I Took World History and a course of English Literature in High School over 56 years ago. So I was familiar with Churchill, Beowulf,Geoffrey Chaucer Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe George Barnard Shaw, James Joyce, General Montgomery, Thomas Moore, King John and the Magna Carter, Jane Austin, the Bronte sisters , George Eliot and many others ie John Wesley., William Wiburforce, William Penn Shelley, Lord Byron, Keats, Mary Shelley ,George Orwell, C.S. Lewis, John Bunyan, Charles Dickens. Famous scientists, Francis Bacon,Isaac Newton,Findley, Faraday, Priestly are just some old school scientists from English history. Do people in Great Britain take high school courses that include USA History and and American literature. Someone remembering Eisenhower, Gen.Marshall or the Marshall plan and the dropping of food to Germany would be nice. John Paul Jones came from Scotland. Our Navy greatly appreciates this gift of a man. Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald, Edgar Allen Poe, EE Cummings, Walt Whitman, Edith Wharton are some USA contributions to literature. Eli Whitney inventor, Edison Inventor, Alexander Graham Bell inventor, Benjamin Franklin, inventor, author, statesman but preferred the French to the English. Some other famous people besides the least that was spoken of in this video. How about George Washington Carver and Fredrick Douglas writers, statesmen and educators. So many more of the last 50 years that were working during my life time after my high school ended. I will add a immigrant to USA Irving Berlin who wrote Over There" God Bless America he aptly described my country from sea to shining sea. There are purple mountains, there are lands that are flat and are golden with harvest, the are mountains that are green and birds sing and streams murmur and there are oceans that are white with foam, there are humming birds, and theaters, too many lights and prairies, lakes and fields of wheat, corn, pumpkins growing and great trees and tumbling weeds. Hot winds and big canyons, hot waters that spew a hundred feet high. Board walks and canyons made out of sky scrapers and ice and cold winds. When you come do not hang around the cities and do not go to tourist traps. Go to little towns, to the Midwest, to the west . Walk the many paths. Stop at the fields and waterfalls. Look for the old homespun ways. Learn of the pioneers and the strong women who endured loneliness and nursed and brought up their families.

America has a similar variety, because we are a nation of immigrants (voluntary & kidnapped both), except for the Amerindians. The reason the US is a dominant force in the world goes back the the Bretton Woods agreement at the end of WWII. The Americans were the only world-class economy left standing. Yes, because of the wars started by the USA. In Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya. The Iraq War gave rise to IS, which also led to war in Syria. Germany was not in any of these wars, but bears the greatest burden through mass immigration from these countries.
So you watch TV and you go to the tourist places... great. No mention of how huge the gap is between rich and poor here. No mention of people working two jobs living paycheck to paycheck. Just a bunch of stereotypes about the U.S. being rich and loud. Try going where the tourists don't go, you may have a totally different experience.

