The screen does allow you to see what’s playing, nav, temp etc all in one. Touch the three lines in the lower left corner. You do not have to exit nav to see all things. You say it so “matter of factory” but that’s not the case. 😂 I love my GT Mach-e!
We did get it to show 3 things at the same time. It's dumb though, sometimes it shows the weather in the bottom left side which I can't figure out how to change it to something I actually care about
Check the owners manual. We love our Mach E GT!
We just got a Mach-E. We like everything about the car except the range. Highway speeds eat away at the range.
I had buyers remorse for a bit. Mostly for the range
But really, 95% of the time it's just fine
It's tough for road trips
@@GearsAndTech It will depend on if my wife can visit her parents on a full charge or not for us. It is around a 180 mile round trip with mostly highway speeds of 75mph. I have already seen on shorts trips how speeds over 65mph eats away at the battery. Really nice car, just wish it was a hybrid.
I knew about cold weather and sensitivity to speed but yeah, the energy use urban to highway has same profile as my Prius. I also find Ford is cautious in mileage calculations compared to others if you watch the Norwegians. Using battery charge and getting used to what it can do over full range of charge. I’ll be ready for Spring road trip. It really looks like I can do 320 km easily at 114 kph at 0C, maybe further but already doing better than Bjorn Nyland does with BEVs. Will be many 150 kW chargers on Spring Road trip route.
@@JackFrost-xy7yleasy, take the mobile charge with you.. plug it in while at her parents… drive home.
No, CarPlay did have it figured out forever now, yes we have multiple tiles in one screen. And yes, with CarPlay you do in fact have turn by turn displaying on your cluster…
Yep. Got it working after I made the video
Using Apple Maps with Apple Carplay does indeed send turn by turn to the secondary screen behind the steering wheel, however,
I think that happened in an update. It for sure didn't work when I tested it
@@GearsAndTech Probably. And Google Maps via CarPlay still doesn’t send direction info to the secondary screen, which would make it seem like Apple is intentionally crippling that when using Google with CarPlay…
Same for Waze in Android Auto. I get turn by turn in the driver screen.
I don't know about then, but Apple Maps syncs with the car to calculate your charge at the end of your navigation.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I found it very useful. I'm in the process of making my first EV purchase. I'm between the Mach E Premium AWD and the Tesla Model Y Performance. Although the Tesla comes out on top on every performance metric (also on price), I still can't get over how minimalistic the interior is and how much cooler the Mustang looks. Anyway, thanks again and keep the great videos coming!
Glad it was helpful!
Pay close attention to the seats. Tesla model y seats were dreadful for me. The butt bolster was too narrow. It pushed on my hips. I didn't notice at first, but in time it gets brutal
@@GearsAndTech That's a great point. I actually test drove both cars and the Mustang felt more comfortable. I noticed it even in the short 10 minute drive I was able to make on both cars.
I just sold a model y as the build quality is shit and I have bought a Mach e Gt
Ford has much better financing incentives as well and as the gent above me states, people complain about Teslas build quality
@@mosessolis3866 yep I’m the uk they are on 0%
It's not a gas peddle, it's an accelerator.
Yeah, I don't know if it'll ever be an accelerator for me
It’s not spelled “peddle”, it’s “pedal”.
fast forward 6 months from this video. my local ford dealer dropped -$5k from the MSRP of the CART1 model to $47k 😅 and 0% APR financing
That's awesome!
Yes they are getting more aggressive with the pricing to keep them selling.
maybe ill wait once their 2nd quarter ends and snag the 4th of July sales 👀
Thanks for taking the time to make the video from your perspective.
My pleasure!
I just got the Mach E Premium AWD with 90 kWh battery. Also put a Level 2 charger in at both ends of my commute. Have a Flo RFD card and have practiced with fast charger.
I find I am doing better than the Norwegians for highway range in cold weather. Not a fan of single pedal having had a Prius way back so have the mental programming to brake for regeneration. Also, I use standard navigation for turn based and then put Apple Maps on for topography and then play Sirius. We’ll see what I do after 3 year Nav subscription expires.
The rest of my experience similar except I put Nokian EV winter tires on stock wheels and got Art Technica wheels for stock all seasons with Mustang caps.
I might investigate the faux grill.
Also looked into tow points, towing and lift points. Decided against carrying a seasonal tire for commute. Will see about carrying spare for Spring long road trip.
