The fact that there's been a dead child stuffed inside it should probably be a turn off

I love how they said “Bro your characters are too creepy” and Scott just went BINGO
Reminds of the early days of Red vs Blue. Someone reviewed it saying it was like Office Space mixed with Troopers, as a negative. And the creators thought "that's an awesome quote to promote the show!".
He never gave up! He my hero
Bingo got them you wont get tired of my voice will you
Jim Sterling is actually the one who said that in his review of Chipper's Lumber Co. Thank god for him.

That’s what gradually happened to me after Security Breach released
@@rossbob4215 same!
Like a jumpscare!!?!!?!? Epic fnaf nights at freddy's reference!!!!!!! 😱😱😱
Security Breach did that to me, well, more like it reminded me of how interested in the lore I was and began my plunge back into lore untangling
11:03 Fun Fact: Golden Freddy was originally called just Yellow Bear, but since he was dubbed by Markiplier and the rest of the community as Golden Freddy, that name stuck and Scott just went with it.
13:34 Also, Marionette is the official name. However, since Dawko and the rest of the community call it the Puppet, that name works too.
Yeah but phone guy literally calls it the puppet
i really like how nearly every time markiplier is shown it's just him crying.
I died when he showed the vr gameplay with mark crying and I was like "THAT DOESENT MAKE ANG SENSE WTF?"
And THE BITE OF 87
@@Boomstick___ I think that was a separate clip of him crying, he was watching a fan made tribute of his dad i believe

Yes.
Not really a coincidence. Ls mark just kinda stole the entire format of a smaller creator (Sagan hawkes) and passed it off as his own ☹️
Nah you would be richer than scrooge mcduck himself
I always say that jumpscares are not scary, just surprising. Anything that screams in your ears out of nowhere while surprise you.
As I often call cheap horror
Fnaf has always been based off of uncanny Valley and startling rather them scary take the withereds for example why are they so unsettling? Because they look like it could barely even get up let alone walk chase and kill you all while completely destroyed and not even caring I mean they have arms faces costume parts all ripped off they are far from functional and yet their desire to kill is powerful enough to make them do the impossible
No one said jumpscares were scary their whole purpose is to relieve your tension
@@redrox3312 But there has to be tension first right? 9/10 games throw them at you when there's clearly no reason to.
@@galloviking4766 there is tension. Its the unnerving feeling knowing that they’re slowly coming towards you. Then it comes to a stop when they jumpscare. Plus how else is the round supposed to end? just say “game over” when the power’s out? Thats not how horror games work
Imagine being one of the people that told Scott his characters were creepy and subsequently launching his entire career
"I raised that boy"
Boii ... That guy has to be either ashamed or in such big of disbelief he got knocked out.
Hes probably inside a spring lock suit rn
One of them was jim sterling I belive

I see you have the snatcher on your profile picture.
Blackberrythefox I was about to compliment him on it

I love how everyone says jumpscares aren't scary. And then there's me, who shits himself the second I hear something fall in the room next to me.
The game is about the atmosphere not the jumpscares.
@@N.I.A23 I agree! But some people claim that the atmosphere doesn't really matter because "it's just jumpscares" at the end, like that isn't enough to terrify some people in and of itself.
For me, the tension of having something jump out of nowhere and scream in my face is enough to really stress me out.
I can't wait for the inevitable "FNAF Security Breach was pretty disappointing".
EDIT: called it
I actually liked the game… calling it super buggy would be an understatement though
What about dlc?
Edit: I know I'm late, but he liked. I don't know what rating he gave.
The reason Scott keeps releasing new games is because he just wants to get to Fnaf 57 to make that one joke.

I still love how this series started off as just trying to find out why the animatronics attacked you, and now we have malware that's taken on its programmer's serial killer tendencies as the main villain.
A supernatural malware that's managed to escape the VR game and has taken over (but not completely), the body of that player which kind of reminds me of The Evil Within 1 when Ruvik managed to escape STEM through Leslie's body, except this time, it's a mix of supernatural and computer technology elements and the possessed individual is now a serial killer with a costume similar to something you would see in the movie "You're Next," and this possessed person still has a conscience left but is unable to completely control her body and mind. This is why Vanny is also called the "Reluctant Follower."