I've been in just about every American state. Traveled lots in America. Now, I'm ready to go abroad. To the UK first. So, I"m very interested in what they think. Yes, America is huge. The majority of Americans do not like Donald Trump. He did not win the popular vote. I don't see cultures being that different from one state to the other. Rural America is different from urban America. Rural America is usually Republican and conservative, urban America is usually Democrat and liberal. I think we are all very upset about the great divide that has happened in our country over Republicans vs Democrats. Most Americans are in the center, however and we can't seem to get back to that. Biden is at least in the center. I wish the Senate and House would start working together. I hurts that we are so divided. Yes, obesity is an epidemic here. A real problem. Portions are very large in restaurants. What I and many people do is eat half of their meal and take the rest home for another day. You really get two meals in one. But those who think they can eat it all or do eat it all are probably at risk for obesity. We are always assessing ourselves and criticizing ourselves and protesting about things. So...I think we are much harsher on ourselves than any other country would be. I agree with many of the criticisms of America in this video.
Wrong. Half of America likes Trump. And at this point in time in 2024, polls are showing it's even more than that. Brits and the rest of the world don't get to vote here, so who cares what they think? They are also only spoon-fed liberal garbage by liberal sources, just like in the US. Biden is NOT in the center. He has gone down a liberal rabbit hole trying to please folks who don't even like him much. At least when Trump was president, we could afford to buy groceries and household items. But you are right about the divide between rural and urban America. Totally different values usually, so totally different politics.
I visited Britain 1 year ago and I thinkk the people looked down thier noses at Americans a lot, but I was not impressed at all by my visit with the people and the country.
Becasue the US is way better thats why i have been all over the USA.Its an amazing country and so vast.Everyone knows it and a lot of Brits are just jelouse.
I don't like America, either. But don't take it personally, I don't like most countries at the moment, or at least most of the people within them. Fools, bigots, selfish, and easily manipulated people, lead by billionaires to vote against their own interests, let alone to vote for hurting other peoples. And the US specifically is hyper capitalistic and overly commercialized, and built for cars, not people in many places. Far too lax on guns. Call themselves the freest country, without irony, but have more people locked up, per capita, than any other country. And working rights there are abysmal. Not all Americans are bad people though. I feel sorry for the good ones. And all that said, I wouldn't mind, but the US is like a giant claw extending out of the ground and grabbing away, and planting bits of itself in other places too. Which I don't like (our high streets full of US commercial businesses), but I blame our own useless government as much as the US.
I been in England. I don't like England I was from USA . Y'all have everything so small . My ideal is just stay in my country . Y'all beautiful people but uk is not for me . I like Ireland more
America? The continent? Where in America? United States? United States is not America, it is in America. Reminder... America is not a country is a continent with many countries in it. @Hillr2249 I knew a girl when I was in the 9th grade (age 14) who had never been outside the city we were in, and had no interest in visiting other places. Amazing back then, although I would think this is rarer these days.
@@stephanledford9792 yes. It's good to travel. Teaches you how others live. You don't become stagnet. It's still happening
@@Hillr2249 My dad worked overseas, so my perspective is different from many Americans because I not only visited other countries but lived in two different countries for a while. One thing you realize fairly quickly is that despite cultural and language differences, people are pretty much people no matter their race, culture or language.

Thanks...
Would love to see some of it , l think most of the people are good folks ,but drugs and guns are the down fall .
I THINK IT IS TERRIBLE HOW MUCH ISLAM IS IN
THE UK AND EU
Yes, because of the wars started by the USA. In Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya.
The Iraq War gave rise to IS, which also led to war in Syria. Germany was not in any of these wars, but bears the greatest burden through mass immigration from these countries.
America is extra! :)
Come to WV. You’ll love it here😈
LOL ppl are obsessed with American culture but they just don't wanna admit it LOL
We argue then think we can buy are selfs out of it
So you watch TV and you go to the tourist places... great. No mention of how huge the gap is between rich and poor here. No mention of people working two jobs living paycheck to paycheck. Just a bunch of stereotypes about the U.S. being rich and loud. Try going where the tourists don't go, you may have a totally different experience.
Don’t spend too much so you don’t have to work two jobs.

wow
Trump is way better than the British people.
Totally different values usually, so totally different politics.
yea obese is a beast :D
indeed i made a typo there, my bad!
Didn’t we save yall in world war 2 🥱 guess they forgot that one ☝🏼
Why not speak to actual British people 😂
I visited Britain 1 year ago and I thinkk the people looked down thier noses at Americans a lot, but I was not impressed at all by my visit with the people and the country.
Becasue the US is way better thats why i have been all over the USA.Its an amazing country and so vast.Everyone knows it and a lot of Brits are just jelouse.
@@andrewbarrett42where are you from?

But US not just stole the land, but also the name America. America starts in Canada and ends in Patagonia Argentina... When are people going to get it? If you say US people? Use their nations name United Statesians.
@Commander2008 Being indoctrinated does not exempt ignorance. None? Most people call US people as Estadounidense, translation... United Statesians. Just a matter of time. Now you heard ut, you know it, later will become a custome to call United Statsias and not Americans, dump and arrogant practice. By the way.... US not just stole the name America, but also murdered over 100 Million indigenas to steal the name too.
I find it astonishing that fully grown adults bother themselves with such semantics. This is on top of the fact that most geographic scholars agree that the there are two continents that make up “the Americas”- North America and South America.
@@jacksoncowsert6964 Conviniently and stratigicaly. Regardless wether scholars agree or not, facts are facts..
@@wahrheitgerechtigkeit2175 You didn’t provide an actual rebuttal. I explain why you were incorrect and you basically just said “facts are facts” That proves nothing 💀
The continent, not the country, the continent was named America 300 years long before United States stole the land. It was named by a German map maker named Martin Walseemuller, NOT!!!!! for the exclusive right of US, because US did not exist then. America is a continent with many countries, all American, with Native American blood and the US founders did not have Native American blood or heritage to be American. Hope that clearafy your indoctrination and ignorance.