Only additional other reason besides fuel savings that helped with vehicle justification is to preserve my mid size deleted diesel truck for acreage utility and back up. Don’t make them anymore and want to extend its utility. Did this for a previous bigger truck (for towing) getting a Fiesta Titanium but decided to go fancier and have some fun with my commute vehicle.
It's a fun car to drive for sure
I made the foux grill. Video is on this channel
Have you had any software updates so far? Heard on other videos that the updates are not done very often, any thoughts?
We have had about 4 software updates in the 6 months we have had it
None of them have changed anything on the user experience side. So not sure what for sure has been changed
I like the navigation to a point. I am traveling on an Expressway. I have many miles to go. The navigation keeps flashing a turn arrow as the road curves.
Depending on the app you use they do that as well.
After 10 months of Mach -E ownership. I have NOT received my FREE Tesla charger adapter.
Wen I am driving. I do not need to read the music that is playing. Reading the music is distracting your view. I need to view my travel directions. I am an very old school driver. AS I approach a red light or see traffic is slowing down. I release the accelerator and coast. Many time I get to the light and it turns green You use so much power to accelerate.
Thanks for sharing
I needed to charge my car at a E. V. Charging station. I charged my car from 13% to 83%, Cost was $35.11. I get about 3 miles to a percentage. roughly that is $0.17 per mile. far more expensive than gas mileage.
Ive heard of reliability issues with the infotainment screen and sometimes the car doesnt start. Do you have any input on that?
I have had one time the screen messed up and caused a lot of issues. But I made a video showing how to fix that yourself
I haven't had any other problems
Battery contacts over heating.
Nice video, I don't understand why you have few views. You will be successful 💪
I appreciate that! I dont know why the views dont stack up on these videos either. The automotive space is a bit harder to break into I guess.
We will keep at it and hopefully things improve
@@GearsAndTech I'm sorry because it takes so much effort and time to make videos like this, but then you don't earn anything
Sorry for my English but I'm Italian!
Why bleep the price?
Prices change every day and are different from state to state or province to province.
Plus, as the video ages the price will change a lot. So the price itself as a number isn't important. What is important is if you can get it at a price that you feel comfortable with.
Hopefully that makes sense
Did I miss the “Avoiding a costly error” part…!?!
Depends, if you like what you saw then you're good to go
If you don't like what you saw, then you would be avoiding a costly error
But I guarantee you, your wife’s Mercedes had fake leather also… Even most Mercedes nowadays have fake leather. They call it MBTex.
Her mercedes was older. It was real leather. Most cars only have real leather on the seat tops though. The sides are usually vinyl. No matter vehicle you're in.
NOBODY EVER says......But can you dim OR turn blue or purple that blinding white screen....I could not even drive around the block with that distraction.........On My 24' Forester touring I have the screen turned to dark blue and it is not the least bit distracting............The bright white screen would make the car a no-go for Me......Paul
You have the ability to turn it into dark mode which makes the screen black
You can dim it, you can select dark mode, but I have the briggt mode which automatically dims when it gets dark in the evening or in tunnels. Works perfectly, and actually better than the smaller screen in our Outback.
I'd like to see a comparison to the Nissan Ariya.
I'll see what I can do for you.
There are a lot more options coming to the table
Unfortunately many of them are just compliance cars, and not anything special
I rest like the ioniqu. But I can never even spell it right and decided I trust Ford more for a first Gen electric car over someone else.
Hey Taz while we wait for Gears and Tech to weigh in with his own opinion (nice video BTW!) I'll chime in here as I have both a 2023 MME (CR1 trim) and also a 2023 Ariya (Engage trim), main differences to me are: MME has a stiff ride and tight handling, feels more like a sports car. Ariya is more "floaty" with relaxed handling, feels more like a luxury sedan. Ariya sits up a couple inches higher and has a slightly larger cabin, MME sacrifices a couple inches in the cabin to give you a frunk (which the Ariya lacks). MME wants you to do most things on its touchscreen, Ariya has more real buttons. MME is cheaper to buy in the USA because of the tax credit, Ariya is cheaper to lease in USA since Nissan has some nice promos here to make up for its tax disadvantage.
I've had my Mach E GT Performance edition for around 3 months now coming out of a Porsche Macan turbo. I miss the quality of the Porsche but the GT is shockingly fast. Ford's "Ford Pass" app sucks and the customer service is garbage, the car itself is quite fun but I would only get the GT performance edition, that being said the range is terrible and quite disappointing, It would never ever be my only car at this point. The car is quite pricey for what it is and with technology changing so rapidly, I would only lease one as bigger better is right around the corner. 7 out of 10 overall. (Turbo Macan was a solid 9 out of 10) Tesla charging stations are right around the corner for Ford so that will help a bit.
