We're just in the process of purchasing what appears to be the same mach-e that you have. Your video has been excellent regarding questions to ask. Thanks.
Sounds like you have a warranty issue with your entry into the vehicle. My 22 Premium does not suffer from entry or lagging screen issues. I appreciate the clean info screen. Also, my car is not suffering from the handling and suspension issues that you mentioned. No rattling noise in my Premium.
I put on 235mm tires on it (instead of 225) on the original mags, just because there's more choice of tires. I don't really see much difference about the range. Totally agree with you about the suspension issue on bumpy roads. Love this car a lot (2021 premium awd ER), 50k miles on it now.
I hear you on the service end. My forward track button on the steering wheel stopped working, and when I showed up, I got the feeling that I was a burden more than anything. Part is on order, we shall see what the rest of the experience is like.
This is the first in-depth review of this car I had time to watch and I'm glad I did. This was one of the EV's I wanted until I got a drive of the Ioniq5 and went with it. But I never lost my interest in this car. Thanks for this drop. The information was very helpful to me. All the best.
I've put over 5000Km on a SR RWD Mach-e The suspension, especially in the rear should have gone more VW than tesla for sure. I'm actually a fan of the door handles. My 2 kids, less than 10yo, get in daily without missing a beat from day 1. It's another thing to break is what I'd used to day, but now not a single car has manual window handles. I expect a lot of snow, living in Atlantic Canada, so I've already got winter tires ready to swap. I drove Subaru AWD for the last 10 yrs, so this winter will be interesting. Speaking of the snow, Kudos to ford for using a regular heater, not a heat pump. The heat pump just wouldn't work in the depths of February weather. Gimmie heat, not range. I can't speak too much on the screen, which is a testament to how well they went buttonless. It really is a get in and drive kind of car for the most part. DC fast charging around here is almost a joke. If anyone wants range as a top priority, just get a hybrid, don't bother with the plug in. ALL DC chargers within 200 Km or so of my area top out at 50Kw.
Thanks for sharing! I'm glad the door handles are working great for you. The lock/unlock piece of it has just been regularly unreliable for me, so I could be convinced if it worked more consistently for me. What model year is your Mach-E? Good idea getting the snow tires for your Canada winter. Hope it works out for you with the RWD. Does the Tesla Super Charging access help your fast charging situation in Canada?
I should say one near me is, but I charge AT home so paying extra for the charge is not desirable. The Tesla chargers en route my typical long range drive are not upgraded. The time penalty to take the drive is 20 mins on a 50kw Charger. There are some 100kw chargers, but they are also on a road trip I rarely take. We also have an Escape Hybrid that goes damn near 800km on a tank. The EV just goes home charger to home charger 90% of the time, even when I go over 200km to 300km before I get back home
I own a 2022 Tesla Model 3 and I am not thrilled with the door handles. The car does not require a key, it uses your phone as a key. It does not require a key fob. The entry system works every time, and it opens the car automatically when you approach the car and locks it automatically when you leave. It really works well with the Tesla app on your phone. However, using the door handle is a little awkward. Fortunately, you can just push the door lever on the end in, and it will open the door, so that works pretty well. The unlock and lock system works flawlessly, but you have to get used to the handle. The car also automatically sets the security system when you walk away from the car. This appears to be a good everyday city-driving car, and it looks nice. However, I like the Tesla Model 3 better. Ford's software and UI are behind Tesla's by a very large margin. The touchscreen on the Teslas also is very responsive. It is probably the best touchscreen in the auto industry. The car appears to be very fast, so that works well. As far as ride, my 2022 Model 3 ride is not bouncy, but it is loud. Its suspension is really good, but it is tuned for a sports car, not for comfort. However, the suspension works really well with turns and handling, Many reviewers say it handles as good as a BMW 3 series. I don't quite know what that means because I have never driven a BMW. Overall, the suspension is really good. However, on rough roads, it transmits a lot of sound to the cabin. The new 2024 Model 3 fixes this issue and has much better suspension. I have a small rattle behind my steering wheel, but it is almost inaudible. I also know how to fix it, but I have not had time to mess with it. Other than that, there are no creaks or rattles. It's good that you have wireless Carplay and Android Auto. It should make your driving experience much be better. Tesla has its proprietary UI, which is based on Google Maps, and it is spectacular. My car doesn't have a 360 camera. IHowever, there are seven cameras on the car that give you views on all sides of the car. You do have to change the cabin air filter in the Model 3 every two years or so to prevent any smells from developing. I have never been impressed with Ford service centers. I would not buy a Ford for that reason. I have had Ford dealers lie to me and refuse to fix issues they should address. So far, Tesla is better to work with. A LOT of Tesla's repair costs are very reasonable. I have not found that to be the case with Ford. For example, Tesla will replace both of the radiators on the car for $550.00 plus tax, which is an exceptional deal. They also will provide a key card for $20.00, which is very cheap. You use the key card when you don't have your phone or when you want to add a driver to the car.
Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! That's good to know about the suspension volume. The Mach-E's is quiet, just bouncy, like I mentioned in the video. Definitely agree Tesla has a huge lead on the Mach-E and the industry in terms of the software and UI responsiveness. Allowing CarPlay/Android Audio definitely helps with this (CarPlay is very responsive for me in the Mach-E). I'm glad to hear your experience getting service with Tesla has been good!
That's a great question. Probably for a while. I'm generally really happy with it. I'd like to get as many miles as I can out of it, especially considering the current depreciation.
