My grandma had a S.T Dupont made watch she used to "wash" with silverware cleaner 😢.
I often use Bostik "blu tack" to remove stuff in little crevasses it works well.
*Extra warning about utrasonic cleaners gold filled and gold plated cases with existing weaknesses or microfractures in the plating (many vintage watches) shouldn't be put in the cleaner, from my personal experience cavitation can take place around the existing damage and apparently the 40hz is enough to "rattle" some plating!

Hey, thanks for your feedback and support! That with the gold plated is a very good addition, thanks for that!!! :))

Great video! Regarding the capecod cloths it is stated that it should not be used on brushed or plated surfaces. The bracelet on your watch (sidelinks +clasp) is originally brushed.

Thanks a lot. Indeed, it destroys the brushing texture. Thanks for your feedback.

I save the antibacterial wipes, if my hands weren't dirty when I wiped them. You can wash the wipes if you want it clean, then use the clean wipes to clean things like watches or the car interior, then throw them away if they do get dirty.

What a great video! Thank you! My wife has just recently gotten into watches (my fault) and she’s really into vintage, especially Zodiac. I was afraid to clean them and now I am not! By the way, which model SQ is that? I can’t find one with a black dial. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks kindly!! Unfortunately i can’t tell you the exact reference right know, but they’re definitely a rare bird with fluted bezel and black dial :)

Do you know about antique Girard perregaux women's watches with diamonds? I've got one from my Grandmother and I wanted to make it into a charm until I seen what some of these are going for price wise.

The band is a black rope. The entire face has diamonds around it and 2 good size diamonds on the top and 2 on the bottom of the face. I may be sitting on something I had no clue about. I've had that watch since 2001. I couldn't find one like it on Google Lens.

@@GoldammerVintageWatches I'm scared to clean it. Looks like fun and games until water gets in it. Thanks for replying though!

You might find a very inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner at the drug store. It's to clean your rings or jewelry, so it's a smal device.

Don't polish watches!!!! Most collectors I know including myself would never buy a watch that has been polished.

To be perfectly honest with you guys if you want the best job you need a steam cleaner, I have a reliable industry 5000 it's about 700$USD (or it was) there's also cheaper model but I'm telling you steam is the way to go. Once you try it you'll never go back 😮😊

@@GoldammerVintageWatches I paid CDN$ 72 for my vevor unit but it's often at 40% off on Amazon it's perfectly fine. I'm probably gonna change it soon because it rattles way more than when I got it in 2018...
Before that I had a professional unit that I still have but the panel control had some issue and a replacement was more costly than a used unit.
