I do realize that this is all very subjective, and I probably should have preceded everything by saying that this was all just in my opinion. Disagreement can lead to great discussion though, so if you feel differently about any of these conferences I encourage you to tell everyone why (and not just say, "You're stupid, [company]'s conference stunk!" as I'm seeing a lot right now, haha).
I would probably know if you are planing on doing this if I had one of your social media platforms, but I don't... so I was just hoping you are reviewing or making some sort of video on Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2. I'd love to get your opinion on it. :)
This video summed up my feelings for this year's E3. It was okay and honestly pretty high quality as far as E3s go, but there was just nothing memorable to look back to or even make memes out of or anything.
Nothing memorable? We got 3 new KH3 trailers and the release date. RE2 Remake was finally shown off, Tales of Vesperia PS3 version was announced to be coming to America on all consoles, Devil May Cry 5 announcement, and so much more.
I forgot what your channel was called because RUclips unsubscribed me (thanks RUclips), so I looked up Nintendo cookie monster, and this was my first result, lol.
This is how it works nowadays. Nintendo does well in E3: Oh Nintendo is the best company ever! Nintendo does not do well in E3: Oh you expected too much! Nintendo has other stuff to do other than E3. I think we all expect something from each conference. But saying we expected too much is just a way to cover that Nintendo didn't do well this year.
Two AAA titles. Smash was focused on for half of the direct. Not everyone is interested in Smash, so I expected them to move on or give Smash at least 10 minutes in the direct if they really wanted to. I'm excited for Fire Emblem Three Houses and some Mario Party. However they barely showed only 2 minutes of each of these AAA titles so that was disappointing. The rest of the direct was not good. They have another announced title that we barely got any context to called Daemon Machina. We got Xenoblade 2 DLC (which is not a new game). There were highlights of random games and thats about it. Overall only three AAA titles out of the entire direct. Nintendo's E3 presentation is on the same level as Sony's E3 presentation which means it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. Microsoft and Bethesda did the best in terms of games, hype, and variety. This is all just my opinion. "No company is perfect, and people need to learn this" When Nintendo does not do well, we got the "no company is perfect" excuse. This is similar to the point I made above.
One thing everyone seems to forget from the Nintendo conference was that they had a lot of surprise instant releases. Hollow Knight, Fortnite, Paladins, Octo Expansion all release during E3 and I really like that kind of surprise. The only other conference that did that was Bethesda and that was for Fallout Shelter on the Switch.
Hollow Knight is something that a ton of people are interested in. It's gotten awards and recognition for being one of the best indies of 2017 (other than Cuphead). If you haven't heard or played Hollow Knight yet, then you definitely should
It IS special. Fortnite got 2 million downloads in one day. Leaks and data-mining ruined the surprise, but it's still a big deal. As is Fighterz for that matter, another game that got leaked.
I was initially very dissapointed by Nintendo, but looking back at it retrospectively, their direct was actually very good. It had a huge smash unveiling, fire emblem, that new mech game, a new Mario party that honestly looks extremely good to me, and decent support from both third parties and Indies, imo. The only thing that was missing from it was a super huge, Metroid prime 4 esque surprise, imo.
Yeah, I'm not even a huge Metroid fan, but even I was surprised they didn't touch upon Prime 4 at all. I mean there's plenty of time with their other directs to do it so I guess its not that big a deal.
The problem with a Metroid Prime 4 reveal is that the devs have barely started on full production and thus have very little to show. This is why keeping up with news outside of E3 reports is important.
While I personally think Nintendo's E3 was the best overall solely for Smash exceeding all of my expectations (seriously, no other E3 made me scream in excitement as much as Smash did), I can certainly understand why people would dislike the lack of other announcements. I'm sure they could've fit in more. Even taking Bethesda's approach of short cinematic teasers for games in development would've been enough.
I can't be the only one who thinks that a lot of people straight writing off Daemon X Machina is pretty unfair, no? It has several big names behind it, it's a brand new IP exclusive to Switch. At least a nod to the fact that showed up would be nice.
Nuvendil That game was the coolest part the show in my opinion. The artstyle is gorgeous, it appeared to be 60fps, and the gameplay looked fast and frentic.
It's segment just looked questionable imo. All I saw was robots shooting, and all I heard was death metal that was abruptly cut off at the end. It looks shallow, and poorly put together from the trailer bit we saw.
Honestly, I just think it was really weirdly placed. The trailer really wasn’t something that should have started the direct, and once that was done, we got like no info on it, so it just kind of ignored. It could be great, but I think it suffered from the awkward pacing the direct had.
