You have shared some heartwarming moments. Expect more. One of mine. On a layover in Cleveland, went to matinee move with one other F/A. Only 10 people in there. Five elderly women. One had a heart attack. We began CPR. She was taken to hospital. About six weeks later I received a card from her via my supervisor. I wrote to her to tell her I was glad she was well and the day this had occured was my birthday. Every year for nine years I received a birthday card from her. One day, not around my birthday I received a note from one of her daughters letting me know her mother had passed. She thanked me for being part of giving her and her family nine more years with their mother. Be ready, you will do more simple things that mean alot to the person you are speaking with. It is a nice feeling and you should take it all in. Be well my friend.

I remember you telling me about the missing son. I read someone said you need to separate yourself so you don’t absorb the misery but I honestly think I love that you don’t. It makes you the compassionate, understanding, accepting and the beautiful person you are. No, you can’t let yourself become overwhelmed but how can you relate to people if you don’t just feel empathy-it makes you human & I love how you feel the good & the bad. You & your sister are such beautiful, empathetic &loving people & we’re so proud your our girls❤️

I loved these stories Julia!!! One story I would like to share, is that I was at target with my twin toddlers and they were just not having it. I was “that mom”, walking through the aisles trying to get groceries with screaming kids. After I’ve already checked out, I was putting my stuff away in the car and a woman came up. She said she noticed me in the store and wanted to tell me that I’m doing a wonderful job and asked if she can put my cart away for me 😭😭😭😭 I broke down, thanked her and we hugged. I think it’s so important to be kind. If you wanna compliment someone just for fun- DO IT, they probably need to hear it. ♥️

It gives me so much warmth and joy to talk about how great he was and his life etc. thank you for being that person and having such a good heart. Hi Julia! 43 year old GP Doctor here from Germany. You are such a beautiful soul a true and rare Empath. BUT please you have to take care of your own emotional well-being! It is possible to be understanding, supportive, loving and caring in your job without taking it all home with you. It took me several years, thousands of hours of talking with my mom and hubby and one year of a resilience training but it is possible.
The first years in hospital after university I worked in onkology. I started at 25 and I always talked to the patients and their loved ones who went through the hardest time of their lives. I was full of empathy but had zero self protection so after a few months I started dreaming horrible scenarios of getting cancer or my loved ones getting it and dying. It was a terrible time. I was so young and had no training or support in dealing with all those things I experienced in my job.
Long story short I started a resilience coaching with a psychologist and it wasn’t an easy journey but now I know my boundaries and my self protection shields are an important instrument for being the best doctor for my patients I possibly can. (In the meantime I have my own practice since 2016)
I had to learn that only if I am emotionally stable I can be the support and guide my patients need me to be. So please protect yourself!
    Love and blessings!

I don’t know how I missed this video Julia but what a blessing to see it today. Thank you for sharing these moments. Because you cared to take some time to be with these passengers in the moment I’m sure they not only were thankful in that moment but remember your kindness to this day. It’s such a wonderful way to minister to someone in the moment they need it or celebrate their joys with them.
One moment that stands out to me is I was in a drive through line waiting to get my dinner and someone hit my car from behind. Obviously I was like what the heck! So I got out and the other driver got out. She was so apologetic!! She said she liked the magnet I had on my car and wanted to get a closer look and didn’t mean to hit me. And then she started crying and said she had the worst day. I don’t remember the details of what she said but something about her son. I gave her a big hug and said let’s look at the cars. No damage, not even a scratch. I gave her another big hug and we went on our separate ways. I always hoped that whatever it was that had her upset that day resolved and she is doing well in life.
I hope you share more stories like these. ❤❤

I was a postpartum nurse at a very culturally diverse hospital and there were many stories. Kindness, respect and sometimes a little humor can go a long way. One comment among the hundreds I can tell you about, was the mother of one of my patients at who thanked me for being so good to her daughter, who had had a rough go of it making less than desirable choices. She said, “Not everyone would’ve treated her like you are.” I thanked her and said everyone, including me, has made choices that hurt us and others - we all have skeletons in our closets, they’re just different skeletons!

First off thank you so much for all you do and the joy you bring folks on and off the plane! I love your videos and stories. Secondly a human connection story: I was on a job when a vehicle lost control, came through my cones, and crashed into a guiderail. Luckily I saw all of this go down and ran to assist the driver. He was having a heart attack and I stabilized him on scene before EMTs arrived. After work was concluded for the day, my coworker and I drove to the hospital with flowers, and got to meet this man's family. I learned that he was just 42 yrs old, and our quick reaction saved his life. I teach this story in every training class I do, to always be prepared for anything, you never know who you could save just by being present.

