I'm probably the reason for that manifold crack. I wanted to leave you with a souvenir.
Looooved driving this thing ❤️
You guys need a Miata for the channel as we all now Miata's are the best. This has to be a better track car than the Civic and Stang!
You jinxed it Dave 😅
I blame you, Craig! :P Too funny that I was bragging to you literally a day or two before we shot this.
No, Mr Peters, it was your input. If there's anyone jinxing Miatas, its you!
@@1one3_Racing I think it's Pedders. Mr. Craig Pedders.
Miata *DAD!*
@@joseramirez-hh2sw hello son
Gutted we aren't seeing more content in the Miata, this is the car that's got me watching you guys..
I was hyped when I clicked vid thought they bought the k swap for it
same
This was the car that brought me to the channel.
Not only did it bring me to the channel, but it was the reason I bought an NB1 Miata. I'm going to miss this little guy!
@@Sara_PY it’s also made me want to get one as a weekend toy/project too! I’m still gutted now
They had to make a business decision, their new equipment probably wasn't cheap by any means. Decals came off because it is way more likely that they would be able to sell it locally. They're doing another miata challenge and it makes sense to start on a fresh platform, so im happy with what theyre doing
I agree
Pete - When you put tyre’s on the wheel try line it up with the valve stem, you’ll find you go through a few less wheel weights :)
Yep, the yellow dot on the tires from the tire makers need to line up with the valve stem.
They actually made a video about how to mount tyres properly a while back, where they explain the yellow dot has to line up with the valve.
So I do think they already know about this.
She’s the reason why I started watching you guys, farewell track princess! sometimes for bigger and better things you have to move on. Bitter sweet news. I’m glad you guys gave grown so much
Im a “miata guy” and while you were adding that up, was waiting for a ridiculous ask...but honestly, 9k is a fair price, bully to you both
I would love to see more footage about the 2JZ M3, the 'STI Killer' EVO and the 'Supercar Killer' STI in action i.e. laps at the racetrack, roll races, etc. I recall 20 episodes for the build and 1-2 driving it..
when welding headers, i always weld the inside and outside of the primaries. welding on both sides of anything will make that thing stronger. the welds won't break, the welded item will break somewhere else.
When welding the manifold, you should have the flange bolted down or tacked to a solid bar to stop warping
Someone watches gears and gasoline
Doesn't matter if you are just fixing a little crack like that , the heat is going to be very localized .
dilsher12 he learned from a RUclips video what do you expect
Farewell sweet prince, you shall be missed.
I'm sure you've considered it, but I think this channel would benefit from a car being built to a series like the Targa you competed in years ago. Would be awesome if you competed in Gridlife when you're allowed to come over. Gears and Gasoline kind of did that and it feels good to watch them build a car and try to compete, you see the headaches and now they got a podium finish.
Ya, not happy about this one. Was hoping to see more content on this.
Same
They just never got it sorted, and took advice from everyone. Which means it was never narrowed down to something good
Im confident that the money they will gain from selling the miata will be put towards better future projects. Im looking foward to that.
You don't need to backpurge headers.
Its a good idea on turbo manifolds as the crystals can go through your impeller if your don't, but lots of engine builders don't bother.
When repairing cracks its a good idea to preheat the metal the metal though to make it malleable and enhance penetration otherwise it can crack again on the same line.
Good luck with the sale guys, i know all those modifications add up.Nice to see the tire equipment been a mechanic from2004-2016 so i used machines like that alot, and the lazer pointer and helper arm are some nice comforts to have.Like to see a k swapped NC on this channel some day.Great job guys.👍✌️👉
the yellow dot on the tire should line up with the valve = less balance weights used :)
Someone's gonna get a well sorted bunch of fun there!
Back purge for anti sugaring is more important for turbo. I would more importantly clamp the manifold flange down flat to avoid the cheap metal from curling. Otherwise good job.
Modified cars DON'T hold their value, does not matter if you put 100k worth of aftermarket parts on the car, at the end of the day the car will only sell for kelly blue book value. I learned that the hard way when trying to sell my modified Subaru WRX...
didn't learn from the sale of the Mustang, Stock clean cars sale for more.
Our budget Miata track build is sitting on the lift with the front frame rails being replaced... we're $10k in on purchase price and maintenance parts only for the NB2 (with a few performance parts sprinkled in). With the electronics, FA 510s and Recaros this thing is a steal at $12k CAD.
i wanted this car until you took the speed academy decals off
The decals! They made the car unique.
