how do I extract the file on Hp
So, I downloaded version 0.9.5 but I cannot run the application file of melonDS because windows says it is protecting my computer by preventing an unrecognized application from running. How do I fix this?

Two things:
1. I ran into flickering when changing the resolution scaling. Just restart Melon DS and it'll stop.
2. You no longer need to download a DS BIOS. MelonDS comes with one. It does not come with a DSi BIOS though
So i just only need to download the melonds exe file from the site?
Are you sure you didn't do anything else to solve the flickering? Restarting did absolutely nothing for me.

One thing that has always annoyed me with DeSmuME even though it is a minor thing, is that the fullscreen was horrible. It'd create a second, glitched screen stuck on the last frame before the fullscreen and it was just an eyesore. Melon has nothing of the sort and has a sleek, black background on top of that.
Been having this issue recently. I'll give melon a try on my PC then.
for me sit dosen't do that. Whenever I do Fullscreen on DeSmuME it just dose nothing and everything stays the same.
My main problems with DeSmuMe are that the game I'm trying to play always plays in Fucking Slow Motion with Potato Quality Audio no matter wtf I do and that I can't Fucking Map my Gamepad Controller or my Mouse. it Literally only Allows me to Map my Keyboard Wich is Fucking Bullshit.
You can fix the background problem btw. If you switch the display output to opengl (display setting not the render settings) it makes the background black.
@@urmanascrewed yeah melon is much better. DeSmuMe sucks ass and needs an update.
Just wanted to add some advice - if your MelonDS is slower than your Desmume, like mine, try enabling JIT recompiler - I jumped 100 frames/second on my speed-up from just that change :D

For some reason whenever i download them they aren't zipped folders is there any fix to this???
They aren't a folder in the first place, they're a single file. Put them into a folder and extract them into that folder and you'll be all good

Now this really need a toggle FastForward mode hotkey for the ultimate experience. I hate to keep pressing a button.

No, I don't think so atleast
If you're on Linux your package manager might come with them pre installed. I think it was a Linux program 1st which explains why it's so different than desmume.
Melon works well out of the box, offers also a jit compiler but its lacking settings for the way it upscale 2D elements, upping the resolution is fine for anything 3D but you need more for 2d.
You're saying that, but as someone who has tested a lot of different DS emulators, they almost all lack these options. The best "2D upscale" I have found is with DeSmuNE, because it offers a wide variety of filters, but then again they make the games lag quite a lot (and it's not because of my PC, it's quite good).
MelonDS seems to have some kind of slight upscaling filter when you select the resolution because the 2D textures do look slightly better, but yeah nothing fancy.
At least MelonDS works properly, and it has the best personalization options for screen layout and size.
@@math9172 I was probably referring to emulators for other platforms such as PSX that have features that try to isolate UI textures from 3D textures for processing for example.

In a Pokemon Challenges Video that's currently outdated he showcases the opening screen in Pokemon Black with Reshiram looking very sleek with smooth edges on the model and explains how to achieve that effect through a different version of Desmume, but on melon i can crank the 3D renderer up to 16x and it looks infinitely worse than his settings on Desmume around 2 years ago. Anyone have a fix/ know why mine seems to still look shitty?
Edit: I found that other roms such as Platinum and Soulsilver look great in 3D as advertised but even upon downloading different black and white roms from a different site they still look just as bad on Melon... Not sure what's going on...

Is there any way to make the fast forward faster it feels like it’s still very slow
This was so helpful I wanted to keep my old platinum run and couldn’t find a good ds emulator to use
the files keep downloading as broken. The appear as a piece of paper with a folded corner instead of a zip file
While the emulator does perform nice, and look nice, sometimes when i use speed up it freezes my game and I have to restart the emulator, do you know a way to stop that?

MelonDS look beautiful, but I am not able to use fast forward or frame skip. Any ideas?
Disable "Limit Framerate" under the config settings.
The only issue I'm having is screen tearing, and there's no vsync option.

