to see the nose go down under the surface. Cuts like a knife through the butter! Have fun out there and be safe! Cheers!👌😊👍
Cheers Moulton! Yes, this was the prototype Valkyrie with almost no rocker at all, hence the nose diving. Have the production model now, with rocker and it is way better! 🤗👌