Oh man If I was still living in upstate NY (Saratoga) I'd snatch this up in a heartbeat. GLWS and I loved this series! I watched and subscribed to the channel previously to the miata series but I didn't watch every episode like I do now. That was my fav content you guys created along with the driving segments.
Pro tip for removing and installing tires, you’ll notice the barrel of the rim had a recess, try and put the bead on the opposite side your prying on to give you a little more room. For example, when you’re removing the tire and your trying to pry the bead up and over the anvil on the tire machine, push down on the opposite side of the tire so it goes into the recess in the rim.
For some reasons, i think you can sell the parts individually and get more from the car. I don't know, maybe I'm insane.
This is true for almost every project car, what it boils down to though is time and effort. Most people would rather just get rid of the whole car all at once.
Probably right. The market for miatas is insane.
Not worth the extra work of replacing with oem and also finding and paying for those oem parts.
They will be lucky to get $9000 Canadian for 99 NB , if it was 2003 NB (Mazda fixed weak chassis panels) maybe $10,500 Canadian. If they still have OEM parts ... change it back to a street car . $3500 an sell the parts too bad they didn't replace rear main seal on there clutch job ....very common on Miata with that many miles.
@@brucewaynenotbatman .... Peter likes to throw stuff out. They got a real deal on this NB , back to OEM parts would get them $3500 Canadian
*sees miata is for sale*
*looks at bank account*
*cries*
That has to be the greatest tire balancer and tire mounted I've ever seen. Very impressed!
Love having something to watch on Sunday. That aluminum tape trick is legit, I baked my brakes to the point they were smoking pretty bad and the aluminum tape never budged.
You may have done this off camera but it's good to lube the sealing surfaces on the wheel as well, helps the tire seat properly. Good to see you guys expanding your abilities and self sufficiency!
The rear brake calipers are not self adjusting. it did not back out, its just pads are used so needs to be adjusted. Yes, its stupid but that is how mazda did, also MX6 same deal
Those are after market , OEM has a better adjuster .
@@alexisknows6513 They are OEM
@@yurishnirman3847 ....I will refrain from getting into a pissing match , SA video date June 14th , 2019 . .....:-)
I see many aftermarket exhaust systems crack because they don’t have a flex section.
So glad you guys are back!! Loving all the new content so far, excellent stuff with no extra fluff or nonsense!
Bro’s! You should’ve left the speed academy vinyl on, I would’ve wanted it if I was buying it
In house tire management!...love it!
I would love to see the speed academy stickers stay on. Those were sweet!!!!
Well what i can tell you is that the casual viewer mostly apeal on budget builds ,build offs unusual and special car revies engine builds and showing some events like track days drift days and competitions
A rubber pinstripe remover wheel will remove the old adhesive stuck to the inside of the rim. It will also clean the rim well enough to have the sticky weights to stuck properly.
Under different circumstances, I'd buy this for my weekend and autocross. Nice work!
Sad to see it go, but i support you fully in whatever you have to do with your channel!
If it was summer if fly out from Vancouver BC drop some cash and drive it home. It would be a great trip home and a chance to see the country leisurely. But its almost a Canadian winter and im about to snow tire my car up. GLWS it's a good looking build! enjoyed watching it all come together!
Oh snap, a Sunday morning video!
Best of luck on the sale...fair price and great upgrades!
This little thing looks like so much fun to scoot around in! 👍🏼👍🏼
so you're getting rid of the one car you built and actually used for on track videos? oh well on to the next cars! :)
Super neat looking NB, really enjoyed this content. Will be missed but looking forward to see other content as well. Good luck with the sale
Yellow dot on the tire should line up with the rubber valve stem and I believe(!) the red dot is for TPMS sensors.
We build kitcars with the miata platform :) tiny , lightweight cup ready
Pretty kick ass tyre setup. After project comes and goes, looking forward to see the new ones :)
Amazing how clean but also naked it looks without the stickers. Would love this miata if I lived in Canada. Sadly I‘m in Germany. 😄
I enjoyed every minute of this video. Nice detailing at the end lol.
Great videos guys, pls keep it up. But my very very nicely modified e36 M3 I just bought for 8500, really really makes me feel like a got a great deal, so thanks for that...I think $6000 is more than fair for that car.
