Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet. A tuffet is a small grassy mound or clump of grass; or alternatively a low seat.
Or a small low stool.
Well she did have a bowl..maybe was eating her whey
My backside is low and I sit on it. Forevermore it shall be referred to as my “ tuffet”.
Small tufted stool.
You could make a hot air balloon ornament out of that etched glass ball!
The photography of the ice and frost was beautiful.
You might consider for future projects creating the interior of a Greek/Roman museum using those figurines that are broken and look like they come from an archaeological dig.
My favorite: the Cat Bed...or Poop, pooper-pampered pooch bed! That was such a funny blooper. I'm glad you left it in. Great video, finds and "shard stories"!
Your etched bottle top reminds me of a fancy hot air balloon. love your videos always exciting when you find things for crafting
i thought the same thing! Hot air balloon.
I third that! It was my very first reaction to seeing it :)
DITTO
Me too!
I had the same thought. 😀
That picture you found matches that water gun to much to not be one. Maybe a clay pipe maker company made ceramic ones after, since kids liked the metal ones. I would try putting a small water balloon on it and see it squirt! Lol
The etched glass ball top would make a beautiful ornament.
Thanks for being brave enough to go out in that weather, and finding more interesting treasures. I think that is a water gun, and it is in perfect condition. The pipes continue to be wonderful to collect! Stay well Kate.
Your photography is always so beautiful and soothing..I am always so happy when I see a video of you pop up..thank you for braving the ice and cold! That little squirt gun is delightful..you must make a tiny rubber bulb and try it lol.
Seeing the dolls shoe with heel made me think you need a pair of wee slippers warming by the doll house’s fireplace.
If faeries became humans, then you fit that description, the love of the simple things has been lost in time and you are bringing it back, thank you
You know it’s 🥶 cold when you have to scrap thanks for braving that for our entertainment. Bundle up gals and great finds
I love your stories, your larks, your crafts...everything. You two are my favorites.
Mine too so genuine.
Totally agree
the ball shaped item reminds me of a hot air balloon.
It might make a beautiful chandelier in the doll house
It reminds me of a miniature hot air balloon too!
I love how you girls "Frankenstein" the broken figurines.
The little gun is a novelty water squirter. A rubber ball would stretch over the back part filled with water.
Ah, you figured it out at the roundup.
After you talked about the postal code year i had to Google when it firs started being used in Canada. They started thinking of it in 1969, but it was first used in 1971. It is amazing what we learn watching your show.
Wonderful finds! Love the history. Thank you Ladies, stay safe and stay well. Hello to Oscar and Sonny cat🐱🧒👋
"Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and whey" so it must have been a tuffed stool. The clay gun looks like a hand holding a scroll to me.
Little Miss Muffet sat on a bowl ? Well there’s something to conjure up !!! That’s as far as I ‘ve got with your video. You are such a hoot Fleur.!!! Love both of you,Jo.xxxxxxx
Could the little gun thingy be a "Pipe Tamper?"
Beautiful frost & ice shots!!!! Must have been very chilly!❣️🇨🇦
It definitely does look like a little play squirt gun!😂
I think the water pistol is the best bet. Must be very rare in deed. Love the clay pipe with the back of the head on one side and face on the other side. Very cool.
Hello from chilly Canada 🇨🇦
Hello Canada from equally chilly Erie PA USA
Great history lesson. Thanks for braving the cold. The water pistol is awesome!!
Have you tried using rice in your glass topper? Put in with a bit of vinegar and baking soda and swish as it foams.
Love the photography of the ice and frost. The Sherd Stories are a great addition. Thank you for showing bits of pottery even though you don’t collect it now. I have a soft spot for pottery.
I was screaming at the TV to take that lovely odd shaped bottle 😁 Thanks for another wonderful adventure
The etched glass bubble would make a lovely hot air balloon with attached basket. The lines remind me of the rope netting they used to use to hold the balloon to the basket itself. Also, I cannot believe how thorn-filled that dump is! I am afraid I would be a very impolite sailor of swearing.
