    Very helpful. Currently on an Amtrak train and the scanning feature makes it easy when you don't know what frequencies the crew is using. Thanks!

    The Close Call function has two modes for displaying the received frequency. In the first mode, you need to have time to press any button very quickly,
    to see the transmitter frequency. The second mode makes a temporary write to the databank memory register called CLOSE CALL HITS.
    The most difficult thing is to find and see what is written in this bank. Before each start of the CLOSE CALL function, it is necessary to enter the Close Call menu,
    find the Scan Hits function, go into it, and select SCAN HITS ON and press the PgmE button. After you start the Close Call only mode, and after,
    when you receive the carrier frequency, you can view it later, while the Close Call function is running, press the SCAN button,
    then immediately the HOLD button, you turn the knob at the top of the scanner counterclockwise and find the treasured data bank called CLOSE CALL HITS,
    and there are all your received frequencies.
    Функция Close Call имеет два режима отображения принятой частоты. В первом режиме нужно успеть очень быстро нажать на любую кнопку,
    чтобы увидеть частоту передатчика. Второй режим производит временную запись в реестр памяти банка данных под названием CLOSE CALL HITS.
    Самое сложное-это найти и посмотреть что записано в этом банке. Пред каждым началом запуска функции CLOSE CALL, нужно обязательно зайти в меню Close Call,

    I really need some help with this! I'm about ready to throw this scanner out of the window and myself with it! I bought a BC92XLT back in 2006, and it has finally died. I bought this model to replace it, but it has too many options and settings for my needs! I just need it to listen to my local police department, not the entire military operations, or whatever! What is the setting for just the regular police talk around? With my old model, it just had it already, I didn't need to make all of these adjustments. I don't know if they have hi, lo, UHF, or whatever all of this other stuff is, or time delays and all of that. I didn't know I needed a communications major just to listen to the scanner! Please help me! I'm begging you!

      Any agency that has gone full digital trunked systems, you will not be able to tune in. You have to invest in an expensive, digital trunking scanner or radio system to be able
      to receive digital trunked systems with encryption. These scanners are all analog systems, unless it says analog and digital.

    I have an Optoelectronics Digital Scout, it captures "close calls " faster and it save the Frequency and Tones for later retrieval, I can also connect the Digital Scout to my ICOM IC-R20 and that radio can Automatically Program Bank(s) with the frequencys in the Scout as well as Fully Demodulate the Audio for monitoring, this happens Instantly and Automatically.

    What does "Close Call" mean?

    • @k4dps
      @k4dps  Год назад

      Close call is an option on just about every available Uniden radio. It's a way to find frequencies that are close to you with a very strong signal. Close call does not work over long distances or with weak signals.

    • @SKYKOP1972
      @SKYKOP1972 Год назад

      @@k4dps Thanks for the response. I'm brand new to scanners and the term "Close Call" meant a half dozen different definitions to me. None made any sense. Even the scanners I've been researching make reference to "Close Call" but all assume I know the definition. I'm considering a UNIDEN BC125AT with a Diamond RH77CA external antenna. May I ask your thoughts on this scanner and do you have alternative considerations to share for a new user? Many thanks. SKYKOP

    just to let everybody know do not use the USB Jack on the scanner because there is a few DB loss because I've noticed when I plug in my scanner because I have a 125 and when I do that it starts to hiss when there's a transmission being received but then when I unplug the radio it goes away and receives normally without any issues so if you get this radio do not do anything but charge it and then when it's done being charged unplug it and run it off of battery I would suggest getting higher capacity batteries made by nuon they do work very good because they charge up perfectly and will last up to 12 hours on a full charge giving maximum output and I haven't seen anything bad about those batteries at all that I can think of so yeah I do externally charge the batteries of course and when I don't have my charger nearby I'll charge them in the scanner and if you really want a great antenna that really complements this radio get a mini mag antenna made by opek it's $29 with free shipping I strongly recommend this when buying the BC 125 scanner‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
