The "every faction in 40k" series by Bricky is a good and fun introduction to general 40k lore and all the factions. it is a around 2 hours split in two videos and it quite funny and has been reacted to quite a bit. I would start that to get a good primer and I find it quite funny.
Luetin is the lore master. Baldermort is a great storyteller, Bricky is enthusiastic and fun, Majorkill is good for shorter-form content, but Luetin is the one if you really want to find something out.

They must have farmers, yes, yes they do, the Imperium is an interstellar empire made up of millions of inhabited worlds, a part of those are agriworlds, worlds purely and only dedicated to creating food for the rest of the imperium
Rather than reaching out to Luetin for simple permission, you could probably reach out to him as almost an MSQ guide for stepping into 40k. He is a well regarded member of the 40k creator community and is kind of fills the same niche as My Name is Byf does for Destiny. There are other great creators in the space too, but Luetin is one of the most ideal. I love listening to Luetin long form lore videos. I have watched them all several times over. This just gave me a lovely new desire to have preach just sit in the background of all my interests. While unexpected I loved this small crossover of my subscriptions. Edit: To add I also have never done the tabletop. Your comment about liking Star Trek for example, even during the "Picard" Season 1 TV Show, they're still in the 2300's. So while yes, it's possible that if you were to put Star Trek into the 40k timeline, the technology used is still considered "Dark Age of Technology" by 40k's definition. i think the best bit of lore for newcomers is the whole "land speeder" thing. So you'd think "oh right, so it speeds across the land, its a vehicle, the name makes sense" WRONG! It's named after Arkhan Land hence the "Land" speeder. Its pure comedy at its finest.
The one thing every newcomer to the Hobby needs to understand, is the upmost sincerity behind the phrase “The emperor protects”. In spite of all the worked and inadvertent evils of the Imperium of Man, the Emperor protects.

Actually farmers are some kind of low "nobility" and they are hold in high regard they can even chose various and join various factions. Also outside normal food people are feed corpse starch especially on hive cities and it is exactly that.
Just a heads up to Preach and anyone else that's interested. There's a CRPG releasing on the 7th that's set in the 40k universe. It's based on the Rogue Trader pack, and it's looking pretty amazing. It's one of the few games I've completely bought the hype for.
"Humanity stands on the edge of annihilation" yet every single story about them I come across in this setting is them never actually losing. Human-main character plot armor bashing- aside, warhammer both 40k and the other one are both pretty dope.
Humanity never wins, Humanity merely survives. Usually through sheer pigheaded determination and frightening weight of numbers The only people who pretty much ever win is the Orks, because they're the only ones who are at least enjoying themselves while the galaxy burns....
Never losing? Well what about fall of Cadia or Noctis Aeterna that chop off like half of imperium? Yes on personal level heroes win but overall imperium is still in decline and loosing even after gains of idomitus crusade
Luetin09 is the Master a storyteller of the Warhammer 40k universe lore and the tales are wild and dark but so damn good. Once your sucked in, every other game lore seems inferior to Warhammer 40k. There is another guy called Bricky who also tells some really great Warhammer 40k stories and he does some awesome videos for which he has a few starter vids that does an awesome job in breaking up and explaining All the factions in the 40k universe and its solidly a great primer to the 40k universe. Bricky has a 2 parter video for that and it’s by no means short, but it’s so damn good time seems irrelevant watching and listening to it. I hope Preach has a dedicated stream to watch Brickys Every Faction in Warhammer 40k. It's supposed to give Preach a jumping off point so he has a better understanding when exploring Warhammer 40k. Something to simplify what they're about, that way when you go indept about "The Horus Heresy" you at least understand "Ah one of the emperor's children who betrayed him. How did this happen in detail?" Be sure not to overwhelm newcomers with a Novel of information :) simplify at first, than go into detail when they want to dig in.
So to tie 40K back to something you know more of, Starcraft was originally going to be a Warhammer game, but GW wouldn't let Blizzard at that time use their IP. This is why Terran soldiers in SC look a lot like WH40K Space Marines. The Zerg were going to be Tyranids and the Protoss were going to be Eldar. Without the IP, Blizzard just changed the names in the story and made their own thing.
It was warcraft, not starcraft. Starcraft they just straight up ripped them off since they got away with it for Warcraft. Though they did get a letter shortly before release over the Zerg, which Starcraft 1's credits includes a thank you to GWS for not suing the shit out of them. But is also why Cerebrates were dropped after SC1 as a necessary part of the Zerg organism system. According to the team working on Starcraft, they hadn't even heard of Warhammer, and were just basing everything on a bunch of classic sci-fi franchises. Zerg were based on a combination of Xenomorphs, Predator, Bugs, and The Thing. The Terrans are based on the United Earth Federation from Starship Troopers and some stuff from Dune and Starwars. The Terran Marines are based on the Mobile Assault Infantry from Starship Troopers and have the look of the Book version but the life expectancy/capabilities of the Movie version. Space Marines in 40k are also based on the Mobile Assault Infantry from Starship Troopers (book version), but are much weaker. (MAI in the book are basically terminator armor marines with the agility to assault marines, that can fly for up to 24 hours without having to land, and their "bolters" shoot tactical Nukes instead of mini-rockets).