The little water gun reminded me of a tiny microscope, just needs a base.
pipes are cool-unknown treasures are cool but legs lead to new babies-my favorite
Very brave to hp out in that freezing weather some amazing finds ladies thank you xx
A tuffet is an old fashioned name for an ottoman. Nice finds today. Take care.
Fantastic finds love the pipe bowl’s and stoneware. That glass ball reminds me of a balloon it’s very beautifully designed. 💗💗💗💗💗⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
According to my Dictionary, a tuffet is a low stool (or a turf of grass). You might have enough buttons to make a framed display (picture made out of buttons). You could have turned that broken Penny Lick into a free standing pin cushion.
When you 1st found the 🔫 shaped item, just based on the grooves at the end I thought it could be (part) of a stylized version of a "Dummy" Pacifier for Babies..but then why would you want Baby chewing on a 🔫??😬😉 Great research! BTW I researched ( wondering why a Cardinal was STILL about in Winter); Cardinals don't migrate in Winter, or use Birdhouses, they hang out in Evergreen trees, Shrubs, & overgrown thickets.* The presence of a vibrant red Cardinal is a happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, as long as we keep their memory in our hearts.❤😊
Thank you for this wonderful video. Stay warm and cheers.
I think that a pipe maker made one or maybe a couple for his children. Maybe they made more for other children but I would definitely put it at 97% it is a clay squirt gun. Nice really nice.
I would’ve taken that Savon bottle and ground down that top because that was awesome not to mention the colors
All of your finds were great but the little gun was extra special! I too think it looks like a clay squirt gun but I could also be wrong. Kate please dress warm and don't let yourself get too cold. After being I'll it is much easier to have a relapse if you let yourself get rundown, too cold or don't drink enough water! This is the old grandma coming out in me, sorry, I'm sure you know all of this! I love watching you on your adventures! Please be careful and stay safe! ❤❤
My dad was a postman until he passed away in 1985. I remember the postcodes beginning. I believe it was when the sorting offices were starting to computerised
What a find! I found a tiny lead water pistol a while ago in quite similar design to this, it would have had a rubber ball full of water as the grip. The rubber would have slotted over those two ‘ribbed’ bits near the base.
Not 100% but I think it could be!
Great finds all round and great video! 👏👏👌
Put a small balloon with water in it and shoot it.
It is!
Totally enjoyed yet another of your wonderful adventures and thank you for braving the cold to go out and find amazing treasures 👌😊 oh and for taking us all with you 🥰 hope the remainder of your sickness leaves you soon Kate. Cheers Deb 😊
The icy plants are beautiful! And a great mudlarking day in the cold.
That broken bottle stop would have worked for a refrigerator magnet. A tuffet is a padded footstool.
I like the clips of the frosted plants, so very much. The perfect easy, fast way to rescue and up-cycle broken pottery pieces, slag-glass, broken marbles, or any glass bottle stops that are broken in half .... glue fridge magnets onto the flat side. Great way to display your treasures that way is on a found old metal sign. Kate, the round etched bulb you found, would be a wonderful Hot-Air Balloon, with twisted/braided metal as the ropes, as well as a tiny (metal basket?) The pretty brown glass bottle you found, would make a great skirt for a porcelain, lady's head and body, you find sometimes, by cutting the top of the bottle for a good fit.
Now that is an amazingly clever piece of detecting.
You should use the decanter top to create a mini hot air balloon assemblage
Oh Love that sweet Doll head💗my oh my ,Thank Yous ✌️🌻😁☀️
Some interesting and historical finds today.Perhaps some local pipe makers ran off a batch of those little guns for the local children after seeing them, either in the papers or on his travels. I should imagine the local shops would not have held a lot of things that the bigger towns and cities did. That could be why you can’t find them.I can imagine the children having so much fun with those . The historical pieces are always interesting !because it’s easy now to chase them up on the internet.it also give a good idea to the things people brought and used at the time of the bottle tip too. Thanks for taking us along ..Love n Light 🥰
I love old cracker charms and old Cracker Jack surprises!! That one is fabulous!! Great finds as usual ladies! Hugs to you both!!❤❤❤
That clay squirt gun is very cool! I bet you could try small balloons with water, they’d fit! Love the but the dragon? Maybe could be made into a charm, pendent or a Christmas decoration. Somehow a hole would need to be made, or a putty ring…
Thank you for another fun trip !