Blue cruise is really a joke. Ford really dropped the ball on that one. I love my 2024 Premium. But hate blue cruise and did not keep it after the free trial. Also, laggy screen is annoying at times. Again, Ford needs to step up their game with that as well. Overall love daily driving with my Mach-E and I'm happy with my purchase, but there is definitely room for improvement on Ford's part.
You may have seen already, but my full thoughts on BlueCruise (v1.3) here: ruclips.net/video/A_D1zHFTRJU/видео.html When you were using BlueCruise, were you on pre-mapped highway sections where it transitions into hands-free mode? I've had a great experience in the true hands-free mode, especially with the 1.3 update (changes lanes, repositions you in the lane away from large vehicles, etc). The lane-centering only mode where you have to keep your hands on the wheel is pretty limited in features. I still think the $800/year for BlueCruise is a little steep and would probably skip it, mostly because my commute wouldn't benefit from it. A longer regular commute on hands-free BlueCruise would be pretty appealing.
I use my Bluecruise often. I have a 22 Premium and have no issues with Bluecruise. I have traveled to 17 different states and Bluecruise is literally my Co-pilot.
I’ve been thinking more and more about getting an EV even though I’ve always been old school with cars needing gas and such, but the Mach E is pretty sporty looking without it looking too modern or sci-fi ish like the Tesla. I live in NJ so the winters do have me kinda worried with it, I remember you saying in a previous video if it’s a little on a hill it might slide down. Does that still happen? Overall I might end up leasing it since then my mechanical issues aren’t a concern just in case and I can always stay up to date with the tech that roles out in future models!
Yeah, the hill slide down issue is still there, at least with mine. I'm not aware of Ford making any hardware changes in '23 or '24 to address this. I think the best thing you can do is get winter tires, which can be a hassle to get swapped every year. (I used to do this with my old gas Mustang GT). Leasing could be a good option, or if you can find a used Mach-E it probably still has a lot of miles left in it and you'll avoid at least some of the depreciation.
@@studzstudios ugh well I’m hopeful since the top of my driveway is kinda flat it doesn’t have that issue lol or I’ll use wheel chucks like for trailers haha. I think I’d do the lease if the monthly payments aren’t too high so anything wrong with it it’s covered and I can stay up to date with the new tech every few years
I’m coming up on 75,000 miles on my 2021. I don’t hate it, but I don’t care for it either. The Tesla adapter breathes a little bit of life into the car, EA charging is so infuriating. I had PAAK issues really early on, I’ve not had an issue with the entry for a very long time. That said, I will very likely end up selling it and picking up a Model Y.
The horn when you get out of the car annoys me a lot. My wife's Expedition and my daughter's Escape do the same thing. I wish Ford gave us a way to disable that.
Agreed. Especially with the Mach-E, there's speakers under the car to play the EV sounds when the car is driving slowly. Seems like they could make a much nicer chime or at least allow you to disable the horn chirps.
I just purchased a 2023 Premium. It was a Manufacture Buyback with 2,100 miles. I don’t have any concerns with it being a buyback as they gave me a detailed report and it still has 30 months of warranty. The car doesn’t have Blue Cruise, as it seems that I would have to purchase a $800 subscription. Is that your experience? Is it worth $800 a year?
Congrats on the Mach-E. I have a video about this exact topic! ruclips.net/video/A_D1zHFTRJU/видео.html The short summary is my Mach-E came with 3 years of BlueCruise included when I bought mine new in 2022. The $800 question I think will depend on your use case and if you're frequently driving areas where you'll use BlueCruise (commuting / regular roadtrips).
my opinion, blue cruise is not worth $800 a year or $75 a month. its not great, you can be driving along a highway and it cuts off then 1 mile later on the same highway it will turn back on. It's sad really.
@@Annette_Hons It seems like the technology is already active. I can drive and the car does everything that Blue Cruise offers, it just yells at me to put my hands back on the steering wheel.🤣 I guess I would have to pay the subscription so the car won’t yell at me.
Ford dealers are the worst. They know nothing about the mach e and obviously they don’t want to work on them. A HUGE problem for Ford. My 23 mach e prem awd/ext range hasn’t received a software update in 7+ months. The drive mode changes on its own, the audio with car play cannot be heard most of the time, the phone app is useless oh and of course no tesla charging adapter as promised months ago. Should have bought the model y. My lease is 48 months and I can’t wait to move on from ford. The car does drive nice but that’s just not good enough imo.
I used to have the drive mode switching problem, but haven’t had that issue for probably 6+ months. Not sure if a software update addressed that. I’ve also had the CarPlay audio issue recently, I’m not sure if it’s a car or phone iOS issue. Restarting the phone fixes it, but also restarting the car fixes it. The CarPlay screen part of the connection has gotten much better, almost always connects now where it didn’t before, but intermittent on the audio portion. Hoping you get your NACS adapter soon!
You can use your head as antenna to extend the signal of your keyfob. Its not a joke, just try it yourself. Hold the key next to your head and your car will open from much further distance.
Thanks for the suggestion! I've had success with this with other cars. I'll have to try the Mach-E, but it seems like this little "hack" shouldn't be necessary when I'm not that far away. I think the issue in addition to the limited range is it doesn't always consistently respond to commands even when close by like I showed at 8:25: ruclips.net/video/PjwhtUBm8ug/видео.htmlsi=Cr215n0Lu5Imc-mz&t=506
