Nice upgrade with the tire carrier, there are many different ways to go. This one is similar to the Aries Tire Cartier too, and I like that this is a little more budget friendly because u can easily spend $1000 or more!!! Jeep looks great Bro, thx for another functional video....and by the way thx for adding the lifting of the tire, haha, we all know how heavy those damn things are!!!
You're gonna be so happy you went with a tailgate mounted carrier, I have the DV8 swing out one for my 37s and damn I dread having to open that and then the tailgate just to get into the trunk, may be switching to something tailgate mounted or just run no spare here soon lol

I purchased this tire carrier based on your recommendation, the price point and the ease of installation as seen in the video. The finish was good however the tire carrier needed modification to fit properly. The Chinese manufacturer failed to finish grind the welds which prohibited the hinges from swinging fully so out came my grinder and the bed liner paint. Secondly, the third brake light bracket holes were misaligned and needed to be redrilled. I am undecided if I would recommend this carrier.
When you lift the tire yell light weight, it helps.

Use 2 shims in opposite directions to support the gate. You can slide them in or out to fine tune their height, plus it give you a larger contact area. When I installed my carrier, I blocked both sides of the gate before loosening the hinge bolts to make sure it didn't move.

I installed one similar and the tailgate checkstrap started popping and came out of the mount. I've been told I need a heavy duty check strap for a 33" tire. I have a 2013 with a subwoofer in the back. What do you suggest?

Does the tire rest against the carrier or tub to prevent vibration or rattling on the trail? You need to avoid excess tire movement to prevent stress on the tub itself.