Julia - you have a beautiful soul inside and out! Those stories really prove it. I've heard from many people (mostly from clients) that their loved ones often ignore or disregard their emotional pain. It's even easier to do that as a complete stranger, but it takes a lot of empathy, emotional intelligence, and most of all kindness to approach someone, ask about it, and just listen. ❤️ My job as a therapist is very rewarding in that way but it can be very hard to carry others' stories with us.

i had a story like that, not quite as tragic, but i was behind a person at grocery store checkout lane, and this person was just berating this young girl cashier, she made a mistake and something got rung up as more expensive (we are talking like $2) and this person was just hurling insult after insult at this girl, who couldn't have been more than 16 and just in tears. i finally had enough and moved up in line and said to the rude person, "i'll give $20 if you just stop talking and leave, now." the rude person was shocked into silence, they left. the cashier was still in tears, and just thanked me, and said that was the first time any has ever stuck up for her. i just said, "you're welcome and hope your day gets better." but i just can't abide that kind of behavior and it just always stuck with me.

Wonderful video and a reminder for us all to treat everyone with compassion. My work story goes all the way back to highschool. My Mom was a nursing supervisor at the IU Med Center and I was fascinated with medicine. I was hired to be a patient transporter right after I got my driver's license working weekends, full time summers. One of my regular patients I took for long wheelchair rides to PT was a very nice older man and we'd just talk on his daily trips. I looked forward to them because he was so interesting and told stories about his exploits flying in the Air Force. One day I started work and one of the other transporters told me Mr. Smith died. It was a shock but growing up with Mom and her stories from work prepared me, even at 16, for the things that happen in medical jobs. It develops a "Detached Compassion" which helps you treat others with care, compassion and respect but also prepares you to maintain some emotional detachment... Otherwise you'd quickly be overwhelmed with sadness and grief. It also reminds you of the fragility of life. Something your sister YT and AA FA, Kacey, recently experienced 😢

I have a flight attendant story that I remember everytime I fly. I was a soldier in one of the many wars that we have fought in the last few years and we had been to Tokyo Japan for R and R for a week and we were about to land back in the country where we were going back to the war torn destination. R and R was over and we were arriving back at the war torn country and one of the Flight Attendants was asking everyone to put away their things and then raise the seat backs up then she said "I'm sorry that we have to bring you back here" to this war. If you have ever been to war you know what I'm talking about. I can still hear the nice ladies voice as she spoke those words.

Completely resonate with this. I'm ex-crew and love your videos! ♥ 2015 - rear galley of a 777-300 from LHR-LAX, finished the main service and getting drinks etc. for pax. US Army lady comes into the galley and stands chatting with us. On return from a tour in Afghan (I think,) and was really happy to be off home to see her young son - had been away for 9 months. All of a sudden she just blurted out, "I think I'm going to die," and she's down on the floor of the galley. We went at her for 2 hours with the defib and CPR, even though the defib was saying "no shock advised." We nearly diverted but she was gone. No doctor on-board, so no help from anyone with professional medical qualifications. I got to the hotel and just cried for hours. It was heart-wrenching and we were so determined to get her back, and we couldn't. A few weeks later, we were told she'd had a massive heart attack and there was nothing we could have done. 😢 The certainty which she literally predicted her own death still haunts me to this day but I still remember the conversation we had and she died in a positive frame of mind at least. People think we just serve(d) chicken or beef but it's so much more than that. Firefighter, counsellor, nurse, cleaner, waiter/waitress, disaster management, security person. There can be a lot of emotion on just the one flight! Despite all the drama, miss it loads. It's a bug that never leaves you - so keep on touching the sky! 🥰

I had a similar story to the first one you told . On a flight from Melbourne (Australia) to Frankfurt I sat next to this mid 30s lady . After a while of chatting she told me that her sister had died in Holland , and she was travelling there for the funeral and to pick up her 2 nieces . She mentioned that they had made a pact years ago , that if one of the sisters would die the other would look after their Children . We ended up talking for hours , and I was happy to listen as it seemed she needed to get a lot of her thoughts off her chest . On arrival to Frankfurt she thanked me for being there for her in this difficult situation . I was more than happy to oblige , and still wonder to this day how everything went for her .

