  • 165 candidates enter, two thirds of them will not complete the course. Swimming, rucking, running, obstacle courses - just a few of the things an aspiring army ranger will face the moment they step off the bus at the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program or RASP.
If students make it through the initial screening process, they are divided into platoons and given command structure. They must then pass weapons training, simulated tactical events, and worst of all, the mental strain of being constantly exhausted and demoralized.
What few students remain at the end of the course must command themselves through simulated battle scenarios with instructors filling the role of opposing forces. They hike through treacherous terrain in freezing temperatures, cross water using night vision goggles, and battle lack of sleep, encroaching hypothermia, and injuries to successfully defeat the instructors and make the long journey home.
The students forge an inseparable bond and as one final trial, they must critique each other. These critiques can make or break a student’s chances of graduating the course. A final test by the instructors to know these rangers can put their emotions aside and get the job done.

For these reasons, it's why people who go around with stolen valour, need to be publicly shamed, since they go round publicly honouring themselves. it's so offensive to me...

Thank you for mentioning the peer critique portion. Most people don’t realize but getting “peered out “ is actually a big ender of peoples

Knew a kid who failed due to the critiquing part. Other guys didn’t like him so they pretty much voted him out. It’s gotta hurt to go all the way through and get nut punched like that.

You’re confusing RASP with elements of ranger school. There is no force on force training in RASP. There’s also no mountains either, unless you consider cardiac hill a mountain

I think you're confusing RASP with the Ranger leadership course. RASP is strictly for the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment which is a SOF unit and a member of the USSOCOM. Whereas the Ranger leadership course is a program to train leadership. If you graduate the Ranger leadership course then you earn the Ranger "Tab" . If you graduate from RASP then you have earned the 75th Ranger Regiment's "Ranger Scroll". "Sua Sponte" <2> ☀️⚡⭐

All that tough training and I only had to run my ass off in combat and that's after smoking a pack of cigarrettes.