Nuvendil that game looks so cool. I'm excited to pick it up and the devs making it are too notch. Yusuke san is alos leading charecter art. Very cool stuff
jvhx711 It got a treehouse demonstration later on, it certainly isn't shallow. The mechs are fully customizable, you have a custom avatar that can actually also fight and perform actions outside the mech, a hangar hub where you can do all that customization, co-op multiplayer, and a wide range of weapons.
coolguys2001 A lot of the smaller stuff excited me, and I'm a big Smash boi But I completely get why people are disappointed. I myself was not though, so I see it as a high.
The only thing Nintendo was missing was a Metroid prime 4 esque huge surprise. Everything else was there imo. Strong first party support with decent support from third parties and Indies. Nintendo did great. The main issue was that a lot of the presentation was rapid fire. Dragon Ball was barely even shown.
Arlo, I’d just like to point out that I think you are the only YT channel that after having watched as many of your videos as I can, I’ve found that there is not one single video that I haven’t loved. You’re such a pleasure to watch and I can’t wait to see you continue on into the distant future, I love everything you’re doing - you lovable fuzzy guy.
For me the best conferences were *Nintendo* and *Microsoft* because of all the hype I got from them. -For the *Nintendo* one it's really subjective, I'm a big smash fan, so seeing a new smash + R-I-D-L-E-Y in smash was really something (they won for me). - The *microsoft* one was good, I'm not really interested in xbox games but seeing games like battletoads or cyberpunk really excited me. -In third place *bethesda* because of the new elder scrolls ( I'm talking obviously about the one on the phone). -The games at *sony* were good but oh my god I found it boring. -*Square Enix* was.... nothing new ? -Then *ubisoft* , wich I don't remember so... yeah. -And *EA* wich I'm trying to forget...
Perhaps Sony's wouldn't have been as boring if they didn't show the same games they showed in 2016 and 2017. Especially Spider-Man. E3 is all about surprises and Sony lacked. And if Microsoft can't get credit for announcing multiplats, Sony can't get credit for the RE2 remake and that was Sony's turning point to what could have been a bad E3. They also had the guts to advertise TETRIS at E3 but people don't want to bring that up. Wasn't even an exclusive announcement either. The Tetris trailer was already out days before Sony's showcase so idk why they bothered.
I agree with this list pretty much the same opinion maybe I would put sony higher cause the games look incredible while the showing was horrible but the games like Spiderman and death stranding are really exicting
Ocalino The fact that you're a Smash Bros fan, you assume Nintendo did the best when they're other games to try out.... I'm not gonna question it.... It's always Smash this Smash that...
Objectively Microsoft's was probably best because it was game after game for two hours with little to no bullshit or bad stuff. But subjectively Nintendo was best, because I don't care much about most of the games shown for XBOX and Nintendo has *SMASH*
In smashboards we celebrating this Nintendo E3 and saying that they won it, but being honest that's just for the hardcore smash fans, everyone else expecting their Pikmin 4's, Anal Crossing, Prime 4 and the like didn't get much of it. A bit of a shame since they had a great E3 and the momentum was strong.
Lowest point of EAs conference: watching a legendary franchise become reduced to a clash of clans ripoff ... and having them dwell on it longer than anything else.
I mean honestly if you were expecting Waluigi you were setting yourself up for disappointment. We just got two Mario reps last smash and Waluigi is only liked ironically and for memes. He’s really not necessary.
I'll say one High of E3 and Low of E3: 1 High: Fallout 76. Xboxs E3s had so much good trailers, but I had to pick One Trailer. I love Fallout, but The way they presented it, Was Great. MAJOR LOW: EA FIFA 19. That, was the WORST E3 moment EVER. Why? Three words: BATTLE. ROYALE. MODE. c'mon EA!
Two requests for you Arlo: 1. Please do videos about Nindies. The best ones. The worst ones. In-depth reviews. You do some of the best game reviews on youtube and I'd love to see your take on more of these games like Hollow Knight, 9 Parchments, Steamworld Dig, Oxenfree, Shovel Knight, and the rest. I follow a few channels that focus more on these "little" games, but I'd love to see your take on them. 2. Are we still getting a Breath of the Wild review? I know you did the first impressions vid, and the DLC review. But a full, huge in-depth review of the entire game like you did with Odyssey would be amazing. I watched your 3 big Odyssey review videos after I got well into the endgame, and it made my experience all the more enjoyable (except the motion controls, of course ;) ) Now that I've beaten BOTW as well, I'd love to see your take on the game as a whole, from start to finish. Thanks!