You know what would be great? If after the jumpscares happen, you enter a stage where directional button prompts appear on the screen for you to struggle free while the animatronic screeches, shakes you and bears it's horrifying mechanical insides at you.
With each night, the prompt sequences would become faster with less time between each prompt appearing, and go on for longer overall. That... would be pretty cool and generate some legitimate tension.
You could even have it so specific parts of the animatronic lurch out at you that you almost have to dodge with the button prompts, and if you don't, you get a grizzly first person death animation.
To be honest this game scared the shit out of me when I was around 8 to 10 years old when it was first released being a generally very easily startled person not to mention seeing a malfunctioning animatronic at a Chuck E. Cheese certainly didn’t help so I can easily see why someone would genuinely be scared or frightened of this series and it does annoy me a little bit but people get made fun of for genuinely being scared of it.
Honestly, the voice acting in this series slaps
Pizzeria Simulators last speech was too good
It's top tier. It finally gave character and personality to the animatronics.
“The darkest pit of hell has opened to swallow you whole.”
BON BON G-GO GET HIM
"It's only now that I understand the depth and depravity of this... creature, this monster that I unwillingly helped to create."
I feel like the jumpscares of these games aren't really meant as a "payoff", but more as a punishment. They aren't there to heighten the tension or upping the scary atmosphere, because when they appear it's just the end -- you're dead. You failed.
On the contrary, the jumpscares actually release tension. They release you from playing the game, you are no longer against the clock, there are no more animatronics to look for.
The jumpscares also almost never appears unexpectedly, you almost always know when you've failed before you actually get the jumpscare; either by the doors and lights not working or the hoarse breathing close to you when you are looking at the cameras, when BB is able to get in your room, or when springtrap is just staring at you from outside your door, telling you that you are almost certainly doomed and a jumpscare awaits the moment you put down your camera. You are always at the mercy of the clock so there may be a part of you that hopes the clock will turn to 6am in time, which is probably the highest possible moment of tension in the games. And then it sucks even more to have that loud noise happen and an animatronic jump at you and startle you. So I don't really think they were ever meant to be scary, necessarily. They are an annoying punishment for failing the game. An incentive to do what you can to win te game so you don't have to experience it at all.
Side note, I also thinks it's funny that dying and having a jumpscare releases the tension and boots you back to the main menu, but winning just boots you straight to the next night, not letting you relish in winning for more than like 10 seconds before it wants you to keep going.
Jump scares are used as tension release in movies as well, since the extended experience of watching a horror movie basically means you’ll become numb to the fear eventually. Even people who aren’t scared of jump scares (or even those who are, like me) often laugh at them, which also resets the system. This makes them very effective reboots for starting the night over fresh, as you stated. It’s actually pretty clever!
Ok 👌🏻
It's not scary it just makes you mad
this is something people dont take into account enough; you dont have jumpscares, you hate unneeded jumpscares. a spooky lady doing a scream with no warning isnt horror. thats not interesting, thats not *terrifying*, thats just loud and startling. but when youre deep into the film or game and youre really paying attention and youre already nervous and then it happens? its exhilarating, its punitive, its a great release of tension and its a great warning for things to come.
Bro...
I cant believe nobody noticed that little detail of him starting in the office but getting pulled by Freddy to Parts and Services
Nice touch instant sub
Love how throughout the whole retrospective you get taken by Freddy, dragged through an hallway, put in the backroom and [Redacted] as you calmly explain your view on the fnaf games.
I hate it when people act like Scott is just milking the franchise.
A lot of the money he makes goes to charity, he actually made a free game for MatPat to play so he can donate money to charity, plus the first five games only costed $7.99 (except for one which costed $5), and how about after FNaF 5? Pizzeria Simulator, free. Ultimate Custom Night, free. World, FREE. Pretty sure the highest price a FNaF game has ever been was Help Wanted with it being $19.99, maybe Security Breach will beat that but he is now working with another studio so it’d be understandable.
Edit: I don’t get people who think they’re right about everything and think other people should dislike and like whatever they think should be disliked or liked, all people have their own opinions, so don’t act like everyone should have the same as yours.

