Try Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san, you might like it. It's similar to this show but modern. Not the same concept exactly, but you'll see why I compare them.

i found out about Akira Jimbo through this song, and because i knew about Jimbo i found out about Casiopeia. a few years later, they’re now one of my favorite bands of all time! thanks, Seki-kun!
we need more shows like that it's simple, light hearted, and perfectly bite sized quite amazing what they get done in a few minutes and frankly, I'm pretty sure that this is a lot easier on the animators compared to full length episodes not saying it's easy on a weekly schedule, but not as taxing if you have seen "Shirobako", "Genshiken" or episode 6 of "Golden Boy" you get a taste of the cruel reality that is anime, and some shows even had issues during production that wen't puplic, like in "Wonder Egg Priorities" where some animators have been sent to the hospital due to exhaustion.

I'm gonna feel ya. Set them free. I say, "Turn it up and feel the beat!" Wake up in the dream, yeah, yeah, yeah! Tryin' to free ya, even through wildest days. ?????????????????????????

Super catchy Ed song and I'm glad I watched it recently. Easy binge and definitely a gem. The vibe kinda reminds me of the Excel Saga opening. You guys should check that one out too.
It's Jazz my friend. It's a smooth, concentrated, neat mess of sax, drums, trumpet, and bass. many other instruments as well. try to enjoy the melody :)
Well, the first note for the "Yeah yeah yeah" part is lower than in the anime's ending... it's possible that they rerecorded it strictly for the anime, and this is just the full version before that?
Phantom Thief The anime version actually used a track from the actual drummer playing on school supplies (the same ones in the anime), it's pretty interesting to see him actually play on a make-shift drumset like that. I suggest looking up the video for it.
You know, this sort of anime is what made me like anime in the first place.
The formula is so simple, but at the same time so charming.
tricksterhuaun I know what you mean. Most animes I have watched have complicated yet amazing storylines but the simplicity of this makes me love it
Try Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san, you might like it. It's similar to this show but modern. Not the same concept exactly, but you'll see why I compare them.
And yes
My dude Seki probably has a full functioning universe in his bedroom closet where he's the darth vader of it.
I HAVE BROUGHT PEACE, FREEDOM, JUSTICE, AND SECURITY TO MY NEW EMPIRE
Wish more people knew about this show; it's great
one of my first 5 minutes episode anime, and loved it
I've watched a little bit, is this an actualy Anime? If so, what's the name please?
Tonari no Seki-kun
I thank you! :3
Np, have fun watching it
6 Years, this song has been stuck in my head for 6 years
@weeb destroyer It's still stuck, not dead yet
NO BECAUSE SAME THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE LIFE THIS SONG WONT LEAVE
7 and it's going to be 8. The drummer kills it
Still stuck?
8yrs and counting
Opening -Kana Hanazawa
Ending - Akira Jimbo
These two duo single handedly made this anime fire
9 years later, still wishing it was on Spotify and not region-blocked
it's region-blocked?
Seki-kun is a more realistic and japanese person of Phineas and Ferb.
Khiean Paquete.

Thank you for transcribing
Aw
Just finished this anime, love the episodes and the sense of humor. And the ending is always my favorite
Alexandro Salinas ALWAYS!!
Lol I do enjoy the intro as well, but nowhere near as much!!
I fully agree with this anime basically has them legit slacking off in class but it’s so entertaining and the ending is so good

Akira Jimbo is Japan’s greatest drummer, anime aside get some culture people
i found out about Akira Jimbo through this song, and because i knew about Jimbo i found out about Casiopeia. a few years later, they’re now one of my favorite bands of all time! thanks, Seki-kun!

I love how the song reminds me of Sonic Adventure theme song for Rogue. I mean think about it. It totally does.
I always end up coming back here for that god damn amazing drum solo.
「リアル関くん」も楽しいけど、りあるドラムはさすがに聴かせるねぇ。
I would love to see full version of this song where seki plays it
I have searched the interwebs as far as my curser will carry me, and after 3 weeks of searching I STILL can't find the damn lyrics for this song!

This my favorite anime because i watched it at the time where i enjoy my life the most

すごい曲ですね!
I honestly didn't expect the anime to make the ED different from the actual music...
Underrated asf honestly, both the anime and the music.
Love this theme remunds me of cowboy bebop and this anime is so funny
Well, it's sorta jazz after all, so no wonder Bebop comes to mind.
I'm gonna feel ya. Set them free.
I say, "Turn it up and feel the beat!"
Wake up in the dream, yeah, yeah, yeah!

I was trying to understand what she was saying

"I wanna feel ya: set them free"... Have I been reading too much ecchi manga lately, or is this song actually about groping breasts?
いい音楽すぎる。
JAzz is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Awesome
The greatest love story never told
The anime and this song both are heavily underrated
Yokoi, Yokoi everywhere
Gives me a Persona 5 vibe, I like it
Finally someone point it out. Thank you

I hate how not that many people know about this show!!!

WarriorBaumnuss300 yes it's just too short for me. The real song is much longer too.
8 years late, but there is! its a bonus track on Akira Jimbo's album "Jimbo de Cover 3"

the intro sounds so cool after that the drumming part just sounds like a big mess

Who are the vocals by?
I feel like I've heard them in another anime opening/ending theme, but cant remember where.
Ai Ikegami
Kind of reminds me of the "persona 4 - game" Ending or opening.
***** The song is called "Set them free" its sung by Various Artists.
There isn't really one person.
it reminds me a lot of persona man
It does actually. The vocals sound a lot like Persona 5, while the overall tone of the song reminds me more of Marvel vs Capcom 2.
that drum solo :D
dat saxophone solo is the B.O.A.T.