They should just ditch E3 as a concept. No more conferences with live performances and long boring talks that don't relate to video games. Every company should mimic what Nintendo is doing and make a pre-recorded video of game reveals. What should stay are the treehouse style live-streams, and the show floor demos. E3 should be a celebration of why we love video games, not some company bragging about how successful they are.
That's a horrible idea. The whole point of E3 is games and announcements but its also a time to get gamers hyped. What better way to do that then with a stage show? With awesome effects, amazing orchestras, and some amazing heart with the various developers? I really dislike how Nintendo has let that go, and has went for monotonous directs rather than putting people like Miyamoto or Anouma on stage, who live for the crowd. I mean one of Nintendo's best E3s was in 2011, because of all the hype and excitement surrounding them. I mean look at this: ruclips.net/video/4FWqG7AUntM/видео.html
Seeing game announcements gets people hyped, not music performances. Developers can talk their heart out about the games they make in an after-show live-stream.
People come to see games yeah. But Nintendo directs imo, are usually boring. It's because they've had so many directs, that E3 Nintendo just feels like them making another direct and thats it. No one gives a shit about the after show and people know it.
E3 is never over, there is 1) E3 event then comes 2) Discussing this years E3 event then 3) Speculating next E3 event. Its a constant phenomenon that starts when you are born and ends when you are dead. 3E's, 3 days, 3 stages. For3ver
Because Nintendo is usually known for family-friendly looking, colorful worlds with lovable characters, and Daemon X Machina is as far as that as it can be. It's Action-oriented. Fast-paced. Gritty and Bleak. *Obviously isn't trying to look like another Splatoon or Arms!*
Honestly, everyone I was watching with agreed it looked very plain (I mean... those environments were VERY lame and empty). I personally think it gives the impression of a late-gen, Japan-only PS2 game. This game doesn't appeal at all to people like me (which I think is at least somewhat majoritarian).
Me neither. Putting hype aside, Smash Ultimate is literally just another fighting game, whereas DXM is a long-overdue Mecha game that isn't Gundam. It hurts seeing people lose interest in the genre over these bogus Battle Royale shooters and Fantasy-esque worlds.
Nintendo did state that this year E3 would focus on Smash and games coming this fiscal year so I didn't expect Metroid, Bayonetta, ect I did expect Yoshi then seen was delayed so wasn't a big deal. I enjoyed Nintendo's show more than Sony but in terms of presentation Microsoft won and this is coming from a guy who only buys exclusives on my Xbox.
My in-depth thoughts and rankings: 1. Nintendo. Yes, speaking objectively, their lineup was one of the more lacking among the various publishers this year, but... fuckin' Smash Bros, man. Beyond even that, though, I'm super jazzed about Three Houses even though I've never played a Fire Emblem game before, Mario Party is officially joining Mario Tennis in the "Hey look guys, we officially don't suck anymore" camp, the Treehouse showcase finally convinced me that Let's Go Pikachu is indeed a must-buy, Fortnite on Switch is a huuuge deal even if it's probably not a game for me, and Deamon X Machinalooks like the greatest game either Shinji Mikami or Platinum never made. 2. Bethesda. Just knowing that Doom Eternal is coming rivals Smash Bros. Ultimate as far as things that get me excited go, but arguably unlike Nintendo, the rest of the conference more than pulled its own weight. I'm divided on Fallout 76 being always-online, but everything else about it looks stellar; meanwhile, you still have the pleasant surprise that is Rage 2, some seriously awesome-looking DLC for Prey, a very reasonable facsimile of The Elder Scrolls on mobile, and some tantalizing teases for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Starfield, and The Elder Scrolls VI. (Also, "Ready to Die" might just be in the list of my top ten favorite songs ever, so that Andrew W.K. concert at the beginning actually made me really happy.) 3. Microsoft. Halo Infinite, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Jump Force, Devil May Cry V, Forza Horizons 4 (I'm as surprised at my enthusiasm for that one as you probably are), Kingdom Hearts III, Cuphead DLC, some seriously good leveraging of GamePass, Battletoads, Metro: Exodus, Captain Spirit, Dying Light 2, three goddamn Gears of War games at once (none of which I'll probably play, but imagining how excited the Gears fans must be right now just makes me smile inside), and closing out the show with the bombshell that is Cyberpunk. Just... mmmm. It may be my personal number three, but the overwhelming consensus that their show was the best of E3 is well-fucking-deserved. 4. Sony. Kind of bizarre how similar their showcase and Nintendo's turned out; what games both of them showed off ranged from great- to out-and-out-incredible-looking, and yet both shows still came across as oddly half-hearted, as if Sony and Nintendo both only participated in E3 at all out of a sense of obligation. None of which takes away from how phenomenal The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, Resident Evil 2, and Spider-Man look (and the "711" bit at the end of the Trover Saves the Universe trailer justifies that game's existence all on its own). 