I don’t think people give Scott Cawthon his due credit. These games were coded, developed, and thought out by ONE guy! Yes he did have his sons and Clickteam to help, but this really is Scott’s series. I feel like people don’t pay attention to the lore either, it’s cool if you like or dislike it, but I feel like it needs more attention, it may be a little convoluted, but it has some of the best horror and sci-if elements I’ve ever seen in storytelling. I think one of the most interesting things about this franchise is not the sheer depth and complexity of the lore but just how ambiguous the lore is to begin with, so much is just left to interpretation and as a result every FNaF timeline video I've watched each has their own take on the order and meaning of the timeline's events
I will never forgive Scott for the time he tried to gaslight his fan base into thinking there was actually something in the box we "just didn't find it yet" then when he got called out by people who actually dug into the game sorce code and found nothing, he pretended to commit suicide.

@Cheeky (Szèmtelen Mano) excuse me, WHAT
Some of the things I love about fnaf is the lore, theories, mystery, backstory, fear, and especially the creepyness that resembles our childhood (chuck e cheese)
When fnaf first came out, I was six and a year or two later my classmates played it. I did not share their fnaf phase, because I spent absolutely no time on the internet until ten years old and couldn't speak English, since it's not my mother language.
But I *do* have a fnaf phase now!
I never felt Scott was milking his franchise, it's just the only franchise he worked on and it didn't require multi-years to work on a new title. But he still had his personal values in quality. When FNAF World came out he realized how much of big mistake he made out of it, issued refunds, made the game free, and then proceeded to fix it. Later on he realized Pizzaria simulator for free. He's had many chances to get a movie done that though would be subpar he'd make a ton of money from it but refused and held on to his principles. When a toy company that was bringing in him some profit not only released toys that spoiled his game but was very shoddily made, he took away their licenses.
Personally I've felt... What is the best game of the 2010s? Witcher 3? Undertale? GTAV? Personally I feel it's FNAF, maybe the gameplay isn't your thing I get it. But this single person standing up against bigger companies and sticking true to his principles while owning his intellectual property is an inspiration to game developers everywhere. It shows you can still make it big with your franchise without giving up on your principles or worse losing your IP to these big companies.
If that's not amazing, then I don't know what is.
You are 100% correct. As a fan who has been with the series from the beginning, and really getting to know Scott as a person over the years, you can tell he has never ever "milked" the franchise. When toy company's reached out to him sometime in 2015, he was extremely excited, and it really bled into the community at the time. I think comments about Scott like this, only really happen because he's just very down to earth and honest. Most people like to think someone is always thinking about pushing out new titles and gaining the dough, but that really wasn't the case with Scott. He has always enjoyed making games, it's clearly his passion.
Scott didn’t remove Funko’s license.
word
Yeah, Scott really focus on quality and a good guy in general. Even tho i would'nt call it the best game, its still a good game and i love it.
None of that has to do with the game, respectable yes but your reasoning is just baffling to me
The fact that this an hour long tells me that it took a month.