It would be neat to make a 'hot air balloon' with the decanter top. It's always so much fun to see what kind of treasures you two find on your adventures.
A little water gun how cute. Great finds. Great Video 👍
I wonder if the water pistol gun was actually a blank used in a mould to cast the metal cracker jack gun?? Love watching your mudlarking episodes and the amazing and unusal finds you both collect.
That is a super good theory!
Why the hole through, then? Good theory.
You could put some copper BB's in the decanter top with some soapy water and shake it. That's how I clean my small bottles.
How strange that both you two and the Northern Mudlarks both found a Cracker Jack gun on this week’s videos! I’d never seen anything like that. Now there are two!😀
Amazing unusual finds. Can't wait for the update.
Well done on your research on the squirt gun. I could imagine someone being horrified at you tapping it as it is SO rare! It would be interesting to find more cracker toys. Loved this video, thank you xxxx❤❤😊😊😊
You're photography is awesome. Very enjoyable nature shots. I love the little head you found Kate and the lion pipe you found Fleur. 👩🦳🌺
I've had a really bad day and night and this video helped me to relax and calm down so thank you I really enjoy your content ☺
Please look after yourself,we all have days like this.
@@sticklebacksummer thank you and yeah I know you look after your self too :)
I agree, it must be a tiny water gun. The hole all the way through, the distinctive shape where the rubber bladder would have popped on… it looks just the same. How cool!
"Little miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, eating her curds and whey..."
- A tuffet is a small grassy mound or clump of grass; or alternatively a low seat. -
Your little fingers likely froze a bit, but like myself... that would not stop you from having a Lark!! Good for you girls, we are so thankful for the adventures you both take us on!!❤
The mystery item looks like a hand holding a book with a fancy cuff over its wrist.
it's a good guess. It's been a very long time since Cracker Jacks toys were anything but paper junk
What a fun day out, more for us than you , I'm sure . The beautiful ice sculptures or more like whispers are so beautiful and your choice of music matched the ice, just beautiful, and I'd expect nothing less of you two. Have a lovely rest of your day.
Haven't even watched it yet, but I love Kate's expression in the thumbnail! 😅
Good on you for picking up those plastic bottles - litterbugs see the whole world as their own personal rubbish dump! And I'm sure lots of mudlarks and metal detectorists don't bother to pick up the rubbish they find - so it proves you are a good egg! Funnily enough, the Northern mudlarks in their latest video found a toy water pistol from a Crackerjack box exactly like yours - except theirs is lead. What a spooky coincidence!!
Enjoyed this little trip out . I love the Lion pipe best ! Two lions ! 🦁🦁
Some interesting finds ~ enjoyable snippets of history 🤔
01:17 A tuffet is an over-stuffed upholstered stool.😁😍
Stunning photography, you should take some photos in Black and White, they would make some nice prints and then sell them...
Love the sherd history and fascinating water pistol (it has to a water pistol). Wonderful little treasures, thank you for sharing them with us xx Teresa 🇦🇺❤
I live in Guernsey in the Channel Islands and we have the oldest post box (1853) STILL IN USE in the U.K. The paint has been kept a maroon colour rather than be repainted blue as others on the Island.
The glass ‘bulb’ would make a good hot air balloon.
Your little squirt gun is so cool I literally just watched Gail & Alex find a tin alloy one on their video posted a few days ago - what are the chances!
Ladies I have started watching this video 3 times something has cause me to turn it off ,but I'm here now and what wonderful treasures you have found and that little arm was so adorable I think your mom found .
I think you are spot on with the squirt gun
Amazing little treasures to find in the frozen ground! That gun definitely looks like it was attached to something, I think you found exactly what it is. Thanks for the video!❤
That triangular shaped bottle you could sand down the broken top and have an interesting bud vase; it is such an cool shape.