5. Ubisoft. You know you just had a good E3 when a conference this damn good can still reasonably be allotted the number five slot. A few of their games (particularly The Division 2) ended up dragging the show down for me rather than making it stronger, but they more than made up for it; the new Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer singlehandedly assuaged most of my worries about a game that I was already sold on based on the strength of its previous trailer, Skull & Bones is sure to scratch any pirate itch that Sea of Thieves may have left unsatisfied, the reveal of Fox in Starlink was one of the most welcome surprises out of all the games announced this E3, Assassin's Creed Odyssey aping Mass Effect is a an excellent direction to take a series built around the draw of exploring and feeling like you're living in historical locales, Donkey Kong Adventure is looking to be everything I could have wished for, and Grant Kirkhope's live stage show remains just the greatest fucking thing to ever exist. 6. Square Enix. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is sure to be merely "great" at the very worst, and it's nice to see Just Cause 4 working to rectify the many shortcomings of its predecessor, but while they had a fair few other promising games, new information regarding those games was scant to none. Out of all the press conferences, this is the one I most could have skipped without it affecting my E3 experience. Which is still better than can be said about... 7. EA, because a short and pointless E3 show is still wayyy way preferable to a long, miserable, _and_ pointless E3 show. Unravel Two and Sea of Solitude were the only bright spots here; the rest was either tossed-off filler (e.g. their sports games and, bafflingly enough, Anthem), good-looking games that they simply refused to show us rather than just talk about (Battlefield V and the horrendously-titled Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order), or just straight-up bad (I took a little sojourn to the Command and Conquer subreddit following the press conference and, sure enough, it was the exact opposite of what the Gears subreddit must have looked like after the Microsoft show. It's really hard not to feel for those guys right now). I'm not even being sarcastic, I'm almost left wondering whether EA deliberately put on a bad show just to stand out from the other conferences somehow; I don't think I've ever seen a company have so many big games to show off but outright refuse to make a concerted effort to actually _sell_ us on any of them. Square and EA aside, though, this E3 is rivaled only by last year's as far as being perhaps the best I've ever experienced go. Sure, not everyone brought their A game (including my pick for number one, even)... but I'd say almost everyone brought at least their B+ game. (Note: Devolver Digital not included among these rankings by virtue of being too pure for this sinful Earth.)
Microsoft doesn't even put any exclusive games on their plattform. I am suprised people are still supporting them when they could get a PC which has exclusives, looks better and in long term is far cheaper.
I feel like this whole video was a way for Arlo to present yet bury his disappointment with Nintendo’s E3 this year. And that’s brilliant, I 100% agree with the points he made about that show.
I'm a Mario Party hardcore (oh god that sounds weird) and the fact that they made a new one in the classic style made me soooooo happy! Some people are dissapointed about stars being only 10 coins, but the thing is you get only 5 coins now from minigames. When you think about it, a star is still worth two minigames. I feel that the shortage of coins will make item resource and use a lot more challenging, making it very strategic.
I'm a Big Xbox Fan and was really excited to finally see a reveal of a new Halo Game. and Look Forward trying out New Games close to the End of the Year, and 2019
Kinda gotta disagree wtih you about the "reveal" part. Not only was last E3 more heavily focused on revealing new titles (Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Star Allies (as much as i personally didn't care for the game all that much), Pokémon for the switch, the new Yoshi game, a port of Rocket League and finally Metriod: Samus Returns), but it's not like there were few game reveals this year either. Daemon X Mecha, confirmation that Fire Emblem Switch was still a thing after 450 days of radio silence, Mario Party, Fortnite (yes) and yes, Smash. Sure, there was also a lot of stuff we already knew about, but i wouldn't say there was "nothing" for the usual ninty fan. Think of it like this, Nintendo has around 13 different first party franchises they're juggling with. You can't reveal a new Mario or Zelda or Donkey Kong game every year.
Nintendo's stock dropped because of the out cry of dissapointed fans. I knew half the direct was going to be smash focus so i kept my exspectations low for suprise reveals. Xbox did very good because nobody thought that they will have anything to show, so they showed off the multi platform game first to get mass apeal from general audiences. Nintendo fans should stop acting like children and judging the presentation with unrealistic exspectations. Fight me
Sloth 702 stock holders aren't fans they don't feel hype or anything like that. They look at facts. If they see that the company who's job is to make games only announcing two or three mayor games their faith in the company's success this year will obviously decrease.
