Been running the teraflex since 2014 with a 35 mounted on it and no issues at all. The thing is a beast. Best to just spend the money the first time and done.
It would be nice to see a new version of this video. This video is great & that's why I say this. There have been newer versions of some of the carriers in the video like the TeraFlex that would be nice to see them side by side. I agree that there's isn't anything on the market that is better then the TeraFlex imo & it's what we plan to run on our JL but just want to see another side by side brake down this in depth.
I have the Smittybuilt oversize tire carrier on my JK. It doesn't have any form of hinge reinforcement, but it does help distribute the weight of the tire across more space on the door. I've had a 35 x 12.5 tire mounted on it for over a year now with no problems. I still would like to get a hinge reinforcement eventually.
the bumper mounted hold much more weight, AEV has it so you open the tail gate and tire carrier in one motion. Also has a spare gas option that holds 10 gallons of gas in a nice tight package. In my opinion it is the best period on the market so far. We have the AEV on both our jeeps. :)
Good video, great information. That said, the carbon steel hinges on the Barricade are actually going to be STRONGER than the aluminum hinges on the Teraflex and Rugged Ridge, in addition they don't need brass inserts because steel-on-steel actually wears a lot better than aluminum-on-aluminum.
I'm running the Rugged Ridge and like it. Not sure if an extra inch of downward adjustability would be worth it. Thinking about a backup camera anyway.
We like the look of both the Barricade and TearraFlex, great video my friend and I hope y'all have a blessed weekend. Keep the fun videos coming out sir. Dale
I wish spartacus tire carrier had threaded holes or someway to mount antenna brakets to it. I currentyl have my cb radio antenna bracket attached to the tailgate hinge assembly held down by that 13 millimeter bolt
im a fan of the teraflex carrier, had one on my sahara and loved it enough to put one on my rubicon, simple install, all have pros and cons, there r others that would be nice but brrak the bank, most of the ones ive seen that r bumper tire carrier combo I either like bumper but not carrier or other way around
Put a Rugged Ridge spare tire carrier on my 2016 JK. I works well and closes fine--all torqued to spec--except it doesn't line up with the back door latch as perfectly as it did stock. Anyone have a similar issue with this or other tire carriers? thanks
With the teraflex one could someone with a few simple wrenches just disconnect the tube slider and steal that part of the carrier and your over sized wheel and tire? Basically making putting lock lugs on it pointless..??
Can you haul a moderate load trailer with any of these? My JK already has a hitch. Is there one without a hitch that won’t make the one I already have ineffective
Unless it is stated in the product description, most bumpers that come with pre-installed trailer hitches are not rated for towing. I'd recommend looking into a bumper that either *does* have a tow-rated receiver, or has a cut-out to use your factory hitch! Usually once you get into the 35" tire size range and up is when to start thinking about upgrading whether it's the hinges or to a body mounted carrier. Your main indicator will be finding issues with closing or operating the tailgate. Especially having to lift it to close it.

I recently bought the teraflex carrier and HD hinge kit. Came nicely packaged, well built . Love the look and operation. Thanks.
Thanks for purchasing, Ed! -Zach

i run the tereflex with 33, 35, 37, and now 40s. no issues.

My only concern about the steel-on-steel would be the eventual rusting issues.

Unfortunately none of these options upgrade or bolster the real weak link ... the body structure to which the hinges bolt in the first place.
Clearly they do.
Surprised that the Smittybilt Pivot HD Tire Carrier didn’t make the list.
Lol you can spend more than the Jeep cost original if you keep adding TeraFlex upgrades.

Can you please post a link for the front and rear fenders for the jeep thats behind your during your presentation? Thank you in advance.
The metalcloak tire carrier is the be all end all of carriers... but it'll cost you

DV8 has a high quality carrier.
I just ordered a bumper carrier. Why did you wait till today?!
Great video thanks for posting!
Rugged Ridge logo on carrier looks extremely cheezy.
The Smittybilt should be also considered. It's top notch.
Teraflex is the best?? I guess you've never tested evo manufacturers carrier.
What options to the above for the TJ's - Thanks
Steven Davis Yup...?
Will this eliminate all that rattling when going over bumps.
Do a 1987 Jeep Rubicon.
Rugged ridge lost my sale ,for the lack of up and down tire adjustment .
How tall are you? I'm trying to get the idea of the lifts the jeeps got
What company makes a heavy duty slanted oversized slanted tire carrier for a 2020 JL Unlimited Sahara?
Do you have a link for that inner spare tire 3rd brake light bracket? Looks way better there than above the tire.
How does a 40" tire mount search bring me to this -_-
What similar options do you have for the YJ that doesn't use a bumper mounted swing carrier?
Which brand tire mount is good for in 99 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Will this get rid of the rattle noise?

Don’t know what you need to tow but I’m pretty sure that the smittybilt xrc gen 2 is rated for towing
TeraFlex

How can I tell if my tires are too big/heavy for the factory mounted tire carrier?

@@extremeterrain thank you
The Teraflex carrier is the original and best. All others are just imitations.