Was hoping for some discussion on settings for things like sound as well because every ds emulator i've used the sound lags so bad and i can't get the game to run smoothly.

For those of you like me who were having a brain fart moment (Windows 11 User). Once saved on your PC run the file as Administrator by right clicking. That auto populated the .ini file which will allow you to save your altered settings. Enjoy!

It's a toss up between this one and DeSmuME. This one seems to have a better graphics engine? Is that what it's called? But, lacks the ability to assign save/load states to other buttons (controller) which DeSmuME does have. I'll just use both lol. I don't program so I have no idea. I hope they implement that into the emu someday. I'm trying to play DW4 right now with this emu. It would be so nice to assign save/load to (JO)Z+ and (JO)Z- instead of reaching for the keyboard lol. I'm a lazy gamer what can I say? Thanks for the video!!!
I have a problem, when I go to Video settings and then try to change the Display settings to OpenGL the emulator gets stuck and close by itself
This is so better than desmume I tried configuring that app but still lags in the end,With melon I almost didn't have to configure anything!
This doesn’t work on iPhone does it . Because I’ve saved and opened the files from zip but I can’t get the browser to load or turn into the da format . I already DS Roms saved on my phone . I just can’t get the emulators to open .

I've been thinking of doing Nuzlockes and stuff, and having the autofill setup can be pretty nice! So question remainds, MelonDS work with lua script to connect with PokeLink?
Bruhhh this video saved me so much words can’t express my thanks. Just one question is there a way to toggle speed up or only just when holding the speed up button.
Ever figure this out? Do you just have to hold the speed up button the whole time?
@@jags8 yeah I did but I would not recommend it. the speed up on melonDS has a horrible popping/crackling sound every single time you speed up. It’s sooooo frustrating to hear. I recommend using desmume X
@@shoto_9 Yeah I already switched back to desmume. Only thing is I'm on Mac so I can't access the "config" tab to toggle any turbo/speed up. Couldn't stand the speed so I went back to gba roms lol

Does anybody know how to save the controller key settings and fast forward settings? For some reason every time I start the game (Pokémon heart gold) I have to manually set the input and hotkeys settings.
What does downloading the bio files do? Mine runs fine skipping that step

For some reason, if I use open gl melonds goes to blackout. File, config etc. vanishes from top. Games run but it doesn't show any video. I am using Intel 4400 Gpu.

I seem to have a problem. While the 3d elements look fantastic 2d elements are far lower quality than the 3d ones. Example: In Pokémon the environment looks high res but the characters and Pokémon itself are rather low res. Not unbearably so but very noticeable any ideas on how to fix this.
The audio is so slow and laggy and crackly, how do I fix it?

Your not supposed to use a website to download roms... That's illegal. You should dump your own physical games into roms...
@@ShinyMooTank I just download games off of the internet because my 3DS has parental controls on it & my dad doesn't remember the password for the parental controls on my 3DS. Putting on custom firmware on your 3DS so that way you dump your 3DS games into roms is very complicated too. It's way too complicated for me. I don't care if it's illegal as long as I don't get put in jail or get fined for doing it.

I wouldn't advertise to everyone that you break laws. Its self incriminating and I doubt you'll get in trouble, but nintendo loves to make example out of people.
Its not that hard to remove parent controls without the password. Dumpling a physical cartridge is already a gray zone.

i've been trying to play pokemon white, it was working fine for a few hours but then the game started lagging horribly and now its so slow that its basically unplayable. i don't know if this is an issue with my computer or the emulator though

Use "Toggle Fps Limit", it's fast forward without holding down the button
i might be slow but im getting so lost and confused during the extract files part and the melon exe how do i do that part you went through it so quick😂
So first you right click on the melon ds file thing and hover over open with. Then you click on 7 zip file manager and when you open it click on melonDS.exe and then if you look above you'll see like a plus sign and minus sign and it will say extract and thats how to do it

For this I would use a 3ds with custom firmware to pull that save data off the cart and put it into the 3ds sd card.