That's not how the stock market works. Actually everyones stocks fell and it is because of e3. Most investors want security and new announcements are risks.
Gotta admit: I thought it was pretty good! (Nintendo in particular). They did great! The disappointment that stood out for me was that the octo expansion date didn’t release the first day. And that Fortnite came to switch. I hate Fortnite. Apart from that, Nintendo did great!
Being disappointed that a game you're not interested in is coming to a platform it would be stupid for it not to be on and that does not in any way divert Nintendo's resources from any of the other projects they're working on has got to be one of the most ridiculous E3 reactions I've read this week.
Nintendo's 2017 was awesome. Nintendo's 2018 was bad. Nintendo's 2019 - Awesome, by showing MP4 and revealing a lot of stuff? Bad, by only showing MP4, like this year? We expect them to do one of those. So they won't even have a show next year.
Cyan_ Metroid doesn't have the fanbase support and hype to support an entire E3 Direct. Don't get me wrong, me and a lot of people are looking forward to it, but it isn't as overwhelmingly popular as Smash. Still, even though I love Smash, this direct was kinda subpar. No Bayonetta 3, no Animal Crossing, no Pikmin 4, not even a tease for SMT 5.
Pokémon usually doesn't get shown at E3, and between Bayonetta, Yoshi and MP4, Metroid is the most popular, so out of all the games we have announced right now, it is the most likely to have a game-specific E3. They'll probably just reveal AC. But since we expect them to reveal AC, they won't. But now we expect they won't, so they aren't even working on it. Also, 2018 wasn't terrible, it was just for the sake of the joke.( It wasn't good either) And what does SMT 5 stand for? Searched it on google, but didn't find anything.
I know this is very personal to me but I was over the moon to learn that Hollow Knight was FINALLY on Switch. I'd been waiting months so to finally get it was extremely satisfying.
That Xenoblade 2 DLC is so big and meaty it's basically a game unto itself. And since I'm a huge Smash/Xenoblade fan and don't really care much about Animal Crossing/Pikmin/Metroid, I'm very pleased with what was announced.
I feel like a lot of companies and their E3 conferences would have been perceived a lot better if they didn't reveal so many things in the weeks leading up to E3 and just waited for the actual conferences.
Eh.. yeah. E3 was not quite what I expected either. You pretty much summed it up. But... STAR FOX ON SWITCH! Great video, as always! Hope you are right about next year.
Wow, Arlo, this week you took more advantage of E3 than Nintendo did. Way to put together a lot of good content quickly. Practically a faster blue fur-ball than Sonic the Hedgehog.
If you are interested in smash but didn't watch the treehouse, I DEFINITELY recommend watching the invitational tournament. The singles matches were some of the best I've ever seen.
I think next years E3 will be good. They can talk more about the next Pokémon, and possibly reveal more about metroid. Along with some other potential announcements we dont know about yet.
The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC is slightly more important than you give it credit for. The corresponding gameplay segment in the Treehouse informed us, at the start of it, that it's basically got as much as an entire game JUST in the story DLC package, and it's part of a larger season pass with a large amount of content for the original game AND that costs literally half the price of a game. There's a reason it's the first Nintendo season pass DLC code to be sold at retail inside boxes the same size and shape as an entire new game, instead of on a card the size and shape of an eShop card.
In terms of "wow" moments, Starlink Fox reveal was probably my favorite surprise in E3 with the "Everyone Is Here" announcement with Smash probably being 2nd. The ES6 announcement I might have liked better if they had shown something more substantial, but it didn't really have anything much to go from. In all, I feel like Bethesda and Ubisoft probably did the best for their overall shows.
I'm just happy that my three favorite franchises (Smash, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem) are getting new games in the next 12 months. Plus I can't stop playing Octo Expansion and Mario Tennis Aces releases soon.
Arlo, I agree with your opinions.
Arlo it was basically a shorter version of the 2 previous e3 2018 videos
8:38 What game is that?
I would probably know if you are planing on doing this if I had one of your social media platforms, but I don't... so I was just hoping you are reviewing or making some sort of video on Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2. I'd love to get your opinion on it. :)
It kind of sucks that in current year if you don't say "my opinion" you're somehow stating a fact.
Waluigi is too big to be in smash
damn
We have to make him shorter
HiS pRoPoRtIoNs ArE tOo CoMpLiCaTeD!11!111!
Nah he will just be god tier
Waluigi is too tall to be in Smash*
This video summed up my feelings for this year's E3. It was okay and honestly pretty high quality as far as E3s go, but there was just nothing memorable to look back to or even make memes out of or anything.
