I'm just seeing this clip for the first time about a week after The Acolyte episode 3 came out. Things got so, so much worse. There are so maaaannnny more problems.
He sums it up perfectly. If you’re handling an established IP you need knowledge, understanding and respect for the source material. You can’t just pick and choose what you like from what was before, alter things and introduce nonsensical elements that screws over established lore and characters. New Star Wars fans are maybe less likely to understand the frustration of older fans, because they’re not as familiar with the previous movies.
Remember, this was before Rise of Skywalker hit theaters. He was talking solely about The Last Jedi; The moment Luke tossed the lightsaber over to his shoulder was when Star Wars died.

There are TONS of problems with the Disney Star Wars films but “the Jedi are impotent” starts in Episode, 1 and Luke exiling himself comes from Lucas’ original drafts pre-Disney. They’re terribly written disasters of movies, to be sure, but Luke’s characterization given the motivations written for him never seemed out of place to me in comparison to any other number of glaring issues.