Also regarding Steve in Smash. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if FNAF got anything from a Mii Costume to a Spirit Event in Smash.
this is gonna age well I bet.
That would be bruh
As a fighter I can't really see it but I'd definitely be down for a Mii costume or just even hats I'd put a Fazbear on my mii
If Freddy Fazbear gets revealed for Smash tomorrow as a Mii costume I will go back to this video and make a new comment on it
I have idea for a Fnaf Smash spirit event myself! :D
I like how this entire series would’ve ended in 2015 if the 3rd game didn’t have a shit jumpscare
We could’ve had a perfect trilogy if fnaf 3 had good jumpscares. Fnaf 3 could’ve ended the series before 4 ruined everything
Going back to old playthroughs, I noticed that a lot of people thought Chica was a boy. (Which makes it weirder that people jumped on making nsfw of Chica as soon as they learned she was a she) I honestly think part of the reason Toy Chica looks like that is to make her look more traditionally like a girl. And I guess they saw how people responded, so kept using it as a base for other Chicas.
Finally, a review that doesn’t just blindly hate on the games and actually gives constructive criticism.
Just remember kids:
Scott Cawthon's net worth is over 60 million dollars almost entirely off this one franchise.
(gonna need a source for that claim but) it's crazy to think about how successful he's become, especially when thinking of where he started. It's totally deserved though, he's a genuinely great game developer (and person in general), the amount of fan service he does is immaculate and it's pretty clear money wasn't the main goal of the series.
@@dousc7579 He almost had 60 million before Sister Location came up so...
@@deathcon6261 again, going to need a source for that but also again, totally deserved, he's a great guy who not only genuinely cares about his fans but it's also pretty clear he's not in it for the money
@@ayeayeayeeee he's made plenty free games, and even refunded and updated one of them because he wasn't happy with it. Plus the majority of the games are a handful of change (with the exception of the *ahem*, VR GAME). He could've easily made them more expensive, made way more games and just not have released so many for free. Plus there's fazbear Fanverse which is basically paying the fanbase back in the biggest way he could
Good for him
I remember during the FNAF3 buildup, there was a lot of hype surrounding the possibility of it being an open world game. Tons of fakes started circulating, and there was some *potent* disappointment at launch because of those expectations.
I het the impression from Scott that this series is something he legitimately loves doing
2014: fnaf is cool and innovative
2020: fnaf is still cool and is now vr and you can find the animatronics in your house during quarantine from your phone
@Gabriel Mota The Undertale fandom doesn't even compare to the toxicity that was the Homestuck fandom, so at least he has a somewhat less volatile fanbase now.
@Gabriel Mota The creator of Undertale, Toby Fox, is the co-creator of Homestuck hehe, sorry for not specifying
@Gabriel Mota
Minecraft
FNAF
Undertale
Cuphead
Among Us
The 5 indie games the grew to big of a fanbase
@Gabriel Mota I mean more that they became so overexposed that people started to hate them just like FNAF, Undertale, and Cuphead
@Gabriel Mota I guess? To be honest it’s more that just people started hating Minecraft because of how popular it got, as for Among Us, it only recently got popular so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens
Fun Fact!:
William Afton's reflection in the end of Sister Location is actually a silhouette of Rick Astley.
He rickroll'd us.