Nicolle but that Madden player at ea does that count as meme material
theprojectofgamers chasing money
Nothing memorable? We got 3 new KH3 trailers and the release date. RE2 Remake was finally shown off, Tales of Vesperia PS3 version was announced to be coming to America on all consoles, Devil May Cry 5 announcement, and so much more.
gamerprince1999 Weird how opinions work, right?
The quality of an e3 is always judged by its meme potential
I forgot what your channel was called because RUclips unsubscribed me (thanks RUclips), so I looked up Nintendo cookie monster, and this was my first result, lol.
Hope for the best, expect the worst. This seems to get thrown out the window when E3 season comes.
But people can't make themselves expect the worst. People expect what they expect.
As well as "No game, no hype"
It's "Expect the worst, hope for the best. That way you'll never be disappointed."
"No company is perfect, and people need to learn this"
When Nintendo does not do well, we got the "no company is perfect" excuse. This is similar to the point I made above.
Me : Arlo, I only have one thing to say about this E3.
Arlo: NO, please don't say it! I don't want to know it!
Me: Yeah, but Solid Snake.
Cyan_ HES BACK BABY
So much arlo recently
Don't worry there can never be too much arlo
Jack Misha - Unlike Smash, of course.
Subsonic Sparkle no way that game looked SOOOO GOOOOOD I WANT IT AND I WANT IT NOOOOOWWWWW
Jack Misha I'll never forget arlo. even if I don't watch him his creepy cookie monster rip off puppet will still appear in my nightmares
I think you might just be the only person I've seen who dislikes Arlo.
Obi-Wan Kenobi wow that's kinda mean
One thing everyone seems to forget from the Nintendo conference was that they had a lot of surprise instant releases. Hollow Knight, Fortnite, Paladins, Octo Expansion all release during E3 and I really like that kind of surprise. The only other conference that did that was Bethesda and that was for Fallout Shelter on the Switch.
Katie i know.
So cool to drop 3 big names all in the same time.
Props to nintendo.
EA did it for Unravel 2.
bethesda also released prey mooncrash as soon as it got revealed.
HeavyDonkeyKong Mario party has online!!!
Would've been a good time to bring a Metroid reveal too, what with Ridley's addition to Smash.
Yeah, I'm not even a huge Metroid fan, but even I was surprised they didn't touch upon Prime 4 at all. I mean there's plenty of time with their other directs to do it so I guess its not that big a deal.
Yeah it would've nice to reveal at least one cool title that's coming late 2019 or something but still a great direct overall
The problem with a Metroid Prime 4 reveal is that the devs have barely started on full production and thus have very little to show. This is why keeping up with news outside of E3 reports is important.
Honestly E3 felt average this year
4 Arlo videos in the same week? I’m being spoiled!
Sleep: Microsoft was the high point of E3 2018
Woke: Devolver Digital was the high point of E3 2018.
Maybe next year, boys, maybe next year
Mr. Boppin boys and girls! We're disappointed with e3 2018 too! D:
Mr. Boppin or maybe a Nintendo Direct around september-november, Who knows?
Next year will be great. Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, the new Pokémon, a possible Animal Cross- fuck, that's exactly what we expected this year
I’d expect some sort of announcement before next year. Look out for a direct in September or October. Heck, may be even as early as August.
I think they realised how overshadowing Smash would be, so they set aside all their other blockbusters for next year instead.
Arlo, your conversational delivery in your videos makes even your long videos easy to watch! Looking forward to more!
arblo is my dad
R u my bro?
Are you blue?
ray2op He definitely has dad tastes.
ray2op and The Arlo Fan Community, hello brothers
also, lets make Waluigi in smash
www.change.org/p/nintendo-add-waluigi-to-smash-bros-switch
I saw twelve new videos in my sub feed just now, but as always, Arlo’s new vid is my first go-to.
Highs: Nintendo, Microsoft, Bethesda
Lows: EA, Square Enix's lack of content, NO WALUIGI
Epic Maniac Naw, Nintendo was a low
I prefer Waluigi as an assist trophy. Same with bomberman. I hope shovel Knight becomes one too.
Knuckles being an assist disappoints me tho.
coolguys2001 A lot of the smaller stuff excited me, and I'm a big Smash boi
But I completely get why people are disappointed.
Where is Sony and Ubisoft in the list lol
Arlo, I’d just like to point out that I think you are the only YT channel that after having watched as many of your videos as I can, I’ve found that there is not one single video that I haven’t loved. You’re such a pleasure to watch and I can’t wait to see you continue on into the distant future, I love everything you’re doing - you lovable fuzzy guy.
This man needs rest
Honestly I didn't like this E3 very much.