Julia, regarding stories while flying: my stories are many, because on flights we're always sitting with/next to strangers. A very safe space and environment for sharing personal experiences; because no one knows your name, where you're from, where you live, etc. So, during my many years of travel, seatmates and I have had so many things to share, because it goes no further. We can be completely open. Oh, and before I forget, I recently won a $50 gift certificate, and yesterday the woman behind me paid for my groceries. She said she was "paying a kindness forward." Now it's my turn.
Happy holidays to you and yours, Julia. Thank you for sharing your precious stories 💗😊

Great vlog as always! You are flying to HI! I have done the same type of work but on the ground. I worked for SAS/SK from 1996-2007 both as a ticket agent and as a Red cap. I remember one young woman, she was a muslim and her father had just died in a north African country, and like in some other religions they have be in ground within a space of 24-48h. She was flying from Scandinavia via a major hub to the place of the funeral. The funeral was to be in the evening and this was at 9am. Our flight had been cancelled due to fog at the hub airport. The rest of central Europe also had fog and cancelled flights. Flights from southern Europe had left and had no flights until next morning, but then the funeral was over. I felt so sorry for this young woman. I think she cancelled the trip. I also have a story about the SAS crash at LIN. I will tell it later. Be safe!

I’m a hair stylist, & future flight attendant. Those connections are what life is all about! I can’t tell you how many times I have connected with people in a way that means so much more then money or time! You are special, to be able to make that connection and value it! Peoples that are almost strangers can change the way that you look at the world. We all need love and connection, Sometimes it goes unnoticed, but you noticed and took action. You took the time to listen, creating love and compassion! I’m cheesy, I know! Be the miracle that someone needs, it’s always worth it!

First and foremost, excellent content as always Julia! Oh, alllll the feels when you tell an emotional story! Time and time again, you show your genuineness and your humanity and your humility! You desire to love and uplift others is inspiring. I know you have tough days at work sometimes, as we all do. But it is obvious that you try your best to bring positivity to the world around you!
As a Grocery Store Manager, I have had many experiences, similar to the ones you told in this video. Most recently, one of my regular customers was buying a few bouquets of flowers. As I was putting them in her cart, I asked her what the occasion was. She replied that she was trying to cheer herself up, as her sister had just recently passed away and she was having a really tough time with it. I voided off the flowers, and I told her that we were going to pay for her flowers. She got a little emotional and thanked me several times.
Those of us that work with the public are called to a much more important role than our Job Descriptions outline. Although I have never actually seen you in action, I am 1000% certain that you go above and beyond EVERY flight, every day!
    Merry Christmas Julia!

I was a theatre nurse. We had an elderly man die in the operating theatre. His wife came up to theatres to see him. When I saw her sitting next to him she looked so lonely. I went to speak with her and she just opened up, telling me amazing stories about this man, her hero.

Wow, such powerful stories you shared with all your followers, Julia. You are a kind and loving human being indeed! I’ll tell you the hardest story in my life working in cancer care. About 15 years ago, I was treating a gentleman with a terminal cancer diagnosis and he confided in me that he was so scared to die. In all the years of my career, I have never once had a patient look, act, and say such a statement. I didn’t even know how to respond to that one but what I did do (just as you did) was to just stop everything, listen, and provide empathy to this person. I also told him I’d pray for him and I hope that brought a little comfort to him at his end of life. Such a sad moment in my working career but at the same time, I felt privileged to have helped him and others in similar situations to find some quality of life and show them there are still caring people in this world.

One time my husband and I were having our picture taken for our church photo directory. The photographer started crying and said that my husband looked like his son who had passed away. WOW!! Its no surprise you are moved by these stories, Julia. I don't know you personally, but you seem like such
a kind and empathic person. In a very natural way. The world needs more people like you! I heard a story on CBC Radio.
Terry O'Reilly has a show about media and advertising. The story was a man was going to see his baby grandson.
He was to be taken off life support after his daughter's "live-in boyfriend" had beaten the child. So he was more than twenty minutes late to board the flight and he thought it had left. When he got there the plane was still there waiting for him.
Full of passengers. It was a Southwest flight. The captain met him and said "the plane can't leave without me, and I'm not leaving without you". Terry's point was Southwest has enough respect for its employees to let them make decisions like this.
Flying may not be what it used to be (lots of flights delayed today because of weather) but caring people make all the difference. Caring people like YOU Jetting Julia Ross!!! All the best to you and Eric and Luna for the holidays and New Year!

Listen, I really hope you see this comment. I went on my first plane ride this year and it was really scary, but what was even more scary for me was that when I came back from my vacation I had to fly back alone. So needless to say I was a nervous wreck. But...these two incredible flight attendants were there, we met when I first got on the plane and they took care of me the entire time, checking on my nerves and making sure I didn't feel alone. At the point where we started descending I had a panic attack and they both came over to me, knelt down beside my seat and held my hands, and one of them even let me hug her until I could calm down. Those two ladies were my angels, and they didn't even make me feel bad afterwards for panicking so much. Flight attendants are superheroes and so helpful. Thank you for all that you do, trust me when I say your work is far from overlooked. ❤️