Luetin has some of the best 40k videos however most of hes videos are not as beginner friendly but they are very good for ppl with a basic understanding of 40k. There is however another yt creator (Bricky, Every single Warhammer 40k (WH40k) Faction Explained) that has what i would say is a near perfect 2 part video series for new ppl that wanna know the foundation of how 40k works with its factions, lore and abit of tabletop info aswell. This is easily the best video for new ppl to watch to understand how this world works and then move into Luetin videos being more specialized and indeapth. 24:57 Is the Emperor dead? well that entierly depends on how u define being dead. Once u se him u will understand.
Dont tarr us midlanders with that same brush! I've never heard anyone around here say "anythink", but ive got some family in Sunderland that seem to say it a lot....
When it comes into going into the miniature side i always point to the Christmas Boxsets GW puts out called Battleforces. They are packets of small armiers, usually meant for the skirmish format of the game, but are always cheaper than buying the same force piece meal. I mean they are still around 250-280 bucks, so definitely not for everyone.
There are two sides to 40K. There is the "Plastic Crack" painting and playing the models. Then, there is the lore surrounding it. Both have a following. I am on the lore side. As I have not touched a figure on 30 years.
"1000 souls die every day" sounds like the kind of voodoo Preach is pulling to somehow be aging in reverse..? How does he look YOUNGER NOW than he did in the OG live action Legacy Of vids!
The table top is fun, but expensive and you need a place near you that has lots of players. My city used to have a couple, it was mostly Magic and other cards games but warhammer was there as well. I still have my start of what was going to be my Drukhari army, but people lost interest and went to college/their own way and stopped playing even minor games. That happens sometimes though. I am talking 20 year old models from way back when, and I still have my Orks from fantasy from that time as well. I will always treasure them.
Seeing Preach watch Luetin feels like a weirder crossover of my interests then when he played Persona 5.

Looking healthy brother keep it up
Whelp. I can't wait to see what army he builds.
hope we get more preach reacting to 40k
Dont tarr us midlanders with that same brush! I've never heard anyone around here say "anythink", but ive got some family in Sunderland that seem to say it a lot....
Bricky's 40k videos next?
When it comes into going into the miniature side i always point to the Christmas Boxsets GW puts out called Battleforces.
They are packets of small armiers, usually meant for the skirmish format of the game, but are always cheaper than buying the same force piece meal.
I mean they are still around 250-280 bucks, so definitely not for everyone.
Baldemort is fun too. 40K is dark enough you can hold your hand in front of your face and barely see it.
There are two sides to 40K. There is the "Plastic Crack" painting and playing the models. Then, there is the lore surrounding it. Both have a following. I am on the lore side. As I have not touched a figure on 30 years.
and down we go the warhammer rabithole Lore
Love me a good, war40k reaction vid!
Interesting, I was just looking at the 2023 introductory set on Amazon when I saw this get uploaded. lol
I really hope Preach gives painting a try. He may find out he enjoys it
Would love to see preach play some more Warhammer games, like Space Marine and Darktide
Imperium shoots everything on sight because... everything else shoots everything on sight or even worse.
Preach has finally found the same hobby I found after WoW now 12 years ago.
I'm in a trippy fever dream right now.
Preach reacting to Luetin09 Slannesh would be very pleased: Perfection.
"1000 souls die every day" sounds like the kind of voodoo Preach is pulling to somehow be aging in reverse..? How does he look YOUNGER NOW than he did in the OG live action Legacy Of vids!
How is this stuff not part of British general education?
Yes! More
The table top is fun, but expensive and you need a place near you that has lots of players.
Now I want Preach to watch Bricky's two videos explaining the Factions.
I SO want him to watch this!
40k is my favorite fantasy setting.
Preach! You should watch Bricky's video on 40K, very informative and fun lore on most of the factions!
All hail Loremaster Luetin!
WATCH BRICKY PLZ!! lol
40k is the best. Imagine a universe where everything and everyone sucks and you just pick the faction that who’s suck you like the most
Bricky's Timeline video I'd highly recommend