LinkToDestiny ew
Ya, definitely a weird one
Arlo always makes me see the good when I thought there was little to none. Thanks!
E3: It's ass and gold at the same time
Edit: fuck i actually got noticed
Sounds about right
Gold Bender: "Bite my glorious golden ass!"
You really deserve more subscribers. I was surprised to see the number
Your being sarcastic right?
Arlo please, I can’t handle all these uploads, it’s the arlo equivalent of an e3 with odyssey, botw, mp4, and Pikmin 4
Jose Betancourt u put Anal Crossing ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
No NEVER expect ANY of those. Those are too early in development, or are still working things out
Watched the full video before commenting like a good person. Nice video. I agree with all of your points, and you worded it beautifully. Thanks Arlo.
4 whole Arlos this week
That’s a good thing
Lowest point of EAs conference: watching a legendary franchise become reduced to a clash of clans ripoff ... and having them dwell on it longer than anything else.
Kingdom Hearts 3 did have a new trailer at SE presents, however it was mixed in with the Frozen trailer
Nick Drake Kingdom Hearts 3 also had a Pirates Trailer at Sony’s conference.
That ending joke was priceless
And even if you’re a huge Smash fan, it can still be a bit of a disappointment solely because of Waluigi
The Arlo Fan Community why is he such a wanted character for smash. I’m fine with him as he is.
The Arlo Fan Community Well, the game isn’t released yet, so hope still strives on
I much prefer Ridley or another character ( please Bandana Dee)
I mean honestly if you were expecting Waluigi you were setting yourself up for disappointment. We just got two Mario reps last smash and Waluigi is only liked ironically and for memes. He’s really not necessary.
Sequitur Pretty much. I’d like to see him in Smash for ironic purposes
I freaking LOVE your channel, Arlo!!!!!
They showed some new sceene for kh3 in the se show
Sinom Yeah, but not enough to make a difference to casual fans.
ajmrowland actually not enough for anyone. They should have shown the pirates trailer at se and a third (maybe big hero 6) world at sony's

When it comes to intendo I was expecting a lot more
Senateboi i wasn't
Thanks for saving us several hours sitting through E3.
ROYALE. MODE. c'mon EA!
What's wrong with battle Royale? I've never really played that genre.
DK, it's over used.
YourBoy Luke ah, okay. I could honestly understand that.
They put Battle Royal in a football game? I tune out when they talk about sports games.
PMG, yup it's dumb
Two requests for you Arlo:
I watched your 3 big Odyssey review videos after I got well into the endgame, and it made my experience all the more enjoyable (except the motion controls, of course ;) )
Now that I've beaten BOTW as well, I'd love to see your take on the game as a whole, from start to finish.
That is a great idea :D nintendo directs are usually better anyways in terms of my interests
LOL,e3 2011 was the reveal of the Wii U,which confused everybody into believing that the Wii U was a add on
Seeing game announcements gets people hyped, not music performances.
For3ver
Arlo
Buddy
Mario Party wasn't the only unannounced new game
Did you forget about Daemon x Machina? Why is everyone sleeping on this game.
Just because you personally weren't wowed by it doesn't mean you can pretend Nintendo didn't show it.
It was a pretty mysterious trailer and was not first party
ร Raw Rua
From that last direct, it was shown to be first party
The staggering amounts of arlo content during e3
I'm really not liking how Daemon X Machina keeps getting ignored.
Me neither.
Putting hype aside, Smash Ultimate is literally just another fighting game, whereas DXM is a long-overdue Mecha game that isn't Gundam.
It hurts seeing people lose interest in the genre over these bogus Battle Royale shooters and Fantasy-esque worlds.
Nintendo completely banked on getting the entire Smash Bros community to migrate to the Switch. They really should have had more teasers at least.
Your description of this e3 is perfect description on how I felt about it this year .😁👌😢
My in-depth thoughts and rankings:
(Also, "Ready to Die" might just be in the list of my top ten favorite songs ever, so that Andrew W.K. concert at the beginning actually made me really happy.)
Thank you for at least mentioning Devolver!
The E3 with super mario odyssey was the HYPEST e3 I have ever EVER experienced, I don't know if I will ever experience an E3 like that again.
Next year Microsoft and Sony will surely present their next-gen systems, so Nintendo will need a big show to keep the Switch alive.
Retro Cabeza I think Nintendo planned a quiet year.
Sony seems to want to extend PS4 until 2020, at least.
No. Xbox one is still so new and I don't even have a switch yet.
Daemon x machina is also first party I think.
It's exclusive, but afaik, is Platinum games who makes it.