I remember back in fifth grade, elementary school, a huge majority of the boys in my school were into fnaf and one third graded boy would even try to scare me with it, because I was the only girl in my class and the easy one to get frightened. However, as I grew older and went into Middle School, I became less afraid of it after my sister showed me some kawaii looking fan art. I guess that is what prompt me to be a fnaf fan as I drew these characters a lot of times. ESPECIALLY pictures Foxy and Mangle. I mean, this was not r34 levels of Foxy and Mangle fanart because I was still a kid back then and was too afraid to draw all that saucy stuff, but let's just say my fan art remains hidden in the "nobody should see ever" portfolio.
49:36 That genuinely jumpscared me!
the fnaf 6 final cutscene is still the most badass thing ever
i remember finally looking at a fnaf 6 lets play (i had been in the fandom since i was literally 9 and am 14 now) because i was always so fucking terrified of fnaf 4 and 6. as i saw the ending i got chills. it was so good and motivated me to play it for myself...until i didnt get past night 4 cause it was so hard what.

Badass? Yes
Most Badass thing EVER? Hell no
My favorite part about this whole thing is how many times he goes back and explains the lore. And the fact that he stutters and pauses to catch his breath more and more each time.
As much as I hated fnaf world back in the day, I sometimes look back on it with fond memories
I just love how he just transitions from the office to getting dragged by Freddy

I hate it when people say a game or show or something is cringe when it’s more than likely the FANBASE that’s cringe
Yeah, undertale is great but I don’t like the fans.
And even worse when people say a game or show or something is cringe because they think the fans are cringe when in reality they just don’t like that the fan base is kids or young/teen girls (the latter usually being bands but yknow)
Thank you sans pfp, very cool
Fnaf fans are actually chill now, when a game is super popular, the fanbase is super toxic, but now fnaf is less toxic but its probably because after pewdiepie said fnaf wasn't scary all his fanboys called fnaf cringe and now hates it

there was a room in my old house that had the same layout as FNaF 4. At the time, FNaF absolutely terrified me. It didn't help matters that around the time we moved there, FNaF 4 was released. I remember one time i had to sleep in that room. I stayed up all night ready to bolt whenever the animatronics burst through. You have to admit, the first FNAF was a true marvel of indie games. It is quite incredible
I never saw any thing that captured automatophobia like the first fnaf game . The lazy eyes, the endoskeleton, the weird voices they emit, the way they just ....stare , and the designs (when I first saw foxy I swore that I saw him in a pizzeria somewhere before, they looked convincing as if scott based them off REAL animatronics )
For me its the eyes that get me. The wide-eyed look in a very wide eye socket made it look unreal and intimidating and corpse-like.
I remember when it first came out. The animatronics looked super disturbing, and fnaf 2 and 3 all the way to 4 kept adding more and more to that. Until SL came out, and now they look like shit lmao
Until, like, the 4th.
@@Lexilove2016 nah more like until the 5th,when the franchise realized no one took it seriously anymore and became generically self aware
I grew up in school loving this series and with security breach on the horizon, I’m oddly excited to get back into the series
Great video! You do great work, keep it up
Personally, FNAF 4 is the scariest to me not for the game itself, but because I was born with worse than average hearing. Because of that, I tend to rely on every other sense to learn and experience. It’s not that I can’t hear, but it’s far less reliable than the rest of my senses. So for a game to force me to rely on my hearing is utterly terrifying to me.
The real contents of the box were the friends we made along the way.
Fuck man that's a good one
U just summed up my personal theory about it being the 5 plushes.
So that's where they all went
I see what you did there.
nah clearly the box contains the one piece
One thing to note: Pretty much everyone has accepted that Michael Afton is in fact the older brother, there's a lot of evidence for it and the MikeBot theory is extremely farfetched. Michael survives after Ennard gets out of him because of remnant.
Also it just makes a better story. The older brother who once fucked up tries to redeem him self by saving the poor souls murdered by his father
I can't tell if Matpat knew about all the holes in MikeBot when he made that "ULTIMATE TIMELINE" video in 2018 or just ignored them
like...if you give MikeBot even the *slighest* bit of scrutiny it falls apart
In one of the most recent videos, he admitted that it's most likely that Mike was the older brother, bc of one of the latest books or something
What in the balloon boy marionette fuck does this mean
- Someone who left the game series at ffps release
Yeah like scraptraps design I think William used remnant to repeat his suit after the fire

It's odd, usually whenever I talk to people about the lore of this franchise, we all agree that it got way too complicated and despite that being cool in a way it's also tiring. However, you were the one person who actually acknowledged Scott really ended the story in FNaF 6 despite the new content being released, and honestly, it feels really good to see someone give credit to Scott for that ending.
I feel like more people should pay attention to Scott's THOUGHT PROCESS. You can see it across the games
- the different sprites & colour shades for purple guy? only relevant for Sister Location, where it was a different person; Michael
- the near year long debate about who was inside Springtrap? came from a robotic voice effect for Michael that Scott *didn't even intend to sound robotic*
- the 1983 vs 1983 debate for FNAF 4? Scott tried to end it with the private room in Sister Location but instead...he had to just outright confirm it was 1983 in *a reddit post next year*
he's a (remarkable) human being trying his best - not some infallable master storyteller. Try to keep that in mind for lore solving, because atleast from my experience it's really helped
It's really not even as complicated as people say it is. The only confusing bits of the lore are in FNAF4 and that whole game is a comatose drug nightmare.
He made 3 damn lores for this thing, games, books, and the new games, I think
