I have a small treasure. A gold Coty rouge compact from 1945. My father gave it to my mother. In 1960 when I was 5 I found it in a shed. When I was 13 my mother saw it in my drawer and was shocked to see it once more thinking it was garbage long ago. I am now 64 and I still have it. Thank you for sharing your purchases with us. I also can’t get over your books. Your Sharon Tate book was also beautiful.

Now she's gone but I'll always remember her Scarlett lips and amazing stories.
HI Laura :) I loved watching your vintage makeup haul. The May Company was Meier and Frank down here in Portland, Oregon. Meier and Frank was bought out by Macy's. They used to have a really nice Meier and Frank store downtown for years, it closed about ten years ago. I loved it was very old-timey with the old wooden display cases. Clark Gable even worked there before he became famous. I love the Art Deco 1930s lipstick cases. I wish they would reproduce the cases because I would buy them. I love your videos :) Have a nice day Laura! Becki

Hi Laura. Bravo! Great haul and video to put in context. Now that book is on my Amazon wish list. It is a pomade/brilliantine, so yes like gel except it is greasier, more like the texture of Vaseline. I cant describe the scent really, just sort of like deodorant soap

Laura your site is awesome. I use to work in a cosmetics store and we used to sell alexandra de markoff cosmetics. I used to wear it but unfortunately it's hard to get it nowadays. I would love to see you feature it on your site one day.
My grandmother died in the 60s in her late 40s i believe (breast cancer. My mom was 13) and she owned a slide up, refillable lipstick with a hinged mirror as part of the case. My mom remembers her using it so i imagine it was still a thing in the 50s and 60s (my mom being born mid 50s)
Hello Ms. Laura! I’m really enjoying your lovely videos! I found them by accident & it’s the best accident I’ve ever had! LOL! I had no idea there were others like me...and there your were!! I absolutely love, Love your videos! I It’s funny....I’ve loved make up since I was about 7 or 8 years old & I would wear my moms liquid foundation, “to school” & no one said a word! But it’s funny, the young people these days have no clue as to anything you show on your videos! My sons girlfriend is in her 40’s & has never seen or heard of any of the products you have! I’m a collector of Ladies Vintage Compacts, Carry-All’s, evening bags & purses! Even friends my age don’t know about my vintage compacts! The packaging in those days were always so beautiful, even if it was just the name of the product, they were a work of art or Art Deco! I haven’t bought any compacts in a while but since watching your videos I’ve been looking at them on EBay & I’m getting my collection out & cleaning & polishing them! I have a lot of silver plate compacts that I clean & polish, then I keep them in small plastic zip-lock bags so they don’t tarnish as fast! I even found one of my compacts that still has a tiny note in it from the manufacturer that states refills for the rouge can be purchased for 25 cents in any shade & a powder puff for 10 cents! I do remove all the rouge from the little pans because it usually smells bad & I also get rid of the powder if it smells bad to so most of mine are empty! Although I have one that has never been used, it still has the raised imprint on the rouge! I really love the older compacts with the powder sifters in them! I only have 3 of them! Where do you find all your vintage containers etc? You’ve gotten me in the mood to start collecting again! Thank you for your lovely videos & for your appreciation of the beautiful things that are no more!
I remember seeing “three flowers” or as I’m more familiar “tres flores”, in the medicine cabinet as a girl. The May Co used to be a department store here in California - I think it’s only been gone for maybe 15 years or so 🤔
What a haul! Love how the figures on some of the labels reflect the fashion/make-up of the 30s. Also I love the music used in your vids... was wondering where the one in this vid is from?
Did you order them from eBay.love the original box.i love that one with the disign on that lipstick.I would say my favorite era is 1920-40s.how about you.its that all the package looks better.i still think that they rock.too bad that those makeup companies didn't know who all those era were doing a come back.they would had kept those old not old vintage.i have that they still sale them.believe it or not I found mines in Family dollar for a dollar
In Mexico they still sell The 3 flowers cream. A lot of men use it for there hair. And the packaging still looks the same, now it's in a plastic container.
This was a wonderful video. Especially the page in the book that had the lockwood premier powder since that’s my married name. Have you ever thought of doing a video about vintage men’s products back in the day? I’m sure it wouldn’t be a very long video; mostly probably shaving cream and hair pomade but I just be curious to see.🤔
I'm trying to find out more about a tiny rouge pot I found antiquing, especially how to get the corrosion off without damaging the metal- I want to see what's inside!
The packaging was way better then, hardly any plastic....looked way prettier than what we have now.
I know modern packaging is awful

What do you think of packaging in the 1930s?
"Toilet Water" no doubt is "eau de toilette". Perfume was always perfume or "Parfum". 💕
My grandma used the french word "toilette" to describe a makeup/cosmetic routine :)
NO it's weaker than toilette...hence toilet water just a light refresh
Miriam Havard Yes! Eau de Toilette was always the weakest strength of Eau de Parfum, thereby the most affordable during the Depression
Marjorie Margel why are you using the past tense?? Eau de toilette is usually the cheapest version, lots of celebrity fragrances are eau de toilette and more high end fragrances are eau de parfum.
At least in the UK this is the system for both perfumes (for women) and aftershaves (for men)

Oh my gosh, I neeeed those books!!
As usual, love your videos! May I add, you look STUNNING! The hair, the make-up, the outfit!! Seriously... 💜💜
Awe thanks so love

@@Laurajaneatelier , Yes Laura Jane, it's so true! Just love your greeting "Hello Lovelies". 😘 💐
I realy want to see everything on the inside🥰please open things up so we can see whats in there . 🤩
She opened almost everything lol
I remember seeing “three flowers” or as I’m more familiar “tres flores”, in the medicine cabinet as a girl. The May Co used to be a department store here in California - I think it’s only been gone for maybe 15 years or so 🤔
I'm new to your channel :3 I love the music , the background and everything
Three Flowers was popular in the 90s lol. I had friends who used it - mostly guys. It was a very oily hair pomade.
What a haul! Love how the figures on some of the labels reflect the fashion/make-up of the 30s. Also I love the music used in your vids... was wondering where the one in this vid is from?
The Three Flowers brilliantine is still made today and carried in grocery stores. My dad used to use it on his hair. :-)
The 30's was a very glamorous decade for makeup
Beautiful!!
Lovely episode. Tell us about hair products thru the decades- shampoo conditioner hair sprays styling lotions.
aaah im sorry for being this person but what are the names of the music you use in your videos? its so beautiful!!!
This was a wonderful video. Especially the page in the book that had the lockwood premier powder since that’s my married name. Have you ever thought of doing a video about vintage men’s products back in the day? I’m sure it wouldn’t be a very long video; mostly probably shaving cream and hair pomade but I just be curious to see.🤔
This video is awesome 💕
I'm trying to find out more about a tiny rouge pot I found antiquing, especially how to get the corrosion off without damaging the metal- I want to see what's inside!
That Irresistible perfume was a great find
It's funny cuz you can still buy three flowers gel today, it's smells pretty but for guys lol.
Oh interesting now I want to buy it
@ Sarai Cortez, I've also seen it as "Tres Flores" in Spanish, yes & for men for the hair. Do you think same Co.?
Sarai Cortez I just bought three flowers the other day at Walmart for 3.50