Charmed tuffets! A tiny hand- uncanny find!
1974?! wow, I assumed post codes were around long before that! I really enjoyed your 'Shard Story', so interesting. Kate, I always pick up the little brown jugs, I fashion a new handle with Milliput and then paint designs on them and finish with a coat of varnish. They have proved very popular. I love the Lion pipe! I have never seen anyone find one like it. The mystery find looks like an old fashioned pistol to me. Fab video Ladies! 😀💗 x
Good idea for the jugs
Awww I love you two! I m loving the Post Office Story of the “Refreshment Club” thank you 🙏🏼 thank you for always bringing us along with with you in nature. I count on your perspective in nature. Truly it’s the closest to Godly/Natural walks I get to experience on RUclips!
Have you ever used a shovel to see what lies beneath the surface? Nice pipes. 💚 Janet
I think you are spot on thinking it is a squirt gun.
What an interesting piece on the refreshment club shelf! Would love to see more like that!
Hello lovely ladies and everybody else. I really loved every second of this video . Thank you for keeping on going while you are not exactly in the fullness of health Kate. I loved this video. I have always had a fascination of postal history. I'm sure all the people that I know who work for the post service would love this too. That etched ball would make a lovely small balloon Christmas hanging decoration. As soon as I saw that picture I thought it was a squirt bubble gun. I like your new mudlarking bag Kate. Fleur I love your chain on your glasses. Speaking of the post I have still to send you something. It has flown by since Christmas soon it will be burns night , then valentines day then Easter. There's just never enough time for crafters is there?. I am wondering what you will be doing with your new watercolours. Will you be sketching the scenery on your travels?. I can remember my late grandmother's phone number being five digits, which was always getting mistaken for a taxi rank. We were always getting requests for to use our phone with people offering to put money in the box beside it. Before the advent of mobiles it certainly made life interesting. You have the knack of posting just when I need to watch you when I need to after I have had a bad time or I'm stressed etc . I hope this trend continues. The dragon was an appropriate find with it being the Chinese New year having begun. You were wearing one of my favourite colours when you were mud larking Kate. Your craft station sounds like mine haha totally chaotic. I eagerly await your next post no matter what you do. Stay safe and warm in this bitter cold winter. Xxx
Loved the lark and the history of the post office. 📫 OH! And the Cracker Jack squirt gun makes so much sense, especially with the C on it yeah?
Enjoyed the info on the pipes and little squirt pistol. I also watched a video where you made two dolls out of broken doll faces. Every step was amazing, amazing, amazing! Making something new out of something forgotten. You ladies are definitely artists. A fan. Deb C
I REALLY like the Sherd Stories!
At first, I thought maybe the gun might attach to a doll. Having seen the excellent research, though, I now lean towards your hypothesis. It's far more convincing and fun. I love the finds with acronyms. I'm glad Kates recovered. Thanks for a great video.
I really liked the post office history sherd story! very interesting. I think your little squirt gun is amazing detective work too!
My favorite you tubers ! ❤
Love the mystery finds! The photography of the frost was so beautiful. Great video ladies. Thanks for sharing. 🌻
I believe your theory of the toy water pistol is spot on. It is so curious that there are no references to it, but it certainly fits the criteria. How wonderful!
The gun is certainly a squirt gun and would have had a rubber bowl on the end filled with water. A marvelous find there Fleur. Some interesting finds on that lark and I love the two little cream jugs and such lovely colours. I keep my paint brushes in a cream pot like the one you left behind, the white one. The tiny tiny arm is precious and I hope you could find another so you could make a tiny doll. Sending wishes and love to all and I hav'nt managed to get down the post van yet but Fleurs present is all wrapped up and ready to go.
Hope your keeping well.
@@sticklebacksummer Yes thank you and yourself?
Had a nasty cold for about 2 weeks and still have a bit of a cough.
The etched broken stopper has Xmas Dec written all over it
