I absolutely won’t judge Jessi but all I can say is if it were me in that situation I would have at least stuck around to make sure the fan who was assaulted was okay and waited for the police. People may view her inaction as wrong or immoral and that’s okay, it is however important that people still understand that she wasn’t the aggressor in that situation.

I dont think the criticism comes that much because an idol didnt protect her fan, but because is Jessi, an idol that reinforces an imagen of being phyically and mentaly strong, a "bad ass" that protects her people including her boyfriends, didnt protect her own fan (also a much younger fan) when the opportunity came. She could at least stayed with the fan until police, family or friends came, to show the protective side of her without putting her body at risk, but didnt.
So i think that, netizens that critique her, are disapointed with that lack of authenticity and coherence of expectations vs reality.
If instead of Jessi was another idol (lets say taeyeon, irene or sandara, to say some female idols in their 30's without the "bad ass" "strong woman" image) people would have said things like "i am glad (insert idol) run away, she could have being assaulted too, what a scary situation".

She didn’t stay more than likely because this dude came out of nowhere. She was put in a situation where a fan was coming at her during her private time at NIGHT. She prob felt uncomfortable and saw what happened told them to stop and left because her life was also at risk. When were put in crazy ass situations like she was many people freeze up and leave. It’s not her responsibility to save a person because they are her fan….It’s super ironic that people are attacking her when she wasn’t even the one who beat up someone 😭😭😭
Last note we are only given a clip and people act like they have the whole story. Korea has a trend of attacking women….

@@duck8049 The fan was stalking her? i thought the fan was just walking by and by luck found her on the street, so he approached to see if she could take a photo with him and then you can see in the clip that when she said "no" (to take that photo) he started to distance her bowing like saying "ok, thank you, nice to meet you, goodbye". I dont see the problem in that, he looks respectfull towards her and it was a very short moment, not like he was bothering her. thats not a stalker.
And i agree she didnt have to protect the fan. I was just pointing out why i think people is upset with her: she has an image of protective brave bad ass strong woman but behaved differently when giving the opportunity of showing that side of her.

I read on redit some are saying fan must have done something inappropriate but I don't think anything like that happened clearly CCTV shows he respectfully bowed and there was enough distance between them. So people needs to stop assuming things and try to put this on that Minor fan who clearly got hurt.
To me the video shows Jessi doing nothing wrong and she's actually being polite at the start and then the other girl and her try to de-escalate when the first guy escalates and the other guy punches the fan.
Yeah maybe she could have done more like people are saying, calling police or staying with the fan, making sure he is alright, not hurt too much or making sure he could do some kind of help, whatever he needed like calling his parents since he was a teenager So i do understand others perspective too.

Alright, so this all went down bout 10 days ago actually. The kid, who got straight up punched and kicked for no reason, reached out to Jessi and her team, just tryin' to get the guy's info so he could report him. But Jessi? She hit him and his parents with, "I don't know who that was," and told them to stop "threatening her by contactin' her like this." Like, she couldn't care less about what happened to that kid. She was actin' real slick, playin" dumb, hopin' it would all just disappear if she ignored it long enough until the media picked it up.
But the kid's parents weren't havin' it. They linked up with the cops, got ahold of the CCTV footage, and pieced it all together where Jessi's crew went, what they did, and even where they stayed. And guess what? After the kid got attacked, Jessi rolled out to another bar with the same group actin' like it was just another night out. No apology, no concern nothing
And here's the messed up part, the kid didn't do a damn thing to deserve it. All he asked was, "Can I get a pic with you?" Both the kid and Jessi confirmed that much. But the dude who hit him? Some Chinese guy, and right after the attack, he fled the country. And Jessi just let it happen like she knew and didn't care. That's why people are heated. She could've done somethin', but instead, she let this kid take the hit and kept it pushing like it didn't mean nothin

The problem with this is that they didn't do anything afterwards instead go an party like nothing happened and hiding the dude that assaulted the fan. Also, in the West this would have also been huge, except the artist wouldn't have gotten away with this lukewarm reply. K pop stars are held to a higher standard, that was his point, I think. You have celebs like 50 Cent and Cardi B who threw microphones at people and still everything continued as usual. I don't think they even addressed an apology if I remember correctly.
There are various times you see western celebrities acting out in a way that K pop stars couldn't even dream of in from of a camera, and still they keep going on like nothing happened. And it has been this way for a long time.
