First time I heard this song was driving to work with my sister, back in the 90's when this song came out. I fell in love with it and the whole album. Darren Hayes has such a smooth voice. Note of trivia: He was an English teacher. The name of the band is a literary reference. They are from Australia.

I'm from Alabama. A friend and I was in Texas when this came out. We were in hot pursuit of a couple of lovely young ladies we had met at an event back home. Long story short. It turned out to be quite the adventure. Our housing arrangements fell through, so we ended up sleeping in my 81 Buick Regal for 3 weeks, while trying to find jobs. Ended up having to come back home. Anyway. That's what this song reminds me of. Waterfalls by TLC is another one that reminds me of that time in my life.

I love this song, if you didn't realize it you reacted to one of their other songs just a short time ago (Truly Madly Deeply), this song was their first "big" hit, at least here in the states and it was quite different compared to most of their other hits that went for more of a ballad/lovesong, it's much more of a pop song and it's damn catchy too.
This takes me right back to 8th grade or so when it came out back in the 90s, I remember the teacher would let a group of us watch MTV shortly before the day was out and this was one of those songs that I remember coming on and getting stuck right in your head when it did, especially the "Cherry Cola" part of the song. Heck a lot of my friends referred to it as the "Cherry Cola" song because they didn't remember the actual name of it lol.

I was on my first year of college when this song came out in '97. My then-girlfriend loved but, like it seemed with a lot of people, she didn't know the title. She just referred to it as that Chic a Cherry Cola song. I heard that from more people that just her. In fact, a Google search brings up tons of entries referring to this song as the Chic a Cherry Cola song.
It definitely felt very different than anything else that was on the radio at the time which seemed to be dominated by R&B. There's nothing wrong with those songs at all, but this just felt completely different at the time.

Lol I'm glad you do so many different styles of music. I believe you are breaking a lot of stereotype thoughts about rap, which I believe those stereotypes were started by the music industry its self. The more I watch your videos the more I'm realizing rap is actually a style not a genre. Thanks for explaining the "flowing" term as well. I did enjoy the music part but verses were too fast for my taste. As an amature vocalist myself I prefer to be able to hear the lyrics and this song was too fast for my hearing lol. Still not a bad song just not my cup of tea.