Well at this point platinum is virtualy first party for nintendo
Daemon x Machina is not being made by Platinum Games, it's being made by Marvellous Entertainment.
If we vote for Waluigi on the smash ballot I'm sure they can make him cheat his way out of assist trophy
Love you, Arlo.
Wait, there were other conferences? I’m still seeing Smash in my field of vision everywhere I go.
I'm a Big Xbox Fan and was really excited to finally see a reveal of a new Halo Game. and Look Forward trying out New Games close to the End of the Year, and 2019
Like if Ronaldo is the GOAT
Tony Min
That volley was amazing, Portugal defiantly have a chance to win the WC with him
Tony Min That's still messi.
Arlo you are the man.. I wanna be like you when I grow up. You pretty much said point for point what I was thinking the whole time.
You're exactly right :D
I'm a big Smash fan and I'm super happy with this E3
Sloth 702 when Nintendo fans would say, “No Smash?” After every direct. Now that was unrealistic and annoying.
Xbox did very good because they had a million games to show, unlike Nintendo.
I mean, is asking for Animal Crossing (last one was 6 years ago) and Pikmin (said was almost finished. In 2016.) really that unrealistic?
That's not how the stock market works. Actually everyones stocks fell and it is because of e3. Most investors want security and new announcements are risks.
You the best guy ever made
All I needed was Pokemon and Smash at Nintendo. and that's what I got. :)
All i needed was Metroid 4, zelda links awakening or ocarina remaster and F-zero. I did not get what i wanted :(
all I need is Pokemon, Smash and a great Mario game, but I wouldn't mind some other awesome games like Metroid, F Zero etc.
an Arlo returns !
Gotta admit: I thought it was pretty good! (Nintendo in particular). They did great! The disappointment that stood out for me was that the octo expansion date didn’t release the first day. And that Fortnite came to switch. I hate Fortnite. Apart from that, Nintendo did great!
How can it be a disappointment that a game is coming to the Switch at all?
You don't have to play it, you know?
Being disappointed that a game you're not interested in is coming to a platform it would be stupid for it not to be on and that does not in any way divert Nintendo's resources from any of the other projects they're working on has got to be one of the most ridiculous E3 reactions I've read this week.
I always keep my expectations low for E3. It helps deal with the pain.
I'm not sure they're gonna do a lot of MP4 next year. They've got Pokemon 8th gen for that. MP4 might even go to 2020.
Cyan_ 2018 wasnt bad. Its was ok
Also, 2018 wasn't terrible, it was just for the sake of the joke.( It wasn't good either)
And what does SMT 5 stand for? Searched it on google, but didn't find anything.
Cyan_
Shin Megami Tensei
Nintendo Treehouse was absolute Torture.
You Nintendo fans are Ungrateful, may I remind you of e3 2010
Kyle Parks Such a good year 😄
Kyle Parks 2008?
Finally, someone who liked the Ubisoft presentation.
As a wolf main in brawl I'm happy to see him back
For every show there was only really One or Two that I might even consider Buying
I know this is very personal to me but I was over the moon to learn that Hollow Knight was FINALLY on Switch. I'd been waiting months so to finally get it was extremely satisfying.
Devolver was the best presentation to be fair. It was hilarious and had Metal. Wolf. Chaos.
Love u arlo glad to see u talking about more than nintendo i love it!
great recap Arlo.
I subscribed
Arlo: We know you all came here for one thing.
Arlo Viewers: ARLO!!!
An alliterative Arlo is absolutely amazing ain't it?
YES!!! ARLO SHOWED THE CUPHEAD DLC IN THE BEGINNING! YAHH!!!
I’d just like to point out that there’s a four month gap between Aces and Super Mario Party.
Oh no! The way arlo says banter hurts
Let's not forget that they actually made Skyrim for Alexa into a real thing.
I think next years E3 will be good. They can talk more about the next Pokémon, and possibly reveal more about metroid. Along with some other potential announcements we dont know about yet.
I watched E3 to see Smash, got Doom Eternal and RE2 along the way, and was definitely not disappointed.
You can actually get the Alexa version of Skyrim
It's real
I'm not kidding
You forgot about TUNIC, thats an exclusive too. Good video i always enjoy these reviews of gaming presentations
I'm sure if they had Pikmin 4, Arlo would be singing Nintendo's name from mountaintops
I love ya, Arlo. :)
I'm just happy that my three favorite franchises (Smash, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem) are getting new games in the next 12 months. Plus I can't stop playing Octo Expansion and Mario Tennis Aces releases soon.
Octo expansion though, it's surprisingly really really good and we got an out of nowhere release
