This is one of my severely autistic, nonverbal son's stop-on-a-dime songs---he loves it SO much!
When I said, "Look! The Rob Squad found your song!" he lit up like a Roman candle and was just overjoyed and clapping his hands...and I had to excuse myself 'cause I got a little leaky.
If you'd consider taking a request from a special lil' kid, try out Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots." It's a blast!

"Don't give up you got a reason to live."
Spread the word to all the people that suffer from Depression. What's also crazy is that the record company at first didn't like the song, it was only after a lot persistence before they would release it. This is usually in the talks as one of the best songs of the '90s and such a brilliant uplifting song.

This song has pulled me through many a hard time.
And though we usually leave politics out of this channel, i was very touched when i found out this song means a lot to the President. Apparently Beau used to play it a lot when he was diagnosed with cancer. The New Radicals reunited just to play it for him at the inauguration.
This is the short version where he leaves out the line "just don't be afraid to LIVE"!
      What's real... Can't die!!!

Of course, its easier said than done to come to that if you're stuck in that hole.

The mid 90s in full motion! lol I remember this song playing A LOT on radio stations, takes me back to so many memories I didn't even realize I had and had forgotten! When I close my eyes to this song I instantly go back to 16/17 and burning back roads in the country on an atv or in the jeep with my then bf, which later we became parents to my son, everyday was sunny then and naively innocent and SO FREE, especially compared to now. We didn't last together as a couple, but those summers in my memories did! Our son is now 23, I can't believe how fast time flies!!! This was one of the many songs to the soundtrack of my teenaged life during that era, I can still feel the wind in my face and the butterflies in my stomach and chest just as I did then. This is actually the first time I've heard this song in idk how long...gotta be years! Crazy how a song and just music in general can transport you to another time and place! Sometimes it takes you back to visit where you've already been and others take you to a place that you haven't ever been before, sometimes to another world and dimension!
I LOVE the power of music and sentimental memories!

I was at Hard Rock RockFest held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway back in 1999 when they were supposed to play, but broke up right before the show. I was and am still incredibly bummed.
Luckily the rest of the lineup was incredible.
The twelve-hour festival featured sets from the Offspring, Live, Third Eye Blind, Everlast, Eve 6, Better than Ezra, Sugar Ray, Silverchair, Collective Soul, Marvelous 3, Live, Taxiride, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Citizen King played in place of The New Radicals.
To be 21 at the time, it was an experience of a lifetime.

New Radicals was basically Gregg Alexander, the singer. He's a brilliant songwriter, arranger and producer who's won a Grammy and written and produced for many, many musicians. This song was a HUGE hit (I remember dancing to it like a fool in Salzburg, Austria, in 1999) and its success freaked Alexander out so much that he disbanded New Radicals and went back to writing and producing.

A member of The New Radicals was Danielle Brisebois. If you are old enough, you may remember she played the role of Archie Bunker's niece Stephanie on All in the Family, and later on the spinoff Archie Bunker's Place. After that show ended, she went on to pursue a music career and has since co-written songs such as Pocketful of Sunshine and Unwritten for Natasha Bedingfield, as well as Lost Stars for Adam Levine from the movie Begin Again (2013). She co-wrote it with Gregg Alexandar (lead singer for The New Radicals) and the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