Nice tire changing setup. It doesn't look like you used the balance marks on the tire though. Glad to see you guys are back at it.
You should line up the yellow dot on the tire with the valve stem....
Tire mounting machine has gotta be nice to have. My wheels magically seem to get new scratches every time I pay to have new tires mounted🙄
Absolutely love this channel it really just got better👌👌
Dang, I would have bought it but you pulled the stickers off.....Nice series guys!
Glad to see ur back to uploading
Really enjoyed the MX5 build which inspired me to do one too :)
Keep up the good work fellas, views will soon follow
Sad to see the miata go. But obviously you can't in any shape or form keep all the cars. Can't wait to see all the goodness ahead. Hope you get top price from this, so you can finance future projects. :)
Sad to see her go! do another
Pretty big fan of the speed academy approved track pants 🤟
That's a really good asking price. Now, it's hard to find nice ones that are well prepped and sorted. I sold my NA too soon!
The tire station was the star of the show D:
I completely forgot you had it. And I'm entirely OK with that.
This cleaned up really nice. Wish it was mine 😁
Looks n sounds great! Wish I could've bought it.
that is an absolute steal! I wish I had a place to park it
New camera? Y'all are looking crisp
This is the first vid I've seen on the NB and I'm still sad to see it go
It always cracks me up when guys heavily modify a car, then expect to recoup 50% or more of the cost - but don't include all the original parts too...
Dave keeping at it with the weight loss!
Should've put it on Ebay or Cars and Bids so we could have a chance to purchase it
Welcome back ☺️
Well you purchased the base NB for a deal ,if you still have OEM parts -you could sell it for $4000 Canadian . Save the seats etc for the next project ,sell off the rest ....I could take the coil overs off your hands. P.S. Would you group all the track head to heads , I can't find the guy that was faster then Quinn . I found your channel via this Miata , but will stay to see more dyno tuning......;-) Or to hear Peter say burn it....;-)
can’t wait for the new projects 👀
Wish you had actually shown how out of balance it was with the original tire. Cool unit for sure. I use a manual tire changer with a mod kit. Can't do 40s though :(
I remember giving you the chance at at 100% (CA)thats California) rust free car and you passed. I get export/import but I dont care a bout his car boys unless it's a give away. A moose is a moose of course.
DON"T weld on the inside after you weld the outside first, especially if you dont backpurge it with argon. The inside will be sugared and oxidized, no benefit.
D'oh! I was looking forward to joining the 2021 RUclipsr Track Challenge.
Tire rotation was facing the wrong direction it was mounted for left side not right @1:32
Dam wanted to see Jackie Ding run a time in this thing.
You guys can store a few cars at my house in Saskatchewan. The only catch is you have to let me put a couple kms on them
Forgot you are uploading Saturday now......you just rebuild that Rotary engine.... does that fit into a Miata? Now that would be cool...:-)
raceland has lifetime warranty on all products pretty sure. and their customer service is great.
Kind of wished you left the speed academy sticker on the bottom door on at least. It looked super cool :(
another pro tip for balancing tires: you should go for a quick drive after mount, but before driving. I've found that it helps the tires set on the rim, which will change the balance.
Looks SOO good w/o the stickers.
Good flow on the video!
Shame, I've been wondering what you'd do with this
Unlike other stock “low mileage” Miata, this one is actually worth the $9k USD price. If only I lived in Canada
NC chassis seems like a great candidate for swaps indeed.. great looking car too
Tim O' Callaghan I’ve seen LS motor swaps, but I think the LFX (3.6L Chevy Camaro) seems like an interesting swap (330 hp ish).
@@renoreno3685 blueprinted 1uz otherwise.. capable of pretty high RPM, mates up to the stock 6 speed quite easily
You guys need to build a GLTC or time attack car and compete
Solid car for a reasonable price.
If your weld is grooved out 100% through and has full pen it won't need both sides welded.
I would hate using that machine. I can't wait till he does a tire with a sensor.. Those relearning new tpms videos will be great.
Why was the intro music volume so much louder than the rest? Was that intentional, or just amateur hour?
The price halved when you took the Speed Academy stickers off
Wish you guys could sell this on Cars and Bid just to see what it returns. But with the border that probably won't work well.
With the youtuber track series continued honestly