Excellent Points. I agree
This thing has promise but I'll take my plug-in hybrid (Hyundai Tucson PHEV) over these middling EVs until they get them a bit more dialed in. The charging network for EVs is also lackluster at best in New England, especially Northern New England. Even where there are the rare high-speed chargers, oftentimes half of the chargers are dead. Tucson has real leather and better infotainment as well with a Bose stereo system. Highway range is a big concern with most EVs, and my PHEV essentially is an EV for anything but long highway driving. I can do over 30 miles at 75 mph on the interstate on battery only. Or if I don't want to charge I can just drive in hybrid mode. Best of both worlds with the PHEVs, especially for those who only occasionally do longer trips outside of the limited PHEV EV range.
Yes, those fill a gap that many people need
Seems insane to me to pay double or triple the price of a Chevy bolt. The bolt is quick, fully optioned, packed with tech, and a 270 mile range.
Charge speed is a non issue 99.9 percent of the time for most people with level 2 home charging.
AWD would be the only reason I suppose.
But double or triple the price???
It's an interesting option
Our non negotiable requirement was that it be awd.
As soon as you go awd the price starts to go up a lot.
Cargo space. I’ve got teenagers in sports. I can’t fit it all in the bolt.
It is double the car, Lad.....................Paul
Bolt looks pretty bad
@@AriWilson don't buy one
Why can't you say the price you bought it for?
I Beleive I got a good deal
But many others will fill the same. Prices change all the time
@@GearsAndTech I'm considering one and am from Canada and would appreciate knowing how much you paid as it is now many months later and there are still many 2023 available and would like to know how far I could push the price.
Apple Maps does show turn by turn on the cluster display.
Ah, I don't use apple maps. I like to get where I'm going
Carplay doesn't display waze on the dashboard.
It seems you did like the car in the end? And this "vegan leather" - some people are actually vegan, like me and it's important to us. I personally would not buy a car with animal skin, no matter how good the offer is. And, I don't think charging extra for the animal skin is a thing everywhere, in Porsche Taycan, where I live, I'd need to pay 4.5$k for animal-free interior. I know it's Porsche, but still.
Leather is still more expensive
But I'm glad there are finally options that are available for everyone
I have a golf cart with one pedal stop 😬😬
Yes, if you've driven a golf cart you know how it feels
So you are dissing Apple CarPlay but you didn’t test Apple CarPlay at least not in this video and you didn’t test it using Apple Maps. Not everyone uses Waze.
My wife has an iPhone. So I had already tested it with her phone
spending $800 a month on fuel.. You must drive 24/7... I don't believe him!
Do your math, and you will understand me..
Gas is expensive in Canada, and we use premium fuel in the Mercedes.
6 tanks of gas a month at about $140 per tank.
Youre right! Do the math
Gas is 1.85 where I live. My commute is roughly 35 mins each way. I have a 2021 Outback Premier XT and I spent just under $600 on gas last month. Many people have longer commutes. He's not joking when he says he spends $800. Lots of people pay even more. I am in the market for a Mach E because I'm tired of throwing away money on gas.
And we thought the Mustang II was ugly. This thing is hideous. It's a frumpy, bulbous SUV with an ugly screen stuck to the dash as an afterthought. It's the perfect vehicle for people who wear Crocs.
Lol, I don't wear crocs, but I do wear flip flops as much as possible
I don't think it's as nice looking as the hyundai, but it's way better than the tesla
@@GearsAndTechthey look soooo much better in person. I used to hate them. Now we own on, its one of the best cars we’ve had. Fun as hell, cheap to drive
My county where I live have no ethanol added to the fuel!!! .no EV chargers hmmm No titty bars , no weed dispensaries',, no malls .. nearest charger is 80 miles from my house hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm we are Anti EV a sign when you enter our county NO EV CHARGERS HERE .. with a skull and cross bones
Sounds delightful
Pretty good video. I was going to subscribe until you decided not to say the price. Dick move
The price is so all over the map if I said the price others would chime in and say how much cheaper they got theirs, or how much more theirs is
It depends on region and season so much
@@GearsAndTech Of course more people would reply with their price differences, that’s the point. No such thing as too much information. Plus the RUclips algorithm likes it when more people comment
Dude. If you don’t like the car, why did you buy it. You’re a first-class complainer.
I don't like Ford. But I like the mache
